People often ask how the Bay Area became so diverse when it comes to careers and staple industries. Its deeplyrooted culture and rich history is brought about by several places and events. San Francisco played a huge role, but we’ll talk about it at another time. Today, we’ll focus on the techno-economic revolution and its impact on the emerging generation.

Su fuertemente enraizada cultura y rica historia es provocada por varios lugares y eventos. San Francisco jugó un rol muy importante, pero esa es historia para otro día. When it comes to engaging your audience, the trick is to build up anticipation so that you leave them wanting more.

This is forcing the lower earning families to move into more affordable neighborhoods.

By giving the audience insight into the macro environment, they can form their personal opinions, either as consumers or investors. On either side, this subject will draw some level of interest because it’s a topic that most people can relate to.

WHAT’S THE SOLUTION? No matter where you stand on how the tech boom is impacting the Bay Area, it’s clear that it’s creating an imbalance that must be corrected. City officials have put their heads together to try to develop legislation to accommodate the current housing environment. One of the buzzwords has been ‘rent control’—putting a ceiling on the percentage of rent increases.

When giving a presentation, details matter. It’s okay to highlight both perspectives if you prefer to take an objective stance. What’s important is telling a story that delivers strong, informative insight.

Effective communication is truly the key to telling an engaging story during your presentation. If you intend to captivate your audience, talk about something that matters to them. Speak in detail, paint a picture, and present viable solutions for them to consider.

Already the violence of the human being is reaching limits that surpass any type of fiction. Generally when thinking about violence it comes to our mind war, racial discrimination, aggression by territory, by religion, gangs or guerrillas. Now this kind of pandemic springs from any absurd cause. In this case, it is manifesting itself in supposedly educated young people and in forms that clearly show a reversal of values.

There is a movement that is agglutinated and strengthened through social networks; Young people who are willing to kill and kill themselves for a false leadership status, based on violence and hatred; All for a number of “likes” on the networks. On the one hand, they overestimate the admiration of one group and on the other they devalue the life of a human being. It is almost a paradox.

I have always been struck by that unbridled longing for popularity among youth, particularly in America. It is clearly seen in the cinema, in those films involving university students. It does not matter who or what you are as long as you are “popular”. It is understandable that social approval is a necessity of the human being. At the end of the day we

Ahora está especie de pandemia brota desde cualquier causa absurda. En este caso, se está manifestando en jóvenes supuestamente educados y en formas que claramente evidencian un vuelco de valores.

Existe un movimiento que se aglutina y se fortalece a través de las redes sociales; jóvenes que están dispuestos a matar y a matarse por un estatus de falso liderazgo, basado en la violencia y el odio; todo por un numero de “likes” en las redes. Por un lado, sobrevaloran la admiración de un grupo y por otro desvalorizan la vida de un ser humano. Es casi una paradoja.

Siempre me ha llamado la atención ese anhelo desenfrenado de popularidad entre la juventud, particularmente en América. Se ve claramente en el cine, en aquellas películas que implican universitarios. No importa quién o qué seas siempre y cuando seas “popular”. Es comprensible que la

are social beings but I seem to be lacking in self-love and half-foolish to put that ladder of fame above anything. Today adolescents are primarily looking for notoriety and what is worse, often the way or the means to achieve it no longer matters. To the point that the hero is not the one who saves lives but who removes them, and without a motive. Not only is it about breaking a few rules or confronting authority.

I would not say that I am a saint or an exceptional samaritan.

Like the great majority, at some point I have crossed my mind to break the law and go against authority... well in fact I have done but not seriously... I will not tell. And in no case seeking approval from some group but rather on the contrary, for reasons a little selfish. But the current phenomenon, which I refer to in the previous paragraphs, is an amalgam of fanaticism for networks, a desire for recognition by a group, a devaluation of life and even certain jealousy for celebrities. Although I confess I still do not get it right. They are called “Legion Holk”, represented in a green and even ugly doll, as a Hulk (superhero) come to less. It is made up of minors of 20 years who perform troll activities to annoy and intimidate organizations and people in networks in exchange for recognition. Attacks and deaths have been attributed to Mexico and Colombia.

Those who reach the killer level receive a number of “likes”, the biggest prize for these adepts in this style of recognition so foolish. It is not money, as in prostitution or like the girls who display their bodies in the nets for a few pesos. The Holks pursue popularity units without being aware that they are detrimental to a man’s most precious assets, his individuality and his freedom. The consequences are as sad as the motives.

These sicks of Facebook and other networks, around the age of 15, have already claimed two deaths - Raul Robles and Citali Avalos -, four injured, several attacks and threats in schools in Mexico (in 2015), Monterrey and Guadalajara. Given the facilities of global communication the phenomenon can be rapidly expanded to different parts of the world. In fact it has arrived to Cartagena and Barranquilla in Colombia, where threats began to emerge – for example, against James Rodriguez, player of Real Madrid and the Colombian Selection.

Because young people seem to have lost their first steps of criteria, it is up to the parents to be alert to signs in their children that may be associated with these criminal behaviors and to such a delicate misrepresentation of values. Dear parents, let us avoid new tragedies on the part of these lost young people. Let us avoid the growth of such irrational groups. And young people in general, do not fall into collective clumsiness, that there is no place lower than that.

Como a la gran mayoría, en algún momento se me ha cruzado por la cabeza romper la ley e ir contra la autoridad…bueno de hecho lo he hecho pero no de manera grave…ni les voy a contar. Y en ningún caso buscando aprobación de algún colectivo sino más bien al contrario, por motivos un poco egoístas. Pero el fenómeno actual, al que hago alusión en los párrafos anteriores, es una amalgama de fanatismo por las redes, de afán por reconocimiento por parte de un grupo, de desvalorización de la vida y hasta de ciertos celos por las celebridades. Aunque confieso que aún no lo entiendo bien.

Quien llega al nivel de asesino recibe un sin número de “likes”, el mayor premio para estos adeptos a este estilo de reconocimiento tan insensato. No se trata de dinero, como en la prostitución o como las niñas que exhiben sus cuerpos en las redes por unos pesos. Los Holks persiguen unidades de popularidad sin ser conscientes que van en detrimento de los bienes más preciados de un hombre, su individualidad y su libertad. Son tan tristes las consecuencias como los motivos.

Estos enfermos de Facebook y de otras redes, alrededor de los 15 años de edad, ya han cobrado dos muertos -Raúl Robles y Citali Avalos-, cuatro heridos, varios atentados y amenazas en colegios de México (en el 2015), en Monterrey y en Guadalajara. Dadas las facilidades de comunicación global el fenómeno se puede expandir rápidamente a diferentes lugares del mundo. De hecho ha llegado a Cartagena y a Barranquilla en Colombia, desde donde ya comenzaron a surgir amenazas –Ejemplo, contra James Rodríguez, jugador del Real Madrid y de la Selección Colombia-.

Debido a que los jóvenes parecen haber perdido sus primeros pinitos de criterio, está en manos de los padres estar atentos a señales en sus hijos que puedan estar a asociadas a estos comportamientos delictivos y a tan delicada tergiversación de valores. Señores padres de familia, evitemos nuevas tragedias por parte de estos jóvenes perdidos. Evitemos el crecimiento de grupos tan irracionales. Y jóvenes en general, no caigan en la torpeza colectiva, que no hay un lugar más bajo que ese.

A good lipstick can give you that special touch you need to look radiant, day-by-day. That’s why today, I’m going to give you a little secret so that your favorite lipstick lasts much longer, without having to resort to lipsticks long lasting; those who say that they last for 24 hours or more and are kiss-proof ... Ha, ha, ha!

Do not worry, if you do not have one of those, because now, I will give you 5 tips so that your usual lipstick stays intact longer on your lips, and you do not have to spend more money. Here we go: 1. Exfoliate your lips thoroughly.

2. Put on some moisturizer. Let it absorb well.

3. Put on your lips a little of the face base that you use. Preferably apply with a flat synthetic hair brush. In case you do not have it, use your fingertips. Notice that it is very neat and without excess.

4. With a lipstick pencil, of the color tone of your lips, start framing the outline of your lips and gradually refill them completely. In case you do not have one with the same tone of your lipstick, you can use one of natural color.

5. Finally, apply your usual lipstick. If you want to remove the excess, you can use a piece of tissue paper and press it gently between your lips.

