Jabbawockeez, winners of this year’s “Best Family Friendly Show” by In Vegas Magazine (an honor won four years in a row) is one of the few shows on The Strip that manages to entertain everyone in the family. My 82-year old mom enjoyed this show as much as myself and the kids of all ages in the daily sold-out audience. The powerful performance with lots of laughs, a high-tech light show, and video skits make this an all-around good time.
Jabbawockeez, ganadores del “Mejor espectáculo familiar” en In Vegas Magazine (un honor ganado cuatro años consecutivos) es uno de los pocos shows en el Strip que se logra entretener a toda la familia, mi mamá de 82 años disfrutó tanto como yo y los niños de todas las edades en la audiencia, el poderoso show con un montón de risas, espectaculares luces de alta tecnología, vídeos y gran diversión.
Jabbawockeez has developed a one-of-a-kind style that has positioned the group as the most influential dance crew in the world, effectively changing the way people view dance entertainment. Known for their creativity, choreography, athleticism, and intricate synchronization, each member of the crew brings a different technique and perspective to form the unique style that makes them so distinct and entertaining. With their signature look of expressionless white masks and gloves, the performers guide the audience’s attention away from individual identities and towards a unified group. They first gained attention after winning Season One of “America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV and their fan base grew with their first production in Las Vegas, entitled MÜS.I.C which opened at the MGM Grand in 2010 and played to sold out audiences. Later, they moved to Monte Carlo where their success continued. Their next production, the colorful and humorous show PRiSM, opened in 2013 at Luxor and featured an expanded cast of 13 choreo-dancers and b-boys. Their most recent production, JREAMZ, Journey Within, is currently playing at MGM Grand in the newly renovated Jabbawockeez Theater. JREAMZ takes the audience on an intimate, dreamlike journey and features all new music, choreography, and stunning visuals created by multi-projector theater mapping. The Jabbawockeez have won multiple awards including Best Family Show and Best All Ages Show. They have toured around the globe, performed alongside celebrities, appeared in film, and have been seen on numerous television shows including “Dancing with The Stars,” 2009 NBA All-Star Game, “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and “I Can Do That.” Jabbawockeez have performed as the featured show at Universal Studios “Hollywood Horror Nights” in 2015 and 2016, with a custom 30-minute show created specifically for the two-month long Halloween event. In November 2016, they performed, without their masks, on the American Music Awards, dancing alongside singer Bruno Mars for his highly acclaimed, high energy show-opening performance.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: Producer, Sir Harry Cowell, has moved his fantastic show to Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, inside Vinyl at 8:30 p.m., Sunday thru Wednesday, and believes this might be the perfect place. The musical tribute show featuring the music of The Who, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and plenty of other names in rock music history. “We couldn’t have picked a more fitting show to bring to Vinyl,” Chas Smith, Vice President of entertainment at Hard Rock Hotel, said in a statement. “Hosting a full-scale production in an intimate venue like Vinyl will give fans an up-close rock ’n’ roll experience like they’ve never seen before.” RAIDING THE ROCK VAULT started at the Westgate and I saw it at least 12 times. It closed and reopened in the Tropicana within three days. It closed out there last summer. RAIDING tells the story of classic rock from the 1960s through the ’80s, performed by members of some well-known veteran rock bands. The show’s rotating lineup includes guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio); vocalist Paul Shortino (Quiet Riot); drummer Jay Schellen (Asia, Badfinger); bassist Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi); and guitarist Traci Guns (Guns N’ Roses, L.A. Guns) along with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, guitarist Howard Leese (Heart). Sir Harry also has Country Rock in Branson, Missouri. Seating 340 people with room for 40 standing. Jason travels the world giving seminars and helping out plenty of people who want to be aware of what evils the world holds. He will tell you how to escape rope, duct tape, and zip ties, the secret of situational awareness, everyday items to carry in a gear bag, how to pick locks, hotwire a car, and to disappear without a trace. Over the course of this one hour show, you may be asked to try your skills on the stage. Don't be afraid to volunteer, this is how you will learn. You can potentially save your life and that of a loved one. Learn defense techniques with a common item, a tactical pen. Master the skill of seeing if you or your home is a target and how to avoid being robbed or hurt. Learn to be a human lie detector and how to protect your valuable information on your credit cards or computer. I was amazed at what we learned in an hour and would recommend this show to anyone. EVENT DESCRIPTION: THE 28TH ANNUAL SPLENDOR IN THE GLASS, a wonderful wine and beer tasting afternoon and evening was held at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa at Crimson. This is a yearly event, changing locations to highlight some of the marvelous vendors we have in Las Vegas. This year there were over 40 wineries and breweries that came out to participate from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. There were talks by various companies who represented fantastic products. Great raffle prizes included a stay at the Venetian, A Staycation at South Point, a night at the Cosmopolitan, tickets on Jet Blue, dance lessons from Arthur Murray, a top-notch guitar, and tickets to the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Entertainment was provided by DigDug. A new premium sparkling wine cocktail called Hug was out this year, and I loved all the wines from Constellation and Teriato. Treasury Wine Estate and Pernod Ricard, The Deutsch Family and Beso del Sol, along with Bronco were just a few that one could sample, along with Mam Cellars and Wagner Family of Wines participated. From the door opening at 4 p.m., people poured thru to sip and taste and meet friends they see at this yearly event. Every time a story appears on the filming of a new movie of this franchise, a question immediately arises: Is it better than the last?
Cada vez que aparece una noticia sobre la filmación de una nueva película de esta franquicia, de inmediato surge la pregunta: ¿Será mejor que la anterior?
The answer is always at the discretion of the fan of the series. The truth is that each film brings a different “I do not know” and in this octave of the saga, is not far behind.
La respuesta siempre queda al criterio del fan de la serie. Lo cierto es que cada filme aporta un “no se qué” distinto y en esta octava de la saga, no se quedan atrás.
Extraordinary the decision to show us a little of Cuba for lovers of films of this genre, because the atmosphere is charming and with flow. Then the selection of the villain, this time the Oscar-winning “Monster”, Charlize Theron, showing that cold vitality as the super hacker “Cypher”, if it was thought that “8 are enough.”

