Welcome to Camp! Take a look at what we did today We started off the day by learning about markets. A market is a niche or target audience where an entrepreneur sells their product! This lecture provided students with information of how to determine what or who they’re key market is. Each team developed a hypothesis of who their main customers would be. They were then put to the test by going out and talking to people to see who were most interested in their product. after getting a sampling of potential customers, students compared what their expectations originally were to their interview outcomes. This activity was fun for students because they got to go out into the real world and get feedback on their awesome ideas. Afterwards they had a chance to go back to their original idea and change features of their product based on how customers reacted. For the afternoon, students worked together to refine their presentations for pitch day and even gave a full practice pitch today. The pitch was five minutes and had a seven minute questioning period. This gave everyone a feel for what tomorrow would bring. Practicing pitching is very important and we will provide students with an opportunity to practice their pitches everyday!
Continue Learning: Questions to ask about today Market research helps refine an idea: What kind of market did you originally envision? What market do you intend to focus on? What kind of people did you get market research from? Was their feedback useful? Why? Did you focus on one demographic or did you get a variety of interviewees? Were people receptive to your market reasearch?