If you want you can repeat the last step to intensify the color.

2. Colócate un poco de crema hidratante. Deja que se absorba bien.

3. Pon en tus labios un poco de la base de rostro que usas. De preferencia aplícatela con una brocha plana de pelo sintético. En caso no tengas, usa la yema de tus dedos. Fíjate que quede bien prolijo y sin excesos.

4. Con un lápiz delineador de labios, del color del tono de tu labial, empieza a enmarcar el contorno de tus labios y luego poco a poco procede a rellenarlos completamente. En caso no tengas un delineador del color de tu labial, puedes usar uno de color natural.

5. Finalmente, aplicas tu labial habitual. Si deseas sacar el exceso, puedes usar un pedacito de papel tisú y presionarlo suavemente entre tus labios.

Si quieres puedes repetir el último paso para intensificar el color.

I have read many articles about the benefit of ice and one of my favorite things to do is to face dunk in ice water in the morning. The feeling is amazing and it will definitely wake you up! It will improve your circulation and tightens your skin instantly! But here are some more benefits of the Ice cubes for our beauty routine.

Take ice in a washed cloth and rub it over scars for 10 minutes every day, this will help tighten pores and reduce inflammation. Make sure you wash your face first.

Smooths eye: Who doesn’t have to deal with tire eyes and dark circles? When you get tired working on your laptop or computer for hours, when you spend hours reading materials for a presentation or study for a test or project or maybe just after a girl’s night out, is almost inevitable that you will have very tired looking eyes the next day so just place two ice cubes on your tired and worn-out eyes. It’ll soothe your tired eyes and it is simplest and easy way to pumper your eyes… and for the Dark circle… Mix cucumber juice with the boiled rose water and make ice cube with this mixture to keep on your under-eye circles. It will help puffiness too.

For the eyes, you can also make ice cubes with: Green tea, apply a cube to dark circles and puffy eyes and the caffeine and ice combo will reduce swelling and excess fluid around the eyes.

Cucumber: Puree a cucumber add a squeeze of lemon juice and a drizzle of honey, pour into an ice tray and freeze. use it for puffy eyes.

And lastly for the skin: Pour pure Aloe Vera into an ice cube tray and freeze. Apply to scorched skin for instant relief.

Lavender: For an easy massage wrap three or four ice cubes in a bath rag, add a couple drops of a soothing essential oil like lavender, and gently massage your face and neck before bed.

The smell of lavender will relax you while your skin will benefit from it too.

El frotarse un cubo de hielo a través de la línea de la ceja hace que la región este temporalmente adormecida y ayuda a prevenir el enrojecimiento. ¡Es fantástico!

Buenísimo para las espinillas: Aplicar hielo en una espinilla o el área afectada con acné, no sólo tiene un efecto calmante en la piel, sino que también ayuda a cerrar los poros hinchados y evitar que las bacterias entren en su piel. Tome unos cubitos de hielo y envuélvalos en un paño, fróteselo sobre cicatrices o las partes de la piel afectadas por el acne durante 10 minutos cada día, esto ayudará a apretar los poros y reducir la inflamación. Asegúrese de lavarse la cara primero.

Suaviza la piel alrededor de el ojo: ¿Quién no tiene que lidiar con las bolsas debajo de los ojos y las ojeras? Cuando te sientes cansado después de un largo día de trabajo en tu computadora, cuando pasas horas leyendo materiales para una presentación o estudio para una prueba o un proyecto o tal vez después de una noche con amigas y pocas horas de sueño, es casi inevitable que tendrás ojos muy cansados al día siguiente. La solución es sencilla, tan solo coloque dos cubos de hielo en sus ojos cansados, sentirá mucho alivio y es la manera más simple...

Y para las ojeras: Mezcle el jugo de pepino con el agua de rosas hervida y haz cubitos de hielo con esta mezcla para mejorar los círculos debajo del ojo. También ayudará a la hinchazón. Para los ojos, también puede hacer cubitos de hielo con: El té verde, aplicando un cubo en los círculos oscuros y los ojos hinchados hace maravillas. La combinación de cafeína y hielo reducirá la hinchazón y el exceso de líquido alrededor de los ojos. El pepino (cucumber) o pepinillo verde también es buenísimo, haga un puré con un pepino y añada el jugo de limón y una llovizna o chorrito de miel, vierta en una bandeja de hielo y a congelarlo. Úselo para los ojos hinchados especialmente.

Y por último para la piel tenemos un par de sugerencias: Hacer un puré de aloe vera, ponerlo en una bandeja de cubitos de hielo y congelar. Una vez congelados los cubitos, aplicar sobre la piel quemada para un alivio instantáneo. Otro ingrediente que funciona es la lavanda. Para un masaje fácil, envuelva tres o cuatro cubitos de hielo en un trapo de baño, agregue un par de gotas de algún aceite esencial calmante como la lavanda, y suavemente dese un masaje en su cara y cuello antes de acostarse. El olor de la lavanda le relajará mientras que su piel se beneficiará de él también.

The sedentary life of a monotonous work routine, stuck in an office 8 hours by day or more, in front of a computer for 5 days a week, is the leading cause of weight gain for a majority of the world population.

La vida sedentaria de una rutina de trabajo monótona, metida en una oficina 8 horas diarias o más, frente a una computadora, durante 5 días a la semana; es la causa para el aumento de peso del gran porcentaje de la población mundial.

When we get home, mental fatigue leaves us with very little desire to exercise our body, and therefore, we start to gain weight. It is that same mental fatigue that generates our cravings to eat at inappropriate times and eat foods with high fat content and sugars.

Now, I will give you a few tips so you can stay in shape: 1. First, improve the way you feed yourself. Reduce portions and always try to have a fruit on hand to avoid anxiety. If you are on a weight loss plan, avoid fruits with high sugar content such as mango, cherimoya, banana, figs, grapes and cherries. Eat apples, as these are low in sodium, calories and fat. They have high levels of minerals and vitamins, including fiber that helps regulate the body’s metabolism, producing feeling full for much longer.

2. Do not sleep late and try to sleep 8 hours daily; remember that during the night, while we sleep, we also burn calories.

3. If you are going to eat at night make it a small portion, with no less than 2 hours before going to sleep.

4. Drink plenty of natural liquids. No soft drinks.

5. Avoid buying cookies and snacks, out of sight, out of mind.

In your replacement, you can consume natural popcorn.

The best way to do this is by placing, in a bowl with a lid, 5 tablespoons of corn kernels and 5 tablespoons of water; you cook it in the microwave oven for 5 minutes. You are checking that all the kernels are bursting, in case you need more time, give them a few extra minutes and that’s it. You have a healthy snack, no oils and delicious.

6. Your meals should be at least 5 times a day in small portions, which will cause your metabolism to accelerate.

Measure your portions to ensure they are no more than the size of the palm of your hand.

7. Always add red peppers to your salad because they accelerate the body’s natural fat burning.

8. If you love coffee, you will like to know that this is also a great way to burn abdominal fat. Do not abuse your consumption, but one to two cups of coffee by day will help you a lot.

9. Avoid alcoholic drinks, most of them contain lots of calories. If you go to a meeting ask for a whiskey on the rocks. This alcoholic beverage is the most appropriate if you are trying to lower those extra pounds.

El desgaste cerebral hace que al llegar a casa nos quede muy pocas ganas de ejercitar nuestro cuerpo, y por ende, empezamos a subir de peso. Es ese mismo desgaste cerebral, el que nos genera ansias de comer a horas no adecuadas y a ingerir alimentos con alto contenido de grasas y azúcares.

Ahora te voy a dar unos cuantos tips para que puedas mantenerte en forma: 1. Primero, mejora tu forma de alimentarte. Reduce las porciones y trata siempre de tener una fruta a la mano para evitar la ansiedad. Si estás en plan de bajar de peso, evita las frutas con gran contenido de azúcar como: mango, chirimoya, guanábana, plátano, higos, uvas y cerezas.

Consume manzanas, ya que éstas son bajas en sodio, calorías y grasas. Éstas tienen altos niveles de minerales y vitaminas, incluso de fibra que ayuda a regular el metabolismo del cuerpo, produciendo sensación de saciedad por mucho más tiempo.

