I’d like to welcome you all to the 27th issue of Upcoming Mag. As we are under level 4 lockdown restrictions, we decided to add more biographies, more photos, stories and more to read during these hard times, I believe we all do not want to get sick or die but all that these lockdowns are bringing is hunger. When will it all end? TSHERRITY MATSHIKA known in the entertainment industry as “MOSKIDD JNR” is one of the youngest rappers who are making waves in the South African entertainment business. This young rapper born in Mpumalanga and grew up in the same province. He started his music career in 2013.He is a hip-hop artist and also a producer specializing in hip-hop, house, gospel and traditional music for upcoming artists. He is also a founder and manager of ONEBEAT PRODUCTION PROJECTS (PTY) LTD. He worked with the likes of DUMSANI NTULI and VERSATILE LAMOLA. He is one of the best producers who will steer the industry to the next level.
He later collaborated with the likes of “Mugnamic” and “K-marczy” on a track titled “Am Only Human”. HE produced two single tracks “We Ain’t Celebrating” and “Cash Ke Chelete”. Those two tracks made his presence is felt within the entertainment industry. And He got nominated at SA Awards under “Best hip-hop artist” category and at Sauma Awards as “Best New Comer”. He got nominated at Mpumalanga Sunshine Awards under “Best Hip Hop Song of The Year”. He released “WE Ain’t Celebrating” as the official single from his upcoming album. After “We Aint Celebrating” He released his second single “Cash ke Chelete”.The two singles received a positive reviews from the public and other South African acts. The two tracks are available on all online store including traxsource and iTunes.
He went on doing big things when he landed an interview at Moretele FM music review and impressed listeners with his freestyle and punch line. He went for an interview at Moutse Community Radio Station after releasing his two love songs “I Never Meant To Hurt You” and “Is It Over Now Really?” that’s when he got a platform to promote his music on Moutse Fm. His main focus as a producer and artist is to create music that will challenge listeners and put his place on the map.

I'm here to tell you truth and nothing but the truth about me and my music situation right now and tell you why I'm not dropping new music and when I will drop new music . I feel like I'm not in the right space to drop new music because I'm trying to find myself and the purpose of doing music because there is a lot of things that happened to my music and some of them are still happening and that killed my confidence. The people who were promising to help me to level up my music career didn't fulfill their promise instead they took my money and blocked me from contacting them, but I'm healed from that. The next thing is confidence I'm finding myself to continuously lose because you know it's hard to come up with full confidence when someone betrayed you with your dream when you were already certain that it’s coming to reality and your life would only change for the better, it’s frustrating and discouraging. But one thing I can tell you is that I'm trying to build my own thing that's why I decided to open my own record label Home Of Hits Records and register it and now I'm busy arranging studio sessions with great and dope producers in the game for the likes of MBzet Da ProduceR, Makwa6eats and Silas Beats to mention but a few, so when I'm good to release new music I'll update you as now I'm working on arrangements. To my fans/supporters I would like to ask you this, please don't give up on me. I won't disappoint you and I'm still not forgetting what you did to my EP in 2019 and I promise I'll come up with a greater one as I come back into the music scene. PLAYBXY ROQUE This is PLAYBXY ROQUE pronounced as "Play Be X.Y Rock". An 18 years old trapper based in PTA West doing new wave trap such as aggressive trap, funky trap, rock trap, melodic rap and ‘emo’-trap. I'm originally from Zimbabwe but grew up here in SA.
My courage to rap was found after I went some emotional heart-breaking experiences. I decided to take out my feelings and express them on a track and then it turned out it was a good track, after getting positive feedback I had to make another hit and this was back in December of 2018. That’s when I started my musical journey.
After the second one I realized that it’s not my kind of style so I had to switch back to trap music but as I grew in a community full of the old gang "old school followers", they felt like trap sound was garbage so to be in their books I had to rap but still felt something in me was missing. So that's how I got to make my rap songs.

The very same December in 2018 I received my report card and I didn’t make it to the next grade (11), so I was so stressed and by then I never took music seriously as I was a soccer player too. My parents banned me from sports and hobbies so I could focus on studies and which I did for whole of 2019. When I came back in 2020 things were now different and I also changed my stage name from "JP SAUCIIEY KIID" to my recent one as I felt like the name was just a clown name. So from changing the stage name and taking a break from music affected me so bad because I had to start all over again in terms of building a new fan base and I had to spread my name out there. I released a couple of rap songs but realized that I am not doing music to please people so I'll do what I feel is right and those who want to listen will give me an ear, that's why right now I'm into trap all the way and I'm gaining the momentum I lost and can see a few changes because I now get bookings and even though it’s not so many gigs I get, it's a lot better than nothing at all. I’d say right now, my music is influenced by Young Thug, Lil Uzi vert, Travis Scott, Cardi B and Playboi Carti though there's a little bit of variety from my music style and theirs because everyone needs to be unique and bring music people aren’t used to. But funny how I grew up listening to the likes of Lil Wayne, T.I , Chris Brown ,T-Pain ,50 cent, Jah Rule and many other old school team. 2020 I was a nominee at the #Mzansi Arts and Media Awards as the "Best newcomer" and this year I'm nominated as the "Best hip hop artist" Been interviewed at Pheli FM a couple of times, and had my latest song with @Leodaleo & @Blxckie Air played @Metro FM UPCOMING MAG | 19

