Through videos, group discussion and handson practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.

SPORT CLUBS A sport club is a group of students who meet regularly to pursue an interest in a competitive collegiate activity at the state, regional, and national level. UCR sport clubs are an exciting alternative to intramural sports and offers a way of getting involved in a fun and competitive environment. Rugby, Soccer, Volleyball, Kendo, and Ballroom Dancing clubs compete against other college teams. We have various highly competitive sports and Rec club teams. Each club team is developed, organized, and managed by students with guidance from the Competitive Sports Assistant Director. Sport clubs enable students to enhance their collegiate experience and serve as an excellent setting for the development of athletic skills, student leadership and social outlets. All participants are welcome and membership fees are required for uniforms, association fees and other equipment. There are try-outs as it relates to becoming a member of the team. Interested in joining or starting your own club? Contact matthew.dunigan@ucr.edu, (951) 827-4468 for more information.

CHALLENGE COURSE Through carefully designed and led activities, individuals and teams explore communication, group dynamics, confidence, decision-making, team spirit, trust, cooperation, motivation, creativity, conflict resolution, diversity and feedback. We accomplish this by creating a physically and emotionally safe environment in which individuals and teams are free to step outside of their comfort zone and take a risk. Another key element to our program is fun! We believe the team that plays together stays together, and people are much more willing to learn when fun is involved.
