‫فيليكس بومغارتنر‬ ‫يكشف عن مهمة البعثة‬ ‫إلى الفضاء‬

‫أسطورة الفضاء العقيد جوزيف كيتينغر يقود جهود‬ ‫وأبحاث ريد بُل ستراتوس اللتقاط بيانات عن‬ ‫السقوط احل ّر ماخ ‪1‬‬ ‫ّ‬

‫عرب الطيار فليكس بومغارتنر عن رغبته في توسيع حدود استكشاف الفضاء‪،‬‬ ‫الصوت بجسده‪ .‬ويأمل رياضي‬ ‫إذ يسعى ألن يصبح أ ّول شخص يخرق سرعة ّ‬ ‫ريد بُل‪ ،‬بومغارتنر أن يصعد في كبسولة يرفعها بالون هليوم إلى ال ّروافد العليا من‬ ‫الغالف اجلوي إلى ما ال يقل عن ‪ 120.000‬قدم (‪36،576‬متر)‪ ،‬ومحميا ببذلة‬ ‫السقوط احل ّر التي قد تتجاوز ماخ ‪ 1-‬أي‬ ‫فضاء كاملة ّ‬ ‫الضغط ليقوم بإطالق قفزة ّ‬ ‫الساعة (‪1110‬كلم‪/‬س) ‪ -‬قبل القفز باملظلّة إلى األرض‪.‬‬ ‫أكثر من ‪ 690‬ميال في ّ‬ ‫وإذا جنح في ذلك‪ ،‬تأمل بعثة ريد بُل ستراتوس في تسجيل أربعة أرقام قياسية‬ ‫عاملية‪ .‬وان البيانات التي مت التقاطها من قبل بعثة كبار العلماء في العالم قد تعد‬ ‫بوضع معايير جديدة في مجال سالمة الطيران وتعزيز إمكانيات رحلة اإلنسان‪.‬‬ ‫في منظر طبيعي مثير يسوده اللون األسود واإلنارة الزّرقاء في الطابق األربعني‬ ‫من مبنى شاهق في نيويورك‪ ،‬قام العقيد في القوات اجلوية األمريكية جوزيف‬ ‫كيتينغر‪ -‬الذي أطلق قفزة الستراتوسفير في العام ‪ 1960‬من على ارتفاع‬ ‫‪ 102800‬قدم والتي فتحت الباب الستكشاف الفضاء‪ ،‬والذي يهدف بومغارتنر الى‬ ‫كسر سجالته‪ -‬بتقدمي الطيار النمساوي إلى وسائل اإلعالم العاملية خالل مؤمتر‬ ‫صحفي انعقد في مدينة نيويورك‪.‬‬ ‫ملدة خمسني سنة ومات كثير منهم‬ ‫وقال كيتينغر‪“ :‬حاول الكثيرون كسر سجالتي ّ‬ ‫في احملاولة”‪ .‬وأضاف‪“ :‬ولكن مع بعثة فريقنا غير العادية والفريدة‪ ،‬وتفاني ريد‬ ‫بُل‪ ،‬ومهارات بومغارتنر املميزة‪ ،‬فأنا على يقني من أن ريد بُل ستراتوس سوف‬ ‫تنجح‪”.‬‬

‫كيتينغر‪ ،‬بومغارتنر (الذي اشتهر لكونه أول شخص يطير عبر القناة االجنليزية‬ ‫الدكتور‬ ‫بجناح كاربون في العام ‪ ،)2003‬قام املدير الطبي لريد بُل ستراتوس ّ‬ ‫جوناثن كالرك ومدير املشروع الفني أرت تومسون بإعطاء حملة عامة عن البعثة‪،‬‬ ‫التي نتوقع إطالقها في أمريكا ّ‬ ‫الشمالية في العام ‪.2010‬‬ ‫قال بومغارتنر‪“ :‬هذه هي حقا خطوة نحو املجهول‪ .‬ال ميكن ألحد التنبؤ بدقة كيف‬ ‫الصوت‪”.‬‬ ‫سيكون رد فعل اجلسم البشري في مرحلة االنتقال بسرعة تفوق سرعة ّ‬ ‫وأضاف‪“ :‬ولكن علينا أن ندرك إن برامج الفضاء املستقبلية بحاجة إلى إيجاد‬ ‫وسيلة إلنقاذ الطيارين ورواد الفضاء على علو مرتفع في حال الطوارئ‪”.‬‬

‫علن اليوم منظمو معرض «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬إنَّ قرابة ‪ 25‬باملئة من الصاالت‬ ‫الفنية املشاركة في الدورة املرتقبة ستبادر هذا العام‪ ،‬وللم َّرة األولى‪ ،‬إلى‬ ‫تخصيص أجنحة فردية تسلِّط الضوء على املسيرة اإلبداعية لفنان أو اثنني‪.‬‬ ‫وقالت اجلهة ِّ‬ ‫صممة إلبراز أعمال كوكبة‬ ‫املنظمة إن هذه األجنحة احلصرية امل ُ َّ‬ ‫من املُبدعني ستم ِّكن املقتنني والزائرين من تت ُّبع املسيرة اإلبداعية لفنان معينَّ‬ ‫والتح ُّوالت املتالحقة التي طرأت على رؤيته ومفاهيمه على م ِّر األعوام‪ ،‬مبا مي ِّكن‬ ‫محددين‪ ،‬بدالً من‬ ‫الزائرين واملتابعني من امتالك رؤية مع َّمقة ومترابطة عن فنانني‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫الرؤية الهامشية‪ ،‬ورمبا املشتتة‪ ،‬ألعمال فنانني متعدِّدين‪ .‬وستض ّم األجنحة الفردية‬ ‫أو الثانية في «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬أعماالً حديث ًة ملبدعني من الهند ومصر‪ ،‬وفي‬ ‫طليعتهم الفنان الهندي العاملي مقبول فدا حسني الذي متتد مسيرته اإلبداعية‬ ‫على مدى عقود طويلة ويُع ُّد أحد أشهر ُمبدعيها على اإلطالق‪ ،‬حيث أطلقت عليه‬ ‫مجلة «فوربس» في عام ‪ 2006‬لقب «بيكاسو الهند»‪ ،‬وكذلك الفنان التشكيلي‬ ‫سيخصص «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬منصات مماثلة ملُبدعني‬ ‫املصري عادل السيوي‪ .‬كما‬ ‫ِّ‬ ‫من كوريا وتشيلي وبيرو وإسبانيا والسودان‪.‬‬ ‫املؤسس املشارك واملدير العام ملعرض «آرت دبي»‪“ :‬نحن واثقون‬ ‫وقال جون مارتن‪،‬‬ ‫ِّ‬ ‫من أنَّ مفهوم األجنحة اإلبداعية الفردية التي تبرز أعمال فنان أو اثنني سيع ِّمق‬ ‫فهم الزائرين واملتابعني من جهة‪ ،‬ومي ِّكن املقتنني املتم ِّرسني واملبتدئني من متابعة‬ ‫مسيرة فنان بشكل متسلسل‪ .‬وهناك توجهان مختلفان بني الصاالت الفنية املشاركة‬ ‫رسامني‬ ‫في آرت دبي ‪ 2010‬التي تبنَّت هذا املفهوم‪ ،‬فمنها من اختارت أعمال َّ‬ ‫ممن تستقطب أعمالهم اهتماماً واسعاً‪ ،‬ومنها‬ ‫معروفني من الهند وشمال أفريقيا َّ‬ ‫ممن تستحق‬ ‫وراءها‬ ‫وما‬ ‫األوسط‬ ‫الشرق‬ ‫منطقة‬ ‫من اختارت إبراز أعمال فنانني من‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫أعمالهم اهتماماً إقليمياً ودولياً واسعاً”‪.‬‬ ‫ستخصص لهم أجنحة خاصة في إطار هذه املبادرة التي‬ ‫ومن أبرز املبدعني الذين‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫يتبناها «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬للمرة األولى الرسام واملخرج الهندي األسطوري مقبول‬ ‫فدا حسني ( ُولد ‪ .)1915‬إذ ستعرض أعماله «غروسڤنر ڤادهيرا غاليري» اللندنية‬ ‫أعمال مقبول فدا حسني الذي يتفق النقاد على أن مسيرته اإلبداعية كان لها دور‬ ‫بارز في تسليط األضواء العاملية على احلركة اإلبداعية في منطقة الشرق األوسط‬ ‫وشمال أفريقيا وجنوب آسيا‪ .‬وسيض ّم جناحه في «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬العديد من‬ ‫أعماله التي تظهر تط ُّور رؤيته اإلبداعية على مدار أكثر من ستة عقود‪.‬‬

‫يتضمن «آرت دبي ‪ »2010‬أجنح ًة خاص ًة بفنانني مصر َّيني معاصرين هما‬ ‫كما‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫عادل السيوي ( ُولد ‪ )1952‬الذي تعرض أعماله غاليري «آرت سبيس» في دبي‪،‬‬ ‫والفنان املصري األرمني شانت‪ ‬أفيدسيان ( ُولد ‪ )1951‬التي تعرضها غاليري‬ ‫«روز عيسى بروجكتس» اللندنية املختصة باألعمال العربية واإليرانية‪ .‬يُشار‬ ‫إلى أن الفنان التشكيلي املصري الشهير عادل السيوي قد شارك في معارض‬ ‫الطب ثم هاجر إلى إيطاليا‬ ‫درس‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫جماعية وفردية حول العالم‪ .‬وكان السيوي قد َ‬ ‫التي أقام بها لعشر سنوات أجنز خاللها مرحلته الفنية حول «األمكنة واملدن»‬ ‫يشد الرحال ثانية إلى مصر مع بداية التسعينيات جلذورها احلضارية‬ ‫قبل أن ّ‬ ‫واإلبداعية العميقة‪ ،‬حيث أقا َم معرضاً جماعياً بالقاهرة عام ‪ .1993‬فيما ُولد‬ ‫شانت‪ ‬أفيدسيان بالقاهرة وتشارك أعماله في العديد من املزادات والصاالت‬ ‫الفنية حول العالم‪ ،‬ومنها على سبيل املثال ال احلصر املتحف الوطني للفن‬ ‫األفريقي التابع ملؤسسة سميثسونيان في واشنطن‪ ،‬واملتحف البريطاني في لندن؛‬ ‫ومتحف تروبني في أمستردام؛ واملتاحف الوطنية في أسكتلندا؛ واملتحف الوطني‬ ‫األردني للفنون اجلميلة‪.‬‬ ‫وباإلضافة إلى ما سبق‪ ،‬ستسلط صاالت فنية مشاركة في «آرت دبي ‪»2010‬‬

