One hundred thirty cases of suicides on children and teens are related to a new cult phenomenon. Social networks have become in a powerful tool to harm people. In pasta articles, I mentioned some groups that allow themselves to become addicts to internet and seclude almost completely from external world (Hikikomoris), and others to commit murders in pursuit of popularity (Holk Legion). Today a new phenomenon has authorities on alert worldwide, the blue whale

130 casos de suicidios de niños y adolescentes se atribuyen a un nuevo fenómeno sectario. Las redes sociales se han convertido en una poderosa herramienta para causar daño entre las personas. En artículos pasados hice mención sobre ciertos grupos que se dejan llevar a la adicción a internet hasta aislarse casi por completo del mundo exterior (Hikikomoris), y a otros que llevan a los adolescentes a cometer asesinatos en el afán de lograr popularidad (Legión Holk). Ahora existe un nuevo fenómeno que tiene en alerta a las autoridades a nivel mundial, la ballena azul.

A new game which purpose is suicide. The game named after the suicidal behavior of whales, who swim ashore to die, apparently by their own decision. The same way some teens found their guided way to death. Under an evil leadership and encourage by social networks, this groups of death begin to exists.

Se trata de un “juego” cuya finalidad es el suicidio. De ahí el nombre ballena azul, ya que estos cetáceos ocasionalmente se acercan a morir a las costas, aparentemente por decisión propia. Así mismo los jóvenes están encontrando un camino guiado hacia la muerte. Bajo un liderazgo maquiavélico y potencializados por las redes sociales surgen estos grupos de la muerte.

The promoters of these suicides are leaders who communicate and viralize through social networks – Vkontakte in Russia, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in the rest of the world- Using hashtags like #bluewhalechallenge, #curatorfindme, #helpmedie and #Imingame. It is a closed game. The contestants must pass some filters and keep a confidentiality protocol to enter. Once the game starts, there is no turning back. The leaders or “curators” have the information of the player’s family and threat them with harming them in case of a negative or quitting. The participating victims or whales usually have depressing tendency, who have suffered any kind of abuse or bulling thereby becoming vulnerable to this manipulation. Any teenager who had the idea in their mind of taking away their lives find in the game a companion and a way to fulfill such desire. It is worth to mention some teenagers want to be recognized and accepted throughout their death. The Blue Whale game consist in taking part on 50 registered trials – Photo or Video – in 50 days. The level of difficulty of these trials increase every time; for example, drawing a blue whale, tattoo a blue whale in their body or shape it on their skin using a knife. Including eating from 5 to 20 raw eggs, eat raw chicken gizzard, wake up at 4 am and watch horror movies and listen to music form links (Like Slipknot) sent by the tutors or “curators”. Draw a Ouija table and sent a video playing it, get near the edge of a cliff; stand still in the middle of a traveled road; and finally, commit suicide by jumping from a balcony or bridge, hanging themselves darting at a cliff or rushing river. There are testimonies from victims’ parents who found evidence on mobile phones and social networks about the steps leading to suicide. Parents have stated the appearance of strange behaviors prior to the death like lack of sleep, tiredness, irritability, lack of appetite, excessive use of social networks and self-injuries in reference to the whale (Cuts or tattoos) The occurrence of the blue whales is concerning authorities of different countries, who are currently doing a joint effort to prevent this practice go viral. Psychologists, Sociologist, Police Investigation Commits, cyber security companies are making a call to parents and school entities to be on standby and prevent this new fatal game to spread.

Los participantes deben pasar unos filtros y mantener un protocolo de confidencialidad para ingresar. Una vez comienza no hay vuelta atrás. Los líderes o “curadores” cuentan con la información de las familias de los jugadores y amenazan con atentar contra ellas en caso de alguna negativa o de querer renunciar. Las víctimas o ballenas participantes suelen ser adolescentes con tendencias depresivas, quienes han sufrido alguna forma de maltrato o bullying y por ende se hacen vulnerables a estas formas de manipulación. Cualquier joven a quien se le haya pasado por la cabeza quitarse la vida encuentra en el juego un acompañamiento y un método para cumplir tal propósito. Cabe resaltar que algunos adolescentes buscan ser reconocidos y aceptados así sea a través de la muerte. El Juego de la ballena azul consiste en llevar a cabo 50 pruebas registradas –fotos o video- en 50 días. Las pruebas van incrementando en nivel de dificultad; por ejemplo, dibujar una ballena azul, tatuarse la ballena en alguna parte del cuerpo o trazarla con una cuchilla en la piel, comer de 5 a 20 huevos crudos, comer mollejas de pollo crudas, levantarse a las 4 de la mañana a ver películas de terror y a escuchar música de links (tipo Slipknot) enviados por los tutores o “curadores”, dibujar una tabla Ouija y enviar un video jugando, acercarse al borde de un precipicio, quedarse quieto en medio de carreteras transitadas, y finalmente, suicidarse, sea tirándose desde un balcón o un puente, ahorcándose o lanzándose desde un acantilado o a un rio caudaloso. Existen testimonios de padres de víctimas quienes han encontrado evidencias en celulares y en redes sobre los pasos guiados al suicidio. También se ha evidenciado casos de comportamientos extraños preliminares a las muertes, tales como falta de sueño, cansancio, irritabilidad, falta de apetito, abuso del tiempo en redes y autolesiones con alusión a las ballenas (cortes o tatuajes). El fenómeno de la ballena azul es motivo de preocupación para las autoridades de diferentes países, quienes se encuentran trabajando mancomunadamente para intentar frenar la viralización de estas prácticas. Psicólogos, sociólogos, comités de investigación de la policía, empresas de ciberseguridad y de crímenes informáticos hacen un llamado a los padres de familia y a las entidades escolares para que estén alertas y eviten la propagación de este nuevo juego fatal.

How do you finish the climb and live your dream? How do you get back on track when stuck, fearful, lost, or confused? Successful people know that achievement, more often than not, comes with great pain and sacrifice. It is inevitable that along the road to living our dreams and finding success, hurdles and challenges confront us. There is a key to opening that door and setting yourself free. In this article, I’m going to empower you to fly without a net. Roadblocks and diversions distract us, slow us down. We don’t have the time; we’re tired at the end of a long day; we have families to tend for; the dog ate our homework, and we’re too preoccupied with other responsibilities of adulthood. Sound familiar? Or perhaps, what is holding you back is the lack of tools, education, or the money to invest in your dreams? Maybe you plan to start tomorrow. Awareness is the first step to eliminating those problems. The fact you are reading this article means you are aware that change is needed. Keep reading. The reality is, WE hold ourselves back more than anything else. Circumstance is never the culprit. It’s our attitude. It’s our perspective. It’s our fear. I’ve read many stories about regular people overcoming the impossible. I’ve also heard many tales of people who were gifted with so much potential and opportunity, who got stuck and never realized their dreams. Why is that? In the words of Simon Sinek, “Start with why?” Leverage your sense of purpose. Take the time to ask yourself what you really want to do and why you are doing it? A deep motivation hides within our Why. If our sense of purpose is strong enough, it will fuel the engine to navigate the journey. Be careful! Your Why is a Siamese twin connected at the hip. The first of those twins is the Altruistic Why, ”the beautiful twin.” That’s the politically correct sense of purpose. It’s the generous giving part of your Why. It’s the motivation that makes you the consummate social entrepreneur or humanitarian. It’s the part of you that cares and wants to provide a service that makes the world a better place. It’s the one you read of in company mission statements designed to capture the loyalty of the consumer. The second half of your purpose is the secretive and negatively viewed, Ego-Driven Why, ”the ugly twin”. It’s the selfish reward, applause-seeking, and self-validating sentiment you get from your achievement and from your generosity. It’s the self-serving emotion of feeling relevant, loved, powerful, important, rich, accepted, elevated, beautiful, and of value. All the listed traits, of which many were omitted, are dependent on your personality type and values.