2. No te trasnoches y trata de dormir tus 8 horas diarias, recuerda que durante la noche, mientras dormimos, también quemamos calorías.

3. Si vas a comer de noche que sea una porción pequeña, con 2 horas de anticipación antes de ir a dormir.

4. Bebe bastantes líquidos naturales. Nada de bebidas gaseosas.

5. Evita comprar galletas y snacks, mientras no los veas, menos será la tentación de comerlos. En su reemplazo, puedes consumir palomitas de maíz naturales. La mejor manera de hacerlas es colocando, en un bol que tenga tapa, 5 cucharadas de granos de maíz y 5 cucharadas de agua; lo llevas al microondas por 5 minutos. Vas chequeando que revienten todos los granos, en caso necesiten más tiempo, le das unos minutos adicionales y listo. Tienes un snack saludable, sin aceites y delicioso.

6. Tus comidas deben ser al menos 5 veces al día en porciones pequeñas, eso hará que tu metabolismo se acelere. Mide que tus porciones no sean más que el tamaño de la palma de tu mano.

7. A tu ensalada de verduras siempre colócale pimientos rojos, ese alimento ayuda a acelerar la quema de grasa natural de tu organismo.

8. Si eres amante del café, pues te gustará saber que éste también es un gran aliado para quemar la grasa abdominal.

No abuses de su consumo, pero una a dos tazas de café diarias te ayudarán mucho.

9. Evita el alcohol, la mayoría de ellos contienen gran cantidad de calorías. Si vas a ir a una reunión pide un whisky en las rocas. Esta bebida alcohólica, es la más adecuada si estás tratando de bajar esos kilos de más.

10. Por último, pero el más importante de todos. Haz por lo menos 20 minutos de actividad física interdiaria. No solamente mejorarás tu apariencia, sino también tu estado de ánimo.

INGREDIENTS FOR 4 PEOPLE

INGREDIENTES PARA 4 PERSONAS

• 500 grams of white rice • 4 Arepas or Corn dumplings • 4 slice of ripe plantains • 1/2 cup of hogao • 4 cans of pinto beans in water • 1 large or 2 medium avocados • 500 grams of belly pork • 4 Chorizos or sausages • 4 eggs • 500 grams of beef • 1 tsp of garlic paste • 1 tsp of all-purpose seasoning (TRS Caribbean) • Salt and pepper

• 500 gramos de arroz blanco • 4 Arepas • 4 tajadas de platanomaduro • 1/2 taza de hogao • 500 gramos de frijoles (Si son secos dejarlos en remojo la noche anterior), o usar 4 latas de frijoles (Pinto beans) • 1 aguacate grande o 2 medianos • 500 gramos de tocino • 4 chorizos • 4 huevos fritos • 500 gramos de carne de res • 1 cucharadita de ajo • 1 cucharadita de triguisar o condimento completo • Sal y pimienta al gusto

PREPARATION 1. Make white rice as usual see recipe in white rice 2. Make 4 Arepas or Corn cakes see recipe in “Arepas” 3. 4 slices of fried plantain see recipe in “ plantain”.

4. Prepare the Hogao or tomatoes sauce see recipe in “Hogao”.

5. In a saucepan cook the beans, with the hogaoor tomatoes sauce and the all-purpose seasoning (TRS Caribbean) and let then to cook until get a little bit thick.

6. Separately cook the meat with 4 cups of water, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.

7. Remove the meat and let it drain for a few minutes and grate it in a food processor.

8. Cut the belly pork into four portions and cook in salted water for several minutes. Then fry in a little bit of oil.

9. Fry the eggs separately.

10. Divide the avocado into 4 portions.

11. Cook the Chorizos or sausages in water or beer and then fry in a little oil as well.

12. Serve immediately.

NOTE: • This is a delicious dish and complex, but you can omit ingredients and or can be made substitutions.

• This dish is perfect with “refajo” or “sweet beer” as accompaniment.

• Some ingredients can be cooked in advance.

PREPARACIÓN 1. Hacer el arroz blanco como de costumbre ver receta “arroz blanco”.

2. Hacer 4 arepas medianas ver receta en “arepas”.

3. 4 tajadas de platano frito ver receta en “platanos”.

4. Preparar el hogao ver receta en “hogao”.

5. En una olla cocinar los frijoles, junto con el hogao y agregue el triguisar o condimento completo y deje que especen un poco.

6. Cocinar separadamente la carne en 4 tazas de agua, el ajo, sal y pimienta al gusto.

7. Luego sacar la carne y dejarla que escurra por unos minuto y triturarla ligeramente.

8. Cortar el tocino en cuatro porciones y cocinar en agua con sal por unos minutos. Luego freirlo en poco aceite.

9. Freir los huevos por separado.

10. Dividir el aguacate en 4 porciones.

11. Cocinar los chorizos en agua o cerveza y luego freirlos tambien en poco aceite.

12. Servir inmediatamente.

NOTA: • Este es un plato delicioso y complejo, pero se pueden omitir ingredientes y/o se pueden hacer sustitucones.

• Este plato es perfecto en la compañia de “refajo” o cerveza.

•Algunos ingredientes se pueden cocinar con anticipacion.

A few months ago, Medellin, the capital of the department of Antioquia, located in the northwestern part of Colombia, became famous thanks to the series issued by the most popular or known or famous platform in the world called Narcos, it is a total and absolute success, showing, a time in which we all want to forget or at least in Colombia.

Ya hace unos meses, Medellín la capital del departamento de Antioquia ubicado en la parte noroccidental de Colombia salto a la fama gracias la serie emitida por la plataforma por demanda más popular o conocida o famosa en el mundo, llamada Narcos, es una éxito total y absoluto, mostrando, una época que todos queremos olvidar o por lo menos en Colombia.

That’s not the fact, it is the unusual connotation that Medellin has taken, and as in some publications very reputed in the glove, that by rights of author or copyright I cannot quote them, I can just say that the well-known publications worldwide have echoed Of the TV series platform, by demand, Medellin has become the phenomenon of the moment to go visiting.

We are going to make a little trip through Colombian history, since, there are thousands of people who are visiting Medellin. The political and administrative division of Colombia, is a centralist state, being its center in Bogota, Colombia has no States, but Departments, among these departments is the department of Antioquia. The “Antioqueños” are especially beloved by all Colombians, because thanks to them, this country has a great push at all levels.

Vamos hacer un pequeño viaje por la historia colombiana, ya que, hay miles de personas que están visitando Medellín. La división político administrativa de Colombia, es un estado centralista, siendo su centro en Bogotá, Colombia no tiene Estados, sino, Departamentos, entre esos departamentos está el departamento de Antioquia. Los Antioqueños, son, especialmente queridos por todos los colombianos, ya que gracias a ellos, este país tiene gran empuje a todo nivel.

Medellin should be the capital of the country. The “paisa” is super proud, of its origins as they say themselves “mountaineer”, the departments where the paisa culture is located, or the paisa country, are in the middle of the mountains, from that they themselves have made famous this term of “mountaineer” “Sometimes they use this term in an obnoxious way, but most of the time they are proud of it.

For those of us who are foreign ones, it is impressive the great quantity, or when we arrive at paisas lands, I am talking about the men who get impressed by the beauty of the paisa women, the climate in this region of Colombia is extraordinary, the whole year is in a temperatures from 20-27 degrees Celsius, from that it

El antioqueño, o lo que en Colombia llamamos “paisas” ese es el gentilicio de los nacidos en los departamentos de Antioquia, Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, a este conjunto de departamentos tenía el nombre del gran caldas hace muchos años atrás, poco a poco, se fue teniendo más claridad entre los límites entre departamentos, y hoy están divididos en estos 4 departamentos, todos bellísimos.

Medellín debería ser la capital del país. Ya que han hecho grandes esfuerzos en cambiar la cara de la ciudad, es la única Ciudad del país que tiene Sistema metro elevado, por todos es muy bien sabido que los paisas cuidan mucho a su ciudad, y esto se nota cuanto los que no somos de esa ciudad visitamos y nos deslumbra el cuidado oneroso que han tenido por sus sistemas de transporte, y en todo.

El paisa es súper orgulloso, de sus orígenes como ellos mismos lo dicen “montañero”, los departamentos en donde se ubica la cultura paisa, o el país paisa, están entre las montañas de ahí que ellos mismos hayan hecho famoso este término de “montañero” algunas veces usan este termino de forma desobligante, pero, la gran mayoría del tiempo están orgullosos de ello.

