STEAM and Other Academic Programming
Last Academic Year, Veritas opened up the Design Thinking Lab. This year the same space will host the return of our STEAM Program. This academic program is part of the strategic initiatives which were outlined in Veritas’ 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. The STEAM Program was first instituted the beginning of the 2018 Academic Year but the program was placed on hiatus due to the global coronavirus pandemic as we made changes to our educational programming.
This year, we are thrilled to bring the STEAM Program back, and that Joy Jones will take the program to the next level. STEAM is available for Veritas students in first through eighth grades. Be on the lookout to hear all the exciting things your children will be involved in this year with the reintroduction of STEAM.
Fine arts is an essential component in the life of a Veritas student that various areas of the arts are incorporated directly into the weekly curricular program from visual arts, choir, band, and music and movement for our early learners. One of the premier programs that Veritas offers our students is the Veritas Conservatory of Music (VCM). This program provides students with an optional addition to their fine arts repertoire, having the ability to choose to learn the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, piano, or voice. The VCM offers students a combination of both private lessons and ensemble classes with professional musicians as their instructors. Students will have an intellectual understanding of the theoretical, historical, and stylistic aspects of musical practice, and relate each of those things to the vast literature of music which will provide our students with the highest level possible of technical and artistic achievement in performance.
