BLAS NA HEIREANN AWARDS SPECIAL FOCUS

LOCAL PRODUCERS ENJOY A TASTE OF SUCCESS AT THE IRISH FOOD AWARDS (BLAS NA HEIREANN) Northern Irelands food producers have once again been hailed as the crème de la crème by picking up numerous Gold, Silver & Bronze medals at the Irish Food Awards (Blas na hEireann) which were announced down in Cork early on in October. A number of local producers were hailed for their high quality products at the awards, which are often dubbed the Oscars of Irish food, following a hotly contested judging process which took place in Dingle in July with the winners announced as part of a virtual ceremony in October. Some of Northern Ireland winning prime producers were as follows: • Ke Nako Biltong, who were awarded a Silver medal for their Chilli Biltong and a Bronze for its “Pain in the Hole” biltong • Lean Supper Club Ltd – were awarded a Silver medal for their Beef Satay healthy meal • McCrackens Brewery, were given a Bronze for their McCracken’s Black (stout) • Dundarave Estate a Bronze for their Irish Apple Cider Vinegar and a Bronze for their Spiced Plum and Damson jam • Maud’s Ice Cream, were awarded a Gold for Poor Bear ice cream, their signature blend • La Dolce Vita Newry, won Gold for their LDV Chilli Sauce and a Bronze for their LDV Pizza Rossa kit