Para los que somos foráneos es impresionante la gran cantidad o cuando se llega a tierras paisas, hablo de los hombres nos impresiona la belleza de la mujer

It is a strange thing that, because of a TV series, Medellin again jumps to world of fame. The paisas, thanks to their great kindness, their dedication to others, they are not only friendly to the foreign tourist, they are well known for everyone, where there is a paisa, there is always someone who likes to help others, and something which is their best cover letter anywhere and it is their reputation as Merchants, booming, enterprising and reaching goals that many do not achieve.

Medellin is that, in spite of the serious problems that have now been largely overcome, they have shown that they continue to be the driving force of South America’s entrepreneurship, a few years ago they began to make surprising undertakings for a city that does not exceed 4 million inhabitants, they have implemented environmentally friendly transportation systems, the tram, metro cable, which are impressive transport systems, which turned into beautiful walks for tourists.

Of course, like all the big cities in the region, Medellin also suffers in its mountains the so-called rings of misery, people with many needs who live on the slopes, but as we know they are always one step ahead and have done of this an advantage since they do not hide to anybody these places and on the contrary they show the social, cultural, economic advances that have been able to reach in the last years.

For visiting Medellin you can go directly to the city as it has two airports, it has very good airways, there are many airlines that have a direct route with the city or also to get to Bogota, and making the connection, Medellin is only from 45-50 minutes from Bogota by Plane, there are routes for all tastes

paisa, el clima en esta región de Colombia es extraordinario, todo el año está en temperaturas de 20 a los 27 grados centígrados, de ahí se deriva el nombre de la ciudad, el apodo: de Ciudad de la eterna primavera.

Es algo extraño que, por una serie de Televisión, Medellín salte nuevamente a la fama mundial. El paisa, gracias a su gran amabilidad, su entrega a los demás, ellos no solamente son amables con el turista extranjero, por todos es muy conocido, que donde hay un paisa, siempre hay alguien que le gusta ayudar a los demás, y algo que es su mejor carta de presentación en cualquier lugar y es su fama de Comerciante, de pujante, de emprendedor y de llegar a metas que muchos no logramos.

Medellín es eso, pese a los gravísimos problemas hoy en gran parte superados, han demostrado que continúan siendo el motor del emprendimiento de sur América, hace muy pocos años empezaron a hacer emprendimientos sorprendentes para una ciudad que no pasa de los 4 millones de habitantes, han implementado sistemas de transportes amigables con el medio ambiente, el tranvía, el metro cable, que son impresionantes sistemas de transporte, que se convirtieron para los turistas en hermosos paseos.

Claro está que, como todas las ciudades grandes de la región, Medellín también padece en sus montañas los mal llamados anillos de miseria, gente con muchas necesidades que vive en las laderas, pero como lo sabemos ellos siempre están un paso más adelante y han hecho de esto una ventaja ya que no ocultan a nadie estos lugares y por el contrario muestran los avances sociales, culturales, económicos que han podido alcanzar en los últimos años.

Medellin is an economic city, in every sense of the word, you can live very well, in this place compared to Bogota. Some people say, it is not an expensive city yet, since it is not yet a tourist city. But sooner or later Medellin will become one of the most important tourist districts of the earth, it has everything to be the first destination, it has a high level hotel infrastructure, for conventions, conferences, symposia services, it has the best of lodge and it has nothing to envy to Miami, Panama, Etc. We are very a few years left to see how this giant of kindness will wake up and show a wonderful face of Colombia to the world, it is not necessary to mention here that you can arrive to Medellin at any time of the year, the weather allows it, you can visit any place of the city without any problems, the municipal administrations have made every effort in improving the security of the public areas of this beautiful city. You can see that Medellin, is not what the TV series says, check, live, have fun, enjoy this great city of Colombia.

Para visitar Medellín puede llegar directamente a la ciudad ya que cuenta con dos aeropuertos, tiene muy buenas vías aéreas, hay muchas compañías aéreas que tienen ruta directa con la ciudad o también llegar a Bogotá, y hacer la conexión, Medellín está a tan solo 45 a 50 minutos de Bogotá en Avión, hay rutas para todos los gustos desde primera clase hasta clase súper económica.

Medellín es una ciudad económica, en todo sentido, se puede vivir muy bien, en este lugar a comparación con Bogotá. Algunas personas dicen, aun no es una ciudad costosa pues aun todavía no es una ciudad turística. Estamos a muy pocos años de ver como este gigante de la amabilidad se despertará y mostrará una cara maravillosa de Colombia para el mundo, no es necesario citar aquí que puede llegar en cualquier época del año a Medellín, el clima lo permite, puede visitar cualquier lugar de la ciudad sin problemas las administraciones municipales han hecho sendos esfuerzos en mejorar la seguridad de las áreas públicas de esta hermosa ciudad. Usted puede ver que Medellín, no es lo que la serie de TV dice, compruebe, viva, goce, disfrute esta gran ciudad de Colombia.

Often times apologies are as hard to give as much as they are to receive…So, let’s start from the beginning, what is an apology and who deserves it? If we look in the dictionary the answer is “a regretful acknowledgment of an offense or failure.” So, to give or accept an apology, first we need to acknowledge that a damage has been done, we feel remorse, and an honest feeling of regret. When we apologize, we feel bad and sorry for what we have done or said because we have obviously hurt someone else with that behavior. By apologizing we are not only showing our regret but we are also telling the other person that we care about their feelings, that you respect that person, that pride is not even in the equation as your empathy for him or her weighs more. Our intention should be the desire of making things right, restoring respect, and balancing the relationship that is now in distress.

Just because we apologize, does not mean the other person has the obligation to accept our apology and move on. There will be times when we apologize to someone and in return get a “thank you but I still don’t want to be close to you.”

In those cases, we need to respect the other person’s wishes and give them space to reconsider. We only have control over what we do, not over what others say or do to us.

And when an apology is due to us, we also have the right to accept it or not. Sometimes, there are people in our lives who would hurt us over and over again and at some point we must stop the vicious cycle and say no more. At that time, when the person comes and apologizes again, we can still accept the apology, but we can politely not allow this person in our lives anymore.

When apologizing, It is important to say what we are sorry for. “I am sorry I hurt your feelings when I said ….,” I am sorry I didn’t come

Disculpas…a veces son tan dificiles de dar como de recibir así que vamos a empezar por el principio, ¿Qué es una disculpa y quien se la merece? Si nos fijamos en el diccionario la respuesta es “Pedir perdón es lo mismo que disculparse. Al pedir disculpas, una persona está diciendo que siente o sabe el mal daño que ha causado, incluso aunque no lo haya hecho a adrede”. Así que para dar o aceptar una disculpa, primero tenemos que reconocer que un daño se ha hecho, sentimos remordimiento y un sentimiento de pesar honesto.

Cuando nos disculpamos nos sentimos mal y nos sentimos mal por lo que hemos hecho o dicho porque obviamente hemos herido a alguien con ese comportamiento.

Al disculparnos, no sólo estamos mostrando nuestro pesar, sino que estamos diciéndole a la otra persona que nos preocupamos por sus sentimientos, que respetamos a esa persona, que el orgullo no es parte de la ecuación, sino que mas bien la empatía que sentimos pesa más. Nuestra intención debe ser el deseo de hacer las cosas bien, restaurar el respeto y equilibrar la relación que ahora está en peligro de quebrarse.

No significa que porque nos disculpemos con la otra persona tiene la obligación de aceptar nuestras disculpas y seguir adelante. Habrá momentos en que nos disculparemos con alguien y a cambio recibiremos un “gracias, pero todavía no quiero estar cerca de ti”. En esos casos debemos respetar los deseos de la otra persona y darles espacio para reconsiderar. Sólo tenemos control sobre lo que hacemos, pero no sobre lo que otros nos dicen o nos hacen ni mucho menos como reaccionan.

Cuando la disculpa se nos debe, también tenemos el derecho de aceptarla o no. A veces hay gente en nuestras vidas que nos lastimarán una y otra vez y en algún momento debemos detener el círculo vicioso y decir “ya no mas”. Esas veces, cuando la persona viene de nuevo y se disculpa de nuevo, debemos

on time”, I am sorry I yelled”. By doing this, we are taking responsibility for our actions and not just trying to make it go away.

