Welcome to Camp! Take a look at what we did today

Announcements: The Week At A Glance

Today we began with the cup challenge! This activity involves taking six stacked cups, and using only string to arrange them in a pyramid. This is a true test of teamwork and really encourages communication within a group. Our teams loved it, and had a great time working together to solve the problem. Then we hopped into today’s main task. Our customer requested the teams to construct a cute, yet functional “pet.” There was a catch, though – the customer is very busy and doesn’t have a whole lot of time to take care of this pet, so the pet would need to be pretty self sufficient. Everyone got right on the task enthusiastically because they all love their own pets and wanted the customer to feel the same way about they one they’re building. The teams all worked really hard and were well on their way to building a great pet - all of a sudden, the customer requested the pet to also be able to keep up with them. This meant that the pet needed to be quick on their feet and very fast. The customer decided the best way to ensure speed was to have everyone build their pets and then have them all race. This was a really fun competition and everyone enjoyed presenting the construction of their pets! This was also a chance for students to show off their creativity when designing and building the final product!

Continue Learning: Questions to ask about today Build, test - build again! Tell me about the challenge today. What did your team decide to build? How did you decide on that pet? How did you make it self-sufficient? What did it look like? Did you name it? What was your pet made of? Was it difficult to make it functional? How fast was your pet? How did you make your pet move quickly?