‫وخرجت من ال��وزارة ولكن تحقق الهدف بالرغم من‬ ‫ضغوط أصحاب المصالح والنفوذ ولم أعلم ما مدى‬ ‫أو مستوى التدخل ال��ذي ت��م لتعطيل اإلستراتيجية‬ ‫حتى التقيت بالسفير األمريكي السابق إدوارد غنيم‬ ‫وال��ذي أقام مع الحكومة الكويتية في الطائف إلى أن‬ ‫تحررت الكويت‪ ...‬التقيت به في حفل عشاء أقامه العم‬ ‫عبدالعزيز الغنام في ديوانيته في ضاحية عبد الله السالم‬ ‫على شرف كبار قادة القوات األمريكية التي شاركت في‬ ‫تحرير الكويت‪ ،‬وكان السفير قد انتهت مهمته في الكويت‬ ‫وبانتظار السفر لمهمة جديدة في األم��م المتحدة وكنت‬ ‫حينها قد خرجت من الوزارة ولم تعد لي أي صفة رسمية‪.‬‬ ‫وبينما كنا في انتظار دورن��ا في البوفيه همزت في أذن‬ ‫السفير قائ ً‬ ‫ال‪" :‬سيد غنيم‪ ..‬أن��ت تعلم أنني عندما أعلنت‬ ‫إستراتيجية إط��ف��اء اآلب��ار ل��م يكن هدفي تعطيل المصالح‬ ‫األمريكية إنما كان الهدف كسر االحتكار وفتح مجال أوسع‬ ‫للمنافسة الختصار الفترة الزمنية‪ ..‬ولعلك تتذكر أنني أرسلت‬ ‫ل��ك رس��ال��ة أط��ل��ب منك رغبتي ف��ي إدخ��ال ش��رك��ات أمريكية‬ ‫أخرى من الصف الثاني"‪ ،‬فهمس في أذني قائ ً‬ ‫ال‪ :‬نعم نعم ولكن‬ ‫إستراتيجيتك سببت لي صداعاً في الرأس فقلت مستغرباً لماذا؟‬ ‫فرد قائ ً‬ ‫ال‪ :‬اتصل بي الرئيس بوش مباشرة وق��ال لماذا شركات‬ ‫اإلطفاء األمريكية في الكويت تتذمر؟!! وعندها فقط علمت حجم‬ ‫المصالح ومستوى التدخل وال يخفى على القارئ أن عائلة الرئيس‬ ‫األمريكي السابق بوش من والية تكساس الغنية بالبترول ولها‬ ‫مصالح نفطية وه��ذا تفسير تجاوب البيت األبيض مع مدير‬ ‫إح��دى ش��رك��ات اإلط��ف��اء األمريكية عندما طلب منه موافقة‬ ‫وزارة الدفاع األمريكية (‪ )pentagon‬على إرسال الطائرات‬ ‫العمالقة لنقل معدات اإلطفاء الضخمة من هيوستن إلى‬ ‫الكويت بينما عجزت حكومة الكويت على كل المستويات‬ ‫تحقيق هذا الطلب كما ذكرنا سابقاً‪.‬‬

‫والدرس الذي تعلمناه هنا هو انه مهما كان حجم المصالح‬ ‫ومستوى النفوذ لتعطيل المصالح الوطنية يمكن أن تفشل‬ ‫إذا توفر القرار الصائب والمبادرة في التنفيذ في الوقت‬ ‫المناسب واإلرادة ال��ق��وي��ة وق��ب��ل ك��ل ذل��ك التخطيط‬ ‫السليم واأله��م من ذل��ك توفيق الله سبحانه وتعالى‬ ‫{وم��ن يتق الله يجعل له مخرجاً وي��رزق��ه من حيث‬ ‫ال يحتسب} وبالفعل جاءنا ال��رزق من الله ووفرنا‬ ‫مليارات ال��دوالرات وحفظنا ثروتنا من النفاذ وفي‬ ‫الحلقة القادمة سنتطرق إل��ى حجم ال��ث��روة التي‬ ‫تم المحافظة عليها باختصار الفترة الزمنية من‬ ‫سنوات إلى سبعة أشهر‪.‬‬

‫كبر تحدي واجهني في حياتي على اإلطالق ‪ ،‬إطفاء آبار النفط‬ ‫الكويتية المشتعلة ‪ ،‬بعد تحرير الكويت مباشرة ‪ ...‬إنها أيام ال تنسى‬ ‫أجمع الخبراء بأن اإلطفاء والسيطرة على اآلبار يتطلب عدة سنوات‬ ‫فلما أنجزت المهمة في سبعة أشهر قيل أنها معجزة !! كيف حدث‬ ‫ذلك؟‪ ..‬في هذه السلسلة نكشف األسرار لحرائق اآلبار في قصص‬ ‫مثيرة فيها دروس وعبر وفيرة ألجيال طموحة‪.‬‬

‫وبفضل الله سبحانه وتعالى أنجزت المهمة وتم إطفاء آخر بئر بعد مرور‬ ‫ستة أشهر وواحد وعشرين يوماً من إعالن اإلستراتيجية وتأتي بمشيئة‬ ‫الله تعالى إصابة الهدف في القلب‪ ..‬وقيل أنها معجزة ولكن أقول {وما‬ ‫رميت إذ رميت ولكن الله رمى} وإنها توفيق من الله تعالى قبل أن تكون‬ ‫خطة وإستراتيجية‪.‬‬

‫عيد‬ ‫األم‬ ‫ا‬

‫عتاد كثير من الناس على إطالق شعارات معادية لهذا اليوم ‪ ،‬و في مقابلهم اعتاد‬ ‫عدد أكبر منه على االحتفال به ‪ ،‬فأيهما أنت ؟‬

‫ال تكن بخيال ً بالعطاء ليكون هذا اليوم انطالقة لنا لنجعل أيامنا كلها فرح كل يوم‬ ‫له مناسبة خاصة‪ ،‬كل يوم له لون جميل ينير حياتنا‪ ،‬فال شي أجمل من االحتفال‪،‬‬ ‫أسعى لتكون مصدر بهجة لكل من حولك كن شخص مرنا ً يحب احلياة و ال‬ ‫يضايقه االحتفال مبعاني احلياة اجلملية ‪ ،‬فاحتفالك بعيد األم ال يعد خيانة ألمك‬ ‫‪ ،‬ألنك تتذكرها دائما ً و في كل أيام السنة و لكنك جتعلها مركز األحداث التي‬ ‫تدور ‪ ،‬فال اعتقد أنك تريد أن حترم والدتك من الشعور أنها تعادل كل نساء العالم‬ ‫في مثل هذا اليوم ‪ ،‬و ال داعي للتخطيط الطويل ملثل هذا اليوم و لله احلمد نحن‬ ‫نعيش في زمن التسهيالت فكل شي متوفر من حولنا و نستطيع احلصول عليه‬ ‫باتصال هاتفي أو حتى بكبسة زر ‪ ،‬فكر أنك محظوظ ألنك تستطيع أن تفاجئ‬ ‫والدتك في مثل هذا اليوم لسببني بسيطني‪ ،‬األول أن والدتك على قيد احلياة و‬ ‫لله احلمد فبعضهم قد حرم من والدته و يتمنى أن يعود به الزمن ليحتفل معها‬ ‫كما يتمنى لو أنه قد حكم عقله قبل معاداته ملثل هذا اليوم و تسبب بحرمان والدته‬ ‫من شي جميل يدخل الفرح على قلبها أو أنه لم يحظى بأم من األساس و يعتصر‬ ‫قلبه أملا ً كلما رأى التاريخ على الرزنامة ‪ ،‬و السبب الثاني أن هناك من ال يستطيع‬ ‫أن يشتري لوالدته شيء فيلجأ إلى يديه ليصنع لها شيء بسيط يشعر باخلجل و‬ ‫الضعف عندما يقدمه لها و لكنها تفرح و كأنه قد قدم لها الكون بني يديه أو كأنه‬ ‫قد صنع لها عقد من جنوم السماء لها فقط ‪ ،‬أمتنى أن تفكروا ً جيدا ً قبل أن‬ ‫متتنعوا عن االحتفال بهذا اليوم ألنني أحب أن أرى وجوه األمهات فيه فأرى و كأن‬ ‫وجه كل واحدة منهن قد حتول إلى شمس ساطعة مياثل الفجر بجماله البديع ‪،‬‬ ‫فكل عام و كل أم بألف خير ‪ ،‬و كل عام و أمي بجانبي ألحتفل معها ‪.‬‬

‫بالنسبة لي أنا أحب كل مناسبة تساعدنا على إظهار مشاعرنا ملن نحب فال أرى‬ ‫أي مانع من االحتفال بهذا اليوم‪ ،‬فكل أم تنتظر هذا اليوم ليس ألنه اليوم الوحيد‬ ‫املخصص لها في السنة بل ألنها أينما تذهب ترى مظاهر االحتفال بهذا اليوم‬ ‫و تريد أن تكون كباقي الناس ‪ ،‬تريد أن تكون جزء من هذا احلدث فال أروع‬ ‫من شعور االنتماء ‪ ،‬فهي عندما تتصفح اجلريدة اليومية مثال ً ترى اإلعالنات‬ ‫التنافسية للشركات التي تقدم عروضا ً خاصة لهذه املناسبة ‪ ،‬إنني على علم أنك‬ ‫لو قدمت لها شيئا ً في هذا اليوم سوف تطير من الفرحة حتى لو لم تظهر ذلك‬ ‫‪ ،‬على األقل ستشعر أنك واعي ملا يحدث من حولك ‪ ،‬اجعلها عادة ً فاألم قبل كل‬ ‫شيء امرأة و حتب اخلصوصية ‪ ،‬حتب أن يتذكرها كل احمليطني بها ‪ ،‬ال حترم‬ ‫والدتك من أن تكون كباقي أمهات العالم أو على األقل كباقي أمهات الكويت الالتي‬ ‫يُحتفل بهن في مثل هذا اليوم ‪ ،‬كن ممن يُدخل الفرحة على قلبها ‪ ،‬و لو قابلتك‬

‫بالرفض هذا العام ‪ ،‬كررها العام املقبل و أنا متأكدة أنها ستقول في نفسها “‬ ‫خنشوف فالن شنو راح إييب هذي السنة بعد “ ‪ ،‬مرة بعد األخرى ستكون في‬ ‫انتظارك و في النهاية سوف تقدر مجهودك ألنك جعلتها جزء من حدث يقام على‬ ‫أرض املعمورة‪ ،‬بل حتى إنها سوف تتباهى بهديتك أو مفاجئتك بني صديقاتها و‬ ‫أهلكم ‪ ،‬عيد األم ليس يوما ً لتذكر األم ألننا لم و لن ننسى أمهاتنا بل اعتقد أنه‬ ‫احتفاال ً باألمومة كمفهومها املجرد ‪ ،‬فكم من امرأة قد حرمت من هذا الشعور‬ ‫الرائع ‪ ،‬و كم من امرأة أصبحت أما ً دون أن تنجب ‪،‬‬