When an apology is due, it doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are. As a matter of fact, it is very powerful when parents apologize to their kids. By doing this we are showing them we are not always right, we sometimes mess up too, and we care and love them enough to show them our regret by acknowledging our fault. Parents that apologize to their kids teach them responsibility so the next time a child misbehaves, he or she would also take responsibility and apologize for the wrong doing. After all, we are not perfect!

An apology is also a “door” for the person that was hurt to have an open communication about the incident and perhaps other things that haven’t been dealt with and maybe have added to the tension. We can, this way, start the healing process of the relationship. It is important not to give excuses when we apologize; show how sorry you are without justifying the behavior.

I tell my girls this: “the excuse is the justification of the loser.” Your only excuse is that you feel bad about what you have done. And remember, apologize only for what you did, don’t try to overcome your damage or minimize it by taking responsibility for more than what you did.

So here is a four-step routine on How to Apologize from the interview done by The Journal of Psycholinguistic Research with psychologists Steven Scher and John Darley. Perhaps, we can all learn a better way to apologize and be an example for our little ones.

STEP 1: EXPRESS REMORSE Every apology needs to start with two magic words, “I’m sorry,” or “I apologize.” This is essential because these words express remorse over your actions.

For example, you could say: “I’m sorry that I snapped at you yesterday. I feel embarrassed and ashamed by the way I acted.”

Your words need to be sincere and authentic. Be honest with yourself, and with the other person, about why you want to apologize. Never make an apology when you have ulterior motives, or if you see it as a means to an end.

Timeliness is also important here. Apologize as soon as you realize that you’ve wronged someone else.

STEP 2: ADMIT RESPONSIBILITY Next, admit responsibility for your actions or behavior, and acknowledge what you did.

Cuando nos disculpamos, es importante decir lo que sentimos. “Siento haber herido tus sentimientos cuando dije ...”, “siento haberte hecho esperar “, “siento mucho el haberte gritado”. Haciendo esto, estamos asumiendo la responsabilidad de nuestras acciones y no sólo tratando de hacer que desaparezca.

Cuando una disculpa se debe, no importa quién eres, ni cuántos años tienes.

Por cierto, yo considero muy poderoso el hecho de que un padre o una madre le pida disculpas a un hijo. Haciendo esto, les mostramos que no siempre tenemos la razón, a veces también nos equivocamos y nos preocupamos y que los amamos y nos important lo suficiente como para mostrarles nuestro arrepentimiento al reconocer nuestra culpa.

Los padres que se disculpan con sus hijos les enseñan responsabilidad, por tal la próxima vez que el niño se comporte mal, él o ella también asumirá la responsabilidad y dará las disculpas necesarias por el mal hecho. ¡Después de todo, no somos perfectos!

Una disculpa es también una “puerta” para la persona que fue herida u ofendida de tener una comunicación abierta sobre el incidente y tal vez otras cosas que no se hayan tratado y tal vez habría añadido a la tensión del momento. Podemos de esta manera, iniciar el proceso de curación de la relación.

Es importante no dar excusas cuando nos disculpamos, demostrar cuánto sentimos sin justificar el comportamiento. Les digo a mis hijas esto: “la excusa es la justificación del perdedor”. Su única excusa debe de ser el que se sienten mal por lo que ha hecho. Y recuerde, discúlpese sólo por lo que hizo, no trate de disimular su daño o minimizarlo asumiendo la responsabilidad de más cosas de las que hizo.

Aquí quiero compartir una rutina de cuatro pasos sobre cómo disculparse, de la entrevista realizada por The Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, a los psicólogos Steven Scher y John Darley, quizás todos podamos aprender una mejor manera de pedir disculpas y ser un ejemplo para nuestros pequeños y los que nos rodean.

PASO 1: EXPRESAR REMORDIMIENTO Cada disculpa tiene que empezar con dos palabras mágicas: “Lo siento” o “Me disculpo”. Esto es esencial, porque estas palabras expresan remordimiento por sus acciones.

Here, you need to empathize with the person you wronged, and demonstrate that you understand how you made her feel.

Don’t make assumptions – instead, simply try to put yourself in that person’s shoes and imagine how she felt.

For example: “I know that I hurt your feelings yesterday when I snapped at you. I’m sure this embarrassed you, especially since everyone else on the team was there. I was wrong to treat you like that.”

STEP 3: MAKE AMENDS When you make amends, you take action to make the situation right.

Here are two examples: • “If there’s anything that I can do to make this up to you, please just ask.”

• “I realize that I was wrong to doubt your ability to chair our staff meeting. I’d like you to lead the team through tomorrow’s meeting to demonstrate your skills.”

Think carefully about this step. Token gestures or empty promises will do more harm than good. Because you feel guilty, you might also be tempted to give more than what’s appropriate – so be proportionate in what you offer.

STEP 4: PROMISE THAT IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN Your last step is to explain that you won’t repeat the action or behavior.

This step is important because you reassure the other person that you’re going to change your behavior. This helps you rebuild trust and repair the relationship.

You could say: “From now on, I’m going to manage my stress better, so that I don’t snap at you and the rest of the team. And, I want you to call me out if I do this again.”

Make sure that you honor this commitment in the days or weeks to come – if you promise to change your behavior, but don’t follow through, others will question your reputation and your trustworthiness.

Germaine was born in the Belgian Congo (later Zaire and now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) to a Caucasian father and an African mother. When he was 6 months old, and the country was in the midst of civil war, his family fled, first to Belgium and then to London where he grew up against the backdrop of his father’s abuse and his mother’s alcoholism. When he was 7 he was taken from his mother when authorities decided that she couldn’t properly care for him. For the next several years, he was a ward of the English child care system in a group home in conditions that he describes as cold, neglectful, and very bureaucratic. At 16, after the death of his mother, he moved to Belgium to live in a small coastal town with his father and half-siblings. It was an emotionally dysfunctional environment that included blurry physical and sexual boundaries and verbal attacks from his father. He was very good at soccer, as a teenager, he played on the Belgian national indoor youth team, which earned him approval and respect. “When I was kicking a ball”, he says, “the world was perfect.” So, I realized that in order to achieve that dream, I have to pursue that dream, and doing drugs, drinking, becoming dysfunctional didn’t belong in my dream. His mother, despite the challenges her alcoholism presented, taught him a profound lesson as a child. “She reinforced the fact that whatever it is you want to become, you can,” he says. “Guess that propelled me to, ‘OK, you always have a choice. Regardless of what we face, there is always a choice.’ So I had a choice: I could get attention by being dysfunctional, by being rebellious, or I could get attention at being good at something”. It was not a happy environment but he lived in a world of dreams; he knew that his life was meant to be more someday than it was then. Five years later, he moved out, fell in love and got introduced to the nightlife, becoming well-known in the clubs for his talent at impersonating Michael Jackson. He continued to study theater and dance. At 28, Germaine arrived in New York City with, as he says, “nothing but a dream in my pocket”. Vital Germaine, top-selling author of FLYING WITHOUT A NET, has become a standout personality in the world of public speaking, training and team building. In these tremendous days, seeing something like the world of LA LA LAND, it’s a big bet, not only in the technical side, but because these movies are no longer a hit, and could have been a headache for the producers and writers of this movie. Especially for the writer, since, he had to spend hours and hours writing for them to say: next. But, but, please read it again at least the first paragraph, and then to be heard again, next please…

En estos días tan tremendamente convulsionados, ver algo como la tierra del LA LA, es una gran propuesta, no solo desde lo técnico, sino, que ya estas películas, ya no pegan, eso puedo haber sido un gran dolor de cabeza para los productores y escritores de esta película. Sobre todo para el escritor, pues, pasar horas y horas escribiendo para que luego, digan: siguiente. Pero, por favor léala por lo menos el primer párrafo, Y que se vuelva a escuchar, siguiente por favor…

This story, is a musical, a big bet for the musical cinema, or well the cinema of the musicals, those who love and are fascinated by the genre, there will be nothing left but to savor this delicious piece of cinema that will most probably go down in cinema history, perhaps as the best that has been achieved in recent years.

