A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through July! What an amazing Summer so far. We are seeing a record number of members attending events, dining at the grill, golfing, playing tennis, visiting the pool and enjoying all the Club has to offer. What a great feeling it is to be out on the golf course in Mid-July and still see lush green fairways and healthy, fast moving greens. Ethan and his team are working very hard to maintain the health and playability of the course throughout these humid Summer months. We are very lucky to have such a great grounds crew with a knowledgeable leader like Nash! Oh, sorry … I mean Ethan Johnson. Activity at the pool is also at an all-time high. Snack Bar and Pool Bar sales are way up, more member children are taking swimming lessons as well. Because of the high demand for pool space on the weekends, we have decided to limit lane swimming to 9am-11am and then after 4pm. This will allow plenty of time for lane swimming as well as free up more pool space during peak weekend hours. If you have noticed yourself head bobbing or toe tapping more often while on the pool deck, you can thank one of newest pool members, Kyle Savage for creating a great poolside playlist for the Club. In addition to some great music we have also added poolside drink service on the weekends. Finally, if you haven’t heard yet, we will be commemorating the Clubs 25th Anniversary with a Fireworks Show on Monday, September 2nd. It is going to be a great event for all ages. Be sure to clear your calendars for the Labor Day Monday evening. This is an event you will not want to miss. We will send out more info in the upcoming weeks. See you at the Club! Dana Cancellaro, CCM 3

Golf News It’s been an amazing Summer for golf so far at the VCSP! We have had record numbers on almost all of our events. • Over 150 kids participated in our Junior Golf programs. • Our Women’s and Men’s Member Guest were fully subscribed, and fun was had by all. • Our Nine and Dine had 64 participants which was a record. • Our Thursday Night Men’s League has over 50 people playing every Thursday. • The Babe Charity Tournament was a huge success with 80 people playing and over $30,000 raised for the American Cancer Society. Thanks for all your support of these events! Hope to see you all on the Golf Course soon!!

The babe As much as this is a great accomplishment for our club, it is also a superb reflection of what can be done when our members and their guests get together to do good and pay it forward. We are still tallying everything up, but it looks like we will be very close to breaking $30,000 this year! Most importantly, we would like to thank you for being a part of a record-breaking success of fundraising on behalf of the American Cancer Society. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather and all of the fun and festivities of the day. Thank you for participating in the 2019 Babes Against Cancer Golf Tournament at the Village Club of Sands Point. With gratitude, Karl Obermeyer and The Babes Against Cancer Committee Click on the picture link to the right for a video of the day! 5

Golf Course Update A Note from the superintendent What a difference a year can make. The golf course is happy and healthy and fairing well in this stressful summer heat. Over the last month I have spoken to many of you through email or face to face on the course about the conditions of the golf course. The most common comments is that the voids in the greens have filled in and are rolling more true. The primary focus of this season is on the overall health of the turf. Once we make it through the heat of the summer, we will begin to tackle some of the many projects around the course. We have lots of new toys down at the maintenance area that have helped tremendously in preparing the golf course on a daily basis and will play a big role in helping us make improvements this fall. We really look forward to continue to clean up these native areas and other areas that have not been maintained over the last few seasons. Ethan Johnson Superintendent

Racquet Sports Update . A Note from the Interim Director As we find ourselves at the halfway point of summer, the tennis activity on and off the courts has been eventful. Looking forward to the last half of summer, there is still plenty of opportunities to come down to the courts.

Adult Tennis Weekend Doubles Pools- Still the main game here at the Tennis Courts! Every Saturday and Sunday Morning. This is a great way for new members to meet people and get a tennis game. Men’s Doubles Saturday and Sunday from 830-10. Ladies Doubles Pool every Sunday from 10-11:30.

Club Championship Tournament Matches You may not be playing in this summer’s tournament, but as we head deep into the VCSP Club Championships there will be plenty of great matches to watch.

Challenge Ladders We are running 5 different challenge ladders this summer. Mens Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles. This is a fantastic way to compete with your fellow club members and socialize at the same time. Players can challenge two spaces above them as they try and advance their way to the top of the ladder. Sign up anytime.

Junior Tennis Swing and Swim- for kids aged 5-8 years old, they play 1 hour of tennis followed by 1 hour of supervised swimming and lunch! A great way to keep your little tennis player active and busy this summer. Sundays 10-12pm

Racquet Sports Update .

Pickleball

If you are looking for some great exercise for your mind and body, pickleball can’t be beat. Playing Pickleball allows you to work on your balance, agility, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination without putting excessive strains on your body. Pickleball is a wonderful alternative for older players who used to play a racquets sport, but have physical limitations such as hip, shoulder, knee, or other joint problems. Pickleball also gives your heart a healthy workout and reduces stress. See you on the courts! Jonathan Klampe Interim Director of Tennis Ben Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. This is true for learning the science behind hitting the yellow ball too! The outstanding coaching team at VCSP is ready to help you improve your game.

FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE The summer heat is finally up on us and with that, loads of activity, lots of food and beverages being served around the club! With the addition of our newest members, and lots more member events, the Club has been setting club usage record numbers all around. At the Grille, I’m sure you have seen a couple of new friendly faces out there. We have added some new employees to complement our fantastic and experienced senior Grille attendants. F&B at the pool, as expected with the heat, very busy. The bar at the pool continues to be very popular, we are serving tremendous amounts of beverages. It was a fantastic day at the pool on the 4th of July, it was perhaps the busiest day at the pool in its history. We are looking forward to a very active summer and cordially invite you to visit us at your club. Please help us by making your reservations for all areas and events as early as possible. Ben Barragan Assistant General Manager

events Summer is in full swing here at the club, and our calendar is packed with events for all age groups! The club is still buzzing with positive feedback from our “Taste of Summer” Event. It was a great party with over 270 members and friends in attendance. Our next member party “Havana Nights” will take place on July 27th, we have a great menu planned along with live entertainment. We are excited to offer “Thirsty Thursdays” at the pool this season! The events will start at 6:30pm and be accompanied with a theme, along with an extended pool menu and additions from the grille. Keep an eye on the social emails, we have a great line up of events throughout the rest of the year! – Ashley Romanelli, F+B Director 10

FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE Chef’s corner Our garden here at the VCSP is currently producing many of the fresh herbs we use throughout all of our kitchens. We have already harvested some very large zucchini that are being used for our Zucchini Linguini dish served at the Grille. The 8 variety of tomatoes we planted are beginning to vine ripen and will be picked when ready, the smaller grape and cherry tomatoes are ripening daily will be used in salads at the Mansion and Grille. It is nice to have daily access to fresh organic herbs and produce, as I just returned with a load of fresh mint that will be used for Mojitos at the Grille and Pool Bar. Bon Appetit, Chef Jack
