The day we went on a school tour Days may pass time may fly but I will never forget that day.It was on Friday 23 July 2020.My school organized a career guidence tour to Zengeza Primary school. On that day it was raining, the water ponds were sparkling and glowing, raindrops were falling making rythms, the morning was as beautiful as a groomed bride. We arrived at 8am on the venue,we were given refreshments after that we proceed to the assembly hall.Mr Chibwe the Principal gave a welcome speech. After a prayer from a Seke Primary student, speeches from the Workers Union representatives began. There were, doctors, nurses, engineers, pilots and many others. They were explaining how they work, subjects needed to obtain their employments, years needed to study and how they earn.Above all they expressed that hard work was needed inoder to achieve their jobs. It opened my eyes,I then decided that I want to be a Professor in Science.I chose this job because Iam good in science subjects.Everyone went back home with ideas on what they want to do when they grow up.The guest of honor was the Ambassador of the United States of America ,he also promised us that if we pass he will give us scholarships to learn in America. I learned a lot from this tour,I now know that if you want to achieve something in life you must work hard ,this tour left a mark in the history of my life. HEALTH
Fibroids By Dr A Jemedze
during their lives. More than 70% of women will have fibroids by the age of 50. But you might not know you have uterine fibroids because they often cause no symptoms. Your doctor may discover fibroids incidentally during a pelvic exam or prenatal ultrasound.
Where are fibroids located? There are three major types of uterine fibroids. Intramural fibroids grow within the
What are fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during child bearing years (reproductive years). Also called leiomyomas or myomas, uterine fibroids aren’t associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer and almost never develop into cancer. Rarely (less than one in 1,000) a cancerous fibroid will occur. What exactly are fibroids? Imagine a brick wall made of bricks joined together to form the wall. If one brick multiplies to form a mass of bricks it becomes a fibroid this is how fibroids form in the uterine when a single cell of the uterine wall multiplies to form ball of cells forming a fibroid. Fibroids range in size from, undetectable by the human eye, to bulky masses that can distort and enlarge the uterus. You can have a single fibroid or multiple ones. In extreme cases, multiple fibroids can expand the uterus so much that it reaches the rib cage and can add weight. Many women have uterine fibroids sometime www.viciouscollections.co.zw
muscular uterine wall. Submucosal fibroids bulge into the uterine cavity. Subserosal fibroids project to the outside of the uterus. Some submucosal or subserosal fibroids may be pedunculated — hanging from a stalk inside or outside the uterus.
What are the symptoms of fibroids?
Many women who have fibroids don’t have any symptoms. In those that do, symptoms can be influenced by the location, size and number of fibroids. For women who have symptoms, the most common signs and symptoms of uterine fibroids include: • Heavy menstrual bleeding • Menstrual periods lasting more than a week
35
VICIOUS COLLECTIONS MAGAZINE | Issue 04
• Pelvic pressure or pain • Frequent urination • Difficulty emptying the bladder • Constipation • Backache or leg pains Rarely, a fibroid can cause acute pain when it outgrows its blood supply, and begins to die. Also, during pregnancy, the fibroids may become painful. When to see a doctor? See your doctor if you have: • Pelvic pain that doesn’t go away • Overly heavy, prolonged or painful periods • Spotting or bleeding between periods • Difficulty emptying your bladder • Unexplained low red blood cell count (anaemia) Seek prompt medical care if you have severe vaginal bleeding or sharp pelvic pain that comes on suddenly. Who is at risk of developing fibroids? There are few known risk factors for uterine fibroids, other than being a woman of reproductive age. Factors that can have an impact on fibroid development include: • Race. Black women are more likely to have fibroids than are women of other racial groups and at younger age, and they’re also likely to have more or larger fibroids, along with more-severe symptoms. • Heredity. If your mother or sister had fibroids, you’re at increased risk of developing them. • Other factors. Onset of menstruation at an early age; obesity; a vitamin D deficiency; having a diet higher in red meat and lower in green vegetables, fruit and dairy; and drinking alcohol, including beer, appear to increase your risk of developing fibroids. So, what causes fibroids? Doctors don’t know the cause of uterine fiwww.viciouscollections.co.zw
broids, but research and clinical experience point to these factors: • Genetic changes. Many fibroids contain changes in genes that differ from those in normal uterine muscle cells. • Hormones. Oestrogen and progesterone, two hormones that stimulate development of the uterine lining during each menstrual cycle in preparation for pregnancy, appear to promote the growth of fibroids. Fibroids contain more oestrogen and progesterone receptors than normal uterine muscle cells do. Fibroids tend to shrink after menopause due to a decrease in hormone production. • Other growth factors. Substances that help the body maintain tissues, such as insulin-like growth factor, may affect fibroid growth. • Extracellular matrix (ECM). ECM is the material that makes cells stick together, like mortar between bricks. ECM is increased in fibroids and makes them fibrous. ECM also stores growth factors and causes biologic changes in the cells themselves.