‫ارق بن زياد‪ ...‬أحد القادة البارزين الذين سجلوا أسماءهم في صفحات‬ ‫تاريخ املسلمني املجيدة‪ ،‬مثل «خالد بن الوليد» و«سعد بن أبى وقاص» و«عمرو‬ ‫بن العاص» ‪ ،‬و«صالح الدين األيوبي»‪ .‬فعلى يد «طارق بن زياد» قامت دولة‬ ‫للمسلمني في بالد «األندلس» املعروفة اآلن بإسبانيا و«البرتغال»‪ ،‬والتي ظلت قائمة‬ ‫هناك ثمانية قرون‪ .‬وهذا البطل العظيم ليس من أصل عربي‪ ،‬ولكنه من أهالي‬ ‫البربر الذين يسكنون بالد «املغرب» العربي‪ ،‬فهو بربري من قبيلة الصدف التي‬ ‫كانت مضارب خيامها في جبال املغرب العالية‪ .‬وهي قبيلة شديدة البأس‪ ,‬ديانتها‬ ‫وثنية‪ ,‬وكثير من هؤالء البربر دخل في اإلسالم بعد أن تولى موسى بن نصير مهمة‬ ‫نشر اإلسالم في شمال أفريقيا‪ ،‬حيث بدأت القبائل الوثنية باعتناق اإلسالم ومن‬ ‫بينهم قبيلة طارق بن زياد‪ ,‬ويعتبر «عبد الله» جد «طارق بن زياد» أول اسم عربي‬ ‫إسالمي في نسبه‪.‬‬ ‫نشأ «طارق بن زياد» مثلما ينشأ األطفال املسلمون‪ ،‬فتعلم القراءة والكتابة وحفظ‬ ‫سورا من القرآن الكرمي وبعضا من أحاديث النبي –صلى الله عليه وسلم‪ ،-‬ثم‬ ‫ساعده حبه للجندية في أن يلتحق بجيش «موسى بن نصير» أمير «املغرب»‪ ،‬وأن‬ ‫يشترك معه في الفتوح اإلسالمية‪ ،‬وأظهر شجاعة فائقة في القتال‪ ،‬ومهارة كبيرة‬ ‫في القيادة لفتت أنظار «موسى بن نصير»‪ ،‬فأعجب مبهاراته وقدراته‪ ،‬واختاره‬ ‫حاكما لطنجة املغربية التي تطل على البحر األبيض املتوسط‪ .‬وكان احللم األكبر‬ ‫الذي يراود طارق بن زياد هو اجتياز املاء إلى اجلهة األخرى واجتياح إسبانيا‪،‬‬ ‫التي كانت حتت حكم ملك ظالم يدعى «لذريق»‪ ،‬كرهه الناس وفكروا في خلعه‬ ‫من احلكم والثورة عليه باالستعانة باملسلمني الذي يحكمون الشمال اإلفريقي بعد‬ ‫أن سمعوا كثي ًرا عن عدلهم‪ ،‬وتوسط لهم الكونت «يوليان» حاكم «سبتة» القريبة‬ ‫من «طنجة» في إقناع املسلمني مبساعدتهم‪ ،‬واتصل بطارق بن زياد يعرض عليه‬ ‫مساعدته في التخلص من «لذريق» حاكم األندلس‪ ،‬وهنا رحب «طارق» بهذا الطلب‪،‬‬ ‫ووجد فيه فرصة طيبة ملواصلة الفتح واجلهاد‪ ،‬ونشر اإلسالم وتعريف الشعوب‬ ‫مببادئه السمحة‪ ،‬فأرسل إلى «موسى بن نصير» أمير «املغرب» يستأذنه في فتح‬ ‫«األندلس»‪ ،‬والذي طلب منه االنتظار حتى يرسل إلى خليفة املسلمني «الوليد بن‬ ‫عبد امللك» بهذا العرض ‪ ،‬ويستأذنه في فتح «األندلس» ويشرح له حقيقة األوضاع‬ ‫هناك ‪ ،‬فأذن له اخلليفة ‪ ،‬وطلب منه أن يسبق الفتح حملة استطالعية يكشف‬ ‫بها أحوال «األندلس» قبل أن يخوض أهوال البحر‪ ,‬وبالطبع قام طارق بن زياد‬ ‫ً‬ ‫جيشا من العرب‬ ‫برحلة استكشافية كللت بالنجاح‪ .‬بعد ذلك‪ ,‬جهز موسى بن نصير‬ ‫والبربر يبلغ سبعة آالف مقاتل بقيادة طارق بن زياد فعبر البحر من ستبة في سفن‬ ‫(جوليان) وقاد طارق بن زياد جيش املسلمني واجتاز املضيق الذي يفصل بني شمال‬ ‫أفريقيا وأوروبا‪ ،‬والذي أصبح يعرف فيما بعد باسمه (مضيق طارق بن زياد)‪،‬‬ ‫والتقى اجلمعان بالقرب من نهر» لكه»‪ .‬ووقف طارق بن زياد يومها أمام جنوده‬ ‫وألقى خطبته املشهورة‪:‬‬ ‫«أيها الناس أين املف ّر؟ البحر من ورائكم والعدو من أمامكم‪ ،‬وليس لكم والله إال‬ ‫الصدق والصبر‪ ..‬وإني لم ِّ‬ ‫أحذركم أمراً أنا عنه بنجو‪ ..‬واعلموا إنكم إن صبرمت‬ ‫األلذ طوي ً‬ ‫على األشـقّ قلي ً‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫ال استمتعتم باألرفهِ‬ ‫حملت فاحملوا وإن وقفت‬ ‫ال‪ ..‬وإن‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫فقفوا‪ .‬ثم كونوا كهيئة رجل واحد في القتال‪ .‬أال وإني عامد إلى طاغيتهم بحيث‬ ‫ِلت فال تهنوا وال حتزنوا وال تنازعوا‬ ‫ال أتهيبه حتى أخالطه أو أُقتَ َل دونه‪ .‬فإن قت ُ‬ ‫فتفشلوا وتذهب ريحكم وتو ّلوا الدبر لعد ّوكم فتب ّددوا بني قتيل وأسير»‪ .‬ثم هجم‬ ‫فدب الرعب في قلوبهم‪ ,‬أما قائدهم لذريق فلمحه‬ ‫املسلمون على جيش القوط‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫طارق بن زياد وص ّوب رمحه نحوه وأرداه قتي ً‬ ‫ال وبعد هذه املعركة صارت الطريق‬ ‫ممهدة أمام املسلمني لفتح البالد‪ .‬وفتح طارق املدن األسبانية واحدة تلو األخرى‪،‬‬ ‫لكنه احتاج إلى املدد فكاتب موسى بن نصير الذي سارع لألندلس على رأس جيش‬ ‫قوامه ‪ 18‬ألف مقاتل من العرب والبربر وذلك سنة ‪ .712‬واحتد اجليش مع جيش‬ ‫طارق بن زياد‪ ،‬حيث خاض اجليش املوحد معركة «وادي موسى» التي هزم املسلمون‬ ‫فيها جموع القوط ودانت لهم بعد هذا النصر األندلس كلها‪.‬‬

‫مضيق جبل طارق‬

‫لطارق بن زياد فضل كبير في إخضاع القبائل البربرية في شمال أفريقيا وفي فتح‬ ‫األندلس وهزم القوط في «معركة نهر لكه» و«معركة وادي موسى»‪ ,‬بالرغم من قلة‬ ‫وشح املساعدات‪ ،‬وبالرغم من املصاعب التي واجهها في بالد يدخلها أل ّول‬ ‫جنده‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫مرة‪ ،‬إال انه استطاع فتح األندلس وحتقيق االنتصار‪ .‬والغرض من هذا التقدمي‬ ‫البسيط هو لفت االنتباه للمسلمني غير العرب‪ ,‬وخاصة البربر بشمال إفريقيا‪ ,‬ملا‬ ‫قدموه من إعمال بطولية نصرة لإلسالم‪ .‬وما طارق بن زياد سوى منوذج للعديد‬ ‫من هؤالء األبطال الذين برزوا في شتى امليادين ومنهم‪ :‬يحيى بن يحيى بن كثير‬ ‫الذي نشر املذهب املالكي في األندلس‪ ،‬واملخترع عباس بن فرناس أول من حاول‬ ‫الطيران وغيرهم‪..‬‬

‫طارق بن زياد‪..‬‬ ‫فاحت األندلس‬

‫‪ 1‬استمع استمع استمع! نعم عليك أن تستمع وبإخالص ملن يحدثك‪ ،‬تستمع له‬‫حتى تفهمه‪ ،‬ال أن تخدعه أو تلقط منه عثرات وزالت من بني ثنايا كلماته‪ ،‬استمع‬ ‫وأنت ترغب في فهمه‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 2‬ال جتهز الرد في نفسك وأنت تستمع له‪ ،‬وال تستعجل ردك على من يحدثك‪،‬‬‫وتستطيع حتى تأجيل الرد ملدة معينة حتى جتمع أفكارك وتصيغها بشكل جيد‪،‬‬ ‫ومن اخلطأ االستعجال في الرد‪ ،‬ألنه يؤدي بدوره لسوء الفهم‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 3‬اجته بجسمك كله ملن يتحدث لك‪ ،‬فإن لم يكن‪ ،‬فبوجهك على األقل‪ ،‬ألن‬‫املتحدث يتضايق ويحس بأنك تهمله إن لم نتظر له أو تتجه له‪ ،‬وفي حادثة طريفة‬ ‫تؤكد هذا املعنى‪ ،‬كان طفل يحدث أباه املشغول في قراءة اجلريدة‪ ،‬فذهب الطفل‬ ‫وأمسك رأس أبيه وأداره جتاهه وكلمه!!‪ ‬‬

