Wonders of what will happen next. Trying not to worry about what will follow next but things start happening. People stare at you and watch every moment you make. All that tension on you and you have no idea what to do next. Not knowing if your next move will be scary, a mistake, or good turn-out.

On the Grind
by Zulianne Coriano
Football isn’t just here get the ball and play. It’s more of go over there and I will throw this ball to you. You better catch it… EVERYONE is counting on you. Quarterback, junior, George Smith was terrified when he first started playing football. “My dad always told me, “Son, when I was your age I played the best quarterback in football and everyone counted on me until I broke my leg… Now you can sit here and complain or get to it.” Coaching isn’t just telling people what to do is actually pushing someone to take their time to dedicate to their passion. Coach Jones Dwight has been coaching for five years at Xavier Academy High School and has not once gave up on these athletes. “I believe that everyone in the field should be passionate about the sport rather than just be here and do absolutely nothing. Give it your all, we are one!” Having sweat dripping down of your face, your heart racing, and your legs that can barely stay straight trying to maintain itself to keep pushing yourself to do more than give up right there and then. Everyone has gotten tired to the point they feel their legs will break. Well football players feel that pain everyday but that doesn’t stop them. Senior Kyle Natal practices twice a day. “I’m a very hard worker and like to get my work done. I practice from three to eight everyday after school and on the weekends I go to the park and do the same routine with some of the other football players.”

RISE AS ONE Get ready because we are coming for that touchdown. Offense team comes together as one and gets a “W.” Senior Stephan Williams gets ready to run the ball. “I don’t always get the balls but when I do I’m unstoppable.” Williams said.
TACKLED Have you ever tripped when someone has slightly pushed you? Well imagine a 140-pound person running to you at full speed towards you. Junior Liam Hendricks gets tackled as he ran the ball 20 yards. “I’m used to getting tackled but sometimes it blows the wind right out of me,” Hendricks said.
Player Down
Bow down, player down. There was always that one player who got down. “I was just taking a water break,” senior Jacques Miller explained, “I heard my best friend was down and all I did was kneeled down.” To see someone get hurt is something no one ever wants to see.
Get down! Everyone down! Quarterback, senior Joshua Perez, focuses, as the game is about to begin. “It’s a lot of pressure when the team depends on you to throw the ball across the field.”