What is the effect of fibroids on pregnancy? Fibroids usually don’t interfere with getting pregnant. However, it’s possible that fibroids especially submucosal fibroids could cause infertility or pregnancy loss. Fibroids may also raise the risk of certain pregnancy complications, such as placental abruption, fetal growth restriction and preterm delivery.
Is there prevention for fibroids? Although researchers continue to study the causes of fibroid tumours, little scientific evidence is available on how to prevent them. Preventing uterine fibroids may not be pos-
36
VICIOUS COLLECTIONS MAGAZINE | Issue 04
sible, but only a small percentage of these tumours require treatment. But, by making healthy lifestyle choices, such as maintaining a normal weight and eating fruits and vegetables, you may be able to decrease your fibroid risk. Also, some research suggests that using hormonal contraceptives may be associated with a lower risk of fibroids.
How are fibroids diagnosed? Uterine fibroids are frequently found incidentally during a routine pelvic exam. Your doctor may feel irregularities in the shape of your uterus, suggesting the presence of fibroids. If you have symptoms of uterine fibroids, your doctor may order these tests: • Ultrasound. If confirmation is needed, your doctor may order an ultrasound. It uses sound waves to get a picture of your uterus to confirm the diagnosis and to map and measure fibroids. • Lab tests. If you have abnormal menstrual bleeding, your doctor may order other tests to investigate potential causes. These might include a full blood count (FBC) to determine if you have anaemia because of chronic blood loss and other blood tests to rule out bleeding disorders or thyroid problems.
What are the treatment options?
There’s no one best approach to uterine fibroid treatment — many treatment options exist. If you have symptoms, talk with your doctor about options for symptom relief. Waiting can be an option Many women with uterine fibroids experience no signs or symptoms, or only mildly annoying signs and symptoms that they can live with. If that’s the case for you, watchful waiting could be the best option.
www.viciouscollections.co.zw
Fibroids aren’t cancerous. They rarely interfere with pregnancy. They usually grow slowly — or not at all — and tend to shrink after menopause, when levels of reproductive hormones drop.
Medications Medications for uterine fibroids target hormones that regulate your menstrual cycle, treating symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pressure. They don’t eliminate fibroids, but may shrink them. Medications include:
•
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone
(GnRH) agonists. Medications called GnRH agonists treat fibroids by blocking the production of oestrogen and progesterone, putting you into a temporary menopause-like state.
• Progestin-releasing intrauterine device (IUD). A progestin-releasing IUD
can relieve heavy bleeding caused by fibroids. • Tranexamic acid (Cyclokapron). This nonhormonal medication is taken to ease heavy menstrual periods. It’s taken only on heavy bleeding days.
Options for traditional surgical procedures include:
• Abdominal myomectomy. If you have multiple fibroids, very large fibroids or very deep fibroids, your doctor may use an open abdominal surgical procedure to remove the fibroids. Many women who are told that hysterectomy is their only option can have an abdominal myomectomy instead. However, scarring after surgery can affect future fertility. • Hysterectomy. This surgery — the removal of the uterus — remains the only proven permanent solution for uterine fibroids. But hysterectomy is major surgery.