‫ي حياتنا‪ ،‬ومنذ صغرنا نتعلم كيف نتصل مع الناس اآلخرين بالوسائل‬ ‫املتعددة‪ ،‬احلديث والكتابة والقراءة‪ ،‬ويتم التركيز على هذه املهارات في‬ ‫املناهج املدرسية بكثافة‪ ،‬لكن بقية وسيلة اتصالية لم نعرها أي اهتمام مع أنها من‬ ‫أهم الوسائل االتصالية‪ ،‬أال وهي االستماع‪.‬‬ ‫ال بد لكل اإلنسان أن يقضي معظم حياته في هذه الوسائل االتصالية األربعة‪،‬‬ ‫احلديث‪ ،‬الكتابة‪ ،‬القراءة‪ ،‬واالستماع‪ ،‬ألن ظروف احلياة هي التي تفرض هذا‬ ‫الشيء عليه‪.‬‬ ‫واالستماع يعد أهم وسيلة اتصالية‪ ،‬فحتى تفهم الناس من حولك ال بد أن تستمع‬ ‫لهم‪ ،‬وتستمع بكل صدق‪ ،‬ال يكفي فقط أن تستمع وأنت جتهز الرد عليهم أو حتاول‬ ‫إدارة دفة احلديث‪ ،‬فهذا ال يسمى استماعاً على اإلطالق‪ ،‬في كتاب ستيفن كوفي‬ ‫العادات السبع ألكثر الناس إنتاجية‪ ،‬حتدث الكاتب عن أب يجد أن عالقته بابنه‬ ‫ليست على ما يرام‪ ،‬فقال لستيفن‪ :‬ال أستطيع أن أفهم ابني‪ ،‬فهو ال يريد االستماع‬ ‫إلي أبداً‪.‬‬ ‫فرد ستيفن‪ :‬دعني أرتب ما قلته للتو‪ ،‬أنت ال تفهم ابنك ألنه ال يريد االستماع‬ ‫إليك؟‬ ‫فرد عليه “هذا صحيح»‬ ‫ستيفن‪ :‬دعني أجرب مرة أخرى أنت ال تفهم ابنك ألنه ‪-‬هو‪ -‬ال يريد االستماع‬ ‫إليك أنت؟‬ ‫فرد عليه بصبر نافذ‪ :‬هذا ما قلته‪.‬‬ ‫ستيفن‪ :‬أعتقد أنك كي تفهم شخصاً آخر فأنت بحاجة ألن تستمع له‪.‬‬ ‫فقال األب‪ :‬أوه (تعبيراً عن صدمته) ثم جاءت فترة صمت طويلة‪ ،‬وقال مرة أخرى‪:‬‬ ‫أوه!‬ ‫إن هذا األب منوذج صغير للكثير من الناس‪ ،‬الذي يرددون في أنفسهم أو أمامنا‪:‬‬ ‫إنني ال أفهمه‪ ،‬إنه ال يستمع لي! واملفروظ أنك تستمع له ال أن يستمع لك!‬

‫إن االستماع ليست مهارة فحسب‪ ،‬بل هي وصفة أخالقية يجب أن نتعلمها‪ ،‬إننا‬ ‫نستمع لغيرنا ال ألننا نريد مصلحة منهم لكن لكي نبني عالقات وطيدة معهم‪.‬‬ ‫تكلمنا في ما سبق عن أهمية االستماع واإلنصات‪ ،‬وفي هذا اجلزء نتحدث عن‬ ‫األسلوب العملي الذي علينا اتباعه في أثناء االستماع لآلخرين‪ ،‬ولنتذكر أننا إذا‬ ‫أردنا فهم اآلخرين فعلينا أوالً أن نستمع لهم‪ ،‬ثم سيفهمونا هم إن حتدثنا إليهم‬ ‫بوعي حول ما يدور في أنفسهم‪.‬‬

‫‪ 5‬ال تقاطع أبداً‪ ،‬ولو طال احلديث لساعات! وهذه نصيحة مجربة كثيراً ولطاملا‬‫حلت مشاكل باالستماع فقط‪ ،‬لذلك ال تقاطع أبداً واستمع حتى النهاية‪ ،‬وهذه‬ ‫النصيحة مهمة بني األزواج وبني الوالدين وأبنائهم وبني اإلخوان وبني كل الناس‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 6‬بعد أن ينتهي املتكلم من حديثه خلص كالمه بقولك‪ :‬أنت تقصد كذا وكذا‪....‬‬‫صحيح؟ فإن أجاب بنعم فتحدث أنت‪ ،‬وإن أجاب بال فاسأله أن يوضح أكثر‪ ،‬وهذا‬ ‫خير من أن تستعجل الرد فيحدث سوء تفاهم‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 7‬ال تفسر كالم املتحدث من وجهة نظرك أنت‪ ،‬بل حاول أن تتقمص شخصيته‬‫وأن تنظر إلى األمور من منظوره هو ال أنت‪ ،‬وإن طبقت هذه النصيحة فستجد أنك‬ ‫سريع التفاهم مع الغير‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 8‬حاول أن تتوافق مع حالة املتحدث النفسية‪ ،‬فإن كان غاضباً فال تطلب منه‬‫أن يهدئ من روعه‪ ،‬بل كن جاداً واستمع له بكل هدوء‪ ،‬وإن وجدت إنسان حزيناً‬ ‫فاسأله ما يحزنه ثم استمع له ألنه يريد احلديث ملن سيستمع له‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 9‬عندما يتكلم أحدنا عن مشكلة أو أحزان فإنه يعبر عن مشاعر لذلك عليك أن‬‫تلخص كالمه وتعكسها على شكل مشاعر يحس بها هو‪ ،‬آخذت مثاالً من كتاب‬ ‫ستيفن كوفي “العادات السبع ألكثر الناس إنتاجية»‬ ‫االبن‪ :‬أبي لقد اكتفيت! املدرسة لصغار العقول فقط‬ ‫األب‪ :‬يبدو أنك محبط فع ً‬ ‫ال‬ ‫االبن‪ :‬أنا كذلك بكل تأكيد‬ ‫في هذا احلوار الصغير لم يغضب األب‪ ،‬ولم يأنب ابنه ويتهمه بالكسل والتقصير‪،‬‬ ‫بل عكس شعور االبن فقط‪ ،‬وفي الكتاب تكملة للحور على هذا املنوال حتى وصل‬ ‫االبن إلى قناعة إلى أن الدراسة مهمة وإلى اتخاذ خطوات عملية لتحسني مستواه‬ ‫في الدراسة‪.‬‬ ‫أنقل لكم بعض املقترحات التي سطرها ستيفن كوفي في كتابه‪ ،‬وهو الكتاب الذي‬ ‫اعتمدت عليه في موضوعي هذا‪ ،‬طبقها خالل أسبوع وانظر إلى النتائج بعد هذا‬ ‫األسبوع وأخبروني إذا أردمت مشاركتنا في جتاربكم اإليجابية‪ ‬‬ ‫‪ 1‬حيث تسنح لك الفرصة مراقبة أشخاص يتحدثون اغلق أذنيك لبضع دقائق‬‫وراقب فقط أي انفعاالت والتي قد ال تظهرها الكلمات وحدها‪.‬‬ ‫‪ 2‬راقب نفسك كلما كنت في حوار مع أي شخص‪ ،‬واضبط نفسك إن حاولت أن‬‫تقيم أو تفسر حديث الشخص بشكل خاطئ‪ ،‬واعتذر له واطلب منه أن يعيد احلوار‬ ‫مرة أخرى‪ ،‬جربت هذه الطريقة من قبل وكان لها مفعوالً عجيباً على الطرف‬ ‫اآلخر‪.‬‬ ‫مالحظة أخيرة‪ :‬االستماع متعب حقاً لكنه بالتأكيد خير من وجود خالف وسوء‬ ‫تفاهم‪.‬‬

‫إن عدم معرفتنا بأهمية مهارة االستماع تؤدي بدورها حلدوث الكثير من سوء‬ ‫الفهم‪ ،‬الذي يؤدي بدوره إلى تضييع األوقات واجلهود واألموال والعالقات التي كنا‬ ‫نتمنا ازدهارها‪ ،‬ولو لالحظت مث ً‬ ‫ال املشاكل الزوجية‪ ،‬عادة ما تنشء من قصور في‬ ‫ً‬ ‫مهارة االستماع خصوصاً عند الزوج‪ ،‬وإذا كان هذا القصور مشتركا بني الزوجني‬ ‫تتأزم العالقة بينهم كثيراً‪ ،‬ألنهم ال يحسنون االستماع لبعضهم البعض‪ ،‬فال‬ ‫يستطيعون فهم بعضهم البعض‪ ،‬الكل يريد احلديث لكي يفهم الطرف اآلخر! لكن‬ ‫ال يريد أحدهم االستماع!!‬

‫‪ 4‬بني للمتحدث أنك تستمع‪ ،‬أنا أقول بني ال تتظاهر! ألنك إن تظاهرت بأنك‬‫ال أو عاج ً‬ ‫تستمع ملن يحدثك فسيكتشف ذلك إن آج ً‬ ‫ال‪ ،‬بني له أنك تستمع حلديثه‬ ‫بأن تقول‪ :‬نعم‪ ...‬صحيح أو تهمهم‪ ،‬أو تومئ برأسك‪ ،‬املهم بني له باحلركات‬ ‫والكلمات أنك تستمع له‪.‬‬

10 minutes of exercise a day This is not asking a lot. It is only 10 minutes! The reason I say this is because below you will see that I say you need to eat plenty of fiber. This is so you have a bowel movement more often and get rid of that other yucky fecal matter that is left in your body. But to do that you need to get your insides moving around. n December 2009, we’ve all heard of the Wall of Shame that Egypt is building along Egypt’s border with the Gaza Strip. By building that Steel Wall it shows that Egypt is siding with Israel, in isolating the 1.5 million Palestinians living in the seaside enclave and it shows a total obedience from the Egyptian government to the American recommendations.

The Wall of Shame goes 20 to 30 meters underground; this underground barrier is made to prevent tunneling by smugglers along Egypt’s border with the Gaza Strip, which is the only way to the Palestinians in Gaza to get their needs, those tunnels were considered lifelines to Palestinians who faced shortages because of Israel’s siege of the territory. CNN reported that, The wall was designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the wall is bomb proof and cannot be cut or melted, America has paid over 50 million dollars in order to build that burier. The Egyptian government is alleging that they are building the wall for the country’s own security, the Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said “Whether it is a wall, sensors or tapping devices . . . what matters is that Egyptian territory must be protected, Whoever says Egypt is imposing its control on the border, we tell them this is Egypt’s full right.” While the truth this wall is just another effort to stiffen the ongoing siege over our fellow Muslims in Gaza, when the real threat to the Egyptian national security is Israel. “We can understand, when the Israeli government uses the same methods as the Nazis in transforming the Gaza Strip into a huge concentration camp” wrote Abd Al Bari Atwan. “But what we cannot understand or accept is that the Egyptian government -- and not the Egyptian people -- should take part in such a crime for fear of the Israelis, and in an attempt to appease the U.S. and getting nothing in return except humiliation and dishonor.” From my side, I thank the American government for taking the Israeli side and Make the Palestinians suffer more. I thank them for proving that the American policy among the Middle East is still the same, “50 million dollars to build the wall, WOW”. Thank you for proving that no good will come from the American government to the Palestinian case.

