October Projects MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. UNM CKI volunteered at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. During this time, we helped check people in and direct them to the start of the walk.
October Projects Cont. KIWANIS ONE DAY Each year, Kiwanis clubs around the world join in a day of service. It is a great opportunity to bring together the Kiwanis family of clubs to focus on local community service. This year, we worked alongside the K-Kids (Dennis Chavez Elementary School) at Joy Junction and our Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque at the Kiwanis Garden near Explora . We ended the day with a Halloween social in Santa Fe, with their Kiwanis Club.
UNM Hours as of October: 497 Hours!
Balloon Fiesta Balloon Fiesta is the biggest project for the club each year. This year in total we had 28 members work over 72 events. Our positions ranged from gate captains, ticket sellers, and scanners. Thank you to all who got up at 2 AM to come to the park, smile, and sell tickets and thank you to all who volunteered in the afternoon/evening shifts. In addition, this year the Balloon Fiesta debuted a few new shapes including Van Goh (3D Printed Image) and Jesus (Rio De Janerio Statue). A few favorites did return this year. It included Yoda and Darth Vader,
Fall Rally- Service is Incredible UNM took 23 members up to Vanderwagon, NM for the weekend of October 19-21. During this weekend, we met with the other schools in our district and filled it with laughs and new friends. We were also finally able to meet a few more members from our recently chartered school in Surprise, Arizona. During our team competitions, Team Mode took the prize home, but the true prize was our new members falling in love with CKI a little more.
Fall Rally- Service is Incredible
October Social with ASU and OUAZ The first weekend of Balloon Fiesta, ASU and OUAZ came up to work a Balloon Fiesta shift with us. Before our shift, we all decided to go and watch the balloons go up. Unfortunately, the weather got the best of us and we could only see them stationary.

October Social with NAU and WNMU The second weekend of Balloon Fiesta, NAU and WNMU came up to work another shift with us. Instead of watching the balloons go up, we decided to take them to a hockey game with us and out to breakfast before they left.

Congrats to Ki on being selected for UNM's Fine Arts Chair. Ki is a sophomore studying Psychology.
Congrats to Cassie and Caitlyn for being selected as UNM's co-social chairs. Cassie is a freshman studying Nursing and Caitlyn is a freshman studying Studio Art.

Congrats to Sadaf on being selected for UNM's K-Family chair. Sadaf is a Junior studying Pharmacy and Business.