DEPRESSION
Symptoms must last at least two weeks for a diagonosis of depression. Also, medical conditions ( e.h brain tumor or vitamin deficiency) Depression affects an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) in any given year, and one in 6 people (16.6%) will experience depression at some time in their life. Depression can strike at anytime, but on average, first appears during the late teens to mid-20s. Women are more likely than men experience depression. Some studies show that one- third of women will experience a major depressive episode in their lifetime.
(major depressive disorder)
Definition Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work, home and anyway. Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include: •Feeling sad or having a depressed mood. •Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed. •Changes in appetite leading to weight loss or gain. •Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much. •Loss of energy or increased fatigue. •Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g hand-wringing or pacing) www.viciouscollections.co.zw

Depression is different from sadness or grief or bereavement The death of a loved one, loss of job or the ending of a relationship are difficult experiences for a person to endure. It is normal for feelings of sadness or grief to develop in response to such situations. Those experiencing loss often describe themselves as “depressed”. But being sad is not the same as having depression. The grieving process is natural and unique to each individual and shares some of the same features of depression. Both grief and depression may involve intense sadness and withdrawal from usual activities. They are also different in important ways.
and self loathing are common. • For some people the death of a loved one can bring a major depression. Losing a job or being a victim of physical assault or a major disaster can lead to depression for some people. When grief and depression co-ecist, the grief is more severe and lasts longer than grief without depression. Despite some overlap between grief and depression, they are different. Distinguishing between them can help people get the help, support or treatment they need.
Risk Factors for Depression Depression can affect anyone, even a person who appears to live in relatively ideal circumstances. Several factors can play a role in depression:
Biochemistry
Differences in certain chemicals in the brain may contribute to symptoms of depression.
Genetics Depression can run in families. For example, if one identical twin has depression, the other has 70% chance of having the illness sometime in life.
•In grief, painful feelings come in waves, often intermixed and positive memories of the deceased. In major depression, mood and interest (pleasure) are decreased for most of two weeks. • In grief, self esteem is usually maintained. In major depression, feelings of worthless www.viciouscollections.co.zw
Personality People with low self-esteem, who are easily overwhelmed by stress, or who are generally pessimistic appear to be more likely to experience depression. Environmental Factors Continual exposure to violence, neglect, abuse or poverty may make some people

more vulnerable to depression.
How is Depression Treated? Depression is among the most treatable of mental disoders,. Between 80% and 90% of people with depression eventually respond well to treatment. Almost all patients gain some relief from their symptoms. Before a diagnosis or treatment, a health professional should conduct a thorough diagnostic evaluation, including an interview and possibly a physical examination.
Psychotherapy (talk therapy) Is sometimes used alone for treatment of mild depression, for moderate to severe depression, psychotherapy is often used in along with antidepressants medications. Cognitive behavior therapy(CBT) has been found to be effective in treating depression. CBT is a form of therapy focused on the present and problem solving. CBT helps a person to recognize distorted thinking and then change behaviours and thinking.
In some cases, a blood test might be done to make sure the depression is not due to a medical condition like a thyroid problem. The evaluation is to identify specific symptoms, medical and family history, cultural factors and environmental factors to arrive at a diagnosis and plan a course of action.
Psychotherapy may involve only the individual, but it can include others. For example, family or couples therapy can help address issues within these close relationships. Group therapy involves people with similar illnesses. Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Is a medical treatment most commonly used for patients with severe major depression or bipolar disorder who have not responded to other treatments. It involves a brief electrical stimulation of the brain while the patient is under anesthesia.
Medication Brain chemistry may contribute to an individual’s depression and may factor into their treatment. For this reason antidepressants might be prescribed to help modify one’s brain chemistry. These medications are not sedatives, “uppers” or tranquilizers. They are not habit-forming. Generally antidepressant medications have no stimulating effect on people not experiencing depression.
