Kick boxing get healthy the sweaty way
Written by President Ben Ly Kickboxing is a combative sport that has a rich history amongst the professional sporting world, personal trainers, gyms and the media with the introduction of large promotional companies such as the UFC. But what is the true essence of kickboxing? Why do people do it? Why is this seemingly brutal sport so popular with both sexes? The best way I can answer this question is with this video http://www.killsometime.com/videos/8115/ Best-Friends-Square-Off-In-Kickboxing-Final. The video shows two best friends meeting in the final of a large tournament. Just after the referee instructs the the two competitors to engage, the

two friends remove their boxing gloves, meet in the centre of the ring and establish who the winner is through a simple game of scissors, paper, rock! After the winner has been crowned, the two give each other a friendly hug and raise the others hand in victory. This is what kickboxing is about; it is a very effective form of self-defence; it is an excellent way to get fit; but more importantly the sport is built on mutual support and comradery. Rather than beat each other up, the two friends who have trained hard, perspired and hurt together couldn’t bring themselves to
hurt one another. UTS Kickboxing establishes an excellent ground for social equality and support with both men and women crying together in unison as they complete 100 push ups, collapsing in a heap on one another after performing 3 minutes of burpees and uniformally hating the instructor that is yelling at them. Kickboxing at UTS pushes team members to their limits both physically and mentally helping students to realise their true potential, confidence and the reality that they can be as good as they want to be.
