1. Assemble all pieces needed for this procedure. Overlock all necessary pieces - side seams, inside leg seams, crotch seams and around the edges of the fly and zip guard.

4. On the right front, attach the fly piece to the centre front opening using a 1cm seam allowance. As you approach the bottom of the fly, ensure your stitch line sits within the seam allowance.

2. Place centre front pieces together. Sew from the notch at the bottom of the zip opening to the end of the crotch.

5. Fold the seam allowance towards the fly. Flat stitch the edge of seam on the fly.

3. Place the zip onto the zip guard. Ensure you have a seam allowance between the top of the zip teeth and the garment. Sew the zip to the zip guard.

6. Attach the zipper foot. Attach zip guard and zip to left front using a 1cm seam allowance. 7. Edgestitch the seam. Press

8. Fold the fly front under. 9. Position, and pin the right hand front over the closed zipper. IMPORTANT: ENSURE ZIP IS POSITIONED WELL INSIDE THE OVERLAP SO THAT THE ZIP AND PULLER ARE NOT VISABLE. 10. Turn garment to the wrong side. Flip back the zip guard to expose the zip. Sew zipper tape to the fly.

11. Trim zip if too long and stitch through the bottom of the zip to secure the zipper teeth. Change back to your normal machine foot. 12. To sew the final topstitch, ensure zip guard is held away from the zip. Topstitch through both the garment and fly following the shape of the fly. 13. Stitch fly and zip guard together at the bottom of the fly. 14. Lightly press.
