On her porch in Brite Star, Nana was ready to share another valuable lesson.
"Nana,"
Whit said, her voice small,
"there's a girl at school, Kate. She's always so mean to us."
"She bullies everyone," Whit continued, her eyes on the ground. "It's really scary."
"What should we do, Nana?" asked Sam, concern etched on her face.
"Children, bullies often act out because they feel insecure," Nana explained softly.
"Perhaps Kate feels small inside," Nana mused. "So she tries to make others feel the same."
"Stand tall and speak kindly," Nana advised. "Kindness can be more powerful than meanness."
The sisters nodded, practicing their stance. "We can be brave and kind," they agreed.
The next day, Whit approached Kate. "Hi, Kate," she said confidently, a smile on her face.
Kate was taken aback. The playground cheered as Whit's kindness shone through.
Slowly, the school began to change. Kate's demeanor softened, touched by Whit's kindness.
