Monthly Newsletter
Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center
Greetings Members, The season is starting to wind down and there is a bit of nip in the air. The Chamber Board will return to having meetings each month starting this September and we will be working on a new edition of the Upper Kenai River Guide. We will be sending out information for renewing your memberships, updating advertisements you have placed, new advertisements, and of course the costs for each member. (See page for eight for more detail.) Please take time to get this information back to us. If you are not a member of the Cooper Landing Chamber and want to join, please contact any of the board officers to get the information or visit our webpage at www. cooperlandingchamber.com for a digital submission form. The elections for the Chamber Board will be this fall and if you are interested in serving on the board please contact myself or any other board member. We will be planning on ways to promote our winter economy and have a committee started to come up with ideas. One idea is to plan a community lighting for Christmas. The committee will start to work shortly so please contact the board if you wish to serve on the committee or just submit ideas. Lighting up the town, will help brighten our moods,as well as the people coming through and hopefully they will stop more often and stay a bit. The Cooper Landing community has always worked together to keep Cooper Landing a place that retains its beauty and the feeling of community. It takes participation and that spirit of community to face the challenges of our day to day living to keep that feeling. Our visitors to our town return part in that community spirit and the beauty of our area. Thank you from your Chamber of Commerce for all the support and your community spirit. Thank you,

Meet Tanisha Tanisha Walters, Holistic Health Care Practitioner, has been studying and practicing health and wellness for many years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 2002 at the University of South Alabama in Exercise Science and her Master of Science in 2010 at Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. At the time of earning her Masters, Tanisha also became nationally board certified by the NCCAOM in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has been licensed to practice Acupuncture in Alaska since 2013 and in Florida from 2010 to 2016. Tanisha was drawn toward the Ashtanga Yoga method and became a dedicated practitioner in 2010 after exploring various styles of yoga for about eight years prior. Tanisha has had the guidance of many great yoga teachers, including Saraswathi and Sharath Jois, in Mysore, India.
Journey to Cooper Landing Tanisha first came to Alaska with her husband Zack, an avid fly-fishing guide, during the summer of 2010. For several years, the couple split their time between Cooper Landing and the Florida Keys where Tanisha ran a Holistic Health Care Practice that offered community-style acupuncture. At the end of 2016, they decided to make Cooper Landing their full-time home. The area’s natural beauty and the tight-knit community helped make their decision to stay. “What I love most about Cooper Landing is the slower, more simplistic lifestyle encompassed within pristine natural surroundings. It’s also pretty sweet that I don’t have to sit in traffic or drive to work. It’s just a simple walk across my driveway. I continue to be grateful for the support and healing partnership from our local community, which has allowed for my practice to sustain and grow,” Tanisha desribed during our interview. The following summer, Tanisha began establishing a new home for her Holistic Health Care Practice. Zack and Tanisha constructed a wooden cabin to be used as a healing space at the Sunrise Inn. Soon afterwards they purchased property on Slaughter Ridge Road, moved the cabin, and Tanisha continued to expand her practice. Tanisha currently has a clinic and is working on promoting and encouraging Wellness Travel and Ecotourism in Cooper Landing through Custom Wellness Retreats. With a combined effort of other local businesses, Tanisha will be offering an annual Holistic Healing Scholarship for a custom retreat. Contact Tanisha to learn how to apply.
