Editor's Note Hi everyone! Welcome to our SECOND newsletter of the 20212022 term. With the holiday season, we had some fun and exciting events from holiday socials to service to even an interclub! This may be a short one because of finals and the holidays, but that didn't stop us from enjoying some Circle K events and writing an article about it! I hope you still enjoy this issue! This was the first Serenade that I had attended and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had within a school setting. Although the preparations, planning, and setting up was stressful; the outcome of the event was an unforgettable experience. We successfully raised thousands of dollars that will be donated to charity. Not only was it a great experience for us, but it will be provided to others and given towards a good cause. The journey towards Serenade has led me to gain remarkable friendships and allowed me to have quality time with many people to work towards the same goal. I wouldn’t exchange anything for these memories, and I’m extremely thankful for all the people I got to meet and work with. I’m even more proud of the success of the event itself and the ability to provide to others.

This was my first in-person Serenade, and it was a huge success! With how extremely successful the event was, it did come with a lot of planning and organizing months beforehand. So many long committee meeting nights and hours spent in SORCE for Prep Days all paid off for this one enchanting night. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work and effort that the Special Events Committee, and everyone else that helped out, put into Serenade. During the event, there was a lot of delicious foods and drinks, amazing opportunity drawings, and spectacular performers. I’m so proud of all the performers, for spending their time with us and showcasing their talents. At the end of the night, we were able to raise thousands of dollars! I was too stunned to speak after calculating the final total, because we actually did that!! I’m thankful for everyone that attended Serenade, both in-person and online, because with their help, I was able to have a magical night.

THANKSGIVING SOIREE BY ETHAN SENA Thanksgiving Soiree was so much fun! It was so nice being around everyone for a Friendsgiving type of hangout. The food there was SOOOO bomb. I was so obsessed with all the food that I’m pretty sure I ate too much. I even had a blast playing games with everyone. We played a variety of games: Trivia Murder Party, The Devils and the Details, Talking Points,and even Quiplash. I swear I never laughed so hard in my life because we kept making jokes and kept having fun with each other. I’m extremely grateful I went to Thanksgiving Soiree! I had such a good time talking and hanging out with everyone in the club; I wouldn’t spend my night any other way.

SECRET CACTUS BY NELLY NAVARRO
Secret Cactus at my house!!!!! LOL So this year, I was the host for Secret Cactus, but I would love to shoutout our membership chair Mickey for making the event a success and setting everything up. Everyone seemed to have a good time, I think my highlight of the night was playing SOMA (which is a horror game for those who don't know) with everyone with the lights off and getting scared together. I was literally screaming LMFAO. But everyone just seemed so happy and I am glad to know that everyone loves William, my guinea pig, as well LOL.

ST. JUDE’S RANCH FOR KIDS BASKET ASSEMBLY BY LARRY BARNSON
UNLV CIRCLE K INTERNATIONAL
During this past holiday season, the UNLV Circle K Club and the Kiwanis Club of Green Valley spent time assembling “Welcome Baskets” for a new group of kids arriving at the St. Jude’s Ranch for Kids. For over 52 years St. Jude’s Ranch has been a beacon of hope for abused, abandoned and neglected children and young people in Southern Nevada. Led by President Dana Dimzon and Kiwanis Family Chair Janel Panganiban, UNLV Circle K decided to focus their attention on kids at St. Jude’s Ranch. When children come to St. Jude’s Ranch, they are often scared and unsure of what awaits them at their new home. The house parents at one of the cottages wanted to help greet these new family members with a special basket. Each basket would contain items that a child might need to make their move easy and stress free. UNLV CKI donated all the items needed for these baskets. The baskets included a journal w/pen, dental kits, hand lotion, lip balm, water bottle, shower cap, Monster LED light strips to personalize their rooms, ear buds and a game or toy.

ICE SKATING SOCIAL WITH UNR! BY JANEL PANGANIBAN
I had the great opportunity to plan an iceskating interclub with Tony Lang, the Kiwanis Family Chair for UNR. I love social events so I was really excited for us to hang out with our fellow Kiwanians. It was a great turnout, it was really fun to see everyone skate even though many of us haven't skated in a long time (or at all!). I fell over after trying to help Maricela get up from the ice. A family that falls together stays together. :) Overall, this event was a success and I'm thankful for everyone who went!
