A MESSAGE FROM
your lieutenant governor
Hello Division 20! It may have been a little bit difficult (or a lot) to get back into the swing of school, but now that we’re officially one grade older it’s time to start embracing our experience in Key Club, mentoring younger underclassmen, encouraging new members to join Key Club, and developing service projects to change the community. That being said, October may be in the slump of fall, but it is the pinnacle of the Key Club experience for many -- get excited for Fall Rally, which is only a couple of days after the beginning of October. It’s the perfect way to take a break from studying and tests, as well as to show your enthusiasm for Key Club. Moreover, the most spirited division during Fally Rally will win the coveted Fall Rally spirit stick, which will be themed “Once Upon a Time in Key Club,” and I hope that we’ll be able to do so this year! Please remember that Youth Opportunities Fund applications are also due on October 15th, and there is now a new, convenient application form for you to easily submit your application. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or just want to have a colloquial conversation, I’m only a phone call, text, Facebook message, or e-mail away. Yours in caring and service, Vanessa Ting DOCUMENTING DIVISION 20 | OCTOBER SEPTEMBER 2016 2016

FOUR STEPS FOR A FABULOUS
Fall Rally
1.
Read over the Registration Packet -- it contains important information regarding registration guidelines, fundraising tips and ideas, food drive suggestions, as well as contact information for the Fall Rally Registration Chairperson and the New Jersey District Advisers in case you have any questions or concerns.
2.
Get your club members excited about Fall Rally by showing this presentation in a club meeting. This quick, colorful, and informative presentation should be all you need to get your members interested in heading to New Jersey Key Club’s biggest event of the year.
3.
Are your members still not convinced? You can easily print out this Fall Rally brochure to pass out to members as they leave a meeting: it really sells the event, shows the importance of attending, and highlights the fun activities and free time that is available after the session.
4.
Make sure to finalize your attendance to Fall Rally by registering early (or by October 9th)! If you register early, by submitting your registration files postmarked by September 23rd, you can save five dollars and only pay $38. You can register late, however, up to the day of Fall Rally and pay $43. All season pass holders pay $7. You can find the early and late registration forms in the Registration Packet on pages 5 and 7, respectively.
BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE BOLDED, ORANGE WORDS TO FIND EACH ITEM! DOCUMENTING DIVISION 20 | OCTOBER 2016

fall rally Once upon a time . . . All the lost boys left Neverland, Sleeping Beauty woke up and called a carriage, Little Red Riding Hood packed a second basket of treats, and Jack came down from the Beanstalk. But where were they all heading? Why, the NJ District of KCI’s Fall Rally, of course - the one event that can make even Grumpy smile! Fall Rally, or what you may know as the Key Club event held in Six Flags Great Adventure, is our biggest event of the year! Come and celebrate the start of the new school year of service with over 3,000 dedicated Key Clubbers across the state, while joining in on a pep rally including information regarding all of Key Club’s recent activities. This year, Fall Rally will be held on Sunday, October 9th! It is such an inspiring event - one that’s just right. From learning about service opportunities to riding roller coasters taller than Rapunzel’s tower, Fall Rally is such a magical time! Fall Rally is only $38.00 for early registration non-season pass attendees, $43.00 for regular registration non-season pass attendees, and $7 for all season-pass attendees. You can hear about the available service opportunities in your district, learn more about our District Project, meet your 2016-2017 NJ District Board, and ride roller coasters with your friends in the afternoon! Early Registration is due postmarked by Friday, September 23, 2016. Make sure you register early, especially if your club is taking a bus, as a bus pass is included in early registration. Late registration is due the day of Fall Rally at the park! Attending Fall Rally will allow you to turn ordinary service projects into golden ones! Don’t miss out on such a whimsical experience! We hope to see you all there! DOCUMENTING DIVISION 20 | OCTOBER 2016

Service Spotlight PARSIPPANY HIGH SCHOOL While most clubs and members were busy enjoying their summer off before school officially started, Parsippany High School was doing something fun -for their club members, and for their community. On August 4th, the Parsippany High School executive board got together and baked cupcakes: the next day, at Smith Field, they invited their club members to decorate cupcakes as well as earn service hours by bringing in decorating supplies. The event was a

perfect opportunity for members to gain some service hours over the summer, and maintain the momentum and spirit of service over July and August. After the event concluded, the club planned on donating their cupcakes to administrators and staff in their school, the daycare, and the senior citizen center. While the summer months may be over, service never ends. This cupcake decorating session is the perfect event for your club to replicate!
