We are on the beach of Somo, August 21 of 2021, after a year and a half with no competition in northern Spain due to this global pandemic. We cannot imagine a more idyllic place to do a Beach Race and after the cancellation of the Suances race. But since these years are different, it couldn’t be less. And we could already predict from the weather reports that there would not be much swell, which we could not imagine a sea as calm as the one we found first thing in the morning when we arrived the beach. Seeing the sea like this on the beach of Somo is very unusual and I have rarely seen it, but when the God Neptune does not want there to be movement, we cannot do otherwise. So, in the end it became a more technical race than Beach Race.
