Ella’s friend handed her a beautifully wrapped gift. “Thank you,” she mumbled quietly, feeling awkward. “What else am I supposed to do?” she wondered.
That evening, Ella sat by the lake, thinking about how to show her gratitude. “Maybe someone in the forest can help me,” she said as she stood up.
Ella stepped into Critter Village and found Postmaster Raccoon organizing letters. “Hello there!” he said cheerfully. “Can I help you with something?”
“I don’t know how to show people I’m thankful,” Ella admitted. Postmaster Raccoon smiled. “Gratitude is like mail— it’s all about sending the right message.”
Postmaster Raccoon gave Ella a card and a pen. “Start with something simple,” he said. “Write what you feel in your heart.”
Ella joined Postmaster Raccoon on his route, handing out thank-you notes to the critters. “Thank you for helping me!” one critter said, beaming.
Inspired, Ella made a special thank-you card for Postmaster Raccoon. “This is for you,” she said shyly. “Thank you for teaching me about gratitude.”
Postmaster Raccoon pinned Ella’s card on the wall. “Gratitude spreads happiness,” he said. “And it starts with small gestures like this.”
Ella returned to camp and wrote
thankyou notes for her counselors and friends. “This feels so good!” she said, smiling.
At the campfire, Ella gave out her notes. Her friends and counselors smiled. “Thank you,
Ella! This means a lot,”
they said.
That night, Ella thought about the people she could thank at home.
“There’s so much I’m grateful for,” she said, feeling happy.