Every time a viewer goes to the movies, he does, with the motive of leaving his imagination flying, to fantastic worlds, and that will inexorably disappear after a few hours of having been in the movie theater, and we will return to be the same person we normally are, but while the magic effect of the film lasts you must enjoy the different sensations that have left us.

La La Land seems to be one of those pieces done to any weather, a potent start, the first 20 seconds of the film are like a powerful motivation pill. The public ends up with high expectation of what will happen on the next 80 or 90 minutes.

In Spanish, it makes a pun because in our language The Land is very sonorous, perhaps in English also it is, but, it is better to leave its title in its original language, and not pass it to Spanish as it would be called something like “The land of La La” but it would not have the same sonority as: La la Land. I prefer the title in its original language.

Why betting into a film that goes back to the great times of the 40’s and 50’s musicals in the luxury Los Angeles studios of those years. A lot of people will say, to be honest don’t even invite me to watch a musical, I sleep in the main performance. But, the truth is it’s a masterly piece of the contemporary cinema, it breaks with everything we have

La La land, pues parece ser una de esas piezas hechas para cualquier clima, potente comienzo, los primeros 20 segundos de la película es un poderoso mensaje de motivación. Queda el público con una expectativa muy alta de que sucederá en los próximos 80 o 90 minutos.

En español, hace un juego de palabras pues en nuestro idioma La La Land es muy sonoro, tal vez en ingles también lo sea, pero, es mejor dejar su título en su idioma original, y no pasarlo a español pues se llamaría algo así como “la tierra del La La” pero pues no tendría la misma sonoridad que: La la Land. Prefiero el título en su idioma original.

Porque apostarle a una película que evoca las grandes épocas del musical de los años 40 y 50 en los lujos estudios de los Ángeles de aquellos años. Muchos dirán, pues la verdad a mí que ni me inviten a ver un musical, me duermo en plena función. Pero, la verdad es que es una pieza magistral del cine contemporáneo, rompe con los que hemos venido viendo todos estos años. Si usted no es de la personas que

In turbulent times like the ones we started seeing only a few weeks ago. You know who I’m talking about, it’s not necessary to go into details. It’s a great escape, a wonderful escape from, perhaps, the heaviness that produces the day to day, it’s wonderful to know that this film has swept away with many prizes in cinematography, it deserves it, I, I am not a film critic nor more, I’m just another spectator, who has been pleasantly surprised. And it is very pleasing to find myself in these times with something like that. It’s a great movie piece to take your wife, or your girlfriend.

En tiempos tan turbulentos como los que empezamos a ver hace tan solo unas semanas. Ustedes saben a quién me refiero, no es necesario entrar en detalles. It’s a film to go watch at night, it may be, like 9 in the evening, remember that the film lasts for nearly two hours. Not a Tuesday or Wednesday, because the next day you’ll be back on the routine at 5 am, going to work.

I feel that the movie should be tasted by well-established couples, since they will lead to evoke beautiful moments, since part of the magic of the cinema is that, evocation of memories in the viewers so that they can travel through that world of wonders. Of course, it all depends on you and your convincing skills. It’s hard for your partner not to ask, but how is a movie? Just say: it has left many people very happy.

From mouth to mouth, is making the film go famous by itself, besides we have thousands of digital helps that what they do is kill the passion for surprise. Pues es que apenas se encienden las luces, al sonar los últimos compases para dar el gran final, deténgase unos pocos momentos y observe a sus compañeros de aventura, y vera en todos, unas pequeñas lágrimas o unas pequeñas gotas en los ojos.

Pienso que la película debe ser degustada por parejas ya consolidadas, ya que llevaran a evocar bonitos momentos, ya que parte de la magia del cine es eso, evocación de recuerdos en los espectadores para que puedan viajar por eso mundos maravillas. Claro que todo depende de usted y sus habilidades de convencimiento. Es difícil que su pareja no vaya a preguntar, pero, ¿cómo es la película? Solo diga: pues ha dejado a muchas personas muy felices.

De boca a boca, va haciendo que la película se haga famosa por sí sola, además tenemos ahora miles de ayudas digitales que lo que hacen es que se mate la pasión de la sorpresa.

Pero vale la pena intentarlo, por qué no, un musical, con matices de los años gloriosos del cine donde la música es el protagonista, en donde los actores, se convierten en excelentes bailarines, y la película rueda por si sola.

Quedé gratamente sorprendido con la película, va a pasar a ser parte de las grandes del cine, y sobre todo lograr ese efecto en estas épocas, en donde nos hemos convertido en parte de la tecnología, y para todo, es tecnología y más tecnología.

Hasta de pronto por que no invitar a unos cuantos buenos amigos a ver esta película, en serio que pasará un muy buen momento y saldrá recargado, hasta podrá reflexionar con un género ya casi en des-uso o más bien poco trabajado por la complejidad que este tiene. It has been almost 96 years since Walter Russell had an extended 39 day “Divine” experience, when a profound Divine Revelation was fully experienced. Walter Russell was 49 years old at the time.

Walter Russell, The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe, was an accomplished pianist, composer, fine artist, sculptor, figure skater, architect, master horseman and more, all of which was almost entirely self-taught. He was friend, and often confidant, to many of the notables in the US and beyond at the time, including Nikola Tesla. Russell was easily a modern day Da Vinci and true genius.

The importance of these revelations to humanity can not be overstated.

The experiential revelations Russell passes on to us can have incalculable value in essentially all of the sciences Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and literally everything to do with electrical energy and power.

As Russell reveals, “Electricity” and “Magnetism” are used in the sense of characterizing the apparent division of the ONE force of Divine Mind (Light) into the appearance of two polarized effects. “Electricity” is the only force which God makes use of to create this universe. I bought a putter for my husband a while ago, and soon after he injured his shoulder, so his days as a Golfer, unfortunately, are over. The putter was new, so I decided to sell it. While looking online, I came across an article by the Business Insider featuring a picture of Tiger Woods, where they talk about some “spinoffs” we now enjoy thanks to NASA program, one of them being the golf club. I was really curious about the subject as I had no idea of the so many things we get to enjoy thanks to sometimes “casual” discoveries.

Mientras buscaba en la internet como vender un putter que le compré a mi marido hace un tiempo y que nunca uso ya que se lesionó el hombro, me encontré con un artículo de Business Insider con una foto de Tiger Woods, donde se habla de algunos “spinoffs”, como los palos de golf, que ahora disfrutamos gracias al programa de la NASA. The Golf Club was just the beginning of it. It turns out that a super-elastic and high damping material called Zeemet, which is the same material used by the International Space Station, gives more spin, a solid feel and ball control by using it as an insert on the golf clubs. This same material is also used in 360 degree cameras, aeroponic gardens, autonomous robotics arms, helicopter blades, as well as in the medical equipment industry because of its Super-Elastic Nitinol materials. This led me to investigate what other items that we use every day are available to us thanks because of NASA.

This was discovered when Air products and Chemical Inc was exploring aerospace applications of diamond coatings for the ships. Later, manufacturers like Bausch & Lomb, Inc started to use it. The Ray-Ban collection was one of the first ones using the technology.

GPS: In 1960 Rudolf Kálmán, a Budapest-born engineer and mathematician, published a study explaining an algorithm called the Kalman filter. In a review done by David Mindell and Frank Moss we can learn that this “discovery” made possible many essential technological achievements of the last 50 years. The aerospace systems such as the computers that landed Apollo astronauts on the moon, robotic vehicles that explore our world from the deep sea to the outer planets, and nearly any endeavor that needs to estimate the state of the world from noisy data. Someone once described the entire GPS system—an Earth-girdling constellation of satellites, ground stations, and computers as “one enormous Kalman filter”. It is important to mention that the smartphone also came from Apollo and with that the kidney dialysis machine, the smoke detector, as well as a mechanism to improve vehicle brakes.

So, next time you ask yourself where the $19.3 billion that Congress gave to NASA goes, let’s remember that many of the gadgets we use on our everyday life, are earthbound “spinoffs” from licensing of NASA patents, use of NASA facilities, technical assistance from NASA personnel, or data from NASA research. Here are some other “spinoffs” and I have to mention that even though a lot of people believe that Tang, Velcro and Teflon were also invented or created by NASA, they were not.

GPS: En 1960 Rudolf Kálmán, un ingeniero y matemático nacido en Budapest, publicó un estudio explicando un algoritmo llamado el filtro de Kalman.

