2020 Annual Report USANAFoundation.org | 1
Special Message from Brian Paul As I reflect on the events of 2020, my heart is filled with gratitude for the thousands of supporters who have been so generous with their time and money during this extremely difficult year. It’s been a time of uncertainty for all of us, but for some it’s been devastating— losing loved ones and immense financial strain. For families already living on the edge, you can imagine how much their lives have been impacted. Through your loving donations, you’ve helped to provide critical nutrition to so many in need. 2020 has also been a year for many to reinvent, evolve, and innovate. At the USANA Foundation, we’ve taken this time to reflect and find new ways to increase our impact. We’ve updated our branding, strengthened and refined our mission, and enhanced our donations to better illustrate the ways we give. Finally, I want to say thank you. I feel like I can’t say it often enough or express it deep enough. It’s my hope your experience serving others gives you energy and inspiration to keep moving forward. These families need us—no matter the amount you can give, together we change lives. Thank you for all you do to improve our world and the lives in your community.
Brian Paul President, USANA Foundation

In addition, USANA Kids Eat raises public awareness, secures resources, and generates donations to continue their mission. At the heart of USANA Kids Eat is a network of volunteers committed to helping Utah’s children. Throughout the year, they donate money, time, and energy to help pack food-filled backpacks. The results are incredible. Each week, USANA Kids Eat delivers over 5,600 meals to local, at-risk youth, and they’re working to extend services to more children throughout Utah.

World Service Week: Inspiring Service at a Social Distance On Saturday, June 6, 2020, the USANA family kicked off our 4th annual World Service Week. Social distancing made volunteering slightly more challenging this year, but our USANA Associates and employees around the world selflessly stepped up for the cause. Communities and individuals donned their USANA Foundation shirts to help neighbors, clean up parks, fundraise, and donate time, food, clothing, and even blood.

Providing Relief During Uncertain Times Stories of Real Impact Families in food insecure areas are in desperate need for sustainable nutrition. And COVID-19 has created an even bigger need—not only in impoverished areas, but in communities throughout the world. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to provide meals for families all across the globe. To give you perspective, we’d like to share some stories of those directly impacted by your contributions.
26 | USANAFoundation.org
International Relief The Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) received emergency funding from the USANA Foundation to purchase food items for FoodPaks given to families in desperate need due to COVID-19 and the unemployment crisis.
Romania The Balan family live near a local church in Romania. Elena and her three children have endured hardship for many years. Along with a part-time job that pays $95 per month, Elena and her youngest daughter, who she now lives with, provide administrative support and cleaning services for their church to earn an additional small amount each month. They also help with the Food Pak ministry, delivering FoodPaks to their neighbors in need. Although life is difficult, they are thankful to receive some of the food provided through emergency relief from the USANA Foundation and CHF. Not only is the Balan family grateful to serve, giving Food Paks to help others in their community, they also have the food they need to help them in an extremely difficult situation.
USANAFoundation.org | 27
Thailand Volunteers from CHF went door to door to provide families with much-needed Food Paks. One family they met moved them to tears. A 14-year old girl, Nam, was caring for both of her parents. Her father had been left paralyzed after an accident, and her mother was mentally ill. Prior to COVID-19, Nam sold meat kabobs to earn a living. She has been doing this for five years—since she was 9 years old—even dropping out of school to support her family. Since the pandemic hit, she has been unable to work. Without money to feed her family, Nam dug up roots to survive. CHF was able to bring food including rice, oil, noodles, and canned fish to this family in dire need. And this young girl, bearing the weight of the responsibility to care for her family, finally found relief and hope.

Providing Relief Across the Globe United States Along with USANA Kids Eat, The USANA Foundation also works tirelessly with Convoy of Hope and Children’s Hunger Fund to help children within the United States and abroad. This year, the Convoy of Hope stepped up to provide relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and we were there to lend our support. We donated $50,000 to distribute thousands of pounds of food across the country. Altogether, the initiative provided 50 million meals to families in need. Many countries were also supported through our Global Mercy Network partnership, including: Mexico, Peru, Nepal, Myanmar, Belarus, and Ukraine.
30 | USANAFoundation.org
Mexico The USANA Foundation continued its support of Foundation for His Ministry—a charity, orphanage, and community center in Vicente Guerrero. Our recent aid has helped the mission purchase healthy food and build a new water tank. Over the years, our operations in this region have grown thanks to our partnerships. We now also help children and families in San Quintin. Sadly, young children are left at home to care for even younger children as they are not old enough for school and parents have to work in the fields for nominal wages. Our hope is not only to provide a haven for these children during the day, but also become a catalyst for community growth.
Canada In 2020, we continued to support Canadian Feed the Children (CFTC) in their efforts to foster food security within indigenous communities. Despite COVID-19, many important activities and projects were carried out when it was safe and possible. In fact, the year’s challenges made these initiatives even more important.

Australia The USANA Foundation donated $125,000 to Foodbank Australia to support rural and fire devastated communities in Australia. The bushfire crisis has affected thousands of Australian children and families. Getting food and supplies to these affected individuals was a top priority for us this year. Many of our donations went directly to support charities who responded to this crisis. We also supported Foodbank Australia’s school breakfast program. This program ensures thousands of children have access to a nutritious meal at the beginning of the day. The USANA Foundation donated $30,000 to this program to support five additional schools. Foodbank Australia was also instrumental in providing aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. We supported them in purchasing staple food supplies for those directly affected. The USANA Foundation donated an additional $25,000 to help provide 50,000 meals.

Singapore The USANA Foundation partnered with Fei Yue Community Services to provide quality breakfasts for seniors. These seniors often live alone and lack financial assistance. We donated $20,000 to this program in 2020, giving 600 seniors access to a quality breakfast for one month.
Thailand The USANA Foundation partnered with Children’s Hunger Fund to bring food relief to Thailand. The funding we provided helped to purchase 2,000 bags of rice for remote villages and food supplies for 10,000 people. The families helped were directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and unemployment. We also helped cover costs for the transportation and distribution of these supplies.
Philippines Our strong partnership with Project Pearls continued through 2020. We helped provide 300 monthly grocery packs for families in Tondo, Manila, and Bocaue for an entire year. We’ve also helped our partner, Children’s Hunger Fund, to provide food relief to the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. These projects have given food to 10,000 people, distributed the food to those who need it the most, plus donated additional supplies to help with the unemployment crisis.

China In 2020, USANA China partnered with the China Foundation of Poverty Alleviation to help impoverished students. This program built a food distribution facility in the Hubei province and helped supply students with food and learning supplies so they could continue their education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Continuous contributions from the USANA Foundation and USANA China were also instrumental in providing aid during the pandemic and lockdown. Over $400,000 was donated to the Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and General Hospital of Huanggang. USANA China staff participated in several charity activities and donated more than 1,000 gifts such as clothing, books, and toys to children in the Henan Province.
