Welcome to Camp! Take a look at what we did today

Announcements: The Week At A Glance

Today we started off with a beach ball icebreaker game. This activity was a fun, energetic way to begin the day before we jumped into the core of entrepreneurship. We introduced the Venture Canvas. This tool helps teams map out ideas to see what it would take to make them a reality. Using these tools, students determined their key business partners, their revenue streams, and what there are uniquely bringing to the market! This activity really inspired creativity and teamwork. When determining their key business partners, students were able to figure out other businesses their company could partner with. Everyone was excited about potentially working with their favorite companies to further their own startup idea! Revenue streams are a crucial part of any business and having the students learn about the different channels necessary to have the revenue they had in mind was a great exercise. Figuring out what made each company’s idea unique challenged the students to think about what they can do that is different from any other existing solution. Some students learned that iterations of their idea already exist on the market; however, this was a great opportunity for students to improve on their idea to differentiate it. Overall, students learned some important lessons as they furthered their venture ideas!. At times students ran into the problem that several iterations of their idea already existed; however, this only helped the students learn about their competitors and how they can improve. Overall this was a great day that helped all students further their entrepreneurship ventures.

Continue Learning: Questions to ask about today Writing out a plan is the best place to start: What is a Venture Canvas? What are your ideal key partners? What are you main revenue streams? Was it difficult to find revenue streams? Did you have arguments workings with your team? What are you uniquely bringing to the market?

From the blog: Our newest posts include “3 Tips for Successful Brainstorming” Wednesday 6/17: Theme day! Dress up for twin day! Thursday 6/18: Get ready to find your market tomorrow and start working on market research! Friday 6/19: Learn about making your product unique!

Trivia Tuesday: Ben And Jerry's ice cream Did you know that Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield (the masterminds behind the ice cream brand) didn’t originally plan on creating an ice cream business? Their plan started as a bagel delivery service, but when they realized the startup costs would be too high they pivoted ideas. After taking a $5 ice-cream making course through Pennsylvania State University the duo started creating what is now one of the leading ice cream companies in the United States. Big ideas do not need big money behind them. As long as your students have the passion and an entrepreneurial mindset they can go as far as they want. Who knows, they might become the creators of the next big thing!