Mirren has already had moments of good action on the “Red” and “Red 2” tapes. Of course, the element of surprise is revealed half the story and allows the moviegoer identifies with the motivation of the protagonist immediately. Another success that engages is the sense of humor, even in moments for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham to show off without having to fist fight. Fast & Furious 8 has a new director: F Gary Gray, who has previously worked with VIn Diesel (“A Man Apart”), Johnson (“Be Cool”), Theron and Statham (“The Italian Job”), Is a veteran in the action film and part of that family. As added value, the team incorporates the son of veteran Clint Eastwood, Scott Eastwood, looking for a tenuous replacement to the figure of Paul Walker and give greater prominence to veteran Kurt Russell, knowing them as “Little Nobody” and “Mr. Nobody” respectively. The film has the same formula as always, is inconsistent and at times inconsistent, but never betrays the audience expecting more noise and many more nuts. Worth it, definitely, and check back to Tego Calderón and Don Omar.

Sometimes, taking inspiration from classics to offer a different approach can be very dangerous. In the case of “Life” by the Swedish-based Chilean Daniel Espinosa (“Snabba cash” and “Safe House”), review Ridley Scott’s horror and science fiction work (“Alien” and “Prometeo”), To add a little bit of the scary “Lifeforce” of Tobe Hooper (“Poltergeist”), to put some of “Gravity” of Alfonso Caurón in the edge and to finish it with a mixture of “Saw” of James Wan and “Planet of the apes “ by Franklin Shaffner, caused something to get damaged in this shake and what at first promised good taste, then went bitter.

The rules of the genre warn you quickly that the crew will fall one by one inside or outside the ship, as well as that the survivors will do the impossible to make this organism not land. As a viewer, as we know, the issue with this film is how they present it and how they produce an end that catches the eye. There, they assert, otherwise, i think they do not.

There is a good choice of cast, however, the interaction of each character feels cold and distant, lacking in magic and except for the case of Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission impossible: Rogue Nation”), they need some intelligent life inside of the ship. In the end, it is about entertainment and “Life” gets it without scientific rigor and flavor of science fiction that we like so much. ¿What do you think of?

Never stop singing.” As a sculptor, Gary was commissioned by a Catholic Mother Superior nun to create a statue of Jesus Christ for the front of her hospital. During its creation, Gary was guided by a Miracle. The story was broadcasted throughout the World on Easter Sunday by the Voice of Prophecy Radio. The Christ statue was featured on the cover of their International Magazine as a message of hope for the World. El mundo lo ha intentado y no lo ha logrado. El Universo lo ha intentado y ha fallado. El tiempo lo ha intentado y ha fracasado. Dioses lo han intentado, y se han frustrado. Brillan de par en par y se lucen en el manjar de una noche bañada con aceites de la última cosecha. Y se fritan milagros, devociones mediocres, y estampitas de santos sin reverso ni oración. Valentías baratas y las alas que se arrastran a la papelera que recicla las plegarias vomitadas entre versos atragantados. Textos que siguen participando “sanos y salvos” en el envase retornable de una vida sin retorno. Y sobrevive entre fechas adulteradas de vencimientos que postergan el adiós inevitable de una despedida amputada.

REGRESO A CASA Escritor: Ferdinand Von Nielsen Peter, un talentoso decorador de interiores aun yacía extrañado por un pedido que el viejo abogado Greg, un amigo de su padre le había encomendado a embellecer la casa de una alejada población costera. Había cargado con una extraña selección de artículos y debía hacerlo solo. Aquel hombre viejo que conocía del mundo pero también algo reservado y excéntrico, su casa resultaba en un museo que podía caer en lo bizarro con historias tan increíbles que el mismo Stephen King debía irlo a visitar para tomar nota. Para cuando Greg le contactó ya tenía años retirado con bastantes honorarios cobrados para estar tranquilo. Sin embargo su actividad aun no acababa del todo pues su último acto recaía en haber solicitado los servicios de Peter para reparar una casa de su último cliente. Aquello por supuesto no podía ser un trabajo que extrañare a Peter excepto que en primer lugar debía buscar tapices de 1940, cierto número de muebles y arreglos antiguos y lo más intrigante resaltaba en que el antiguo ocupante estaba muy prendado con la casa desde hacía mucho tiempo. Se apreciaba el sol del atardecer en un paisaje de casas antiguas, tan viejas como los robles que adornaban las colinas y aquel cumulo de casas a un pequeño pueblo de una sola calle con una iglesia de roca negra que lucía una silueta gotica. A unos quinientos metros más adelante y en terreno alto lucia la famosa casa de Lendley 45. Peter protestó con su mirada, en su vista inicial miraba en esa casa de dos plantas con pórtico y pintura blanca caída había que hacer un trabajo enorme. El interior estaba aún peor, el piso se hallaba maltrecho y cualquier vestigio de la casa dejaba mucho que desear. No era el lugar que alguien quisiera regresar a menos que un fuerte sentimiento de nostalgia lo atara hacia esa casa arruinada. Sin embargo era un trabajo, uno más que debía realizar en tiempo record. Peter fue a un expendio de madera, se hizo de la ayuda de cuatro hombres que contrató con dinero del fondo de la restauración que por más compras que hacia no parecía acabarse. Primero levantaron el piso poniendo vigas nuevas y las tablas que sustituirán el piso que embellecieron la casa. Del exterior aparentemente la madera no estaba más que despintada y algunas tablas que había que remplazar. Lijaron, pintaron y barnizaron con rapidez junto con otros siete trabajadores que Peter solicitó para los trabajos más difíciles y al cabo de dos días y medio habían acabado, los
trabajadores dejaron completamente óptima la casa. Peter yacía muy contento pagando generosamente a los hombres que se desocuparon de sus actividades para ayudarle. Sin embargo aquella noche donde cenaron con pizza casera la extrañeza regresó al decorador. Pues los hombres decían que al menos ellos desde que eran niños siempre vieron vacía y descuidada la casa. Ni siquiera los hippies quisieron establecerse en esa casa en los 60. Al siguiente día llegaba el camión con los efectos personales del cliente y muebles que el también escogió. De pronto el electricista ha salido para decirle que la instalación era tan vieja que debía estar en un museo, por doscientos accedió a instalarla lo más rápido posible respetando los viejos marcos de cobre de 1900. Todo esto resultaba cada vez más extraño cuando un tráiler con los muebles arribó acompañados de un curador de museos, eso se volvió aún más desconcertante, el hombre explico que debía supervisar algunos de los bienes que eran tesoros prestados a museos y ahora regresaban a aquella casona recién restaurada. Peter dejo de lado ello comparado a la mueblería que yacía tan bien conservada siendo acomodada en las dos plantas denotando el reflejo de años muy distantes en la forma de los muebles y los accesorios de los cuales figuraban muchas lámparas de aceite, una máquina de coser antigua y muchos otros elementos raros para él. La gente que pasaba por el sendero obscurecido por el ocaso volteaba a la casa que desde sus memorias jamás la habían visto ocupada. Menos llegaron a imaginar que sería por la persona que dejó la casa en boca del abogado. Peter pagó a los hombres que transportaron los muebles, terminaba de colocar cada elemento entre manteles, objetos de cerámica, jarrones, vajillas, todo bastante antiguo hasta ver las fotografías, todas ellas de 1920 hacia atrás, el no terminaba de comprender quien tan anciano podía regresar a esta casa. Se quedó sentado revisando su tableta en el comedor esperando por la persona cuya cita seria en alrededor

