Q&A: All About Cameras By Lucy Cuneo What’s the best way to get started? - The best way to get started is to shoot a ton and try not to get too frustrated with yourself when its not looking exactly how you want. What’s the best compact camera that takes the best “Instagram worthy” pictures? - I did find the canon system to be a really fantastic one to learn on and so it might be worth the extra effort to pull it out and learn the photography fundamentals. How do you manually get your subject in focus but background hazy? It looks fine in the camea but on my computer my subject (usually a person) is also kind of blurry too! -Shooting on a shallow depth of field can both help you achieve this effect and make it tricky to nail your focus. I always set mine using autofocusing and specify the autofocus point. What’s your favortie camera to use while you’re traveling? -I shoot mostly with my Leicaa M with a 35 mm lens and my iPhone 7+. The Leica is an incredible camera but is tricky to use and a massive investment. The iPhone 7+ camera is quick and amazing and I highly recommend it -- it can shoot well in a variety of circumstances. What is your favorite program/app to edit photos? -I always manage my photo edting in Lightroom and use VSCO filters with some tweaking.

Can you use generic camera lenses with branded camras? (Particularly Olympus Pen) -First. let me just say that you should consider lenses greater investments. Lenses make all the differnce and can turn a mediocre photo int an amzing high quality image. But, yes! You can use generic lenses for all manufactureers.

A lot of photographers don’t understand how their own camera works and they find themselves putting it on a mode and hoping the camera will do all the dirty work. This works sometimes only because the cameras are really smart. But, this is definitely not always the case though. A photographer needs to know how the shutter speed or aperture changes a photo. They need to know different perspectives, lightings, exposure, and a lot more to really get the right photo. All of these can drastically change how to the photos come out. What you think could be a great shot can ultimately turn out to be horribly ugly because of an error in how the camera was set up. So, let’s tale a look at a few things to keep n mind as the camera is clicking away so that the photos come out just right! A good photographer first needs to know how to work their camera. Take into consideration your surroundings! You can’t expect the same settings too work in daylight and night. So, try out different settings in different places. This will give you an idea of what settings to use under the given circumstances. There is also different videos, or articles that tell you exactly what mode or setting to use for what you’re looking

for. Okay, so you’ve got the settings just right for this perfect photo, but something is still missing... You can’t always take a good picture without considering these next important factors. “Put very simply, perspective has to do with the spartial relationships between objects in your frame-- their sizes, their placements, and the space between them,” Lauren Lim, a professional photographer, states. Perspective plays an important role in taking the perfect photo. When the lighting hits directly on the focus because of the placement of the focus and photographer’s angle is so important in taking a great photo. Perspective can make the photo. Sometimes you just need that angle that makes the photo pop. Remember, you can always edit the photos later on your computer. It isn’t as daunting as it seems. A little editing won’t make the photo “fake.” It will just add those little final touches to your photo to complete them. Understanding how the editing software works can really bring your photos to life. It’s an incredible way to take an average looking image and apply a few changes to turn them into something incredible.