The prophet Peace and blessings be upon him was put under Bani Hashim’s siege in Makkah, along with his companions, for 3 years. That siege resulted in leaders who brought victory to the world, east and west. I believe as lots of other people do that the Palestinian youth have changed over the past few years, and have become knowledgeable of their faith, especially with regards to acts of worship, obedience to Allah and the struggle against oppression. They are the strongest in faith and the best to hold on their religion, sacrifice their lives and work hard. They no longer fear anything but their Creator. Inchallah this siege will bring victory to the Palestinians. To all my brothers and sisters in Islam, do not forget to help the Palestinians, help them with everything you could by dou’aa , donations, demonstrations…etc. keep saying the truth no matter what it takes. The prophet PBUH said: “The one who is silent about the truth is a silent devil”.

‫وفي أحد هذه البيوت في بنت فقيره اسمها “شيوخه” كانت تعيش مع م ْرة أبوها‬ ‫وأختها من أبوها‪ ,‬وفي يوم من األيام اطلبت منها م ْرة أبوها إنها تروح بيت يارتهم‬ ‫“ام عيوش” وتييب منها دهن عداني وماكانت تدري “شيوخه” منو هالعيوز‪..‬‬ ‫املهم راحت تسأل اجليران عن بيت “أم عيوش” وكل من يقول لها‪ :‬انتي مينونه!‬ ‫تروحني بريولج حق هذي العيوز الشريره! وبعضهم كان يقول انها ساحره‪ .‬بس‬ ‫“شيوخه” كانت الزم تسمع كالم م ْرة ابوها‪ .‬ودلوها اجليران على بيت “أم عيوش”‬ ‫البعيد عنهم ووصوها انها اتسوي العكس من اللي تطلبه منها وراحت هناك وطقت‬ ‫الباب مره ومرتني وبعدين اسمعت صوت خشن‪ :‬منو! قالت “شيوخه” انا شيوخه‬ ‫جارجت يا ام عيوش الله يخليج فتحي الباب‪ ..‬وملا افتحت الباب لقت جدامها‬ ‫اعوذ بالله سعلوه اتخرع ما كأنها آدميه خافت املسكينه شيوخه بس تشجعت‬ ‫وسلمت عليها وقالت لها‪ :‬م ْرة ابوي تسلم عليج وتقول انها تبي دهن عداني منج‪..‬‬ ‫تعطيني الله يخليج!! ردت “ام عيوش”‪ :‬دخلي املطبخ اخذي الدهن وعلى طريجج‬ ‫كسري املواعني ووسخي املطبخ‪ ..‬استغربت “شيوخه” من كالمها بس تذكرت‬ ‫كالم اجليران انها تسوي عكس ما تطلبه منها‪ ..‬وراحت تنظف املواعني وتخم‬ ‫األرض وخلت كل شي نظيف وجتها “ام عيوش” وشافت كل شي نظيف وقالت‬ ‫بقلبها‪ :‬هذي خوش بنيه وتفهم كل شي! ونادتها‪ :‬يالله روحي احلوش ووسخيه‬ ‫وراحت شيوخه تنظفه مثل ما نظفت املطبخ وبعدين ملا خلصت استانست “ام‬ ‫عيوش” من “شيوخه” وايد وايد ونادتها في الليوان علشان جتازيها وقالت لها يال‬ ‫كمشي شعري‪ .‬وقامت “شيوخه” خذت املشط وقامت امتشط شعر “ام عيوش”‬ ‫وقالت لها‪ :‬شوفي آنا بنام أحلني وشوفي السماء ملا متر الغيمه احلمره خليها‬ ‫تروح وملا متر الغيمه البيضه هم خليها تروح بس عاد لي مرت الغيمه السوده‬ ‫قعديني‪ ..‬ونامت‪ ....‬و“شيوخه” اقعدت متشط شعر “ام عيوش” مرت الغيمه‬ ‫احلمره والبيضه وما قعدتها تالي مرت الغيمه السوده وقعدت “ام عيوش” وقامت‬

hese two great footballers one from Argentina while the other one from France. They both have one thing in common. They both helped their team secure victory with the aids of their hand. In the case of Diego Maradona, it occurred at the 1986 World Cup Football. The match, between two of the biggest powers in world football, is remembered as one of the most epic in FIFA World Cup history due to the Hand of God controversy. For Argentina, Diego Maradona scored two of the most famous goals in football history. His first, after fifty one minutes, was the Hand of God goal in which Maradona scored via an infamous handball. The match eventually ended 2-1 in favor of Argentina, but the whole world will never forget the image of Maradona scoring with his hands. An international uproar was created between Ireland and France on November 19th 2009 when France advanced to the 2010 World Cup thanks to a no-call on a Thierry Henry hand ball that set up the William Gallasâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; overtime goal. It was a cruel way for Ireland to be eliminated, and television replay later showed that Thierry Henry used his hands to control the ball inside the eighteen yard box before making the decisive pass to

Samsung unveils World’s First 4G Netbook W

ith the Mobile World Congress in full swing, Samsung has a long list of launches in store for techies all over the world. This one, however, might be one of the more interesting ones — Samsung’s first-ever LTE (Long Term Evolution) 4G netbook.

The LTE 4G netbook is basically an upgraded Samsung N150 netbook. It’s still the same 10-inch ultraportable, and it doesn’t lose the specs it used to have, such as its 1.66GHz Pine Trail-era Atom processor, storage space up to 250GB, 1GB RAM, and an 8.5-hour battery (with the 4G turned off). The difference is that the LTE 4G netbook sports Samsung’s new 4G chipset, dubbed “Kalmia.” Developed by Samsung itself, Kalmia is capable of 100Mbps download speeds. Pretty good, although it remains to be seen how the increased data transfer speeds will interact with the rest of the system components. Samsung’s proprietary-enhanced battery life solution to deliver exceptional battery performance of up to 8.5 hours.

Samsung’s marketing strategy with regards to the new LTE 4G netbook is also a little unclear at this point, and that’s understandable — a clear roll-out schedule for 4G technology is not known. Nevertheless, the US will likely be seeing the LTE netbook later this year (carried by Verizon), followed by Canada (Bell and Telus).

Hospital-Clean Hands, Without All the Scrubbing H

OSPITAL workers often have to wash their hands dozens of times a day — and may need a minute or more to do the process right, by scrubbing with soap and water. But new devices could reduce the task to just four seconds, cleaning even hard-to-reach areas under fingernails.

Instead of scrubbing, the workers would put their hands into a small box that bathes them with plasma — the same sort of luminous gas found in neon signs, fluorescent tubes and TV displays. This plasma, though, is at room temperature and pressure, and is engineered to zap germs, including the drug-resistant supergerm MRSA.

The technology is being developed in several laboratories. Gregor Morfill, who created several prototypes using the technology at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany, says the plasma quickly inactivates not only bacteria but also viruses and fungi. Dr. Morfill and his colleagues have tested their devices on hands and feet. “It works on athlete’s foot,” he said. “And the nice thing is, you don’t have to take your socks off. They are disinfected, too.” (The cleaning takes a bit longer when socks are added to the job, he said — about 25 seconds. “And it doesn’t yet work through shoes,” he added.) Plasmas engineered to zap microorganisms aren’t new. During the last decade, they have come into use to sterilize some medical

Research in the field of plasma medicine has grown quickly in the last decade, with at least 50 groups worldwide working on medical uses, Professor Kushner estimated. He said that there were many documented cases of plasmas being applied for sanitizing skin or other body parts, and “for speeding the rate of blood clotting in wound healing.” “Plasmas turn out to have beneficial effects,” he said. Dr. Morfill, who has a plasma research laboratory inside the international space station, took an unusual route to studying medical uses of plasmas. He was researching the natural plasmas of space, including the charged dust in Saturn’s rings, and decided to develop plasmas for health on earth.

Many other cleaning applications of plasma are being researched. In addition to hand sanitizers, Michael G. Kong, a professor of bioelectrics engineering at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, England, has developed a prototype for plasma jets that can be built into air-conditioning systems. As air is transmitted through the system from one hospital room to another, for example, the jets inactivate microorganisms, fungi and viruses in the air. IN the Netherlands, Gerrit M. W. Kroesen, a professor of plasma physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology, is focusing on the treatment of burn wounds. “We have seen that plasmas help with disinfection,” he said. “They also stimulate regeneration of tissue.” The first products to reach hospitals, after surface cleaners and instrument disinfectants, will probably be hand sanitizers, said Alexander Fridman, a professor and director of the Drexel Plasma Institute at Drexel University in Philadelphia. “Hand sanitizers are the low-hanging fruit here,” he said, as their safety can be demonstrated relatively easily. But other potential applications, including treatment of burns or cancers, are further away. “We are able to do miracles with this technology,” he said, “but we have to make sure the treatments are not toxic.”

Reassured by that design, about five years ago he put his naked thumb into a jet of microbe-destroying plasma at the lab of another plasma researcher.

Professor Graves is doing computer simulations of the chemical reactions that occur in the Morfill plasmas. The electric current ionizes the oxygen, nitrogen and water vapor in the air, he said, eventually creating the nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide and particles that are so effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Mp3 And Its Advantages

ew things in my life do I use more often and enjoy than my mp3 music player. Well, maybe its not all that great, but I do really love the idea of mp3 music players. I’m so tired of CDs I could just scream. Sure, they’re way better than the different forms of music storage mediums that came before, but that’s not saying a whole lot. There’s nothing more frustrating than putting on your favorite CD only to hear it skip like crazy during the best songs. Even taking extremely good care of my CDs, they still somehow get scratched all the time. Furthermore, just trying to keep all my CDs organized is a major hassle. I think I’ve spent many hours putting CDs away in different folds and organizing the different CD cases, and while this used to be kind of fun back when I was in high school and didn’t own many albums, now that I’ve got a large collection it is a total drag. For these reasons alone, I’ve been a big fan of mp3 music players since they first started hitting markets several years ago.

The first mp3 music players were ridiculously expensive, but I just had to have one. Maybe I’m just a technology junkie, or maybe I had just finally had enough of CDs. I do remember the first mp3 music players came out shortly after I’d had my main CD holding folder filled with 90% of the music I’d collected over the years stolen. I’m sure that also had something to do with my decision to make the plunge and get an mp3 music player. I’d already spent a small fortune rebuilding my CD collection, so I guess I figured why not spend another small fortune, get an mp3 music player, and never have to worry about stolen or scratched CDs again? While I haven’t been worrying much about stolen or scratched CDs since then, I have been worrying about crappy mp3 music players a lot. The first one I bought was such a piece of garbage compared to the newer ones, its not even funny. Fortunately, the mp3 music player I have now is pretty sweet. It’s made by Panasonic, works with my car and has all sorts of neat little features. Of course, now that the mp3 music players have gotten good, Apple just had to come out with something better. Their iPods are in fact pretty nice, but they of course have their own spiffy music format that doesn’t work with other mp3 music players. Isn’t that just so typically Apple?

