SRC staff will be implementing a variety of policy changes and restrictions to help protect the wellbeing of our patrons. UC Reciprocity

To support UC’s student and staff health throughout the UC system, a policy of reciprocity is available to all UC Recreation Sports Departments at all campuses. All UC Recreation Departments will honor other UC campus students and campus Recreation members at their facilities during the school year, with a valid UC students ID card and UC Recreation members card at no charge. At specialty facilities, i.e. aquatic and equestrian centers, the visiting student/ member must pay the standard rate. SRC Information

General Class Info

Non-credit courses are designed to teach skills that an individual can use during leisure time. Classes are taught by qualified instructors who have special skills they wish to share. Course fees cover instructor’s salary and most supplies. If you are interested in teaching a class or have ideas about new classes, we encourage you to drop in and see us or contact Rose Edmonds at rose. edmonds@ucr.edu. You may register for classes at recreation. ucr.edu or at the front counter of SRC North and South. All fees are paid at the Student Recreation Center and each class has a separate fee structure depending on the nature and cost of the class. We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover cards. No refunds on activity classes unless the class is cancelled by the Recreation department. All classes have a minimum and maximum number of participants required, depending on the type of class. Enrollment is based on payment of fees and is on a first-come basis. Class will be closed after the maximum has been reached and cancelled 48 hours before the first class session if the minimum is not met. SRC parking is available in any guest lot (i.e. 22, 24, 27 and 30). Parking lot guest passes may be purchased at the Parking Kiosk at the UCR entrance off of University Ave., and on Canyon Crest Drive off of Martin Luther King Blvd. Note: Workout attire is required for all classes; denim or jeans are not allowed.

June 21 - June 26 Tuesday - Sunday During SRC open hours If you are not an SRC member, but are eligible to join... then we have a treat for you. We are opening our doors to the UCR community for an entire week free! Visit us at the Student Recreation Center and take part in our group exercise classes, swim in our awesome pool, climb The Rock, play basketball and indoor soccer in our MAC gym, serve it up on the tennis courts, and explore our entire facility! We’re positive that you’ll like what you see, and that you’ll feel better after participating in all the fun. Must be eligible for principal SRC membership, but active membership is not required.


The Student Recreation Center offers structured activities in all of our programs, but we also encourage open recreation. Drop in and do your own thing! Take advantage of our facility space and swim, dance, climb, lift, jog, or play a game. Available open recreation spaces include all multi-purpose rooms (MPR), tennis courts, fitness center, all courts, and The Rock.

Salsa Dance, Open Level

In this open level class, you will learn the fundamentals of salsa dancing with an emphasis on musical connection and cultural context. By the end of this class, you will be able to feel salsa music and express that feeling in your dancing. No prior dance experience or partner necessary. The online component is designed to instruct participants in the knowledge-based aspects of the First Aid/CPR/AED course, along with introducing them to the skills they will practice and master during the in-person skill session. Successful completion of the course (online and in-person) will result in a certification valid for 2 years. UCR/IEP Students $50 Non-Students $90

Aikido, Unlimited

June 28 - September 1 Tuesday, Thursday, 6pm - 8pm Register at https://bit.ly/3Md4cZt MPR D Students learn the basic moves of Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, designed to turn an attack against an aggressor. Judo, Beginning

June 27 - August 31 Monday, Wednesday, 6:30pm - 7:30pm Register at https://bit.ly/35DRKB6 MPR D This introductory course in Kodokan Judo teaches several basic throws, pins, arm bars, chokes and how to fall properly to protect against injury. Free practice (randori) includes standing techniques and mat work. Judo etiquette and respectful behavior is required during class. If all technical and attendance requirements are met, students may test for yellow belt at the end of the quarter. UCR/IEP Students $45 Non-Students $55 *No class July 4

Judo, Advanced

June 27 - August 31 Monday, Wednesday, 6:30pm - 9pm Register at https://bit.ly/3vqLNTk MPR D Approval is required. This is intermediate and advanced Judo training in Kodokan Judo. Judo Gi is required. This class focuses on Tachi Waza (standing techniques). Kata will also be taught and practiced on a selection basis. Competition is recommended but not required, as it is a crucial method for testing and improving Judo skills. This class is combined with beginning class at 6:30pm (optional but not required). Beginning students learn the 28 movement Old Yang style form. Continuing students work on Long form, San Shou, Fast form, Kuang Ping (Guang Ping), Pa-kua Chang (baguazhang), Hsing-I Ch'uan (Xing-yi quan), pushing hands and t'ai-chi weapons. Each student is taught at their own pace. This class is the fastest way to learn the 28 form. Aquatics