¿Cómo terminas la subida y vives tu sueño? ¿Cómo vuelves a la pista cuando estás atascado, temeroso, perdido o confundido? La gente exitosa sabe que el logro, más a menudo que no, viene con gran dolor y sacrificio. Es inevitable que en el camino de vivir nuestros sueños y encontrar el éxito, los obstáculos y desafíos nos confronten. Hay una llave para abrir esa puerta y liberarte. En este artículo, voy a darte el poder de volar sin una red. Los obstáculos y las diversiones nos distraen; nos desaceleran. En palabras de Simon Sinek, “Comienza con ¿por qué?” Aprovecha tu sentido del propósito. Tómate el tiempo para preguntarte lo que realmente quieres hacer y por qué lo estás haciendo. Una motivación profunda se esconde dentro de nuestro Por qué. Si nuestro sentido del propósito es lo suficientemente fuerte, alimentará el motor para navegar el viaje. ¡Ten cuidado! Tu Por qué es un gemelo siamés conectado a la cadera. El primero de esos gemelos es el Por qué Altruísta - “el gemelo hermoso”. Ese es el sentido políticamente correcto del propósito. Es la generosa parte de su Por qué. Es la motivación que hace de ti el consumado empresario social o humanitario. Es la parte de ti que se preocupa y quiere ofrecer un servicio que hace que el mundo sea un lugar mejor. Es el que lees en las declaraciones de la misión de la empresa, diseñados para capturar la lealtad del consumidor. La segunda mitad de tu propósito es el reservado y negativamente visto, Por qué llevado por el ego- “el gemelo feo”. Es la recompensa egoísta, el sentimiento de aplauso y autovalidación que obtienes de tu logro y de tu generosidad. Es la emoción egoísta y poderosa de sentirse relevante, amado, poderoso, importante, rico, aceptado, elevado,

But please don’t deny that “ugly twin.” The ego is not always negative. It’s a great motivator. It’s been said that we either run away from pain or run towards pleasure. Both are selfmotivators. The Ego only becomes negative when it blinds us to the bigger and better picture of doing the right thing. The out of control negative Ego invites conflict, greed, disengagement, disappointment, resentment, envy, bullying, jealousy, and misunderstanding, due to lack of empathy. My altruistic sense of purpose is to inspire and empower individuals and organizations to reach higher and fly without a net. Through retrospection and introspection, I realized it has been my most authentic Why. One that aligns with everything I’ve subconsciously done in all my life chapters since childhood. My Ego-Driven why is love and meaning. I need to feel I matter. I’ve leveraged my ego to achieve my Altruistic Why—the bigger picture. What do you need to feel deep down inside in order to feel complete and thrive? As an individual, you must commit to your Why and your growth—it must become a part of your personal culture, your new lifestyle. You must find the hunger to weather the tempest of complacency, doubt, fear, and procrastination. You must hold yourself accountable—even better, share your dreams and who you wish to become with those who are batting for you and those who will graciously and encouragingly hold you accountable, all the while, celebrating your milestones, big and small, with you. Anybody else is not your tribe.

El Ego sólo se vuelve negativo cuando nos ciega de la imagen más grande y mejor de hacer lo correcto. El Ego negativo fuera de control invita al conflicto, a la avaricia, a la separación, a la decepción, al resentimiento, a la envidia, a la intimidación, a los celos y a la incomprensión debido a la carencia de la empatía. Mi sentido altruista de propósito es inspirar y empoderar a individuos y organizaciones para llegar más alto y volar sin una red. A través de la retrospección y la introspección, me di cuenta de que ha sido mi más auténtico por qué. Uno que se alinea con todo lo que he hecho subconscientemente en todos los capítulos de mi vida desde la infancia. Mi Por qué llevado por el Ego es el amor y el significado. Necesito sentir que importa. He aprovechado mi ego para lograr mi Por qué Altruísta: el panorama más amplio. ¿Qué necesitas para sentirte profundamente completo y prosperar? Como individuo, debes comprometerte con tu Por qué y tu crecimiento -- debe ser parte de tu cultura personal, tu nuevo estilo de vida. Debes encontrar el hambre para resistir la tempestad de la complacencia, la duda, el miedo y la dilación. Debes mantenerte responsable - incluso mejor, compartir sus sueños y quién deseas ser con aquellos que están bateando para ti y aquellos que de buena gana

They key to success is taking action. You must commit to the needed action on a consistent basis. You must see beyond the obstacles. Don’t allow them to discourage you. If your “Why” is strong enough it will fuel the other moving parts that drive self-actualization. You will most definitely experience failures and disappointments—they are inevitable disruptions along the way. You will oftentimes wish you’d, perhaps, never wasted your time on such a foolish endeavor; a venture you might think you’re not capable of achieving. You will probably worry and feel you’re not good enough or that the reach is too far out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to fail. Persevere, and endure. That sense of failure is temporary. It is only at the moment of giving up that you truly fail. Although your lip makeup seems very easy, there are some tricks that will make them look more attractive and moisturized. For this, you will need the following products: - A lip balm. I usually use a product called BLISTEX LIP MEDEX, which helps me moisturize the dry lips. You can find it in drugstores, but you can use any moisturizing lip balm.

Aunque maquillar los labios parezca algo sumamente fácil, hay algunos trucos que los harán lucir más atractivos e hidratados. Para ello, necesitarás los siguientes productos:

- A lip liner in a neutral tone or one of your lipstick color.

-Bálsamo para labios. Yo, generalmente, uso un producto llamado BLISTEX LIP MEDEX, que me ayuda a hidratar los labios resecos. Lo encuentras en las farmacias, pero puedes usar cualquier bálsamo hidratante para labios.

- A thin and flat synthetic hair brush, to apply the lipstick.

- A lip gloss (optional). - Concealer. 1. Exfoliate your lips softly. Do it at least once a week. 2. Apply the balm. This will help those uncomfortable pellets disappear. This step is necessary, especially if you use long-lasting lipsticks, which are the ones that tend to dry a little the lips skin. 3. Line your lips, as much to the outline as in the inner part. 4. With the thin and flat synthetic hair brush, apply your lipstick. Do it always taking care not to exceed the contours. 5. Apply a little lip gloss to give your lips freshness. 6.Finally, use your make-up concealer, and outline the outside of the lips. This will make your lipstick not run. The beauty is you!

There are certain habits we have mastered and these are a part of our daily routine. However, there are some that aren´t so easy to stick to. Making exercise a regular habit can be hard. Let´s compare it to one well-established habit to get a better perspective on why and how we can be more successful in making exercise a regular part of our daily routine.

Hay ciertos hábitos que hemos dominado y éstos son parte de nuestra rutina diaria. Sin embargo, hay algunos que no son tan fáciles de acatar. Incorporar el ejercicio a nuestra rutina diaria puede ser un hábito difícil de crear. Para obtener una mejor perspectiva de por qué y cómo poder convertirlo en un hábito exitoso, hay que compararlo con un hábito que ya tenemos bien establecido.

YOU WOULDN´T GO TO WORK WITHOUT BRUSHING YOUR TEETH IN THE MORNING, WOULD YOU? WHY?

¿NO SALDRÍAS AL TRABAJO SIN LAVARTE LOS DIENTES EN LA MAÑANA O SÍ? ¿POR QUÉ?

One, because brushing your teeth is habit that you have established for years, and two, because the consequences of that are not pleasant. So why don´t we follow other health habits the same way? Why do we stop exercising? Why isn´t there the same concern for our fitness goals and exercise habits? Maybe because we do not know where to start or maybe because we don´t see the true benefit that this can bring us.