CÓMO SENTIRME CAFÉ EN CINCO MINUTOS Escritor: Jerónimo Manrique treinta minutos, todo ello empezaba a generarle inquietud conforme su agenda en la tableta le resultó fastidiosa en conjunto a la espera desesperante. Fue en un lapsus de ansiedad mirando a una esquina observó fotos que no fueron acomodadas. Las tomó y acomodó al azar cuando finalmente empezó a ver con sentido las fotos, era una sola persona constante en las fotografías de grupo pero eran tan viejas que no lo notaba, pero la última le dejó congelado, era una fotografía de 1941 con el mismo hombre situado en un ataúd y una leyenda “ultima fotografía post mortem del pueblo Tray hill” Todo esto no tenía sentido excepto que se trataría de un pariente de la familia, Peter rio por la sugestión que le generó la situación hasta que tocaron la puerta. Con relajada actitud el hombre abrió la puerta dejándose ver un hombre suspendido en plena momificación que llevaba un impecable traje sastre y sombrero negro que rápidamente causaron en Peter un Shock haciéndolo caer de espaldas. El ser nigromante entró a la casa levantando su sombrero saludando y moviéndose con naturalidad, de vez en cuando levantaba una sonrisa levemente dibujada en la carne conforme miraba el excelente trabajo. Peter aun pasmado del susto levemente descendía en su miedo mirando que el muerto vivo miraba y hacía gestos de aprobación por el excelente trabajo de la restauración de la casa. Dio las gracias a Peter diciendo que el resto del dinero del fondo de restauración le pertenecía, eran cinco millones. Peter salió del pueblo sin siquiera preguntarse sobre lo que pasaría después, a fin de cuentas el cliente quedó completo y no se comparaba a otros excéntricos. Lo cual lo llevó a expandir su negocio a redecorar criptas y tumbas.
Esa forma de sostener una taza de café con sus dos manos expide ternura, una mano cubre a la otra como si dijera “tranquila, aquí nada te va a pasar. Estoy aquí para cuidarte”; luego la acercas a tu rostro sin afán y con mucha suavidad, como si fuera algo que haces desde tiempos remotos, una tradición inmarcesible. Esa forma de sostener una taza de café y robarte toda mi atención, lo haces sin darte cuenta y yo, yo quedo absorto y en blanco por unos instantes, esos instantes que se alargan y sugieren infinidad. Dejas que el perfume cafeinado inunde tus pulmones y yo quisiera ser esa infusión para poder llenarte de nuevo de alguna manera. Reposas la taza en tu labio inferior y la inclinas para poder sorber, como me apetece que me sorbieras; esbozo mi rostro en tus manos y mis labios en los tuyos mientras me tomas con esa gentileza y dices “tranquilo chiquitín, aquí nada te va a pasar. Estoy aquí para cuidarte” y bebes hasta mi sombra, me bebes como si no fuera un pocillo roto, me bebes como si fuera esa taza de café que tienes en tus manos. Yo intento imitarte pero solo consigo sentirme como un hombre oliendo un café antes de tomarlo, no consigo igualar la perfección de tu rito pero si logro ver la perfección que conlleva la danza de la taza. Entiendo la disposición de cada parte de tu cuerpo, entiendo la composición atómica de la situación, siento la solemnidad del culto al aroma de un café fresco y siento envidia. La tirria me desborda y quisiera ser ese café. O cualquier otro café que se encuentre en tus manos o quizá quisiera ser yo... Pero en tus manos y tus labios y sentirme café.

Hikikomori, The XXI Syndrome Hikikomori, Síndrome del siglo XXI

It is a kind of social suicide. Hikikomori means “withdrawing or being isolated” in Japanese. It is called the sociological phenomenon and people, especially children and adolescents, who are isolated from direct contact with the outside world, being confined to a room in the home and addicted to a virtual world. Hikikomoris are functionally limited. Their “activity” consists of watching television or entering a computer, whether playing video games, surfing the internet or interacting in social networks. They do not leave the house under any circumstances, only in extreme situations, before any illness that requires them to visit a clinic or hospital. So far, there are only a few hypotheses regarding the causes of this disorder. Some doctors consider that the new technologies and the virtual means that absorb the youth, make that they lose the contact with the reality. On the other hand, it is speculated on psychological causes, such as extreme shyness, low self-esteem, insecurity and depressive personality.
Es una especie de suicidio social. Hikikomori significa” apartarse o estar recluido” en japonés. Se denomina así al fenómeno sociológico y a las personas, especialmente niños y adolescentes, quienes se aíslan del contacto directo con el mundo exterior, quedando confinados a una habitación del hogar y adictos a un mundo virtual. Los hikikomoris terminan limitados funcionalmente. Su “actividad” consiste en ver la televisión o internarse en un computador, ya sea jugando videojuegos, navegando por internet o interactuando en redes sociales. No salen de la casa bajo ninguna circunstancia, solo en situaciones extremas, ante alguna enfermedad que los obligue a visitar una clínica o un hospital. Hasta ahora, solo hay algunas hipótesis con respecto a las causas que producen este trastorno. Algunos médicos consideran que las nuevas tecnologías y los medios virtuales que absorben a la juventud, hacen que pierdan el contacto con la realidad. Por otro lado se especula sobre causas psicológicas, como la timidez extrema, baja autoestima, inseguridad y personalidad depresiva.