En un articulo realizado por David Mindell y Frank Moss podemos aprender que “este <descubrimiento> hizo posible muchos logros tecnológicos esenciales de los últimos 50 años. Los sistemas aeroespaciales tales como los ordenadores que aterrizaron a los astronautas de Apolo en la luna, vehículos robóticos que exploran nuestro mundo desde el mar profundo y a los planetas exteriores y casi cualquier esfuerzo necesario para calcular el estado del mundo a partir de datos o información que no se puede corroborar o esta corrupta. In September, a Falcon 9 rocket exploded, and SpaceX was grounded for four months. It was only last month that SpaceX returned to flight, nailed the landing and created a stunning photo in the process.

With that success under its belt, SpaceX won’t be tiptoeing around. On Monday, the company told Reuters it’ll launch a rocket every two to three weeks from now on.

As Reuters points out, SpaceX was already close to launching rockets that quickly, before the $200 million satellite-busting explosion in September. The company successfully launched eight times last year, and there’s a handy Wikipedia page where you can read about each one.

Mind you, the new two-to-three-week schedule depends on when SpaceX finishes work on a new launch pad at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, since the original one at nearby Cape Canaveral was damaged in the September blast.

SpaceX is scheduled to finish the new pad next week, according to Reuters.

So where, then, did SpaceX launch the successful rocket last month? California’s Vandenburg Air Force Base.

By the way: though SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk has taken some flak for joining President Donald Trump’s economic forum, both SpaceX and Tesla were among the tech companies that signed legal brief against Trump’s controversial “muslim ban”.

Last month we looked at a couple of products that were showcased at CES 2017, Square Panda and Amazon Echo Dot. I tested the Dot at my tutoring center in Summerlin in Nevada and I found that it was useful for vocabulary exercises. Students can ask Alexa to define a word and use it in a sentence in order to gain a deep level of understanding of its meaning. There were two categories of products that were geared towards education but not designed specifically for educational applications, virtual reality and coding robots.

The virtual reality (VR) community has been trying to use its technology in educational applications for quite some time but has yet to find a truly innovative way to increase the efficiency of teaching. Most of the application of VR are for creating digital content in a 3D space. For example, there was a company that was showcasing their VR gear that ran a program that allowed a person to view two large magnets and move them around in the 3D space in which there was physical feedback in gloves like one was actual holding real magnets. This was impressive, however this does not solve a problem that exists within the educational space. I spoke with a representative of several different VR companies about the key to breaking into the education space is for them to solve a problem. For instance, if they were able to design a set of VR gear at a reasonable cost then school districts could create true virtual classrooms which could save costs when it comes to building and land costs.

Coding robots are simple machines that perform actions directed by simple coding language. These are especially effective at teach coding because they begin with teaching the user how to think in a logical flow manner using simple symbols. The coding is put into three levels. The first level is graphical programming which allows the user to connect a predesigned set of pictures that are action commands. Next, is the computational fluency level which uses a much larger set of commands that are words not pictures and also allows for more complex logical statements. Third, and last, is the full text programming stage which allows the user to code commands for the robot using text just as any other professional programmer would. El mes pasado miramos un par de productos que fueron mostrados en el CES 2017, Square Panda y Amazon Echo Dot. Probé el Dot en mi centro de tutorías en Summerlin en Nevada y me di cuenta que fue muy útil para ejercicios del vocabulario. At one time, the term “hacker” inspired sinister images of dark basements, stolen information and malicious intents. In both popular culture and the media, hackers are sometimes portrayed as villains — often for good reason. Contrary to popular belief, not all hacking is bad. In fact, companies are becoming increasing more dependent on hackers to actually keep their data safe.1 From Sony to the NFL to Facebook, cybersecurity attacks have made national news time and again, as hackers penetrate systems to uncover valuable corporate and personal information. According to Symantec’s 2016 Internet Security Threat Report, there were more than 318 million breaches in 2015, with more than 429 million identities exposed.2 These widespread breaches and hacks have greatly affected both the private and public sectors, Fortune 500 and small businesses, as well as millions of Americans.3 In fact, in a recent University of Phoenix® College of Information Systems and Technology cybersecurity survey, nearly half of respondents said they have experienced a personal security breach — including identity theft, unauthorized use of credit card information or email and social media hacking. Additionally, 72 percent of respondents believe that the private and public sectors should invest in more cybersecurity technology to combat cybercrime.2 One of the many techniques developed to combat cybercrime is “ethical” hacking. Unlike the purely technological defenses against cybersecurity threats, like firewalls and antivirus software, ethical hacking is inherently human. It relies on real people with highly developed skillsets and judgements in order to succeed. Colloquially known as “white hat hacking,” this method of defense is rooted in beating hackers at their own game. Ethical hackers are hired by companies small and large to conduct penetration testing, where they attempt to invade a system in order to expose its vulnerabilities and provide solutions. This is done proactively to plug any potential holes in systems, whereas non-ethical “black hat” hacking is performed with the intent to exploit such gaps.

As criminal hacking continues to become more widespread and complex, so must the ethical hackers who seek to preemptively halt them. Because of the highly specialized knowledge and strong character required for the job, ethical hackers are in demand in the information technology sector. The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ job outlook for information security analyst is expected to increase 18 percent, much faster than the national average, from 2014-2024.4 In today’s job landscape, the need for ethical hacking outweighs the number of qualified individuals.

Companies are in need of cybersecurity experts whom they can trust with sensitive — often confidential — information. A survey by KPMG found that nearly all companies perceive cyberattacks as a major threat, yet more than three-fourths don’t have a cyber-incident response plan in place.5 Looking beyond specialists, any current or aspiring IT professional should have some awareness of ethical hacking, if nothing else than to be well-rounded in the field. Its human component is key in differentiating from the endless stream of new software and systems driven solely by algorithms. By utilizing human intuition, and coupling it with a complex skill set, ethical hacking goes where pure technology cannot. As cybersecurity threats continue to mount, equipping oneself with the ability to outwit attackers is a professional value companies will appreciate in preventing potential damage and catastrophe.

Verizon made headlines recently when it announced a new unlimited data plan -- a coveted option for those who don’t want to worry about overage fees.

In reaction, T-Mobile quickly updated its unlimited plan to match Verizon. But how do the unlimited plans from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon really compare?

DATA LIMITS AND THROTTLING The big four carriers offer unlimited plans with unlimited talk, texting and data. That comes with a catch though -- when you hit the data limit, your data speeds are slowed down or your data needs are sent to the back of the line. These are the data limits for each carrier: • AT&T: 22GB • Sprint: 23GB • T-Mobile: 28GB • Verizon: 22GB COST FOR SINGLE LINE Obviously, one of the reasons unlimited plans exist are to offer lots of data at a reasonable price -- reasonable enough to beat overage charges.

If Apple does everything right, the iPhone 8 will deliver on expectations that have been building for years. Sure, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were undoubtedly among the best phones of 2016. They delivered speedy performance, robust storage capacity, water resistance, exceptional cameras (especially the 7 Plus) and a host of other terrific features.

But despite CEO Tim Cook’s prerelease promise that the iPhone 7 would provide things we can’t live without”, “it was instead an incremental upgrade at best -- an evolutionary step rather than the revolutionary leap many of us were hoping for. In fact, with the omission of the headphone jack, the iPhone 7 straight up lacks a thing some of us can’t live without.

All of this fueled a widespread sentiment that Apple was holding back its more impressive hardware and software innovations for the upcoming 10th anniversary release.

After all, it wasn’t so long ago when we could count on Apple’s newest iPhone to thrill us with boundary-breaking innovations.

And some early rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 could be a throwback to the Apple of 10 years ago -- a remarkable breakthrough that will once again redefine what a phone can do. Can Apple possibly deliver on such lofty expectations?

We anticipate the debut to come in the fall of 2017 -- early September, if Apple sticks to its usual schedule. Until then, we’ll keep track of the iPhone 8 rumor frenzy below.

SPECS WE MIGHT SEE ON THE IPHONE 8 • Apple’s next-generation processor (perhaps the A10X or A11) • Ceramic or glass body (iPhone 4 flashback!)