Una, porque ya es un hábito que llevas años cumpliendo, y dos porque las consecuencias de eso no son nada agradables. Entonces, ¿Porque dejamos de hacer ejercicio? ¿Porque no nos preocupa de la misma manera, por vivir una vida más saludable y tener una rutina más activa? Tal vez porque no sabemos por dónde empezar, o tal vez porque no vemos el verdadero beneficio que este nos puede brindar. Hacer ejercicio te enseña a responsabilidad sobre tu salud y tu felicidad.

Exercising teaches you responsibility for your health and your happiness. Most of us get up and brush our teeth without even thinking, it is just something that our mind and body are used to doing. It’s a habit we developed at an early age. Exercising is not something we are regularly taught in the same manner but it is something we can learn to love and a habit we can develop. Look at it this way; If for some reason something happened that forced us to not brush our teeth, we would be very uncomfortable and we would find a way to make sure we do not have bad breath. The concept of exercise is very similar but we don´t normally see it like that. In fact, both brushing your teeth and performing regular exercise are essential health habits but why do we find it so easy to carry out one on a daily basis while the other is harder to stick to?

La mayoría de nosotros nos levantamos y nos lavamos los dientes hasta por inercia no necesariamente lo pensamos, es algo que nuestra mente y cuerpo están acostumbrados a hacer. Es algo que nos enseñaron desde pequeños. Hacer ejercicio no es normalmente algo que nos enseñen metódicamente de niños. Sin embargo, si es algo que podemos aprender a querer y un hábito que podemos desarrollar. Veámoslo de esta manera: Si por alguna razón algo sucediera que nos forzara a no poder lavarnos los dientes, estaríamos muy incomodos y buscaríamos la manera de asegurarnos de no tener mal aliento. Con el ejercicio es lo mismo pero normalmente no lo vemos así. El ejercitarte es algo que te ayuda a sentirte bien no solo físicamente

Exercise is something that helps you feel good not only physically but also emotionally, but rarely are we consistent enough to turn it into a permanent habit. Just like when you don´t brush your teeth you feel uncomfortable, when you do not exercise, your body asks for healthy actions but over time we learn to ignore them. We have to stop ignoring our body´s pleads for physical activity. Once we are able to start making exercise a regular part of our life we not only look good but we feel good. Taking responsibility for your health and habits allows you to live a fuller and happier life. EXERCISING TEACHES YOU TO HAVE DISCIPLINE AND FAITH. We already established that just as brushing your teeth makes you feel good, so does exercise, but why then is one harder to stick to? Maybe the problem is that the consequences are not lived the same way. No one says to you: “Excuse me, I do not want to be rude but you did not exercise today,” Right? However, it is not uncommon for someone to say something about your breath when you do not brush your teeth. This is an important factor and one of the reasons why more discipline is required when it comes to exercise. Nobody tells you anything if you do not do it. Exercising is an act of inner self-love that you yourself have to learn to carry out. It also requires faith to be constant since the results or consequences of doing or not exercising are seen in the long run, not immediately. EXERCISING TEACHES YOU TO BE CONSISTENT. Many would argue that brushing your teeth does not take more than 3 minutes. Maybe that’s why it’s so easy to do this. Exercising takes about 30 minutes or an hour. This makes it hard to incorporate it into a busy lifestyle. However it does not necessarily have to be this way. It is not about lasting hours making exaggerated efforts at the gym. Start with something small, something you can stick to everyday. The key is to be consistent. You can start with 3 minutes. We all have 3 minutes. Sit against the wall doing a static squat for 50 seconds for 3 times while you check your Facebook. Do planks for 30-seconds 3 times while reading your email on the cell phone. Stand and sit in the chair repeatedly while reading the newspaper for 3 minutes. There are numerous ways to exercise without necessarily “wasting time”. Focus on being consistent and when you can achieve at least 1 to 3 minutes of daily exercise every day for a whole month, then add another two minutes of jogging in your place or crunches or some other simple exercise you can do anywhere. This will make it easier to be constant and it will help you build better exercise habits even if it is a little at a time. You may not see great achievements in your physique immediately but I can guarantee that achieving this daily will surely make you feel better about yourself. EXERCISING HELPS YOU TO GROW AS A PERSON. If you focus on working out for the right reasons, exercise can help you grow in many aspects of life. It is not always about your physical appearance, as many people believe. Of course it’s nice to look good or lose a few extra pounds, but exercising goes beyond this. It is about how you feel, it is about the love you give yourself and the time you invest in you. Make exercise your priority not for what you are going to see in the exterior but for what you feel in your interior. Making time to exercise is about more than just physical wellness, it is about growing, learning, valuing yourself, getting to know yourself as only you can, giving yourself what you deserve: love.

Nadie te dice: “Oye, no quiero ser grosero pero no hiciste ejercicio hoy, ¿verdad?” Sin embargo no es fuera de lo común que si te digan algo cuando no te lavas los dientes. Esto es un factor importante y una de las razones porque se requiere de más disciplina cuando se trata del ejercicio. Nadie te dice nada si no lo haces. El ejercitarte es un acto de auto-amor más interno que tú mismo tienes que aprender a llevar a cabo. También se requiere fé para poder ser constante ya que los resultados o consecuencias de hacer o no hacer ejercicio se ven a largo plazo, no de inmediato. HACER EJERCICIO TE ENSEÑA A SER CONSTANTE. Muchos argumentarían que lavarte los dientes no toma más de 3 minutos, tal vez por eso es tan fácil cumplir con esta tarea. Hacer ejercicio nos toma alrededor de 30 minutos o una hora. Esto hace que sea algo difícil incorporarlo de forma habitual a un estilo de vida muy ocupado. Sin embargo no necesariamente tiene que ser así. No se trata de durar muchas horas o un largo tiempo haciendo esfuerzos exagerados. Comienza con algo pequeño diario pero que sea constante. Comienza con 3 minutos. Todos tenemos 3 minutos. Siéntate contra la pared haciendo una sentadilla estática por 50 segundos 3 veces mientras revisas tu Facebook. Has una plancha de 30 segundos durante 3 minutos mientras lees tu correo en el celular. Párate y siéntate de la silla rápida y continuamente mientras lees el periódico por 3 minutos. Hay muchas formas de ejercitarte sin necesariamente “perder el tiempo”. Enfócate en ser constante y cuando puedas lograr hacer al menos 1 a 3 minutos de ejercicio diario durante todo un mes, entonces agrégale otros dos minutos de trote en tu lugar o abdominales o algún otro ejercicio sencillo que puedas hacer en casa. De esta forma es mucho más fácil enfocarte en ser constante. Lo cual debería ser tu principal objetivo. Tal vez no veas grandes logros en tu físico con esto pero estoy segura que te sentirás mejor de ti mismo. HACER EJERCICIO TE AYUDA A CRECER COMO PERSONA. Si te enfocas en llevarlo a cabo por las razones correctas, el ejercicio te ayuda a crecer en muchos aspectos de la vida. No siempre se trata de tu aspecto físico como muchos lo creen. Claro es lindo verte bien y desacerté de unos kilos de más, pero hacer ejercicio va más allá de esto. Se trata de cómo te sientes, del amor que te tienes y del tiempo que te dedicas. Hazlo tu prioridad no por lo que se va a ver en lo exterior sino por lo que tú sientes en tu interior. El hacer tiempo para hacer ejercicio se trata más de lo físico se trata de crecer, de aprender, de valorarte, de conocerte como solo tú puedes, de darte lo que tú te debes dar: amor.

