A lot of things shape our life, but where you live influences many aspects of your life. If you grew up near the beach, you most likely have an appreciation for all things aquatic, and love spending time with friends on the warm sand. If you grew up in a big city, you most likely are a huge fan of bright lights and the sounds of the city around you. It might also mean that you are extremely good with directions. For the students at Xavier Academy High School, nothing makes them prouder than being a Florida native. In the area around us, we have so many amazing and beautiful things. The people here are warm, the nature is breath taking, the weather is always sunny and the vibe is calming. Whether you have lived here your whole life or just moved here, everyone can agree that they wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. This town has molded everyone into their best selves. It is the reason why our students are some of the best in the nation. It is the reason we are lively, spirited and, the most important of all, influential.
Being a native is who we are and what we will become. {2}

IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT The Gamma Rays prove to be the champions while remaining on their home territory By: Samantha Neely
Nothing feels better than being undefeated. It especially feels best after a long season filled with blood, sweat and tears. For the Gamma Rays, they gave it all they had and ended up victorious. In their only home game of the whole season, they had won with a score of 36 to 6. The final score came from sophomore newcomer OJ Simpson who scored a touchdown with only seconds left of the game. “It felt amazing scoring that last touchdown. When the sirens went off, the whole team picked me up and carried me on their shoulders while cheering. I was nervous I wouldn’t fit in here at Xavier Academy, so I’m glad that I found security in football,” Simpson said. The other star of the night was senior quarterback Kim Kardashian. Throughout her high school career, Kardashian has constantly made headlines. From being the first female quarterback to being accepted to the University of Florida’s football team, she has always been in the spotlight. The crowd was emotional after the game, knowing it was her last as a Gamma Ray. Her team chanted her name as they went off the field. “The game was like a blur, I’m just excited that we won and that I could spend my last game with the people I love,” Kardashian said. For the Gamma Ray, its not just football; it’s a lifestyle. For years, this team has been together through everything. They accept newcomers, like Simpson, and they celebrate others, like Kardashian. For them, winning the last game was everything. They were not able to make their school and hometown proud, but they were able to make themselves proud. No team will ever come as close to being a family like the Orange City Gamma Rays.
