Message from THE GENERAL MANAGER Happy September Everyone!! I can’t believe how fast Summer flew by. We had many great highlights from our amazing F&B events like ‘Taste of Summerâ€? at the Pool and Havana Nights, or our (once again) record breaking fundraising efforts in the Babes against Cancer Golf tournament. Not to mention our Summer finale and Fireworks Extravaganza, commemorating the Club’s 25th anniversary where members of all ages, zip codes and categories celebrated together for a truly extraordinary night. We want to keep that momentum going right through September. If you have not reserved a spot at our “Dueling Pianoâ€? Event on Saturday, September 21st call now. It is going to be a great night with live music, New Orleans inspired cuisine and unforgettable music. Don’t miss out! I wanted to take a moment to Welcome Back Liz Jaffe, Our Director of Racquets. We are very happy to see her face around the club again! Liz is busy gearing up for another great Platform season. You can reach her via email at lizjaffe@villageclub.org. She will be running some complimentary Platform Clinics throughout September. If you have not tried Platform Tennis, now is the time. Also, a very big THANK YOU to Johnathan Klampe, our interim Director of Racquets. Johnathan came in with little to no transition time and did an outstanding job. We were so very lucky to have found him and get to know him this Summer. That was a lot of racquets talk for a golf girl đ&#x;˜Š. Our Club Championship is this weekend! Good Luck everyone. Don’t forget Fall golf at the Village Club is some of the best around. The Golf committee has been working hard and prioritizing improvements to the course in conjunction with Ethan and his team. It will be a busy off season full of great enhancements for next year. Thank you all for your continued support and as always, my team and I are here to help in any way we can. Dana Cancellaro, CCM General Manager 3
Golf News 2019 has been a great year for golf at the VCSP so far. We had a record number of rounds for August this year!
HOLE IN ONE Congrats to our two latest Hole in Ones! Howard Lee on the 14th hole on August 7th and Kevin Graham had his 2nd hole in one this season on the 5th hole on September 1st.
PRESIDENTS CUP TOURNAMENT We had a record turnout for Men’s and Women’s President’s Cup Tournament. There were matches played throughout the season both individual and team events. The Women’s Individual Champ was Dineen Tallering. She defeated Riki Potter in the finals. The Women’s Team event was won by the team of Amy Goldin and Susan Lipkins. They bested Jackie Gross and Robbi Fox in the Finals. The Men’s Team matches are nearing their completion. Congrats to Aaron Bernthal for winning Flight II of Men’s Individual Presidents Cup. He won a close match versus Matt Engel. Flight I was won by Tony Chung. He defeated Sean Callahan in a very competitive Flight. Tony and Aaron will now play Sunday to see who the overall Champion is. Good Luck! September and October remain busy for golf events. Please pay close attention to the weekly golf emails to stay updated. We hope everyone plays a lot of golf this Fall! Come enjoy the best part of the year to play golf in the Northeast!! 4
Golf Course Update A Note from the superintendent I feel it’s safe to say that the summer heat is over, and we can start to look forward to some cooler weather. This also means we here at the grounds department can start tackling some projects that we don’t have time for during the busy summer months. We have already begun to slice seed the fairways and a handful of tees and will continue to do so until all the voids have filled in. We will also aerify tees and fairway spots on a smaller scale. This won’t affect playability of the course but will provide some much-needed relief for high stress areas. The native areas we have started to work on are cleaning up nicely. Each time we mow these areas and treat them for weeds, they come back stronger. It’s a long process but the end results will be well worth the effort and waiting. This fall we will be able to get more aggressive with some areas, especially on the 14th hole. It’s our goal next season to keep the weeds low and to promote more fescue to help the playability from the forward tees as well as the aesthetics of the hole.

FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE Chef’s corner As the summer season comes to an end, we look forward to the cooler weather as autumn arrives. The changing of the season will bring with it some new items on the Grille menu, incorporating what is harvested locally to create dishes that reflect this time of year. We will continue to cut fresh herbs from our garden boxes, finishing off what has been a good season for zucchini, peppers and a variety of tomatoes that were utilized in the Grille, Mansion and the Pool Café. The VCSP culinary team and I are very excited about the food choices for some of the upcoming events in September, and the Farm to Table Wine Dinner in October. We will continue to expand on our culinary journey, always striving to create a great dining experience. Bon appetite, Chef Jack 7