Rompers, fringe leather bags, pearl sandals, denim skirts, and sunglasses may seem like a bunch of random items, but put them all together and you have a perfect summer starter pack that will have you ready for anything! Of course, you won’t exclusively wear these pieces, but when matched with the season-less pieces you already own, you’ll have the most functional and fashion forward wardrobe for the upcoming months. Summer can be very unpredictable, you never know how hot it will be and my number one fashion rule is to always be comfortable in anything that I wear. If you’re not comfortable then it’s harder to “rock” an outfit to its fullest potential. I’m originally from Las Vegas. the temperatures there are very extreme, and a few years ago I moved to Los Angeles so now that I live in LA I am able to be a little more flexible with my attire during the summer because it’s not blazing hot! Rompers are amazing because you don’t even have to try... all you have to do is pair them with good shoes and accessories, and your outfit is complete! They are comfortable, trendy, and easy to dress up and down! Of course, you are going to have some downfalls to every piece of clothing because nothing is perfect. For example rompers are terrible when using the restroom! OMG Who likes to get completely naked just to use the restroom! Just keep that in mind when you are in a hurry! Fringe bags are everything to me right now! If you follow me on Instagram then I’m sure you can tell how much I love my white fringe bag from JustFab. It looks so trendy and fresh whenever I wear it. It also adds a little something extra to your outfit and let’s face it, that never hurts! I’ve seen pearl embroidery everywhere this season! Especially in Zara, they have skirts, denim, dresses, and another one of my obsessions pearl sandals. I love finding pieces that look chic and expensive but are actually extremely affordable. I’m definitely a bargain shopper, styles are always coming and going but since trends do tend to come back I don’t mind spending a little more on a couple of good quality signature pieces. Denim skirts are EVERYWHERE! I love them, they remind me of when I was in the eighth grade. When I used to shop at Abercrombie or Hollister and had a million of those slogan T-shirts. That said for example, “ Can I borrow a million dollars.”. You see a lot of fashion influencers rocking them in all different ways now! A few of my favorite types of denim skirts are the regular colored denim and the black denim with a distressed look. They are so easy to pair too which is a plus... You can pair them with a crop top, bodysuit, or an oversized sweatshirt, depending on your mood. Sunglasses are a must for every season! You’ll always need sunglasses, they work for every season! The downfall to sunglasses is that they are very easy to lose. I always lose my sunglasses so I don’t normally like to buy expensive brands and I do, I only use them on special occasions. I like to find glasses that look similar and that aren’t very expensive. I’m currently obsessed with my Celine look-alike shades. I got them for 20$ on the streets of Hollywood and Highland... WHAT A STEAL! Moral of the story chooses what you spend your money on wisely! I hope my top 5 items for summer helped you get a better idea of what to get. Always remember to look for the better deals before spending your money on trends that will only last you a season, sometimes is wise to wait a little before you break the bank! Los mamelucos, los bolsos de cuero con franjas o flecos, las sandalias de la perla, las faldas del dril de algodón o mezclilla, y las gafas o anteojos de sol pueden parecer como un manojo de artículos al azar, pero si los ponen todos juntos y tendrás un conjunto perfecto para el verano y ¡para cualquier ocasión! Por supuesto, usted no usará estas piezas individualmente, pero cuando las combine con las piezas de otras temporadas que usted ya posee, tendrá el guardarropa más funcional y a la moda. Son cómodos, modernos y fáciles de vestir de poner y ¡de quitar! Por supuesto, no hay pieza perfecta, por ejemplo los mamelucos no son funcionales cuando se tiene que ir ¡al baño! ¡OH DIOS! ¿A quién le gusta quedarse completamente desnuda sólo para usar el baño? Así que tenga esto en cuanta cuando se tenga que arreglar de prisa. Yo tengo una debilidad con las bolsas con flecos o fringes. Si me siguen en Instagram entonces estoy segura de que puede decir lo mucho que me encanta mi bolsa de flecos blanca de JustFab. Me siento tan moderna y fresca siempre que la uso y también porque añade algo extra y diferente a mi conjunto… seamos realistas, eso nunca esta de ¡más! He visto bordados de perlas por todas partes esta temporada. Especialmente en Zara, tienen faldas, denim o mezclilla, vestidos, y por su puesto otra de mis obsesiones: sandalias de perlas. Me encanta encontrar piezas que parecen elegantes y finas, pero en realidad son muy accesibles. Definitivamente soy una compradora de gangas, los estilos siempre van y vienen, pero ya que las tendencias tienden a volver no me importa gastar un poco más en un par de piezas de buena calidad o de marca. ¡Las faldas del dril de algodón están ¡POR TODAS PARTES! Me encantan, me recuerdan cuando estaba en el octavo grado, cuando solía comprar en Abercrombie o Hollister y tenía un millón de esas camisetas con lemas o dichos como por ejemplo, “¿Puedo pedir prestado un millón de dólares.” ¡¡muy cómicas!! ¡Usted vera muchos influyentes de la moda usándolas de muchas maneras y estilos! Algunos de mis estilos favoritos de las faldas de mezclilla son el dril de algodón de color regular y el denim negro. Son tan fáciles de combinar y eso también es un extra ... Usted puede combinarlas con blusas, chalecos, camisetas, o hasta con una sudaderas grande, dependiendo de su estado de ánimo o a donde va. ¡Las gafas de sol son una necesidad para cada estación! ¡Siempre necesitarás gafas de sol, van bien en todas las temporadas! Lo único malo de las gafas de sol es que son muy fáciles de perder. Yo siempre pierdo mis gafas de sol, así que normalmente no me gusta comprar las de marcas caras y si lo hago, solo las uso en ocasiones especiales. Me gusta encontrar gafas que parezcan similares a las de marca a un precio mas razonable. Actualmente estoy obsesionada con unos anteojos muy parecidos a los Celine. Los conseguí por $20 dolares en las calles de Hollywood y Highland ... ¡QUÉ GANGA! Moraleja de la historia… elija bien en lo que gasta su dinero. Espero que mis 5 mejores artículos para el verano le hayan ayudado a tener una mejor idea de qué necesita adquirir para estar a la moda. Siempre recuerde buscar las mejores ofertas antes de gastar su dinero en las tendencias que quizá sólo durarán una temporada, a veces es aconsejable esperar un poco antes de romper ¡el banco! More and more we see the impact Blogging has with Millennials and even though is believed that they are considered the most educated generation, and the reason why we expect them to be 75% of the workforce in the next few years, they also hold a trillion dollars student loans debt. So what are they doing to create an income? Many of them have resourced to blogging, after facing the reality their field of choice, or what they went to college for, is not an immediate possibility for them. But what is blogging? the word is a short for web + log! I used to think that it was pretty much like having a website but is more than that. With blogging, they have the opportunity to “journal their life” as they see it. They share what they like, what they believe and support, they show places they visit, the food they’ve tried or are fond of, they endorse products they enjoy and talk about subjects that other Millennials can identify with. They use blogging as a way to build trust and rapport with their prospects and some of them are making a living out of this. I reached out to a couple of bloggers, one very different from the other, to pick their brains and learn a little more about the subject and to find out why they are blogging, what inspired them and where they want to go with their blogs. So for the first part of our article, we met with Destiny H. Thompson. I have to confess I have seen this girl grow up from a teenager to a very successful adult in front of my eyes, as she went to school with one of my girls. Destiny is originally from Las Vegas, NV and currently living in Houston with her sweetheart and two adorable kids. Being a lover of all things like beauty, fashion, fitness, home, & family and a promoter of all things good for the mind, body, & spirit, as she describes herself, she was motivated by her mom and her husband to create a space where she could share

