A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
W
e are so close to Summertime, I can almost smell the Chicken Fingers frying away at the Snack Bar!
Less than 10 days until the pool opens for the season and Memorial Day Weekend is here! During the off season we were able to add 40+ lounge chairs at the pool. Our Superintendent, Ethan Johnson and his team leveled out an area behind the diving board to expand seating at the pool. This will allow us to accommodate more members on busy pool days. We have also added an additional parking area near the basketball court. There will be parking attendants out there on Memorial Day weekend to help guide cars into spaces and maximize the parking area for our busy opening weekend. This year we will also have a swimsuit dryer available outside of the pool locker rooms and a few retail items for sale at the check in desk, including swim goggles for the kids. We will be adding 2 towel bins to the lower pool deck for your convenience. Please remember throughout the busy pool season to remove your towel from your chair when you are leaving the pool area. There will be plenty of new additions to the Food & Beverage side of the pool as well. We will be hosting happy hour at the pool bar on select Friday and Saturday evenings. There will be a new drink menu available exclusively at the pool and a new and improved smoothie menu. The golf course is healthier than it has ever been and with buzz from Bethpage in the air it’s the perfect time to improve your golf game. Karl and his staff are available for lessons all season. Even if you are a non-golfing member you can take a lesson with one of our pro staff. Call or email Karl for more details. Be on the lookout for our new website, coming soon to a browser near you! Our new site comes with much more functionality and will help us get communications out to everyone about what’s happening at the club. If you don’t follow us on social media, please start. The Village Club Instagram is full of club updates and event pictures, including one of me and the Easter bunny. As always, my team and I are here for anything you need so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. See you at the Club! Dana Cancellaro, CCM General Manager

019 is the Village Club of Sands Point 25th anniversary year, and with that its only befitting that we have welcomed historic numbers of new members to the Village Club family this year. In April, we brought in 30 members in 30 days thanks to your referrals and the club’s marketing campaigns. On Sunday, April 7th we held our second Open House, which attracted over 275 potential members to enjoy our beautiful property. As a result, 17 Members joined the club that included 10 Golf members taking advantage of our “Discover Program”. I would like to thank all the Committee members and staff that assisted in the running of this event, and for all the patience and support from all our members. We continue to encourage you to help friends, colleagues and family “Discover the club” and take advantage of this great offer before it’s gone. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any assistance as you help to grow the club and its community. Referral credits are still available for any member you bring to the club. Golf course update
A
pril has been a busy month, and a wet one. We are working tirelessly to get caught up on all the rough that has sprung up over the last week. Our new equipment has started to show up and we have been using it regularly now. The greens, tees, approaches and fairways are cut much tighter this year. This has allowed for a more consistent cut, more ball roll and smoother playing conditions. We have almost wrapped up all of our winter and spring projects. The new 7th tee as well as the ladies 10th tee are now open for play. We have started to mow the new greens sod on the 16th green at the same height as the rest of the green and it is no longer off limits. Over the next couple of weeks, the condition of the turf will improve vastly and eventually blend in with the rest of the green. Ethan Johnson Superintendent

FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE
S
ummer is just around the corner; we are ready and excited to head into busiest time of the year.
At the Grille, although the weather hasn’t cooperated, we remained busy. Terrace Service has been limited because of it, but we are looking forward to warmer temps and a full terrace soon. We will be on a full summer schedule next week. We are very excited to start the new and improved Wednesday night BBQ program next week, Wednesday, May 22nd we will kick it off with the traditional BBQ. Keep your eyes peeled for updated locations. We will be hosting the BBQ at pool on certain weeks as well. Please remember that reservations at The Grille are crucial for proper accommodations and service. On the events side, we had a very busy and successful Easter brunch, serving over 300 members. Although the weather was more like mid-winter that day for our 3rd member event of the year, the “Spring Fling” was lots of fun. We hosted over 400 people for the Mother’s Day buffet on the 12th. We will serve our first wine dinner of the season, Rosé`s of Provence on May 18th, the first clambake of the season will be on the 24th and our traditional Memorial Day BBQ and rides on the 27th. Our fabulous staff has continued their training to improve the overall service of the club on both; the basics of private club casual service and enthusiasm. We cordially invite you to visit your club and join us for a summer full of activities, delicious food, great spirits, lots of smiles and warm weather. Looking forward to seeing you all around the club soon.