A patient typically received ECT two to three times a week for a total of six to 12 treatments. ECT has been used since the 1940s, and many years of research have led to major improvements. It is usually managed by a team of trained medical professionals including a psychiatrist, an anesthesiologist and a nurse or physician assistant.
Full benefits of antidepressants may not be seen for two to three months. Psychiatrists usually recommend patients to continue takwww.viciouscollections.co.zw

GOSPEL WORLD
Philippians 3 verse 12- 13 Running towards the Goal Philippians 3 verse 12 “I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize”. verse 13 “My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead”
clean start! No scientist in the world can do this! Closing of the old chapter does not mean forgetting the past troubles and mistakes but also encompasses the end of our past troubles spiritually, physically and mentally. The devil played devil played havoc in our lives for too long but the Almighty God is changing that today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The doors to your past life is closed today, forget about it as the Lord renews your life to that of a youth. The past is gone and all is new (2 Corinthians 5 v 17-18) The Lord wants to do a new thing in our lives. We should be willing to forget the past and get ready to enter into the future that the Lord has prepared for us. We should put the past failures and disappointments and sorrows behind us. This is a new day, a new week, a new month , a new year and a new opportunity that the Lord is giving us. We must make use of the opportunity and be willing to experience new changes in our lives even though they may be unfamiliar to us. Successful people maintain a positive focus on life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past suc-
We are living in an age where everyone is looking to their past to explain their problems or to excuse their behavior in the present. While we have made it a science digging into the past to understand ourselves, only Jesus Christ can heal that past and get us living in the future with a new life. While the world emphasizes looking backward, Christ emphasizes looking forward! We are now new creatures, the old has passed away and new creatures in Christ with a whole new www.viciouscollections.co.zw

cesses rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfilment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them. The first recipe for happiness is to avoid too lengthy meditation on the past. Gratitude makes sense for our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. One of the best ways to make yourself happy in the present is to recall, happy times from the past. ALL EVILL DOORS ARE CLOSING TODAY!! Do you have a past which is affecting your present? Each time you look at your past do you sometimes wish life could be rewinded so that you could correct your mistakes? Do you really wish if you were to be taken back into the past lane then your present could be better than what it is? What is it that happened in the past of your life that keeps nagging your mind which you wish could be erased from your past? How much have you tried to forget your past and failed? How often have you tried to forgive and your past enemies and offenders but failed? Do you have bitterness still tied to your fragile heart because of what someone did to you? Do you sometimes feel that even if you find your enemy in the claws of a lion , given a chance you would add salt for the lion to enjoy? On the other hand, there is something called devil or Satan that has made greatest damage to your life and a look at your past might seem like someone was after your life but in actual fact it has been the evil spirits. www.viciouscollections.co.zw
Many people’s present lives have a past which keeps on following them and no matter how much physical effort they put , the situation does not change. If there is any situation in your life which you have tried physically or mentally to change but keeps on failing, know that it is a result of a spiritual attacks- whatever is beyond your effort is spiritually motivated. Whatever you have tried to do in emulation of others but have failed, know that it is a result of spiritual attacks. Today say this “ Enough is Enough! The devil’s time must expire today ! My plane of life must take off and take me to my mandated destiny! You devil, you are a liar! To operate in new levels of favour, we must forget our past. learn to forgive others and ourselves. God saved you, cleansed you for your sons and made you white as snow by the washing of his blood. Make a change today by forgetting your past. The past holds you back from what God has for you, it placed shackles on you, it weighs you down, stresses you out and depletes your energy. Break free today from your past. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. God has plans to prosper you, let go of your past! Walk in the strength of the word of God today. You can’t really know God if you keep holding to your past! ALL EVIL DOORS ARE CLOSING TODAY AND NEW ANOINTED ONES ARE OPENING FOR YOU NOW! We give all GLORY TO GOD. Mbiri kuna Jesu