Tlou Clothing Brand Tlou is my name given to me by my father named after his brother. It all started as a name until I made it an empire by transforming it into a brand. What I like is that it fits all the 11 official languages of South Africa, it’s one of the animals in the Big 5 and it’s sacred to most if not all the cultural and traditional tribes and/or clans of South Africa and Africa as a whole. At first it was just a name T.L.O.U in 2014, two years (2016) down the line I managed to get the abbreviation (The Last Of Us) and a logo (Elephant head front view), a year later after, I designed a second logo (Elephant head side view) which is the one I am currently using. T.L.O.U Clothing Brand is suitable for all age groups and can be worn by anyone and though it’s a clothing brand for the people, it covers both the nature, agriculture and the traditional attires. It worked in my favor as a Pedi because I managed to abbreviate my name T.L.O.U (Elephant in English) to The Last of Us whereby people define it in many ways, others says it relates to their relationships (as they are the last of their loving kind taking relationships serious), some says it relates to their families (as they are the last of that particular tribe or their surname will vanish into thin air when there is no one to carry it to the next generation) but to me it came an education point of view that in the next coming generations, elephants (tlou) will be extinct so the brand will help the grand-grand- children get a clue of what elephants looked like just like us as we are taught about the dinosaurs. Since the poaching of Elephants’ horn (Ivory) grew rapidly in the past years and resulted in elephants being the endangered species on earth therefore the name T.L.O.U abbreviated to The Last of Us is basically based on that. Monate: Who have you worked with? Khombi: I have worked with Smokehouse casting agency and I have featured on Muvhango as nurse with the Sbu agency and since then I have been working as an extra in many soapies, for example, Generations: The Legacy and Skeem Saam.
Monate: Who is your role model and why? Khombi: Leleti Khumalo, because she has got raw talent and she came from performing in theatres, she is the best. Monate: What do you do during your spare time? Khombi: I go out for a jog and I also like dancing. Monate: What is it that people do not know about you, that you would like for them to know? Khombi: I appear to look like somebody who is forward, but really, I am very shy. Monate: What advice would you give a young lady who is interested in doing acting and/or modelling? Khombi: The entertainment industry is very cruel, be very careful and you must know what you want. You can fall, just like that, so have something to back it up with, do not stick to it alone. Monate: What would you like to achieve for this year? Khombi: Just to get a permanent gig, because being an extra is stressful and straining, for example, the wardrobe, transport costs, the agencies do not pay on time, and I often have to wait three to four months to receive my payment.

I thought that only slimmer ladies could become models, until I watched a movie called PHAT GIRLS, starring Monique… this gave me that sense of confidence and comfort that I was not the only plussized person in the world. You can be whoever and whatever you want to be, as long as you love yourself and accept yourself for who you are. So after watching that movie, I went outside and looked at my shadow in the night, and I saw this beautiful big person and thought to myself “Is this really me?” I looked damn beautiful. I asked myself how could I have deprived myself off so many opportunities, happiness, making friends by thinking that I am not worthy an not good enough. Since then, I stopped listening to what people had to say about me, I am going to love myself, I am going to do poetry and tell people to allow themselves to be who they are. After all of that, I began to be more interested in modeling, especially considering that my cousin is a model,

Monate: What is the name of your YouTube channel and what is it about? Mekhinah: My channels name is Mekhinah, it is about “Me” the brand and it is basically about documenting my life, lifestyle, blogs, educational videos, the content is very broad.
Monate: What do you do during your spare time? Mekhinah: During my spare time I am either creating content, like taking videos for YouTube or editing videos that I just shot or if I have time and I feel like being outdoors I go rowing. Monate: As a YouTuber, what advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own YouTube channel? Mekhinah: I would say just do it, do not over think it, It took me two weeks after recording to Just upload the video. Don’t think about it, do it and do something you like, which is really like your passion, don’t do it for the money because you won’t get anywhere. My sure that it is something you enjoy and the content you put out there is stuff that you like and you doing it for yourself and not for other people. Monate: Who have you worked with? Mekhinah: I have collaborated with other YouTubers on different videos and then on the side my little side hustle, I have an online store selling these cute little babies and that’s just about it, like modelling is a bit of a hobby for me, I have not really taken it Seriously like Let me do pageants. With school and everything that I do it is already difficult to balance; now I just have my channel and online store. Monate: What would you like people to know about you?