This phenomenon was identified in Japan, where millions are already affected. In fact, the term Hikikomori was coined by the Japanese psychiatrist Tamaki Salto in the year 2000. It should be noted that Japanese young people are very prone to addiction to video games because of the permissiveness and absence of parents. Many Japanese parents have chosen to send the hikikomoris children abroad, hoping that the change of environment will help them to get out of the disorder. However, on most occasions, what happens is that they transfer the problem to the host family. This was how the disorder was known in the West. Today the Hikikomoris have spread in Europe and in Latin America. More than 200 cases have been reported in Spain in patients with an average isolation of 40 months and an extreme case of 30 years of selfseizure, according to the Instituto de Neuropsiquiatría y Adicciones del Hospital del Mar de Barcelona The mental affectation for this disorder is inescapable. However, some hikikomoris care about physical health and personal care. This to avoid having to go out for a medical or dental visit. They exercise and take care of hygiene to avoid diseases. Others simply neglect, affecting their quality of life. Such is the deterioration that present eating disorders, malnutrition, malnutrition and morbid obesity among others. Many times they eat only what they can hold in one hand so they can remain “connected” to the computer with the other. The above triggers dysfunctionality in interpersonal relationships and in the ability to live in society. It is necessary to avoid the spread of this new scourge in our youth. Preventive care requires special attention from parents and educators. Be aware of the amount of time that children and students spend in front of the television, a computer, a tablet or a cell phone. When these days of virtual activity are too long and begin to show self-confinement, for example term of several months, may be the symptom of this disease.

Este fenómeno se identificó en Japón, en donde ya hay millones de afectados. De hecho, el término Hikikomori fue acuñado por el psiquiatra japonés Tamaki Salto en el año 2000. Cabe resaltar que los jóvenes japoneses son muy proclives a la adicción a los videojuegos, debido a la permisividad y ausencia de los padres. Muchos padres japoneses han optado por enviar a los hijos hikikomoris al extranjero, esperando que el cambio de ambiente los ayude a salir del trastorno. Sin embargo, en la mayoría de ocasiones, lo que ocurre es que trasladan el problema a la familia anfitriona. Fue así como se conoció el trastorno en Occidente. Hoy en día los Hikikomoris se han propagado en Europa y en Hispanoamérica. Ya se han reportado más de 200 casos en España de pacientes con un promedio de aislamiento de cuarenta meses y un caso extremo de treinta años de auto reclusión, según el Instituto de Neuropsiquiatría y Adicciones del Hospital del Mar de Barcelona. La afectación mental por este trastorno es ineludible. No obstante, algunos hikikomoris se preocupan por la salud física y por el cuidado personal. Esto para evitar tener que salir a una visita médica u odontológica. Hacen ejercicio y cuidan la higiene para evitar enfermedades. Otros simplemente se descuidan, afectando su calidad de vida. Es tal el deterioro que presentan desórdenes alimenticios, desnutrición, malnutrición y obesidad mórbida entre otras. Muchas veces comen solo aquello que pueden sostener en una mano para poder seguir “conectados” al computador con la otra. En estos casos la exposición a una pantalla y mantener una misma postura durante largos periodos, resulta en traumatismos oculares y en problemas musculares y de articulaciones. De igual manera, el aislamiento prolongado produce perdidas de habilidades sociales. Los referentes éticos y morales terminan siendo aquellos de las películas y de los videojuegos, que muchas veces son ficción y por ende, ajenos a los parámetros de la realidad. Lo anterior desencadena disfuncionalidad en las relaciones interpersonales y en la capacidad para vivir en sociedad. Es necesario evitar la propagación de este nuevo flagelo en nuestra juventud. El cuidado preventivo requiere especial atención por parte de padres de familia y educadores. Se debe estar atento a la cantidad de tiempo que pasan los hijos y alumnos frente a la televisión, a un computador, una tablet o un celular. Cuando estas jornadas de actividad virtual se prolongan demasiado y comienzan a evidenciar auto confinamiento, por ejemplo encierros de varios meses, puede ser el síntoma de esta enfermedad.

