Welcome to Brite Star Golf Course! This is where our friend Jimmyloves to spend his time, especially when he’s learning from his dad, the head pro.

Jimmy’sdad starts withthe basics, “A golf set has 14clubs, each designed for different shots,” Dad explains. “Why do weneed so many?” Jimmy asks. “Every shot requires a different club depending on how far and how high you want the ball to go,” Dad answers.

On the practice range for the first real lesson, Jimmy’sdad explains, “Youare left-handed so you have to do everything the opposite of me because Iamrighthanded. Jimmytries to mirror his dad’s righthanded swing. “Dad, whydoes myswing look different than yours?” he inquires. “That’s because you’re a lefty, just like Phil Mickelson!” his dad replies.

After practice Jimmypicks up a golf ball and askshis dad, “Why do the balls have dimples?” “Golf balls have dimples to reduce air resistance,” says Dad. “That makesyour shot go farther.

“The golf course is a large area with18 holes,”Dad continues. “Why are there so manyholes?” Jimmy asks. “Eachone of the holes offers a different challenge. That’s what makes the game exciting!”Dad answers.

JimmywatchesPhil Mickelson play on TV and realizes Phil is left-handed just like he is. Jimmyis excited to learn one of the world’s best golfers is left-handed. “Do you think Ican play like Phil one day?” Jimmy asks. “With practice and patience, anything is possible,” Dad replies.

Jimmypractices his left-handed swing. “Why is it harder to learn this way?” Jimmyasks. “It’s not harder, Jimmy, just different. And that’s okay,” Dadencourages.

During a local tournament for beginning golfers, Jimmyplays asthe only lefty. “Why are the others staring?” he wonders. “They’re not used to seeing lefty players. But that doesn’t makeyou any less of a player,” Dad reassures his son.

One day, Jimmymeets Phil Mickelson. “Do you ever wishyou were a righty?” Jimmyasks his hero. “Not at all. Being a lefty makesme unique,” Phil replies.

As Jimmycontinues to practice his golf game improves every day. When Jimmywins his first junior tournament he is really excited. “This is for all the lefties out there!” he exclaims. His dad is beaming withpride.

Backat Brite Star,Jimmyand his dad share a hug. “Being different is not bad, it’s special. Right, Dad?” Jimmy asks.

“Absolutely, Jimmy,”Dad smiles.