Cada vez más vemos el impacto que tiene el Blogging con los Millennials y aunque se cree que son considerados la generación más educada, y la razón por la cual esperamos que sean el 75% de la fuerza de trabajo en los próximos años, también tienen un trillón de dólares de deuda en préstamos estudiantiles. Entonces, ¿qué están haciendo para crear un ingreso? Muchos de ellos han recurrido a los blogs, después de enfrentar la realidad de que quizá su campo de elección, o lo que estudiaron en la universidad, no es una posibilidad inmediata para ellos. Pero, ¿qué es blogging? La palabra es un diminutivo de web + log! Es decir entradas en la pagina Web. Yo solía pensar que era como tener un sitio o pagina web, pero es más que eso. Con los blogs, tienen la oportunidad de “publicar su vida” tal como la ven. Ellos comparten lo que les gusta, lo que creen y apoyan, muestran lugares que visitan, la comida que han probado o les gustan, respaldan productos que disfrutan y hablan de temas con los que otros Millennials pueden identificarse. Ellos usan los blogs como una forma de crear confianza y una relación con posibilidades que puedan servirles en un futuro y algunos de ellos están ganándose la vida con esto. Me contacte con un par de “bloggers”, uno muy diferente del otro, para indagar y aprender un poco más sobre el tema y averiguar por qué tienen blogs o páginas personales en la internet, lo que los inspiró a empezarlos y dónde quieren llegar con sus blogs. Así que para la primera parte de nuestro artículo, nos reunimos con Destiny H. Thompson. She knew she wanted to be a stay home mom, she wanted to be able to spend time with her family but she also knew she wanted to do something for herself so, she started TrulyDestiny.com a couple of years ago in 2015 when she was 23 years old. At first, she was uncertain about what exactly would come of it, but she knew she had a pretty good following on social media where often times women and moms would ask her questions. Many bloggers have professional help to build their blog, not Destiny! She was newly graduated from college, didn’t have a huge budget to hire anyone to help her, plus she didn’t want to invest in something she didn’t know was going to bring in an income for her family so “I built my website all on my own,” she explained “I spent hours every night after I put my son to bed researching and figuring out how to create my blog. I purchased my hosting, domain, and a starter with a layout from Etsy for around $100”. And just like that what it started as a hobby, has become her profession, “It makes me so happy to be able to do something that I love… I am so proud of where it has taken me today… I am so passionate about what I share and love to work on it. Creating new content and working with brands is so exciting to me and I love that I am able to put everything that I love + inspires me into a creative space of my own!”. CLAUDIA NORIEGA-BERNSTEIN: HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND BLOGGING? DESTINY THOMPSON: I definitely treat blogging as a full-time job, but I am a full time, stay at home mom first. I set aside time every day (before kids wake up, in the morning while I am feeding them, during nap time, and when they go to bed) to work. “I want people to always know that my family and my babies are my everything and that being a mom is my biggest and happiest accomplishment.” Destiny Thompson CNB: A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THAT BLOGGING IS AN EASY WAY TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE. DO YOU HAVE SOME TIPS FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN MAKING MONEY FROM THE BLOG? DT: I can attest that blogging is not easy. There is a lot of research, planning, and so much that goes into it. It also takes a while before a lot of people are able to make money. I work hard every day researching, taking photos, having conference calls with brands,

CNB: CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT FEW SOURCES FROM WHERE YOU GET PRODUCTS FOR REVIEW ON YOUR SITE? DT: Usually I share outfits that I personally buy myself and put together to share. I do work with companies who reach out to me to share different products. I am picky with who I work with and want to stay real and genuine with my readers, so I always only work with companies and products that I truly love and use! One of the most frustrating aspects of blogging is, in her opinion, the internet trolls. She has learned that no matter what anyone does, there will be people who will find fault in you and attempt to bring you down. Her advice: “Just try to ignore it. People will always try to bring you down. I know who I am, what I stand for, and I am happy with myself. I just always remember the real reason I blog, which is to share my passions with others and help provide for my family” And the secret to getting followers? “I think being yourself is huge- people don’t want to follow you if you’re just like every other blogger. Put your stamp on everything you do and share your personality! Being consistent with your posts is also key.” So here you have it. Work hard, be authentic, and be consistent! Wanting to be known as someone with integrity and values and who stands tall and strong in her beliefs, she hopes to inspire someone out there each day in some way. Pues aquí lo tienen. Trabajar duro, ser auténtico, y ser ¡cosistente! Querer ser conocida como alguien con integridad y valores y que se mantiene fuerte en sus creencias es lo que ella quiere y también el poder inspirar de alguna manera cada día. view the unique “Tivan Collection” of relics and species from all over the universe. His latest acquisition: The Guardians of the Galaxy. The Lobby of the fortress is both fascinating and creepy – filled with display cases that hold artifacts and living creatures, which The Collector has obtained and made available for public viewing. In a welcome video, The Collector explains how he has trapped the Guardians of the Galaxy high atop his fortress in secured glass cages that are wired with power from a massive generator and suspended over a deep abyss. Before leaving the Lobby and entering The Collector’s Office, hold up your hands to be “bioscanned” for security clearance. In the Office, even more of The Collector’s relics are on display and, as in the Lobby, the collection contains some hidden references that will delight dedicated Super Hero fans and Disney fans. Suddenly, Rocket appears, telling guests he needs their help. Using their security clearances, he can hijack the gantry lift to the top of the fortress, disable the generator, and free his friends. Of course, Rocket’s plan faces challenges. After you enter the gantry lift, Rocket overrides The Collector’s recorded tour spiel with music from the tape player of Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill). Soon, the gantry is shooting up into the fortress, then plummeting downward as Rocket attempts to take control of the generator. It’s here that you experience one of the attraction’s six different ride profiles, each synchronized to one of the songs on the “awesome mix tape”

3 COMMON IPHONE BATTERY PROBLEMS AND HOW TO FIX THEM Batería del iPhone: 3 problemas comunes y cómo solucionarlos By~Por: Matt Elliott

Is your iPhone slowing down with age? Or, in the case of its battery life, speeding up? One of the first signs of age on an iPhone is the battery not holding a charge as long as it once did. Of course, you might also experience odd battery behavior on a relatively new iPhone, where the battery conks out before the meter hits zero. Here are three common battery problems -- short battery life, shutting off unexpectedly, getting warm while charging -- and how to fix them. MY BATTERY DIES QUICKLY There could be any number of reasons for why your iPhone’s battery is draining quicker than usual, but the first place to start your investigation is Settings > Battery. Under Battery Usage, you can peruse a list of your apps and see how much battery each has consumed in the past 24 hours or seven days. If you can live without a battery-hungry app, then delete it. Before deleting an app, make sure you read the fine print and see if underneath its name in the above list, you see Background Activity or Background Location listed. An app might be eating more than its fair share of battery resources because it’s continually updating in the background or constantly requesting your location. For the former, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and