Although their acceptance and relevance in modern societies’ framework is recent, Deaf Comunities possess, from the earliest times of human expression, grammatical systems and very specific visual codes that allow (or have allowed us) to expand our communicational spectrum. We know well what verbal and nonverbal communication is, and how the last mentioned is, to the surprise of many, the one that reveals most of the information we usually get. People who are born or who acquire a hearing impairment lack, in the first instance, that innate ability we have to decipher and adopt complex linguistic codes of our environment, which we call languages, which we take as the first and main means of communication in our lives. Not in vain, the fact of not being able to receive information through the auditory channels, does not prevent or limit (that is, doesn’t limit) a person’s ability to express himself or herself coherently. Sign languages are systems as complex as phonetic languages, as they have grammar rules and exceptions as well as variants for every Deaf community around the world. This is because, in particular to those who possess this condition, deafness “obliges” in some way to adopt, as a solution, the elements of our visual environment to be able to resolve the conflicts of daily life. But, beyond that, as human beings we have the essential need to communicate between ourselves and the world, so, if these complex systems did not exist, we could not have articulated thoughts or ordered ideas. The latter is crucial, no, fundamental to our development. As a society, historically we have gone through hieroglyphics, writing, languages, signaling, any method that helps us express ourselves to achieve a purpose, and according to the various purposes that have arisen, we have also been able to vary the way in which we have developed through codes. That is why there are symbologies, graphics, laws. Well, returning to the topic of the Deaf, it’s interesting how a person with a disability known as hearing loss manages to exploit the visual resources of their environment to implement them when it comes to contact the outside world. But, as is the case with all “sick” or disabled people, the deaf have always been underestimated and taken less notice at than the hearing people. Although the community itself is seen as a cultural and linguistic minority, for several decades they have struggled for their rights to be enforced. This is in all areas of knowledge and human leisure, so it is logical that organizations implement laws or decrees so that the Deaf can be integrated gradually with the listeners. A clear and very important example of this is the mention in two articles of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the cultural and linguistic rights of the group: article 84 enshrines the right of Deaf people to communicate in the language of Venezuelan signs, while the 101 establishes that the media have the duty to disseminate the values of
Aunque su aceptación y relevancia en el marco de las sociedades modernas es reciente, las comunidades de Sordos son poseedoras, desde los tiempos más remotos de la expresión humana, de sistemas gramaticales y códigos visuales muy particulares que les permiten (o que nos han permitido) expandir nuestro espectro comunicacional. Conocemos bien lo que es la comunicación verbal y no verbal, y cómo esta última es, para sorpresa de muchos, la que revela la mayor parte de la información que habitualmente hacemos llegar. Las personas que nacen o que adquieren una discapacidad auditiva carecen, en primera instancia, de esa habilidad innata que tenemos para descifrar y adoptar códigos lingüísticos complejos de nuestro ambiente, lo que llamamos lenguas, que tomamos como primera y principal vía de comunicación en nuestras vidas. No en balde, el hecho de no poder recibir información a través de los canales auditivos, no imposibilita ni limita (así es, no limita) la capacidad de una persona para expresarse coherentemente. Las lenguas de señas son sistemas tan complejos como las lenguas fonéticas, pues tienen reglas gramaticales y excepciones, así como variantes para todas y cada una de las comunidades de Sordos alrededor del mundo. Esto se debe a que, muy particularmente de quienes poseen esta condición, la sordera “obliga” de alguna manera a adoptar, como una solución, los elementos de nuestro entorno visual para poder resolver los conflictos de la vida diaria. Pero, más allá de eso, como seres humanos tenemos la necesidad imprescindible de comunicarnos entre nosotros y con el mundo, por eso, si no existieran estos complejísimos sistemas, no podríamos tener pensamientos articulados ni ideas ordenadas. Esto último es crucial, no, fundamental para nuestro desarrollo. Como sociedad, históricamente hemos pasado por los jeroglíficos, la escritura, los idiomas, la señalización, cualquier método que nos ayude a expresarnos para lograr un fin, y según los diversos fines que hayan surgido, también hemos sido capaces de variar la manera en la que nos desenvolvemos mediante códigos. Por eso existen las simbologías, grafismos, leyes. Pues bien, volviendo al tema de los Sordos, resulta interesante cómo una persona con la discapacidad conocida como hipoacusia logra explotar los recursos visuales de su ambiente para implementarlos a la hora de contactar con el mundo exterior. Pero, como viene sucediendo con todas las personas “enfermas” o discapacitadas, los sordos siempre se han visto menospreciados y tomados menos en cuenta que las personas oyentes. Aunque la propia comunidad se hace ver como una minoría cultural y lingüística, desde hace varias décadas han luchado para que sus derechos se hagan valer. Esto en todos los ámbitos del conocimiento y el ocio humano, por lo que es lógico que las organizaciones implementen leyes o decretos para que los Sordos puedan integrarse poco a poco con los oyentes. Un claro e importantísimo ejemplo de esto, es la mención que se hace en dos artículos de la constitución de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela a los derechos culturales y lingüísticos del grupo: el artículo 84 consagra el derecho de las personas Sordas a

popular tradition, through the incorporation of tools that can help the Deaf to be informed as a citizen, see subtitles or a sign interpreter . If these were not enough, the constitutional and legal recognition of the sign language and the Deaf community places Venezuela as an advanced country in the field of minority rights, as well as a few other European and Scandinavian nations that consecrate the linguistic rights of The Deaf community. Not in vain, in Latin America, countries like Uruguay (1986) and Colombia (1996) have also made legal acknowledgments. All this reveals that this social condition is charging or has been gaining strength with the years, since they are accepted as citizens belonging to a society with a linguistic condition that groups them as a minority, with the same rights as the listeners. Following such position, it differs openly between deafness, which is the lack of auditory sense as a whole, and Deafness (with a capital D), which is the social and linguistic condition. In this way, sign language has facilitated the advancement and integration of this group, in addition to communicational level is consecrated as a language widely studied and spoken around the world, so it is given the particularity that each community develops their own system over time, there have been international encounters of Deaf people, as well as the support of many linguists and anthropologists in research that argue that sign languages are functionally equivalent to spoken languages because users can execute the same processes communicative and cognitive. It can be concluded that the importance of these languages is that, within the social context in which the Deaf are developed, coupled with the decrees in some constitutional cases, are communicational alternatives that go hand in hand with the phonetic languages and, therefore, their inclusion and study is necessary to break the social barriers.

De esta manera, la lengua de señas ha facilitado el avance y la integración de este grupo, además de que a nivel comunicacional se consagra como un idioma ampliamente estudiado y hablado alrededor del mundo, por lo que se da la particularidad de que cada comunidad desarrolla su propio sistema con el tiempo, se han realizado encuentros internacionales de Sordos, así como el apoyo de muchos lingüistas y antropólogos en las investigaciones que argumentan que las lenguas de señas son funcionalmente equivalentes a las lenguas habladas, porque los usuarios pueden ejecutar los mismos procesos comunicativos y cognitivos. Se puede concluir que la importancia de estas lenguas está en que, dentro del contexto social en el que se desenvuelven los Sordos, aunado a los decretos en algunos casos constitucionales, son alternativas comunicacionales que van a la par con las lenguas fonéticas y, por ende, su inclusión y estudio es necesario para romper las barreras sociales.