• Extended or edge-to-edge display • Wireless charging • Virtual home button (or perhaps no home button) • Enhanced water resistance • Dual-lens camera-enabled AR capabilities • Support for the Apple Pencil • Iris scanner as alternative to Touch ID • A heftier price tag, which could exceed $1,000 WILL IT EVEN BE CALLED THE IPHONE 8 -- OR THE IPHONE 10, THE IPHONE X, OR SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY? Given the haphazard approach the model numbering, we don’t know exactly what Apple will call the next iPhone. In 2016, we got the iPhone SE -- a minor, midcycle update closely based on a previous design -- and the iPhone 7. Our expectation is that Apple will forgo the midcycle “S” refresh in 2017, and make this next phone a major update -- perhaps the iPhone 8. That noted, Japanese blog Macotakara has reported that the next model could be called the iPhone 7S. And Apple could always hit us with something from left field, like the iPhone X in the tradition of Mac OS X (X being the Roman numeral for 10, of course).

ALUMINUM NO MORE? Apple may shift away from the aluminum body used for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S, according to a rumor reported by DigiTimes. Manufacturers Foxconn and Jabil are allegedly building the next phone’s body with two reinforced glass panes -- one for the front and one for the back -- held together

A parallel rumor has it that the next iPhone will support facial recognition technology as an alternative (or perhaps supplement) to the current fingerprint scanner authentication system.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7vwas among the first phones to come equipped with an iris scanner -- and it’s worth stating that that particular feature had nothing to do with that phone’s explosive reputation and subsequent retirement.

AN IPHONE PRO FOR CREATIVES Handy Abovergleich has also illustrated the concept of multiple iPhone 8 models -- a standard edition, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone 8 Pro. Even more interesting is the site’s theory that Apple could follow the path forged by the iPad, with an iPhone Pro that would support the Apple’s Pencil stylus, that gives artists and handwriting enthusiasts a more manual way to create, take notes, and manipulate photos and images.

New colors would be an easy way for Apple to mark the significance of the 10th anniversary iPhone. In December 2016, a video surfaced purporting to show a “Jet White” iPhone 7. Macotakara reports that Apple may add to its recent palette of white, black, and mellow metallics and introduce red to the lineup -- a callback of sorts to the less expensive iPhone 5C’s rainbow of options.

CAN APPLE TAKE IT TO THE EDGE? There have been rumors about the possibility of an iPhone with an edge-to-edge display since the run up to the iPhone 7. In November 2016, The Wall Street Journal reported that the next iPhone could include a curved and/or OLED screen -- a possibility echoed by veteran Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Of course, neither move would be all that innovative.

Samsung has been stretching the boundaries of its displays for some time -- there is a rumor that the front of the forthcoming Galaxy S8 could be 90 percent screen -- and the Xiaomi Mi Mix’s 6.4-inch screen nearly covers its entire face.

YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GO ‘HOME’ AGAIN One way to extend the display would be to ditch the home button. In 2015, Apple filed a patent for a transparent fingerprint sensor. And with the iPhone 7’s solid-state button, pressure-sensitive screen, and the increasingly capable Siri, do we even need a physical home button anymore?

With all that extra real estate, Apple could slim down the top and bottom bezels and squeeze a larger screen into the same size body. Of course, Apple doesn’t commercialize even a fraction of the patents it files -- so this one is far from a slam dunk.

WILL THE IPHONE GET WIRELESS CHARGING? Apple’s wireless AirPods may have been just the beginning.

Next year’s iPhone could do away with the iPhone’s sole remaining traditional connector -- the Lightning cable -- and charge up wirelessly instead.

The analyst and tech press have been making lots of noise about this one: The Verge reported that Apple has been staffing up on wireless-charging experts and the Nikkei Asian Review reported that Foxconn, one of Apple’s main manufacturing partners, is making wireless charging modules for the 2017 iPhone. And Kuo, the Apple analyst, says that all three next generation iPhone models will feature wireless charging, according to Macrumors.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung’s top-tier phones have supported wireless charging since 2015’s Galaxy S6, and some Lumia phones (both under Nokia and Microsoft) had it back in the day, too.

A MORE TOILET-PROOF IPHONE Of course, if Apple ditches the Lightning port, it would ostensibly make the phone that much more resistant to water and other intrusive substances. In fact, The Korea Herald reports that the next iPhone will have a higher water resistance rating -- IP68 compared with the current generation’s IP67, for those keeping score. Again, in this category, Apple would be playing catch up: Samsung’s Galaxy S7, from 2016, is IP68 certified.

CAMERAS AS A PORTAL TO AUGMENTED REALITY. Apple CEO Tim Cook is talking a lot about dual-lens cameras these days. Probably because they can help a device place virtual things in your real-world view. (Other phones in the Google-sphere are already doing this -- albeit badly).

It’s possible that the next iPhone could come equipped with a dual-lens camera that could scan the world and overlay 3D objects onto it with great accuracy. For example, such an iPhone could recognize people or objects when you point the camera in their direction. (Apple already does something a little like this with iOS 10’s facial-recognition software).

Now that sounds like a more useful application for advanced optical technology than selfies.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? Fast Company reports that the 10th anniversary edition of the iPhone could cost more than $1,000. Note that this is based on an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink interpretation of expected features and components including a virtual home button, AR capabilities, an OLED display -- we remain particularly dubious of this one -- and a significant memory upgrade. And by the way, for context, today’s top of the line, 256GB iPhone 7 Plus costs $969 off the shelf.

The 49ers are proof that good things come to those who wait. Every NFL season ends on a Sunday. The Monday that immediately follows is called “Black Monday” because of teams that are not satisfied with their current coaches will fire them. Several teams did exactly that a few weeks ago, as the NFL season ended. The 49ers were one of the teams that did exactly that after having ended the season with an embarrassing record of (2-14).

Every team in need of a new coach hired one within a few weeks of the vacancies created around the league. Owner and 49ers CEO Jed York waited and planned carefully as to how he was going to make his next hire. York was not only in need of a new head coach, but a general manager as well. Things have fallen neatly into place for the 49ers as far as filling their management needs are concerned.

The Super Bowl just ended with the Patriots defeating the Atlanta Falcons, and what a game it was. The Patriots and Falcons both contributed to NFL history. The Patriots did something positive in coming back from a twenty five point deficit to win in the first overtime victory in the Super Bowl era. Tom Brady now has five Super Bowl championships, and has been instrumental in every championship that the Patriots franchise have won.

Meanwhile the new 49ers head coach who was the OC, or offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was a part of the unfortunate Atlanta Falcons negative effort. The Falcons were the victims of the Patriots victory. Shanahan did a great job, but is being held by some to be responsible for the loss for making some questionable decisions during the course of the contest. Many however disagree, calling the loss a combination of contributing factors.

At any rate, Kyle Shanahan is being welcomed to San Francisco with jubilation! Kyle is being viewed around the NFL as one of the most brilliant offensive minds in football.

Shanahan will be united with the 49ers new General manager and NFL Hall of fame candidate John Lynch.

The combination of John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan appears to be the perfect match that Jed York worked so hard to achieve. Kyle is the one who pretty much chose John. The Compatibility, and chemistry that York was striving for seems to have been achieved between the new leading men that are now responsible for the 49ers future. 49ers fans can look for some very exciting days ahead in this 2017 off season period.

With only 30-games left in the season, the games have already heated up for the playoffs. Our San Jose Sharks are once again A-top the Pacific division, keeping a close lead over the Anaheim Ducks. Over on the East Coast, the Montreal Canadians lead the Atlantic division, while the Washington Cap’s lead the Metro league, with having the best record in the NHL. Wild Card hopefuls, the Los Angeles Kings, and the New York Rangers are still the silent and deadly teams that are no stranger to making a Cinderella run for the Cup. As usual, the statement that comes to light, “offense wins games, but Defense wins championships” will be of great focus as the team’s head towards the finish line. Our Sharks hope to “lean on” Brent Burns, easily the best Defenseman in the league. But, let’s not count out the Washington Cap’s: Matt Niskanen, and Philadelphia’s own Shayne Gostisbehere.

We’ll need strong play from our Veteran Grinders: Jumbo-Joe Thorton, and Patrick Marleau, who is just finishing up a big milestone with his 500th Goal, and being named January player of the month.

What happens these last few games? Do our Sharks finally get to the promise land? Are we ready to hoist the cup? We are right-there in the “thick of it”. Godspeed for our boys these last few games.