For the latter, head to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and, again, you can disable it globally or just for apps that are overusing the feature. I’ve also read that people have experienced better battery life by turning off “Hey Siri” because it means your iPhone isn’t always listening, waiting to spring into action when you utter those two magic words. To disable this feature, go to Settings > Siri and toggle off Allow “Hey Siri.” SUDDEN SHUTDOWNS This one is harder to pin down, where your iPhone dies before the battery meter hits zero. I’ve read advice about calibrating your iPhone’s battery by letting it drain all the way down and then charging it back to 100 percent, but I’ve never found calibration to do me any good. Instead, I suggest you follow this three-step process to address an iPhone that shuts down suddenly: 1. Check for a software update Perhaps there’s a new version of iOS that will play nicer with your iPhone and its battery. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see if an update is available. 2. Restore from backup or factory reset If you are running the latest version of iOS, then you might need to hit the reset button and start fresh. You can try restoring your iPhone to a recent backup you’ve made in iTunes or iCloud. If that doesn’t do the trick, then you might need to perform a factory reset. It’s a pain to get your phone set back up the way you like it, but at least your app purchases are available in the App Store so you can reinstall them for free. To perform a factory reset, go to Settings > General > Reset and then tap Erase All Content and Settings. 3. Head to a Genius Bar If your battery problems persist past a factory reset, then it might be time to visit your local Genius Bar or mail your phone in for repair. Apple can then run its diagnostics to see if there is a hardware issue with your phone. You can read about Apple’s battery warranty and start a repair request here. Personally, extreme temperature is often to blame for my iPhone shutting down seemingly at random. I live in New Hampshire, where winters are very cold and summers can get very hot. When I’m skiing or just out walking the dog on a particularly cold day in January, my iPhone will occasionally shut down. Same thing if I leave it in the direct sun in August. Apple recommends you keep your iPhone between 32 degree and 95 degree Fahrenheit, with 62 to 72 degrees being the ideal comfort zone. MY PHONE GETS HOT WHEN CHARGING That off-brand charger you picked up at CVS or Duane Reade? It might have cost a fraction of what you’d pay Apple for a replacement charger, and it might also come in a fun color other than white. But if your iPhone heats up to a worrisome degree when it’s plugged into your cheap charger, then it’s time to locate the charger that came with your iPhone or find a suitable replacement. You don’t necessarily need to buy from Apple, but Apple recommends you use only certified third-party accessories that have the Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod logo on their packaging.

This page is a very well-known page in the English world, and little or not known in the Spanish world, except in some states of Mexico, because it is very close to the Northern country, it has a vital function of digital communication, perhaps one of the pioneers in its genre.

Esta página muy conocida en el mundo en inglés, y poco o nada conocida en el mundo en español, salvo en algunos estados de México, por su proximidad con el país del norte tiene una función fundamental de comunicación digital, tal vez una de la pioneras en su género.

With a super simple and very fast style, we find all kinds of information, it is an opened window to the world, but in recent years we have seen, as it happens in real life, this page has been slowly losing its great presence, mainly in the page’s security. Almost 10 years ago, this page came to me through a friend who lives in Boston, and since then I have consulted the page.

I hope these modest pages would reach thousands and thousands of readers and among all of us, we can be able to save Craigslist. Since, in the last years it seems that the cancer of the swindlers has arrived there, they are there for all the tastes, colors, flavors, nationalities, and tendencies. Unfortunately, it is in a time of a great tribulation. For all of us who live outside the United States, we have seen that they gradually have tried to increase the security level of the page, but it has been almost in vain because those who frequently visit the page, we have been amazed to see how it is completely invaded by false ads. Yes, they are making an effort to reinforce the security of the page, from outside the United States and Canada, you cannot place ads but you look somehow those who do not understand that page is a great invention, they violate the security of the page and infect the categories. And the consequences are terrible for all, a great free ads service became an unsafe place, it is really sad that something

Esta página es como un supermercado de cosas, consigue desde un clavo hasta un avión. Muchos de nosotros nos hemos beneficiados encontrando un mundo de cosas, habrá quien hasta ha encontrado el amor de su vida, su casa soñada, su sillón tan anhelado, otros habrán hecho amistades duraderas, y otros simplemente no encontraron nada. Espero que estas humildes páginas lleguen a miles y miles de lectores y entre todos salvemos a Craigslist. Pues, en los últimos años parece ser que le ha llegado el cáncer de los estafadores, los hay de todos los gustos, colores, sabores, nacionalidades, y tendencias. Desafortunadamente, está en un momento de gran tribulación. Los que vivimos fuera de los Estados Unidos hemos visto como poco a poco han tratado de incrementar el nivel de seguridad de la página, pero ha sido casi en vano pues los que frecuentamos la página hemos visto asombrados como está completamente invadida de anuncios falsos. Si, se está haciendo un esfuerzo en reforzar la seguridad de la página, desde fuera de los Estados Unidos y Canadá, no se puede poner anuncios pero mire usted de alguna manera los que no

Una verificación telefónica, que, ya existe pero solo en los Estados Unidos y Canadá pero ha sido vulnerada una y otras vez ósea que eso nos sirve de mucho. Una verificación de dirección física, como lo hacen otras páginas, que enviaban una tarjeta a cada usuario y este recibía un código en esta tarjeta y de esta forma se hacía una verificación de dirección y al mismo tiempo el usuario como dicen los españoles se daba de alta. Hacer porque, no, ya que tenemos unos sistemas digitales tan avanzados una verificación de rostro, algo así como cuando se va pedir una visa, y los documentos se completan de forma digital, hacer una verificación de rostro. Los expertos digitales en seguridad tienen que aportar sus ideas para que la Gran página Craigslist no muera, debemos ser proactivos, cuantos de ustedes no han encontrado o han sido encontrados por otra persona en Craigslist. Lo que hagan o dejen de hacer las personas por Craigslist debería importarnos a todos, si no cuidamos este tipo de ayuda digital, muy probablemente va a desaparecer, si no hacemos lo que toda compañía ahora quiere que hagan sus empleados ser “PROACTIVOS”, “PROPOSITIVOS”, pues la empresa es de todos, y debemos participar activamente en el mejoramiento del ambiente laboral. Is this the right option for you? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons. First, buy an iPhone Yep, this is likely to be the dealbreaker for a lot of interested parties. To join Virgin’s “Inner Circle” and get the $1 plan, you must purchase an iPhone from an Apple Store or Virgin’s site and transfer your existing number. You can’t bring your own phone (not that you ever could with Virgin), and the company is no longer offering Android models. Virgin’s lineup includes all current-generation iPhones, from the iPhone SE (which starts at $279) to the iPhone 7 Plus (from $770). Although most prices line up with Apple’s, the SE is the standout bargain: Apple charges $399 for the 32GB model, though it has the advantage of being unlocked. If you buy from Virgin, it’ll be locked. Second, read the fine print As with Sprint’s deal, the $1 plan isn’t really just $1: You’ll be on the hook for taxes and fees each month. Granted, these won’t amount to more than just a few dollars, meaning you still come out way ahead compared with a traditional plan. Surprisingly, Virgin pulls no punches when it comes to its unlimited plan: You get unlimited calls and text messages, and up to 23GB of 4G LTE data per month -- way more than most people consume. And there are no consumption limits at all on Virgin’s “mobile-optimized video, gaming and music,” though video tops out at 480p resolution, music at 500Kbps and streaming cloud gaming at 2Mbps. (These are common caps and very easy to live with on a phone.) After the first year, your rate will return to normal: $50 per month (with AutoPay enabled). Because Virgin requires no contract, you can go elsewhere if you choose -- but keep in mind you may have to jump through some hoops to get your iPhone unlocked. Third, do the math Because we’re talking about dirt-cheap service, let’s look at the aforementioned iPhone SE($269.99 at Amazon.com) as it compares with some other options. Boost Mobile, another Sprint MVNO, currently has that model on sale for $160, for example. You can get a service plan for as little as $35 per month, which works out to $420 per year. Needless to say, Virgin still wins by a mile. Your total out-of-pocket is $580, and that’s for a lesser plan (3GB of LTE data versus 23GB). And to put this another way, whatever iPhone you buy, you’re essentially getting a year of free service. Period. Assuming you were paying, say, $50 per month before that, it’s a $600 savings. Fourth, enjoy the perks To sweeten the deal even further, Virgin is offering some extras that make T-Mobile Tuesdays look like chump-change. For example, how about a free flight to the UK? Buy one round-trip ticket there on Virgin Atlantic and you’ll pay just taxes and fees for a companion ticket. Similarly, if you book two nights in a Virgin hotel, you’ll score a third night for free. You can also get 15 bottles of vino from Virgin Wines for $60 -a purchase that would normally cost at least $230. Other perks includes discounts on airfare and an upcoming Virgin Sport event in San Francisco. So, is it a good deal? Heck, yes, it’s a good deal! Provided you were already planning to buy an iPhone, that is. The other consideration, of course, is Virgin’s backbone: Sprint is widely regarded as the US cellular network with the worst coverage. And although the company recently unveiled the Magic Box, a free signal booster for the home, it’s not likely to be available for Virgin customers. Best bet: Talk to friends and family members who use the service and see what their experience has been. (Likewise, check the comments section here; I suspect lots of readers will have opinions to share.)