Recently, while discussing evaluation results with parents, I have fielded questions about how to handle concerns about children potentially having learning disabilities such as ADHD and autism. As I informed the parents on how to interact with the school regarding testing for learning disabilities I realized how many parents do not know their rights concerning diagnosis in public school. Here are some important things that you need to know if you think your child might need to be tested for a learning disability.
Recientemente, al discutir los resultados de la evaluación con los padres, he preguntado cómo manejar las preocupaciones acerca de los niños que potencialmente tienen problemas de aprendizaje como el ADHD y el autismo. Tal como informé a los padres en la forma cómo interactuar con la escuela con respecto a la prueba de problemas de aprendizaje, me di cuenta de cuántos padres no conocen sus derechos con respecto al diagnóstico en la escuela pública. The first thing a school will do is provide the child with a Response to Intervention, or RTI, which is implemented if a child is struggling to maintain grade level skills. The RTI is not a requirement before testing. The right to testing exists regardless of RTI. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 provides that public school districts must “identify, locate, and evaluate every child who may have a disability requiring special education services.” This gives parents and educators the right to request a full, individual, comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation. The Federal law sets forth a time frame of 60 days for the evaluation to be completed, however, it can vary by state. The following is a sample letter that can be used to request an evaluation:

La RTI no es un requisito antes de la prueba. El derecho a la prueba existe independientemente de RTI. La Ley de Educación para Personas con Discapacidades del 2004 establece que los distritos escolares públicos deben “identificar, ubicar y evaluar a cada niño que pudiera tener una discapacidad que necesite los servicios de una educación especial”. Esto les da a los padres y educadores el derecho de solicitar una evaluación completa, individual, integral y multidisciplinaria. La Ley Federal establece un plazo de 60 días para que la evaluación sea completada, sin embargo, puede variar según el estado. When you are independent and you work for yourself there will always be someone who asks you: hey and how do you pay your bills? how do you live? Is it hard? Most will look at you with terror and few will congratulate you, some would like to do so, but because of multiple commitments they can’t, just as always respect to the one who decides to work for someone because not all were born to be independent.
Cuando eres independiente y trabajas para ti siempre habrá alguien que te pregunte ¿Oye y cómo haces para pagar tus cuentas?, ¿Cómo vives?, ¿Es difícil? La mayoría te mira con cara de terror y pocos te felicitan, algunos quisieran hacerlo pero por múltiples compromisos no pueden, igual siempre respeto al que decide trabajar para alguien porque no todos nacieron para ser independientes.
Of course, I work and even more than the one with a fixed schedule, the detail is that I program, organize and use the agenda to take control of what I have to do every day, sometimes I wonder why people look in a strange way at those who don’t work for anyone or have made the decision to undertake, the truth I don’t know, I only know that the peace and tranquility of living to be your own boss is not paid by the best salary in the world.

At least in my case there are days where I’m doing a thousand things at once, washing, cleaning, attending the computer, making calls from my cell phone, updating the social networks of my company and writing and ordering what’s up on the week and I assure you that the time reaches because I always organize.

“Client service is the management that each person does when working at a company even if is macro or micro, and that has the opportunity of being in contact with clients, and look in them their total satisfaction”. Simple definition taken from Wikipedia and very well setting in context, as national as global for the simple fact that even if a company invest on this, without the company’s DNA truly understands it, it’ll loose reputation, and therefore the business. We scandalized a few weeks ago when the pizza and football players event happened, but ¿did we really point to ourselves those questions that are the key to analyze this whole so-called learned lesson? Now we were woke up by another viral phenomenon, that even, far away from our frontiers, it seems so near, by the simple fact that what stays in the mind is how do you treat your clients. According to the press, the United company, looking to free four sits on a matter of oversold flight, and with the purpose of moving some employees, it offers 800 dollars to whom voluntary cede their sits. Regardless of the amount offered (Ha! Try getting me off with 800 sticks, a friend said to me), it emerges a first fake step. The second fragile movement happens when supposedly a flight assistant announced that the plane would not go anywhere until four passengers leave voluntarily. The “issue” still remains inside the plane, even without a raise “smartphone”. By the way, is this item among the control risks in a possible crisis situation manual? Perhaps yes it is but inside a drawer at the high manager office as the moocher meter that they sell on the agency price, and even better, with no recollection possibility of this

“El servicio al cliente es la gestión que realiza cada persona que trabaja en una empresa así sea macro o micro y que tiene la oportunidad de estar en contacto con los clientes y buscar en ellos su total satisfacción”. Definición simple tomada de la Wikipedia y muy puesta en contexto, tanto a nivel nacional como global por el simple hecho de que por más que una empresa invierta en esto, sin que el ADN de la compañía realmente lo entienda, perderá reputación, y por ende negocio. Nos escandalizamos hace algunas semanas cuando se dio el incidente de la pizzería y los jugadores de fútbol, pero ¿realmente nos hicimos las preguntas que valen la pena analizar en toda esta lección dizque aprendida? Ahora nos despertó otro fenómeno viral, que incluso, lejos de nuestras fronteras, se nos hace tan cercano, por el simple hecho de que lo que queda en el pensamiento es cómo tratas a tus clientes. Según reportes de prensa, la empresa United, buscando liberar cuatros sillas por un asunto de vuelo sobrevendido, y con el propósito de trasladar a unos empleados, ofrece 800 dólares a quienes de forma voluntaria cedan sus puestos. Independientemente del monto que ofrecieron (Ja! Intenten bajarme por 800 palos, me decía un amigo), surge un primer paso en falso. El segundo movimiento frágil se da cuando, supuestamente un auxiliar de vuelo anunciaba que el avión no iría a ningún lado hasta que cuatro pasajeros salgan de forma voluntaria. El “issue” sigue estando dentro del avión, aún sin un “smartphone” levantado. Por cierto, ¿está este objeto entre los riesgos controlados en un manual ante situaciones de posible crisis? Posiblemente sí, pero

I insist, sometimes, word selection says a lot about how who communicative accompany you in a situation like this, that someone would think that for them wasn’t seen as a crisis, although I understand they are reoffending, since Dave Carroll’s guitar I believe it cost millions of dollars in losses on their stock value to them. In less than 24 hours the company passed to the reputation basement and started working, I suppose that their “cracks”, plus routine consultant hours, but never enough to compensate for the loss they were experimenting. If the company values come to sink in a record time of 4.4% then the global indignation for the aforementioned subject little video, how do they reappear with a second announcement that is still interpreted as devoid of humanity and it seems to be orientated to calm down the investors who claim immediate actions before what they identify as a crisis. Now, when this is not a client service theme anymore but to stop the losses and the actions fall. ¿And the little doctor? Curiously, TMZ, People, and The New York Post show up as “the other side of the coin”, that could be interpreted as guerrilla communication to counteract the screwed up range.