After high school, Willis took a job as a security guard at the Salem Nuclear Power Plant and also transported work crews at the DuPont Chambers Works factory in Deepwater, New Jersey. He quit after a colleague was killed on the job, and became a regular at several bars. Willis learned to play the harmonica. In the late-1980s, Willis enjoyed moderate success as a recording artist, recording an album of pop-blues entitled The Return of Bruno, which included the hit single “Respect Yourself”, promoted by a Spinal Tap-like rockumentary parody featuring scenes of him performing at famous events including Woodstock. eethoven and Napoleon never met. However they played their individual roles in the new â&#x20AC;&#x153;Romantic Ageâ&#x20AC;? apparent in Europe at the beginning of the 19th Century.

A lot of people say that the reason for this hunger for scientific information was purely philanthropic. Possibly Beethoven thought so before 1804. Others, perhaps more perspicacious, showed that much of this work was put to almost purely military use. The man was a genius at warfare. Baring in mind the turbulent political climate after the French Revolution, the guillotine executions and the enormous strength of the Secret Police at the time, nobody dared say a thing. Napoleon just got on with it, on pain of death if it was not done. Beethoven, meanwhile, had been looking at the good things coming out of France, particularly during the ‘truce’ of the early 1800’s. He could see the things that Napoleon was doing for the country and its infrastructure as well as its artistic side. Beethoven wrote other pieces during this period, but his Great Work’ at this time was the fabulously innovative ‘Eroica’ symphony.

Napoleon changed the laws of the land (very frequently); he restructured the Civil Service so that it was functional as well as being efficient; he had scientists from all areas working for him to bring France to a stage where it was technically the best in the world. He achieved much. His metric system is used in nearly all countries today. Most Europeans under 20 today would not recognise a gallon or a yard. Litres and metres, with 10 or 100 increments are actually much easier for your average chap (which the French population was at the time) rather than having to multiply by obscure fractions at which the French uneducated population would be inept.

This was dedicated to Napoleon and, no doubt, much of the musical content was composed as a result of the successes of this extraordinary leader. However Napoleon, having re-armed his troops and ships during the ‘truce’ took his ambitions even further. He made himself an Emperor and his family his successors in perpetuity. The Napoleonic Wars resumed and Beethoven was not pleased with this ‘would be’ hero. Beethoven apparently tore out the dedication page of his manuscript for the Third symphony, and simply dedicated it to celebrate a “great man”, whilst renaming the symphony as we know it today as the ‘Eroica’, rather than ‘The Napoleon’. In 1809 Napoleonic forces bombarded Vienna, and Beethoven hid in a cellar with mufflers round his ears frightened that the dreadful noise would remove the last of his remaining ability to hear.

Beethoven, the independent composer of his time, rather liked many of the ideas that Napoleon had. He had managed to build a strong new power with the will of the people, rather than that of the aristocracy whose lack of government as we would know it today was somewhat archaic, and certainly did not involve one’s average citizen.

It is loosely based on the 1999 novel Flashforward by Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. Affleck was born Caleb Casey McGuire Affleck-Boldt in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the second son of Christopher Anne “Chris” (née Boldt), a school district employee and teacher, and Timothy Byers Affleck, a drug counselor, social worker, janitor, auto mechanic, bartender, and former actor with the Theater Company of Boston. He is three years younger than his brother Ben Affleck. As a child he had numerous pets, including cats, snakes, guinea pigs and turtles. Affleck went to The George Washington University and later transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in physics, astronomy, and Western philosophy.

Career Affleck worked sporadically on television while finishing high school and attending college during the early 1990s. In 1993, he appeared in a short film made by his older brother, Ben Affleck, called I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney. Affleck’s first movie role was as a sociopathic teenager in Gus Van Sant’s 1995 dark comedy To Die For, alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Nicole Kidman. After co-starring with Halle Berry in the 1997 box office flop Race the Sun, later that year, he appeared in two films featuring his brother Ben: Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting. ichardson was born and raised in London, a member of the Redgrave family, known as a theatrical and film acting dynasty. She was the daughter of director and producer Tony Richardson and actress Vanessa Redgrave, granddaughter of actors Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, sister of Joely Richardson, niece of actress Lynn Redgrave and actor Corin Redgrave, and cousin of Jemma Redgrave. Richardson’s parents divorced in 1967. The following year, she made her film debut at the age of four in an uncredited role in The Charge of the Light Brigade, directed by her father.

Richardson began her career in regional theatre at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. Her first professional work in London’s West End was in a revival of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in 1985.Soon after, she starred in a London stage production of High Society, adapted from the acclaimed Cole Porter film. In 1998 she won the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her performance in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of the Sam Mendes/Rob Marshall-helmed revival of Kander & Ebb’s Cabaret. The following year she returned to Broadway in Closer, for which she was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play, and in 2005 she appeared again with the Roundabout, this time as Blanche DuBois in their revival of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire, opposite John C. Reilly as Stanley Kowalski.

Richardson made her American television debut in a small role in the 1984 CBS miniseries Ellis Island. That same year she made her UK television debut in an episode of the BBC series Oxbridge Blues. The following year she appeared as Violet Hunter alongside Jeremy Brett and David Burke in The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes, in the episode entitled “The Copper Beeches”. She starred with Judi Dench, Michael Gambon, and Kenneth Branagh in a 1987 BBC adaptation of the Henrik Ibsen play Ghosts; with Maggie Smith and Rob Lowe in a 1993 BBC adaptation of Suddenly, Last Summer by Tennessee Williams; portrayed Zelda Fitzgerald in the 1993 television movie Zelda; and starred in Haven (2001) on CBS and The Mastersons of Manhattan (2007) on NBC. Richardson’s first marriage to filmmaker Robert Fox lasted from 1990 to 1992. She married Irish actor Liam Neeson in the summer of 1994 at the home they shared near Millbrook, New York; she had taken American citizenship. Richardson and Neeson have two sons: Micheál (born 1995) and Daniel (born 1996). Richardson helped raise millions of dollars in the fight against AIDS; her father, director Tony Richardson, died of AIDS-related causes in 1991. Richardson was actively involved in amfAR, becoming a board of trustees member in 2006, and participated in many other AIDS charities including Bailey House, God’s Love We Deliver, Mothers’ Voices, AIDS Crisis Trust and National AIDS Trust, for which she was an ambassador. Richardson received amfAR’s Award of Courage in November 2000. A long-time smoker, Richardson was an outspoken opponent of the ban on smoking in New York City restaurants, although she had reportedly quit smoking. On 16 March 2009, Richardson sustained a head injury when she fell while taking a skiing lesson at the Mont Tremblant Resort in Quebec, about 130 km

from Montreal. The injury was followed by a lucid interval, when Richardson seemed to be fine and was able to talk and act normally. Paramedics and an ambulance which initially responded to the accident were told they were not needed and left. Refusing medical attention, she returned to her hotel room and about three hours later was taken to a local hospital in Sainte-Agathedes-Monts after complaining of a headache. She was transferred from there by ambulance to Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur, Montreal, in critical condition and was admitted about seven hours after the fall. The following day she was flown to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she died on 18 March. An autopsy conducted by the New York City Medical Examiners Office on 19 March revealed the cause of death was an “epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head”, and her death was ruled an accident. On 19 March, theatre lights were dimmed on Broadway and in London’s West End as a mark of respect to Richardson. The following day, a private wake was held at the American Irish Historical Society in Manhattan. On 22 March, a private funeral was held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church near Millbrook, New York, close to the family’s upstate home, and Richardson was buried near her grandmother Rachel in the church cemetery.

The following year she starred opposite Kenneth Branagh and Colin Firth in A Month in the Country, directed by Pat O’Connor. During the last week of January 2009, she recorded her offscreen role of the wife of climber George Mallory, who disappeared while climbing Mount Everest during a 1924 expedition, in the unreleased documentary film The Wildest Dream, for which Liam Neeson provides narration. Director Anthony Geffen described listening to the film since her death as “harrowing.”

Nickname The nickname Kaká , from his native Portuguese , is pronounced as it is spelt. The accent would signify that the stress is on the second syllable. In Italian , the language of his current team, the phonetic equivalent is written as Kakà , which is used for Italian television graphics. However, the player’s shirt name is spelt KAKA’ (with an apostrophe , rather than an accented ‘A’) for both Brazil and Milan. An internet discussion forum explains the nickname as a commonly used shortened form of “Ricardo” in Portuguese. Kaká is supposed to have got his nickname because his little brother Rodrigo could not pronounce the word “Ricardo” when they were young. Rodrigo called his older brother “Caca” which the latter later changed to “Kaká”.

Accident Kaká suffered an accident when he made a faulty jump off a divingboard, resulting in a vertebra fracture. This could have meant the end of his football career, but he believes that god allowed him to recover and become the successful footballer he is now. When AC Milan won the Serie A title in 2004, Ricky, as he is called by his team-mates. He also points his fingers to the sky as a sign of thanks every time he scores, for apparently the same reason.

Marriage

Ricardo kaka

Kaká married Caroline Celico on 23 December 2005 at the evangelical Reborn in Christ Church in Sao Paulo , Brazil, in a wedding attended by fellow players from his national team, as well as other well known international players. Guests included Ronaldo , Adriano , Cafu , Dida , Julio Baptista and Brazilian national coach Carlos Alberto Parreira . Caroline and Kaká first met in 2002, and started dating soon after. The relationship survived Kaká’s move from Sao Paulo to Italy in 2003, while Caroline was still at school. It is likely that Caroline will stay in Brazil in the short-run, but the couple plan to live together in Italy very soon.

Kaká made his international debut in January2002 against Bolivia. He was a part of the national squad at the 2002 World Cup, but did not see much action even as Brazil won the World Championship, playing just 19 minutes of a first round match against Costa Rica.

Family

Later, he was in action at the 2004 Copa América and the 2005 Confederations Cup, which were both won by Brazil, with Kakà scoring in the Confederation Cup final win over Argentina. He finished in joint tenth place in the voting for the 2004FIFA World Player of the Year award.

Kaká’s younger brother Rodrigo Izecson Dos Santos Leite, known as Digão , followed in his brother’s footsteps and is currently on loan with Serie B team Rimini , after having spent some time in the AC Milan youth squad.