The Canadian inventor Alexandru Duru designed and created, according to himself, a device that can fly for two minutes the impressive distance of 275 meters and 5 meters high.

Nearly 40 percent of jobs in the United States may be vulnerable to automation, computerization, artificial intelligence, robots and other machines within 15 years, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers. USC experts in manufacturing, technology, labor, education and business discuss the continued growing pains for work and society in the age of automation. AUTOMATION MEANS AUGMENTATION, NOT REPLACEMENT “As more sophisticated products are created that do not rely on cheap, human labor, automation will increase both profits and the wages of jobs where human workers are still needed. “Automation assists humans in overcoming their inherent limitations in speed, strength, size, accuracy, consistency and reaction time. It also helps in realizing products that have complex shapes and small feature sizes, and which also require high accuracy. People would never be able to create these products on their own. “Finally, automation can be leveraged to create innovative products that cannot be made using manual operations.” Satyandra Gupta can discuss the ways automation will improve employment and marketplace conditions, as well as its continued importance to manufacturing. I work in tech, but I am not a woman. You may think this disqualifies me from being a campaigner for more females in STEM and IT careers, but the reality is there is just as much – or possibly even more – responsibility on males in tech to promote and encourage a more diverse tech workforce. Technology is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S., with about 4.4 million available jobs projected by 2024, yet we lack the skilled professionals to fill these roles. This has created a STEM skills gap that can only be filled by continuing to educate and train the next generation of STEM, IT and computing professionals. But, we will continue to experience a skills gap as long as we perpetuate tech as a male-centric industry.

Despite the fact that more than half of the labor force is comprised of women, they continue to be severely underrepresented in the tech workforce. Female professionals account for only about a quarter of all computing occupations, and even fewer are employed in more innovative careers like software development and technology leadership.

Sure, part of this could be attributed to our culture’s perception of IT as a man’s career, as we see in movies and on TV and in ads. But, this notion to recruit more women into this industry is no new undertaking. We have been advocating for years now to little avail. The worst part is, despite our best efforts, we may be in a worse place now than we were before. The percentage of women in computing jobs actually has fallen over the past 23 years.

In order to do this, both men and women must come together to empower women to pursue these careers.

One of the biggest barriers discoursing women from becoming tech professionals is a lack of role models. We need tech professionals to step up and become leaders and trailblazers, both male and female, to take onus and lead the charge. Female tech professionals must be vocal and present their journey to tech as a path for young females to follow. Likewise, males need to also present female tech professionals as leaders in this space. No longer should women be classified as “women in tech.” We need both men and women to be viewed as equals in the tech profession. Again, this notion of female leaders in tech is nothing new, yet we continue to underplay the impact women have made in the industry. Dating back to Grace Hopper and Dorothy Vaughan to the women leading in tech today – such as Sheryl Sandberg the COO of Facebook and Susan Wojcicki the CEO of YouTube – there is a rich history of women making an impact in the tech, computing a programming professions.

One way to help increase interest in tech careers for female professionals is to start incorporating tech and STEM education at a younger age, to help build the future workforce and ensure we are prepared to fill the jobs of tomorrow. According to Girls Who Code, nearly three-fourths of young girls express interest in STEM and computer science careers, yet only 26 percent of computing jobs are held by women. If young girls lack the avenues to pursue tech careers, they most likely will become another statistic. If you are a tech professional, male or female, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and take action. Offer yourself as a mentor or role model to young people interested in tech, share your experiences on social media or in speaking opportunities. Disruption. Innovation. Technology. These buzz words have become the mantra of companies in today’s tech and business ecosystems. From the four-person startup to the corporate giant, keeping up with – and creating – innovative ideas is essential to success. Yet many businesses seem to lack a key asset to help create new solutions to everyday problems ― innovative employees. A University of Phoenix survey helps shed some light on why companies continue to battle an innovation gap despite their ability to recognize the importance of innovation. Nearly half of hiring managers surveyed cited innovation as a “very important” trait in a job candidate, yet one-third of hiring managers said their employees lack key traits like creativity and forward-thinking.1 What it boils down to is that there appears to be a discrepancy between what hiring managers expect when it comes to the level of innovation employees can provide and the resources and support employees may have access to. More than 40 percent of employees surveyed counter that, given access to new technology and dedicated resources, they feel they could be more innovative. Many attribute the limited innovation to a lack of access to the tools they need to innovate and limitations from barriers they face, such as a lack of time and funds.2 To stay ahead and stand apart from the competition, whatever the industry, employers should promote a company culture where innovation is encouraged to thrive. While an employee’s capacity to offer innovative solutions to solve complex problems is critical to drive change, employers have a responsibility to foster innovation as well. I can offer three tips to help companies foster a more innovative work environment. • Commit resources to develop an ecosystem or incubator department that allows employees to think outside the box and approach problem-solving in a safe environment. We all want to be innovative, but without stepping out of our comfort zone and making an emphasis to innovate, we never can. • Value “failing forward.” Companies can be more innovative if they create an environment in which people aren’t afraid to try new ideas, share them and sometimes falter. By failing and learning, companies and employees are able to grow. • Offer employees the opportunities for professional development. According to the survey, four out of 10 employees would like more training to help close the innovation gap. Our findings show that employees want to innovate, they just need the tolls and resources to do so. While companies should take the charge in fostering a more innovative workplace culture, employees must also take

• Don’t be afraid to try something new – whether it’s a new idea or trying out a new technology, expanding beyond your current skill and experiences will help you grow and enhance your career. • Take advantage of resources available in your current role. If your company offers an environment to test out a new idea or offers opportunities to take a course or attend a seminar that will help expand your skill set, take advantage of those opportunities. • Take time to think – and schedule it like you would any other appointment during the work week. We get caught up in the day to day and deadlines. Schedule 30 minutes each morning to research, think or explore a new solution to a problem or challenge. Giving yourself the gift of time will help you break away from the norm and look at and think about things differently. Ideas are currency in the modern business environment. More than a quarter of hiring managers put a premium on creativity in potential hires, and would hire an innovative thinker despite a lack of technical skills. It is in the employers and employees best interest to make an effort to improve workplace innovation.

Crack FC the new kid on the block

Crack FC el nuevo niño de la cuadra

Many people ask what ‘Crack’ means. In English, it has many definitions that are not positive or soothing to the ear. However, the word ‘Crack’ means something else in Spanish. Both the founders, Oscar and Choco gave pretty much the same definition when asked, a ‘Crack’ is to describe a soccer player that has an amazing ability to play the game of soccer. A ‘Crack’ is like an artist on the field, or a bulldog on the pitch. Or as Choco likes to explain it, a ‘Crack’ es un genio (a genius)! There are difficulties around the name for people that don’t know about soccer as Oscar mentioned, but as states, “It is all about educating people or branding the company in a successful manner. Just look at Uber. I would argue not too many people knew what Uber meant when they came out. And look at them now.” Crack FC, a new company that is exclusive in clothing for soccer aficionados. Interesting enough, here in the United States, besides the big boys such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and Reebok, there are not many other companies that are exclusive to soccer. Enter Crack FC, a Los Angeles based company that brands itself only around soccer here in the U.S. and abroad. So far Crack FC has obtained a pretty impressive repertoire of professional players representing the brand through Facebook and Instagram photos. For example, Tijuana’s Xolos’ Negro Medina, Fernando Arce, Topo Valenzuea. Also, Monterey’s Tigres’ Gringo Torres, Juninho, Costa and Jonathon Espiricueta. They even have MLS players such as Minnesota United’s Chirstian Ramirez, Miguel Ibarra and Atlanta United’s Greg Garza and Leandro Pirez and even LA Galaxy’s Jelle Van Damme has posted a pic on Instagram with the Crack FC shirt and hat. Founders Oscar Montealegre and Jose “Choco” Gomez realized that there was a space for a soccer brand that people can identified with. Oscar Montealegre notes, “In surfing you have Billabong, Skateboarding Vans or Thrasher, basketball it is Nike, Golf it is Callaway and Nike. But what about soccer? It’s always the big brands. Well we want to change that!” The company was launched in mid- February and so far they made significant crossroads. Some background about the founders. Oscar Montealegre was born in the U.S., but his parents are Colombian. He played soccer his whole life until a major ankle surgery forced him to hang his

