Cooper Landing Gem- April 2024

Page 1

Dear Members,

April showers bring May flowers, but I hope to see some green grass before May.

We are in full swing of putting the Regatta together for May 18th. Please mark your calendars. By the time you read this Gem, the Easter Egg hunt will be another fun memory for some kiddos. Did you know that the Chamber helps sponsor this event?

We really need your input on ideas of what you want from your Chamber. We are visiting ideas of an updated web page, more access electronically to information about Cooper Landing and what we have to offer. Your ideas would really be welcomed. What would you like to see from your Chamber?

We are asking for a lot of input from you to help set the direction for our futures. Please share.

See you at the Regatta.

Thank you,

Cooper Landing

Cooper Landing Trails

Trails Update!

CLT, your trails committee of CLCC, is winding up the ski season. We’ve put the new groomer to good use. Thank you to Kenai Mountains Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area (KMTA) for a grant and matching funds from Janette Cadieux and Theo Lexmond that made the new groomer possible. These monies made a big difference on our grooming efforts on local ski trails this year including the Devil’s Creek ski trails that are still in use as long as the weather and snow hold. Not only did we have increased access to the national heritage area but we made it easier on our volunteer groomers. Please see the CLCC minutes from their March 21st meeting for further details on what your trails committee is doing on your behalf.

Our next CLT meeting will be April 12, 6:00 p.m. at the Cooper Landing Brewery. Please join us as we plan efforts to Spring-clean our Safety Path and other trails once the snow is clear.

Thanks again to the Kenai Mountains - Turnagain Arm Heritage Area for the grant that made getting this groomer possible and to community members, Janette and Theo, for the matching funds. Thank you

Cooper Landing Community Club

Spring is in full swing and the Cooper Landing Community Club is staying busy! We are sad to announce the departure of our president Melissa Brennan as she and her husband are moving to Fairbanks at the beginning of May. Lorraine Temple will be taking over the role of president for the rest of the year. We are excited also to welcome Alex Browning to the board helping us fill the empty seat!

We were happy to see such a wonderful turnout at this year’s Easter Egg Hunt! Thank you to all that helped hide the eggs and helped with the cleanup. Several of the older kids in town switched to the role of egg hiders and helpers this year! It’s so nice to see the younger generation being active participants in our wonderful community. Special thanks to CLES for delivering the Easter Bunny in Engine 2! Huge shout out to the Cooper Landing Chamber for helping sponsor the egg hunt again this year. In addition to their regular sponsorship, two lucky kids won bicycles donated by the Moose Pass and Cooper Landing Chambers of Commerce!

In May we begin planning for the upcoming softball tournament as well as hold our annual hall cleanup day. Stay tuned to the Crier and Facebook announcements pages for details. If you would like to help out with this year’s softball tournament or donate an item for the silent auction please reach out to officers@cooperlandingcommunityclub.com Wishing everyone a wonderful spring!