Ya se vio cómo. En todo caso, da la impresión de que arrastrar y reacomodar figuran como sinónimos. ¿Lindo eufemismo estratégico? Insisto, a veces, la selección de palabras dice mucho sobre quién te acompaña comunicacionalmente en una situación como esta, que uno pensaría que para ellos no era vista como crisis, aunque entiendo son reincidentes, pues la guitarra del cantante Dave Carroll creo que les costó millones de dólares de pérdidas de su valor en la Bolsa. En menos de 24 horas la empresa pasó al sótano reputacional y puso a trabajar, supongo que a sus “cracks”, más horas consultadas de las rutinarias, pero nunca suficientes para compensar la pérdida que estaban experimentando. Si los valores de la empresa llegan a hundirse en tiempo récord 4.4% luego de la indignación global por el videíto de marras, cómo reaparecen con un segundo comunicado que sigue siendo interpretado como desprovisto de humanidad y que pareciera estar más orientado a calmar a los inversionistas que claman acciones inmediatas frente a lo que ya identifican como crisis. Ahora, ya no es un tema de atención al cliente sino de frenar las pérdidas y detener la caída de las acciones.

Mientras, en la comunicación formal, sale de nuevo la voz oficial: la aerolínea llevaría a cabo una revisión de sus procedimientos y políticas que se completarán para el 30 de abril. ¿Calma las aguas? Creo que no. Pregunten a la audiencia del “host” Jimmy Kimmel que disfrutaba morbosamente del “sketch” que hizo de inmediato sobre el tema. Las empresas, cada vez que se ven en situaciones de riesgo y crisis se apoyan en su equipo legal y financiero y dejan a un lado el tema de la comunicación, sólo hasta que las audiencias reclaman que la comunicación ha sido el gran ausente en la crisis. No se trata de quien comunica qué, a quién, en qué tiempo. Creo que en estos momentos se debe atender la situación, comunicarla oportunamente con profesionales idóneos que sean respetados por su experiencia y capacidades, no ser tacaño al invertir en esto de comunicar eficazmente, de manera integral, dejar a un lago los egos y sobre todo… entender que todo lo que haga o diga puede ser viralizado en su contra. Pero, ¿Qué se yo de comunicación? Realmente poco, seré un periodista más, de esos que no suenan ni traquean, con algunos intentos de gestión comunicacional, pero carajo... Entiendo sobre cosas justas y explicaciones sencillas. “Lo que pasó, pasó... entre tú y yo”, lo cantaba Daddy Yankee. Que lo reconozcan quienes metieron la pata, pero que se sienta sincero y cercano al cliente.

regional trails Regional trails are planned as part of the proposed 2,000-plus mile valley-wide trail system that will eventually connect the Summerlin Trail System with trails throughout the Las Vegas valley and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Proposed trails are located along the eight-mile 215 beltway and along flood control channels in Summerlin and are designed for multiple non-motorized uses. Regional trails are being constructed as a public/private partnership of Clark County and the City of Las Vegas in cooperation with The Howard Hughes Corporation.

SUMMERLIN PARKS Nearly one-third of Summerlin’s total acreage is designated as open space. In fact, each Summerlin village is designed around a major park or golf course. The community’s major parks feature a variety of recreational amenities, including play areas; swimming pools; lighted soccer, baseball and football fields; and lighted basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. The community is already home to more than 150 neighborhood and village parks - a number that will only grow as development continues in Summerlin. This map depicts existing and proposed development in Summerlin. If possible, and if conditions permit, you should take photos and video with your cell phone. The advent of transformative technology, like big data, social media and smartphones, has created a paradox when it comes to two alarming issues many working professionals are facing in 2017: cybersecurity and productivity. Whether you’re a school teacher, an IT support specialists, a sales manager or a nurse, working professionals often deal with many of the same issues when it comes to these two areas. According to Fortune, 58 percent of Fortune 500 companies say cybersecurity is the biggest challenge they currently face. Unfortunately, 15 percent of cyberattacks last year were done inadvertently by employees. Cybersecurity also creeps into our personal lives; nearly half of Americans have experienced a personable security breach. A steady decrease in productivity is also an issue for working professionals. Studies show that nearly half of U.S. workers put in an average of more than 50 work hours a week, but output drops sharply the more hours we work. The paradox is based not on whether or not working professionals should use technologies like social media and smartphones, but how to use the right technologies. These technologies can play an integral role in increasing your overall efficiency and security, but they, in turn, may in fact be the leading cause of recent trends of decreasing productivity and increasing cybersecurity concerns. While social media is great for tool for individuals to use for professional gains or communicating with customers, for example, it can also inadvertently expose sensitive information to hackers or be a distraction during your nine-to-five (employees admit to wasting 37% of time on social media).