In the 2005 competition he finished two places higher. More recently, he has helped Brazil qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Kaká has matured as a player and is currently considered one of the best Brazilian footballers.

much, I change the subject. “How old was the were—I mean, your husband, during the war?” Fatma’s mother writes a number and Fatma gasps. I blink. Three. “Dad couldn’t have been three!” cries Fatma. Our minds collide and we work out the puzzle together. I notice Fatma’s mother watching us with interest. Interest, not curiosity. She seems to be familiar with ingrainment. I begin first, 1878, Arad was three and grandpa was twenty-seven. Fatma follows next. It’s 1992 now…this makes my father one hundred and seventeen years old! “Impossible! Impossible!” She cries frantically. “He appears to be nearing sixty! This is madness! What’s going on?” The answer is in my mind. He’s a werewolf. Shapeshifter. Supernatural creature. Fatma slips out of my mind. She waves her hands in agitation, still asking the same questions.

Chapter Three of The Legacy Nada Faris

hen I see the photograph of my grandfather standing next to the werewolf, I blink, stutter, plead optically for answers, and discombobulate myself even further. Fatma’s sienna-colored eyes are narrowed, her lips pursed. She studies me the way a hawk examines a mouse.

“What is the meaning of this?” I ask both women. Fatma touches her mother on the shoulder without speaking. Her mother smiles and points at the photograph. She taps my grandfather and then gestures in my direction. “But that’s impossible…” says Fatma who meanders back into my mind, sweeping for information. “This cannot be your grandfather.” “It is.” “But it cannot be; for this is my father.” Fatma takes the photograph from her mother’s hand gently and almost presses it against her nose. “When was this taken?” Her mother pulls a pen from a drawer and writes on the back of the image a year in Indian numerals. I don’t need to ask for a translation because I see the Arabic numbers clearly in Fatma’s mind: 1905. Fatma is distraught, lost in a string of calculations and mathematical equations to which I am mentally privy. Fatma shakes her head and reiterates, “But that’s impossible!” It is my turn to calculate. I recall the significance of the date and almost shudder. “My grandfather…” I say then trail off.

“Luis?” asks Fatma, clearly sifting through my ramping thoughts. “Yes. My grandfather met Arad during the Lincoln County war.” Fatma’s mother hurriedly scribbles another number on the back of the image: 1878. “That’s right,” I say. “My grandfather was twenty-seven. He’d been married and begotten a daughter. Nana, my aunt. He then disappears for twenty-three years, only to reappear in 1904. He only stays for a couple of months before slipping out, never to return again. He leaves my grandmother pregnant with my father.” Feeling as if I shared too

I too am bewildered, albeit for a different reason. I remember my father’s diaries. According to his entries, my grandfather did not live to see 1905, especially not with Arad by his side, hugging him with a strong, shaggy arm. What a glitch! Fatma has quieted down. Her mother’s piercing gaze fixes on me. I approach the stout woman. “How come Arad and my father are standing so amiably by one another?” Her lips curl into a loving smile. She looks at her daughter, then back at me, and her chest heaves so softly, and her eyes gleam with pride. I hadn’t thought of this before, but suddenly I hope the mother retrieves her voice, if only to explain to me what in the world she meant by this reaction. “Yumma? Shqasdich?” Fatma asks and this time I see no translation in her mind, only curling letters in Arabic script. Her mother’s smile expands and boarders on a grin. She cups her daughter’s chin with her right hand, turns Fatma’s face in my direction, and points at my head. My heart drops into the pit of my stomach. “What?” I cry out. The short woman utters a breathless chuckle and nods. “No way!” Fatma leaps into my brain, dodging the commotion and sliding in through the muddle of thoughts. What the heck are you on about? They ingrained upon one another! Like us! Like you, I mean. Oh god! Do you know what this means? You seriously cannot be thicker than this. Haven’t I just asked you to explain? Fatma, I think her name for the first time and a tingly feeling crawls over me. You can read my thoughts…you can sense what I am feeling. This is a supernatural ability that is transferred with the lycanthrope gene. The what gene? Werewolf… Fatma swings right round. The level of disarray parallels her mental vulnerability. She is wide open. I let myself enter. I see her desire to laugh and spit. She wants to tell me that there is no such thing as werewolves; that maybe Hollywood has created this phenomenon to sell movies. That maybe the myth of the werewolf existed earlier to eroticize the danger of the proletariat problem. That there is no such thing as a lycanthrope gene or else it’d be public knowledge. But the words cannot be formed for they are laden with doubt. They are weighed down by the strange phenomenon that enabled us to communicate without words. To spy on one another’s most intimate experiences. And she cannot overlook the news she just received about her father’s real age. Reality is the regurgitation of dull statements. Familiarity is safe.

I leave Fatma to her thoughts. It makes sense, I suppose. I mull over mine: My grandfather was not murdered by Arad. The reason he sought the werewolf was not to inflict harm, but to maintain their paranormal union. My grandmother was wrong. Nana was wrong. My father was wrong. My family legacy crumbles before me like a dilapidated building turning into rubble. I sweep the ashes with my feet and pray for my father’s wasted life—his dedication to a faulty cause. Fatma has left us and went back to her room. I take my leave from her mother and hitch a ride back to the hotel, dispirited and downcast. As my life mission disintegrates, one kilometer at a time, I think of all the waste, and then two sienna-colored eyes illuminate my mind. Fatma. What do I do about the ingrainment? I pay the generous driver and enter the hotel. I pass through the lobby and find the lively crew. There were new faces among the crowd as well as some from earlier. Albert stands in the middle like Kuwait Towers with a spherical belly, narrating a humorous tale. His audience erupts merrily as I approach them. “Paxton!” Says Albert, swirling around. “Someone’s been here looking for you.” Strange. “Who?” “A little Kuwaiti lass with short brown hair, dressed in dirty rags.” I smile. “You’re not pulling my leg, are you now?” A wounded look crosses his face. “Dear god, no!” he calls on his witnesses for confirmation. “Jared, Tony and Heather were here when she came. Weren’t you lads?” they all agree. “She even had your photograph.” “What photograph?” “The one you showed us earlier of the Persian bloke. Honest. No fib.” “Oh! I had lost my photograph,” I say and thank Albert for telling me. But who’s the girl? And how in the world did she manage to take my photograph? I ruminate over the events of the day and hit a dead end. I didn’t come across any young girl. Maybe one of the Kuwaiti youth had found it and had given it to her to deliver? “Don’t do that again, mate,” says Albert. “I’m a sensitive bloke…” “Really sorry, Albert. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” “Well you did.” He sits down and pouts. “How about I make it up to you by getting you a lemonade with crushed ice. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” He nods—pout still visible. I greet the Hotel’s bartender and order a lemonade for Albert. “Are you by any chance Mr. Jordan Paxton?” he asks as he crushes the ice. I nod. “Someone called for you.” “Yeah, I know, they just told me. A young Arab girl with short brown hair and dirty—“ “Not here. Not in person, I mean. Called for you on the phone. Here.” He picks up the receiver. “Oh!” is all I say. “Emily something. Said she needed you to call her immediately upon your return.” “Did she leave a number?”

“Yeah. Hang on, let me dial it.” “Sure. You do that. I’ll just give Albert his lemonade.” The bartender waves at me to hurry, indicating that Emily has answered. I run the last few steps. “Emily?” “Jo!” “Is everything alright? Are you OK? Is my mom OK? Is yours?” “Yes, yes. We’re all fine. I called to ask you about how your you-knowwhat went.” “Oh, that…” “That doesn’t sound encouraging.” “It isn’t, Em. It’s horrible. It’s all wrong. Everything.” “What’s wrong, Jo? What happened?” “Emily my father’s diaries are wrong. Grandpa never wanted to kill the we—the Arab.” “So why’d he leave his family then? I thought he was kidnapped or something.” “Well, it’s not like that. It’s complicated. But they weren’t enemies. They were…friends.” The phone is silent for a couple of moments. Emily asks me if my grandfather has been Arad’s “special friend,” and I do not contradict her. “It’s complicated…” I repeat again. “Sweetie you don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to. But I would like to ask you one question: does that mean it’s over? Have you finally stepped on that squiggly worm? Are you going to come home?” I can hear the happiness seeping through her voice like droplets of honey. I want to tell her yes. I do. I just cannot tug it out. The hair on the back of my neck rises. My Adam’s apple bobs up and down. Eyes. Eyes. Sienna colored eyes. They haunt me. Riveted in the back of my mind, they follow me wherever I go. What do I do? Is this how my grandfather felt? Arad had been three at the time. What happened after the ingrainment? Will I ever find out? “Jo?” “I won’t look for him anymore…” I say at last. Emily inhales sharply and waits before she exhales. “Jo?” “Yeah?” “I think it’s best if we speak face to face.” “I think so too.” “Hm..good. OK. That’s settled then. I’ll see you in a—when I see you.” She giggles to cover up her error. I smile, wish her all the best and promise to talk when we meet face to face. When I hang up the phone and set my face in my palms. The bartender asks if she brought trouble from home. “No. The trouble’s here…” I say and get up. Maybe if I shower, the sienna-colored eyes will shut. Maybe if I go back home, I’ll never feel like I am under surveillance. I take off my jacket and pull off my fedora. I pass by the stairs and head towards the elevators. It’s not like I owe Fatma anything. And Emily is right. I need not stay here any longer. My life can move on now. I sigh loudly in the privacy of the elevator. When the elevator bell rings and the doors slide open, I hear the sound of a click. It comes all the way from the other side of the corridor— from a First Generation Golden Glock pointed in my direction by a woman in a forest green skirt that reaches up to her ankle, a beige shirt with orotund pink flowers riding up her left sleeve, a white scarf, and eyes the color of burnt sienna.

We delude ourselves willingly, conflating the two notions to satisfy ourselves. And when we wander through the extraordinary, the strange, the unknown, we give these occurrences the status of temporary unorthodoxy. We call these odd events names to make them more familiar. We call it a miracle, by snuffing it, wrapping it in recycled examples and shoving it in a compartment. The key to this compartment vanishes and the word fossilizes overtime. Reality becomes knowable with some odd instances that are, by virtue of discourse, knowable as well. Reality becomes static, stale, and predictable. And so does everybody who lives it.

