West End Readers  WEL - Monday, October 1 • 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm This month, we are reading books featuring animals!

Conversational Spanish  PLUC - Mon., Oct. 1, 15, 22 & 29 • 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Linda Kander, Spanish teacher, provides an informal class to learn Spanish or to brush up your skills. All levels welcome!

Creative Writers’ Group  PLUC - Tuesday, October 2 • 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm Take your writing to the next level by joining our Creative Writing Group. Sue A. Fairchild, book editor and published writer, oversees reading, discussion and critiques of group members’ work. Limited to 8 participants.

Vinyl Club  PLUC - Monday, October 8 • 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm Jason Snyder, local record buff, leads the Vinyl Club in showcasing, playing and discussing song selections. All record hounds ages 16+ are welcome. This session’s theme is 45’s. Bring your favorite 45’s to share and discuss with the group.

Movie Night at Ard’s Farm  PLUC - Wednesday, October 10 • 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Celebrate Halloween with a classic movie at Ard’s Farm with a showing of the Boris Karloff classic Frankenstein.

Online Shopping Safety  HML - Tuesday, October 9 • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm WEL - Monday, October 15 • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm PLUC - Tuesday, October 16 • 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Jeff Seebold, Technology Training Services Coordinator, explains ways to be safe while shopping online.

Mah Jongg  WEL - Monday, October 15 • 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm Mah Jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. No experience needed, an instructor is on hand to teach newcomers to this tilebased game.

Library Book Group  PLUC - Thursday, October 18 • 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm The book group is discussing The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Caregiver Support Group  PLUC - Monday, October 22 • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Are you caring for a loved one? Meet with the Lewisburg Home Health Services Caregiver Support group to share your experiences.

Carve a 3D Printed Pumpkin!  PLUC - October 22, 23, 25 • 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Drop in to the library and get ready for a spooky Halloween by digitally carving a pumpkin or writing your name on it using the Tinkercad website! Jeff Seebold, Techonolgy Training Services Coordinator, is on hand to help. Participants will be called to pick up their pumpkin once printed.



Cooking with Friends  WEL - Thursday, October 25 • 6:00 pm – 7:45 pm Our Cooking Group selects a recipe from a cookbook at the library, then prepares a dish to share. Visit the library to select a recipe.

Beginner Crochet  WEL - Saturday, October 6 • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Learn to crochet! Bring your own size 7, 8, or 9 crochet hook. We have a good supply of yarn available at the library. If you want to bring your own yarn, please make sure it is 4-ply knitting worsted in a solid color.



A.B.C. Play With Me Parent/Child Workshop  12-40 Months 5 Week Program Offered Wednesdays & Saturdays PLUC - Program Dates: Oct. 3 and Oct. 6 • 10:00 am - 11:00 am A Parent/Child program for children ages 12 to 40 months and their parents/caregivers. In addition to an uninterrupted hour of play, a resource professional from the community is present to talk with parents/caregivers about specific topics, which include literacy, nutrition, speech and language, music and movement, and child development.

Sensory Night  PLUC - Thursday, October 4 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Meets the 1st Thursday of each month Children with sensory issues and their caregivers are invited to explore and enjoy sensory materials in a non-threatening environment. Resource materials are available. Siblings are welcome.

Touch a Fire Truck  PLUC - Tuesday, October 9 • 10:00 am – 11:00 am William Cameron Engine Company visits the library with their fire truck for children to explore in celebration of Fire Prevention Week.



National Fire Prevention Week  WEL - Tuesday, October 9 • 10:30 am – 11:30 am Firemen from the West End Fire Company are presenting a program about fire safety in celebration of National Fire Prevention Week. Held in the Hartley Township Recreation Center next door to the library, this program takes the place of our regular pre-school Discover program.

Lego Night All Ages PLUC - Thursday, October 11 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month Get creative and build anything you want with LOTS of Legos.

Beginning ASL  Ages 5-12 Years Old PLUC - Thursday, October 18 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Meets every 3rd Thursday through December Come learn and practice basic beginner ASL (American Sign Language). This class builds on the previous week’s instruction, so regular attendance is encouraged.

Fall Festival  PLUC - Wednesday, October 24 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Dress as your favorite mythological god or goddess and explore the constellations visible in the evening sky. Light refreshments and toasted marshmallows provided. This is an outdoor event so please dress for the weather.

Crazy 8s Math Club  Grades 3rd - 5th PLUC - Thursday, October 25 • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Crazy 8s is a collection of math activities that gets kids to think of math as play.

Fall Movie & Snacks  WEL - Saturday, October 27 • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Visit the library for a fun time watching a movie and eating yummy snacks. Dress up in a costume if you like!

Dungeons & Dragons Role Playing Game  Grades 6-12 PLUC - Playing: Sat., Oct. 6 & 20 • 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm Roll the D20 as you assume a fantasy-based identity and go on a role-playing adventure with other local D & D players. Beginner to advanced, welcome.

Grades 6-12 Goosebumps Slime  HML - Monday, October 8 • 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm October 8th marks Goosebumps’ author R.L. Stine’s birthday! To celebrate we are whipping up some of that signature gooey green Goosebumps slime.

Teen Bibliophiles  Grades 6-12 PLUC - Thursday, October 18 • 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Teen Bibliophiles are discussing Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Teen Read Week HML - Monday, October 8 – October 13 Drop In Program: Open during regular library hours Use a post-it note and leave reviews for your favorite YA books! No registration required.

Grades 6-12 Comic Book Night  WEL - Monday, October 22 • 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Meet Chris Ring, commercial illustrator for over 20 years, and John Yorty, owner of Yukon Cards and Comics, at this free comic book night.

Dungeons & Dragons Role Playing Game  Grades 6-12 PLUC - Workshops: Sat., Oct. 13 & 27 • 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm Learn to play Dungeons and Dragons. Workshops cover different role playing game topics--tips and tricks, how to DM, generate your own monsters, and more! This is not a regular D & D game playing session.

Board Game Café  HML - Monday, October 29 • 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm We are busting out our game collection and we want you to be there. Have a blast with your friends or even make new ones here at the library, all while enjoying coffee and tea!

Teens 12+ Robots and Retro Gaming for Teens  WEL - Program Dates: Saturday, October 13, November 10 & December 15 • 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Try the Ozobots, or meet R2-D2, BB-8 and BB-9E from Star Wars! Race Sphero around the room or have fun playing classic Nintendo games.

Grades 6-12 Falloween Crafts  HML - Tuesday, October 30 • 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm Not super into Halloween, but still want to enjoy that cozy autumn feeling? Come make some autumn themed crafts at Falloween.