cleats once and for all. Nevertheless, as many people can relate, soccer is his passion and Crack FC gives him an outlet to satisfy his soccer fix. Jose “Choco” Gomes was born in Mexico, but he now resides in Los Angeles. His soccer career catapulted him to Division I soccer at Creighton University, where he reached the final four in the 2010-2011 season. After college, Choco played for Atlante F.C. in Cancun for one year. Crack FC’s backbone comes from a soccer pedigree, making the company more legitimate and pardon my layman term, ‘more real’. Crack FC is a primarily an e-commerce company. Consumers can buy hats shirts online. Also, on their website they have a pretty cool feature call Crack Adventures. This is where Oscar or Choco travel domestically and internationally and watch professional football games and film their experience and then post the videos on their website. “Soccer is watched in many ways, so we wanted to give people a different perspective on how we watch soccer and also to showcase different fans throughout the world to the Crack Community.” So far Crack Adventures have been in Colombia, Mexico, Iceland and even Cardiff, Wales, for the UEFA Champions League final. As Choco states, “Soccer is global, so we don’t want create our own borders for our own company, and Crack Adventures creates an outlet to be more of an international soccer brand.” From their sales they do look like a global brand from receiving orders from Mexico, Colombia, United Kingdom, Sweden and Canada. But right now their short term focus is in the U.S. and Mexico. “For the next six months we want to focus on Mexican and MLS players. So far we’re getting amazing response from these two markets. After we reached a market share that we’re comfortable with in the U.S. and Mexico we will then aggressively market ourselves in Colombia due to their robust economy and a growing shift towards buying online. But it is a step by step process.” How do they get the players one may ask? Where that is why the dynamic between Choco and Oscar works wonders. Since Choco used to be a professional player, he was able to amass many contacts from his playing days. “Even when I played soccer I will tell other players that whenever my soccer career ended, I would set up a soccer company that would be urban, hip, fresh and something different.” Oscar on the other hand is bona fide business man, with established companies in Los Angeles and Nevada, and a BA and an MA from Long Beach and London, UK, respectively. His exposure and experience in business has allowed Crack FC to grown at a much faster rate than the norm. When you meet Oscar and Choco immediately you will detect a difference in personalities. But the dichotomy works between, giving credence that they use their personal strengths intelligently and allocate them to Crack FC in an efficient manner that works. It appears that this will not be the last time we hear about Crack FC. It’s run like a start-up but it has the support of many professional soccer players; without a doubt a pretty strong formula. Perhaps one day the soccer apparel industry will no longer be monopolized by Nike, Adidas and the other big boys. Crack FC may be the new kid on the block that has no plans of being bullied or deterred from the other giants. Pero es un proceso paso por paso”. ¿Uno podría preguntarse cómo consiguen a los jugadores? Es ahí donde la dinámica entre Choco y Oscar funciona de maravilla. Como Choco solía ser un jugador profesional, fue capaz de acumular muchos contactos de sus días de jugador. “Incluso cuando jugaba soccer le dije a otros jugadores que cuando fuera que mi carrera de soccer terminara, montaría una compañía de soccer que fuera urbana, hip, fresca y con algo diferente”. Oscar por el otro lado es un legítimo hombre de negocios, con compañías establecidas en Los Ángeles y Nevada, un BA y un MA de Long Beach y Londres, Reino Unido, respectivamente. Su orientación y experiencia en negocios ha permitido a Crack FC crecer a un rango mucho más rápido que la norma. Cuando conoces a Oscar y Choco inmediatamente detectarás la diferencia en personalidades. Pero la dicotomía funciona entre, dar crédito a que ellos usan sus fortalezas personales inteligentemente y asignarles a Crack FC en una manera eficiente que funcione. Parece que esta no será la última vez que escuchemos acerca de Crack FC. Funciona como un inicial pero tiene el apoyo de muchos jugadores de soccer profesionales; sin ninguna duda una fórmula bastante fuerte. Tal vez un día la industria de ropa de soccer no será más monopolizada por Nike, Adidas y los otros grandes. Crack FC puede ser el niño nuevo en el edificio que no tiene planes de ser molestado o desalentado por los otros gigantes. The soccer highest body disclosed the list through his website, a day before the “Tricolor” had expected, leaving them with no option but formalize the information given beforehand. The Mexican Football Federation wished to publish the lineup this day, a day after the duel against Honduras. In the list given by Juan Carlos Osorio, is predominated by “European” players with 13 spots, an element from MLS and the rest form Liga MX.

The 49ers are now in the middle of OTA’s, or Organized Team Activities sessions. This is as exactly as it sounds. The offense team will have a daily agenda of first trying to learn Kyle Shanahan’s difficult playbook. That will be followed by awkwardly going through the motions out on the field of one of the most complicated offensive systems in the NFL. The 49ers defense will do likewise under Robert Saleh who is also taking the 49ers through a whole new defense that will take the 49ers some time to perfect. All this activity is taking place while the 49ers are still ninety players in total. The number will drop after the preseason games in early August to a final fifty three. Thirty seven players who will have worked their heart out will be dismissed for just not being the best of the best. The combination of both pressures to learn a new system, and perform to a satisfactory level for the coaching staff is mind boggling. This is that time of the season when Darwin’s theory of the “survival of the fittest” is on full display. The competition to be a 49er is raging! Every mistake you make could send a message to the coaching staff that you are one of the weak. There is no sympathy. Your time is here, and now. This daily grind is also a way for the coaches to get a measure of how a player performs under pressure. The NFL is nothing but pres-sure from September to Super Bowl Sunday! Head coach Kyle Shanahan in his introduction to his new team as head coach was quoted telling the players to “get comfortable with the feeling of being uncomfortable”. The life of a warrior means the only peace you’ll have is when you’re asleep. Every positional group has an abundance of talent that only a chosen few from each group of course will survive the cut. One of the biggest, somewhat surprising competitions, everyone is keeping an eye on are the running backs. Carlos Hyde, who is in his fourth year as a pro is dealing with extremely heavy competition from the 49ers 4th round draft pick, running back Joe Williams. If that wasn’t bad enough for Carlos, out of nowhere comes an undrafted free agent from Georgia Southern university who is adding as much pressure on Carlos as is Williams. The problem is rooted in the fact that Kyle Shanahan’s offense is much different than what Carlos is expert at. There are two other veteran running backs of whom Carlos will also have to compete with. It isn’t for certain, but predicted by some that only four running backs will make the 49ers roster. Right now they have six, and it is questionable as to who are the top four. We’ll soon find out…

The matchup between the potential top two picks in the June 22 draft was announced today as the game and broadcast schedules for NBA Summer League 2017 were unveiled. The 11-day, 67-game competition tips offs with a tripleheader on NBA TV on Friday, July 7 and continues through Monday, July 17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