‫هرمه إسم “آخت خوفو» أي أفق خوفو‪ ..‬وذلك للتغيرات الدينية التي حدثت في‬ ‫عصره‪..‬فقد أوضح شتادملان أن خوفو قد خرج عن العقيدة املصرية ونصب نفسه‬ ‫إلهاً‪.‬‬ ‫تخريب الهرم‬ ‫لم يسلم هرم امللك “خوفو” من التدمير على مر العصور‪ ،‬فقد أشار «ديودور‬ ‫الثقلي» إلى قمة الهرم األكبر وأنه توجد منصة يصل عرضها إلى حوالي ‪ 3‬أمتار‬ ‫والطول مترين‪ ،‬وأعلى الهرم ليس منصة وإمنا الهرمي الذي رمبا كان مغطى بالذهب‬ ‫الذي فُقِ د فع ً‬ ‫ال و ُدمِ ر جزء من الكساء أيضاً‪ ،‬وحدث أيضاً تفكيك ألحجار الهرم في‬ ‫عهد السلطان صالح الدين واستعمالها في بناء السدود‪ ،‬وأثناء حكم السلطان حسن‬ ‫استعملت كتل حجرية من الهرم في بناء مسجد وتبعه آخرون في ذلك‪.‬‬ ‫السور احمليط بالهرم‬ ‫يحيط بهرم امللك خوفو سور ال تزال بقاياه موجودة إلى اآلن في اجلهات الشرقية‬ ‫والشمالية‪ ،‬ويقع على مسافة ‪ 10 ،20‬م من قاعدة الهرم‪.‬‬ ‫مخاطر‬ ‫يحذر عدد من اخلبراء ومنهم زاهي حواس رئيس املجلس األعلى املصري لآلثار‬ ‫من املخاطر احملدقة مبنطقة األهرامات في اجليزة‪ ،‬واملتمثلة في الزحف العمراني‬ ‫للمناطق العشوائية في اجليزة وتعبيد وشق الطرق أو أنفاق قرب املنطقة‪ .‬سبق أن‬ ‫كانت احلكومة املصرية قد بدأت بالفعل في أواسط التسعينيات بشق طريق سريع‬ ‫قرب األهرامات إال أن غضب وتهديد اليونيسكو بشطب األهرامات من الئحة‬ ‫التراث العاملي جعل الرئيس املصري يأمر بوقف مشروع الطريق‪ ،‬وتطالب وزارة‬ ‫اإلسكان ببناء نفق جنوب األهرامات إال أن وزارة الثقافة املصرية واملجلس األعلى‬ ‫لآلثار يرفضان املشروع ما دفع الرئيس املصري حسني مبارك لطلب رأي اليونيسكو‬ ‫حول املسألة‪.‬‬

‫هرامات اجليزةأو اهرامات مصر تقع بهضبة اجليزة في محافظة اجليزة مبصر‬ ‫على الضفة الغربية لنهر النيل بنيت قبل حوالي ‪ 25‬قرنا قبل امليالد‪ ،‬حوالي‬ ‫‪ 2550 - 2480‬ق‪ .‬م‪ ،‬وهي عبارة عن ثالثة أهرامات هي خوفو‪ ،‬خفرع ومنقرع‪.‬‬

‫واألهرامات هي عبارة عن مقابر ملكية كل منها يحمل اسم امللك الذي بناه ومت‬ ‫دفنه فيه بعد موته‪ ،‬والبناء الهرمى هنا هو مرحلة من مراحل تطور عمارة املقابر‬ ‫في مصر القدمية والتي بدأت بحفرة صغيرة حتولت إلى حجرة حتت األرض ثم‬ ‫إلى عدة غرف يعلوها مصطبة وبعد ذلك تطورت لتأخذ شكل الهرم املدرج بواسطة‬ ‫املهندس اميحوتب وزير الفرعون زوسر في األسرة الثالثة والهرم موجود في جبانه‬ ‫سقارة ‪ ،‬وتال ذلك محاولتني للملك سنفرو مؤسس األسرة الرابعة لبناء شكل هرمي‬ ‫كامل ولكن ظهر الهرمني غير سليمي الشكل وهما يقعان في دهشور أحدهما‬ ‫مفلطح القاعدة واآلخر اتخذ شك ً‬ ‫ال أصغر بعد نصف احلجم‪ ،‬واستطاع املهندس‬ ‫هميونو مهندس امللك خوفو أن يصل للشكل الهرمى املثالى وقام بتشييد هرم خوفو‬ ‫باجليزة على مساحة ‪ 13‬فدان وتبع ذلك هرمي خفرع ومنقرع‪.‬‬

‫يعتقد الكثير من الناس أن عظمة الهرم تكمن في طريقة بنائه‪ ،‬وفي الواقع أن‬ ‫حلديثهم هذا جانبا من الصحة‪ ،‬فالهرم األكبر على سبيل املثال عبارة عن جبل‬ ‫صناعي يزن ستة ماليني وخمسمائة ألف طن‪ ،‬ومكون من أحجار تزن كل منها إثنا‬ ‫عشر طن تقريبا‪ ،‬وهذه األحجار محكمة الرصف والضبط إلى حد نصف املليمتر‪،‬‬ ‫وهذا بالفعل يستحق كل اإلعجاب باحلضارة املصرية القدمية‪ ،‬ولكن األمر أكبر من‬ ‫ذلك بكثير‪ ،‬فالهرم هو أحد أكبر األلغاز التي واجهت البشرية منذ مطلع احلضارة‪.‬‬ ‫لقد ادعى الكثير من الناس أنه مجرد مقبرة فاخرة للملك (خوفو)‪ ،‬ولكن علماء‬ ‫العصر احلالي يعتقدون أن هذا يعد مثارا للسخرية‪ ،‬فقد مت بناء الهرم األكبر‬ ‫لغرض أسمى وأعظم من ذلك بكثير والدليل على ذلك هو تلك احلقائق املدهشة‬ ‫التي يتمتع بها هذا الصرح العظيم والتي جمعها تشارلز سميث في الكتاب الشهير‬

‫(ميراثنا عند الهرم األكبر) في عام ‪1864‬م‪ ،‬فارتفاع الهرم مضروبا مبليار يساوي‬ ‫‪ 14967000‬كم وهي املسافة بني األرض والشمس‪ ،‬واملدار الذي مير من مركز‬ ‫الهرم يقسم قارات العالم إلى نصفني متساويني متاما‪ ،‬وأن أساس الهرم مقسوما‬ ‫على ضعف ارتفاعه يعطينا عدد (لودولف) الشهير (‪ )3.14‬واملوجود في اآلالت‬ ‫احلاسبة‪ ،‬وأن أركان الهرم األربعة تتجه إلى االجتاهات األصلية األربعة في دقة‬ ‫مذهلة حتى أن بعض العلماء اعترضوا يوما بحجة وجود زاوية انحراف ضئيلة عن‬ ‫اجلهات األصلية‪ ،‬ولكن بعد اكتشاف األجهزة اإللكترونية احلديثة للقياس ثبت أن‬ ‫زوايا الهرم هي األصح واألدق‪.‬‬ ‫أما بالنسبة لهرم الفرعون من كاورع الشهير مبنقرع‪ ،‬فقد الحظ العلماء أنه يحوي‬ ‫فجوة دائرية صغيرة اليتجاوز قطرها ‪ 20‬سم ومتكن علماء اآلثار من معرفة سر‬ ‫وجود تلك الفجوة بعد مالحظة دقيقة للغاية‪ ،‬إذ تبني أن أشعة الشمس تدخل من‬ ‫خالل تلك الفجوة يوما واحد فقط في السنة على قبر الفرعون من كاورع متاما‬ ‫واألعجب أن هذا اليوم يتفق مع عيد ميالد الفرعون‪.‬‬ ‫هرم امللك خوف‬ ‫خلف “خوفو” أباه سنفرو‪ ،‬وأمه هي امللكة “حتب حرس األولى”‪ ،‬وخوفو هو االسم‬ ‫املختصر لـ “خنوم خو أف أوي” أي (خنوم هو الذي يحميني)‪ ،‬ويذكر التاريخ خلوفو‬ ‫أنه هو باني أعظم بناء على وجه األرض‪ ،‬وهو الهرم األكبر باجليزة‪ ،‬واملعجزة‬ ‫الوحيدة الباقية من عجائب الدنيا السبع القدمية‪ ،‬الذي ال ترجع عظمته فقط إلى‬ ‫ضخامة بنائه وإمنا إلى تخطيطه الداخلي احملكم واملثير لإلعجاب‪ ..‬وبُن َيت حول‬ ‫هرمه جبانة بها أهرامات صغيرة لزوجاته وأمه “حتب حرس”‪ ،‬إضافة إلى مقابر‬ ‫على شكل مصاطب ألفراد العائلة امللكية وكبار املوظفني‪ .‬أطلق امللك خوفو على‬

Fatima H. Alwan: A Dexterous Anglophone Wordsmith Who Invigorates The Serene Realm Of Poetry!

atima Hussein Alwan is an ambitious and eager Kuwaiti writer and poet holding a master>s degree in Computer Engineering. She started her writing journey at a very small age she could scarcely remember; however at the age of 12, she plunged her enthusiastic self officially into the writing arena by publishing several articles, about sport and art, in local Kuwaiti newspapers and magazines. Her writing style and abilities were way beyond her small age; a fact that was conspicuous and highly appreciated by whoever read for her. Despite her technical specialty, Fatima adores English Literature and dreams of becoming a novelist one day, for she considers fiction her first and true literary love, notwithstanding her great fondness and devotion for poetry. Surprisingly, Fatima had studied in Kuwait>s public schools since kindergarten all the way to college (that also includes acquiring her master>s degree in Kuwait University), never lived or studied abroad, doesn>t have any English roots, and of course is not majored in English Language nor Literature... a fact, of which she>s always proud! She developed her English lingual abilities, enriched her diction and lexical choices, and perfected her reading and writing skills depending on her sole dedicated self, mainly by befriending books and lexicons (she considers herself a voracious bookworm!), then by watching loads of English programs, talk-shows and movies, traveling and intermingling with anglophones and, finally by being a very good listener. Truth be told, albeit she built her lingual and literary skills independently, she gained heaps of support and encouragement from her family and kin, especially her husband, kids and cousins, without whom she wouldn>t have thought of publishing her work and she would>ve rather kept it locked in her drawer up till now!

English Language and Literature professors and students, and several literature fiends, the book was considered phenomenal, being written so professionally and neatly by a non-native speaker, from outside the literary domain! It>s an idyllic synopsis of her sprightly thoughts, dreams, wishes and imagination. The Book gained (and is still gaining) an outstanding reputation and publicity since its release, and has been sincerely acclaimed and strongly supported by many literature and poetry lovers, and has established a fair base of fans. “Poesy Whisperer” is Fatima>s second literary offspring, which has been launched recently (February 2010) in Virgin Megastore and Jarir Bookstore. In this book, the poet follows a novel track and ventures into the refulgent realm of classical poetry, where she indulges in the beauty and luxury of classical poetic forms like the ballade, sonnet, sestina, villanelle, virelai, rondeau, roundel and others; furthermore, she admirably introduces her own creative poetic form, which she calls “Sparrowet”. “Poesy Whisperer” is composed of 29 poems that discuss diverse issues, most of which are woven in the form of poetic short stories. Being read by some literature devotees and professionals, “Poesy Whisperer” is expected to outrun its former sibling, for the poet has adopted a new more professional theme, and has patently acquired a more mature literary understandability, insight, and hence mastery.