Thankfully, there are a number work hacks – in the form of websites and applications – that can help ensure you’re using technology to boost, not deflate, your career. Here are a few of my favorites to help increase cybersecurity and productivity. 1. 1PASSWORD Passwords are used for virtually everything we do online, and can be one of the easiest nuts to crack for hackers seeking to steal your personal information. Verizon’s 2016 Data Breach Investigations Report found that 63 percent of data breaches were the result of weak or stolen passwords. Too often, individuals use simple passwords, like their birthdate or even “password,” or use the same password across multiple websites, making them easy targets for hackers. 1password makes it easy to keep your passwords secure by storing the passwords for all your websites under one master password. 2. DROPBOX Cloud-storage application, Dropbox, is another tool to aid cybersecurity for personal or corporate data. Dropbox is a free file hosting service that allows individuals to store and share documents, photos and videos up to 10 GB using the security of the Cloud. This app can help ensure data is backed up in case of a cyberattack or physical damage to a computer. It is important to make sure proper passwords are used to keep the app secure. 3. DOCUSIGN In 2017, printing, signing and faxing hard documents has become an archaic practice. Applications like DocuSign allow individuals the ability to quickly and securely send documents for electronic signature. DocuSign ensures multifaceted verification for authenticity and encryption for added security. Using this application not only ensures documents are more secure, as you don’t have to manage hard copies, but it also saves time. 4. FLIPBOARD We spend eight hours a day in front of a computer or with our smartphone nearby, tempting us to search the internet for our news and information. While this is fine, internet searches often uncover a bevy of information, leading us down a rabbit hole of unproductivity. A survey by Career Builder found that employees say they spend 41 percent of their time perusing the internet. Apps like Flipboard, a news and social media aggregator, brings all of your favorite and most-searched news and outlets to one place. This can help provide easy access to the information you want to find and less temptation to explore the depth of the web. 5. EVERNOTE We’ve all seen the desk covered with thousands of Post-It notes with reminders to reply to an email or attend a meeting. Maybe that desk belongs to you. Not only is this a poor way to manage calendars and reminders, it can also potentially expose sensitive personal and business information. Evernote allows you to organize, archive and share personal and professional projects across multiple platforms, increasing organization and security. Technologies like smartphones and mobile applications can be very valuable tools to help improve both one’s work and personal lives, but these same technologies may also play a role in negatively affecting the sensitive balance between the two. According to studies, nearly half of U.S. workers work an average of more than 50 hours a week, and many feel their time outside of work is limited. This is in part due to the increased exceptions that come with nearly unlimited access to technology. Smartphones and social media allow us to work anywhere at any time, and while the majority of U.S. employees say they have a good work-life balance, only one-third of employees strongly agree. Luckily, there are a number of life hacks – in the form of websites and mobile applications – that can make it possible to do more during your busy day. Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, “There’s an app for that.” Truth be told, there most likely is. Available mobile applications, as of June 2016, topped nearly three million. If you are looking for a tool to help save time or automate tasks, you’re in luck. The challenge is finding the best or right apps or websites to get the job done. Below are a few of my favorite websites and mobile applications to help you save time or aid self-improvement. 1. IF THIS THEN THAT (IFTTT) Think about your daily routine and image how much time you could save if your tasks were automated. That is where web-

Sure, many of these tasks don’t eat up much time in your day, but the time you do save can be used on more important tasks. 2. WUNDERLIST Productivity experts say there is one simple way to add two extra hours to your day – plan ahead. This advice may seem like a no-brainer, but for many of us, juggling work and life schedules can be a daunting task. Mobile application Wunderlist is one tool I use to better manage my days. This app allows you to manage and share multiple work projects, organize shopping lists or check off your to-dos with one user-friendly tool. 3. NOWAIT Breaks during the workday are important to combat brain fatigue, but research shows that only one in five American workers actually takes lunch breaks. For many of us, we simply don’t have the time to devote a couple hours to lunch. We run into the same issue after work. Wait times are normally at their longest during dinner hours. Nowait is a mobile app that allows you to view wait times and make reservations in advance, saving valuable time. To date, Nowait has saved customers more than 4 billion minutes. 4. SUPERBETTER Today, more and more, Americans are looking for ways to improve themselves, save time and make life a little easier and more enjoyable. If you are having difficulties reaching your goals, this app can help. 5. SPRITZLET Employees spend more than 41 percent of their time on the internet and, according to Pew Research Center, 38 percent of Americans prefer to read their news on the web. We spend a lot of our time reading, but there is a tool that can help you consume what you read faster. Spritzlet is a speed-reading bookmark extension that allows you to read large amounts of text quickly by presenting words one at a time, rather than line to line. This method can allow you to read up to 100 to 250 words per minute, which can reduce wasted time during your day.

Since 2013, drones have saved an average of one life per week, according to DJI Technology, the largest maker of civilian drones. Just this year, drones have been used in everything from Super Bowl halftime shows to Amazon and UPS package delivery tests. Drones can also be used for search and rescue during earthquakes, for unmanned surveillance, and warfare. USC experts in law, computing, engineering, and media are researching what is still a nascent technology already having a tangible impact on everyday life. These experts can discuss how the next generation of unmanned machines in the sky are shaping ethics, privacy, public safety, flight, and storytelling. A NEW WAY TO TRESPASS – LEGAL IMPLICATIONS “Trespass requires physical invasion — if I point my flashlight onto your property while walking my dog at night, I don’t trespass. If I interfere enough with your use and enjoyment of your property — say, by floodlighting it at night — I commit a nuisance. Nuisance requires a substantial and unreasonable interference with the use and enjoyment of land. “At the height that airplanes fly, airspace is a ‘commons.’ It’s owned by no one [or perhaps by everyone]. If I fly my drone onto your property five feet above the ground, though, it’s a trespass. “There is a tort recognized by most states called ‘intrusion upon seclusion.’ Drones that can photograph you in your backyard raise the issue of intrusion upon seclusion. If I spy on you in your backyard [with my binoculars, hidden in a tree], I’m intruding on your seclusion. People generally expect, when they are in their backyards, that they will be free from unwelcome observation.” Gregory C. Keating can discuss the legal and privacy implications of drones, especially as they regard nuisance, property and airspace laws. He is the William T. An aerial vehicle can fly through gaps while a ground vehicle might have difficulty going over rubble. Specifically, a team of autonomous robots can cover a large area simultaneously, making them desirable for fast response over large areas. “It makes sense for teams of robots to do these difficult tasks that are too dangerous or too difficult for people to do.” Nora Ayanian can discuss how teams of drones and other robots can be employed in autonomous teams, as well as the public safety, rescue, entertainment, and military applications of such coordination. She is an assistant professor of computer science at USC Viterbi and director of the Automatic Coordination of Teams Lab at USC. She has also been named an MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35. We are now only days away from one of the biggest affairs of the year for the NFL. It is so accurate to refer to draft night as an affair. If you’ve never viewed draft night, it is set up in a way that would remind you of Oscar night, the Grammys, or even the Miss Universe pageant.

The 49ers were unfortunate during last season having set records for some of the poorest play in franchise history. However, on this night, they are in position to be rewarded for such a horrible season. The San Francisco team will be picking second as far as is known at this hour. That could change if the 49ers choose to trade down. Trading down to another team would drop them from such a high position, but the move would add more picks per round that is agreed upon between them and any trade partner. Since the 49ers have a need for a lot of new stars, this may be the direction they take. There are seven rounds. The more picks you have, the better, especially after the first round.
