Thomas De Falco is one of the few young artists in Italy that operates manually through the technique of wrapping - the use of carded wool. It is precisely the material, wool, used in its raw state, that is able to convey to the touch and to the eye, a feeling of purity. With Rinascita, the exhibition held at ATELIER Les Copains in Milan, Thomas De Falco continues his exploration physical and metaphorical - of wool with other materials. The exhibition consists of a performance lasting 180 minutes combined in the form of counterpoint, with a selection of textile sculptures that De Falco has made since 2005. In the main hall of the ATELIER Les Copains the melody of a harp, played by musician Rossana Monico, accompany the slow movements of the models Sabrina Querci, Alina Zaharia and Mauro Demestria. These, form a dreamlike dimension, “reborn” to a new state of consciousness, that unravel around their bodies as long wrappings of cotton and wool created with an original “pyramid” technique. The centerpiece of the exhibition will be a sculptural group of more than 300 meters of wrapped cotton, silk, wool and metal, whose center is a heart with multicolored yarn and fabric details. The performance act becomes meditation on the profound values of the human being, the relations that bind us to each other and to our roots. As the wrapping combines the models, so the viewer remains embroiled in a suggestive psychological and emotional network.
