Smart window produces energy from rain and wind.

The next generation of smart windows that would produce energy will not only take advantage of solar energy, as we know today, but also rain and strong wind. Smart glass which change their properties to prevent solar radiation or heat is an established technology for decades. However, their cost is high and the potential for electricity generation rather problematic. Often the integration of photovoltaic panels in windows blur or darken some parts of the pane.

-The New technology The new glazing using nano-sized generators that exploit trivoilektrismo, that static electricity generated by friction between two materials. The nanogennitries located on two transparent layers glued to a glass sheet. When activated, they produce electricity that stains the glass dark blue. The first, outer layer collects static energy of the rain drops. When a raindrop falls from the sky carrying a positive charge due to the friction of the water with air. When in contact with the first layer of the glass, having a coating nanopyramidikon structures made of negatively charged particles of a compound of silicon, generates electricity. The second layer of the smart window utilizes the kinetic energy of the wind. It consists of two transparent, charged laminates, between which there are tiny springs. As the wind pushes the window, the springs are compressed and generate current. -The experiments In laboratory tests, the experimental device produces up to 130 milliwatts of electrical power per square meter, enough energy to power a mobile phone in standby mode. The downside of the technology is that it does not store the energy it produces. Primus 322 is a complete waterjet cutting system with a working area of 3210x2000 mm and equipped with two cutting heads (one 3-axes and one 5axes). The machine can also perform inclined cuts, bevel edges and countersinks. The patented infinitive rotating C axis allows seamless execution of the most complex cutting schemes. Besides, the machine can also execute two identical pieces at the same time. DOUBLE EDGERS The double edgers line will be represented at Glasstec by a flat edge stand-alone Busetti F Series. These machines have been received by the market with great enthusiasm. The high level of automation and the PC-based numerical control, represent a functional and easy-to-use solution for companies that need to reach higher levels of productivity. The large growth in the Emirates, in the last three decades, has placed a significant demand on the Health System in the GCC. NAVIGATION HEALTH RESORT The heart of the resort forms a medical complex that fully integrates a Health Sciences Campus and a General Hospital within a uniquely developed environment (1,2). HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL UNIVERSITY COMPLEX The complex is comprised by two interconnected rings of buildings having a total of 278.400 sq. m. The core of each ring has an air-conditioned open space of 5.500 sq. m. which is covered with an innovative glass roof, providing ideal climate conditions. Thus patients, doctors and students circulate comfortably, increasing their performance. The interior of the complex incorporates seven additional patios, which together with the two enclosed large cores, will provide spaces for a variety of restaurants, cafeterias and shops, surrounded with lush gardens and water foun-

Costas Varotsos.

Costas Varotsos was born in Athens in 1955. He studied painting at the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome and architecture at the Arte Scuola di Architettura Pescara, while the period 1990-’91 he was in New York with Full Bright Scholarship. He was elected professor of the Aristotle University in 1999 and teaches Visual Arts in Architecture School. He represented Greece at the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1987 and at the Venice Biennale in 1999.He took part at the Venice Biennale in the Italian Pavilion twice in 1992 and 1995 and the International Biennale of Los Angeles in 1999.HE has taken part at exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His works are in public places in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, USA and Switzerland.He has taken the Street Trend award prize 2004/2005, for his work “Untitled” 2001 “in Switzerland and prize for the best sculpture of the Year in Review 2004 for his work Interconnecting bottles in Palm Beach, Florida USA. In 2007 he received the sculpture prize Segno d ‘Oro for the overall artistic offer in Italy and has received an award from the President of the Italian Republic. The large project “Horizon II” is located in the plains entrance of the University of Salerno, Italy. The project materials are iron and glass and its dimensions are 34CH9 measures.

The Costa Varotsos project is a corrugated steel tape, thin and curved glass filled .Lines feel the glass curves touching the ground, like water filling a container.

The water is a clear reference to the land from which each tree draws nourishment. The water symbolizes the “spiritual food” and reaches the same height as the two curves that create, for the eye, a straight line: a horizon. Through another perspective the project has more than one horizons.

ostas Varotsos is one of the most important artists of contemporary art. With artistic interventions around the world, Varotsos has created a significant number of projects in Italy, among others, the monumental intervention Mountain La Morgia in abruzzo, the stone Poet in Casacalenda forest, glass horizon for outdoor Fresco report Bosco in Padula (curated by Achille Bonito Oliva), sculpture for Benefica square in Turin, and Paesagio con surgery Rovine city of Gibellina, a composition derived from remnants of the city after a devastating earthquake. Even in the US, 35 meters horizon on the face of the skyscraper of art hotel Murano in Seattle and Interconnecting bottles work in front of the City Hall of Palm Beach.