AQUATICS The SRC’s 237,000 gallon pool and 20-person spa is available for your aquatic adventures. The pool contains a lap swim area, recreational swim area, a vortex/current channel, and a large deck with lounge furniture. It is available for lap swimming, recreational swimming, programming and rentals. Aquatics provides an opportunity for the UCR community to bridge academic learning with recreational health and wellness, leading to a higher quality of life. SRC South Pool Private lessons provide participants with the opportunity to learn at their own pace and can be adapted for all abilities. Private lessons are 30-minute one-on-one sessions scheduled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Lesson times are first-come-first-serve and occur 9:30am-10am, 10am-10:30am, 5pm5:30pm, and 5:30pm-6pm - 1 lesson per time-slot. Private Lessons: 4 lessons $80

SRC South Pool Private lessons provide participants with the opportunity to learn at their own pace and can be adapted for all abilities. Set the time to meet your schedule and our instructor will work to meet your swimming goals. Register first and then the SRC Aquatics staff will contact you to arrange your private lessons. Private lessons are 30-minute one-on-one sessions scheduled on a first-come-firstserve basis. Participants may add a second person to create a semi-private lesson. SRC South Pool 30 minutes, twice a week for three (3) weeks. These lessons are for adults with little or no comfort in the water. Participants will learn how to hold their breath, float, get an introduction to the front crawl and learn basic water safety skills. No experience with swimming is needed to take this level. Fee: $40

Adult Level 2 Swim Lessons

August 9 - 25 Tuesday, Thursday, 6pm - 6:30pm Register at https://bit.ly/SRCswim SRC South Pool 30 minutes, twice a week for three (3) weeks. These lessons are for adults that have completed the Level 1 course or have equivalent skills. Participants in this class should be comfortable in waist height or deeper water. Participants will continue stroke development in front crawl/ freestyle. They will also begin learning the fundamentals of backstroke and breaststroke. Participants should be able to swim at least 25 yards of front crawl/ freestyle with forward momentum to take this level. Fee: $40


Weekend Children’s Swim Lessons

SRC South Pool 30 minutes, twice a week for three (3) weeks. These lessons are for adults that have completed the Level 2 course or have equivalent skills. Participants in this class are comfortable in chest height or deeper water. Participants will continue to refine their technique in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and begin learning the fundamentals of butterfly. Participants should be comfortable swimming at least 50 yards of freestyle and 25 yards of either backstroke or breaststroke to take this level.

SRC South Pool These adaptive swim lessons are designed for individuals with additional needs. Adaptive lessons maintain a 1 participant to 1 instructor (1:1) ratio and run 30 minutes in length. Competitive Sports

Competitive Sports Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a newcomer to competitive sports, there is a spot for you! We offer traditional team sports such as soccer, flag football, volleyball, basketball and softball; but also events such as tennis, badminton and sand volleyball. Events range from multi-week league sports to single-day tournaments. Competitive Sports strives to create a fun, safe and fair environment to compete and play the sports that you grew up loving. Come and play with friends, or make new ones that could last a lifetime. Play for bragging rights, the camaraderie, or simply for the love of the game! The Intramural Sports program offers structured leagues and tournaments for all undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff members with an SRC membership. Competition ranges from competitive to recreational; and most sports offer men’s, women’s, or co-rec leagues.

Sport Clubs

A sport club is a group of students who meet regularly to pursue an interest in a competitive collegiate activity at the state, regional, and national level. UCR sport clubs are an exciting alternative to intramural sports and offers a way of getting involved in a fun and competitive environment. Rugby, soccer, volleyball, kendo, and ballroom dancing clubs compete against other college teams. We have various highly competitive sports and rec club teams. Each club team is developed, organized, and managed by students with guidance from the competitive sports assistant director. Sport clubs enable students to enhance their collegiate experience and serve as an excellent setting for the development of athletic skills, student leadership and social outlets. All participants are welcome and membership fees are required for uniforms, association fees and other equipment. There are try-outs as it relates to becoming a member of the team.
