Welcome to Camp! Take a look at what we did today
Announcements: The Week At A Glance
Welcome to High School Start Up! We started off the day by having everyone introduce themselves and share why they attended this camp. This was a way to have everyone get to know each other and define their interest in entrepreneurship. We then jumped into the course overview of design, define, and launch. After discussing the outline of the course, we talked about what entrepreneurship is and how to use creativity to build new products and businesses. Everyone participated in a brainstorming exercise where they thought of all the problems they currently have and solutions to solve those issues. We gave students five minutes to come up with as many new inventions as possible. After, everyone did the same activity in groups. This brought the students together and made them comfortable expressing ideas in front of each other. Students learned about the law of 1 percent: for every 100 ideas, one of them will be great. This is why it is important to come up with as many ideas as possible. After learning about the law of 1%, students got together in groups and picked the top 2-3 ideas they thought were great. We closed off the day by having the students pitch their groups’ ideas and voted on the top ones they would pursue until Wednesday. This was a great first day that allowed the students to dip their feet into entrepreneurship.
