wning an Orange County home has become more affordable than ever, and buyers are taking note. Recent weeks have seen a significant rise in home sales which is expected to continue throughout the year, driven in part by the first-time buyer tax credit and other provisions of the housing stimulus bill. The National Association of Realtors ® (NAR) sug gests that the tax credit may lead to more than 2 million home sales between now and the middle of next year1. As the dream of homeownership becomes an attainable reality for more and more Americans, many are looking to Orange County. Demand for local homes has more than doubled in the past year. A shrinking inventory and drastically shorter market time (down more than 60% from a year ago) demonstrate that smart shoppers are indeed taking advantage of this buyer’s market2. The California Association of Realtors® confirmed this with their report that 43.4% more homes sold in the state during July than during the same month last year. Maybe you’ve always dreamed of owning your own Orange County home, or maybe you are looking for a vacation home or investment property. Whatever your situation, the fact is clear that there has never been a better time to buy. As NAR President Richard F. Gaylord recently said, “Buyers who’ve been on the sidelines should take a closer look at what’s available to them now in terms of financing and incentives.3” While you’re at it, why not take another look at some of the many fine homes available for sale here in Orange County?
