PROCESS CONSTRUCTING A TWO PIECE SHIRT COLLAR

1. Assemble all pieces needed for this process. Fuse the topcollar and one of the stands with lightweight interfacing. 2. With right sides together, sew along the top edge of the collar. 3. Sew with a 1cm seam allowance, matching notches as you sew.

4. As you press, roll the edge of the collar under slightly. 5. Turn the collar back on itself, right sides together and bag out the collar ends. 6. Fold the seam allowance back and catch it in the seam.

7. Depending on the collar style, fold or trim collar ends.

10. Sew the collar to the stand without the interfacing.

8. Turn the collar through to the right side.

11. Use a 1cm seam allowance.

9. Press the top collar.

12. Now with right sides together, sandwich the collar between the two collar stands.

13. Sew around the stands with 1cm seam allowance. 14. Match notches as you sew. 15. Trim the curved edge of the stand back to 3mm

16. Turn collar through to the right side. Depending on the style of the collar, you could ether edgestitch or topstitch at this stage. 17. Press the collar into shape. 18 Finished collar ready to attach to shirt.
