VOLUME 2 ISSUE 2
letter from the editor
Hey!
Notice a few changes on the homefront? Last season was all about living a more intentional, slow
and strategic existence. I didn't abandon everything and run for the hills but I did take my own advice and decided to take a major step back from the daily grind of the blogging world. Instead, I tended to things that have been on the back burner for far too long, adjusted my schedule, and hit cruise control when necessary. So what did I do? First up, I gave Violet Roots a facelift! I'll go more in-depth on that in a future post but until then I hope you enjoy my fresh updated look. Secondly, I discovered a new concept that is not only a lifesaver but is also the theme of this issue - Clean Creation. In this issue, you'll find out exactly what clean creation is, how to master it, and why you need more of it in your life ASAP! After all, Spring isn't only about cleaning out that closet!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS SPRING
"Clear direction for you to create & grow"
This Spring is all about bringing new ideas, and new helpful resources to the forefront. I think it's really important to not only produce thoughtful blog content but to also create supplemental materials that can keep the conversation and the growth going. It's great when you're able to find a valuable post but if you don't ever practice what you learn there isn't really much point in learning it to begin with. There are already 30+ resources and freebies available to my subscribers that extend and expand on the Violet Roots principals. Each and every month more will be added so do yourself a favor and just sign up already!
In all seriousness though I want to make the advice that I give and the lessons that I teach more accessible and more connected. Quite a few of the products and freebies that are currently available have built in action items but they aren't as connected to one another as I would like to them to be. Part of my clean creation effort that I'll explain in a bit is to define a clear direction for you to create and grow in your creative journey! That means products with a clear start and end point based on your level of expertise and freebies made with a clear quick result. 3
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS SPRING Basically I want to give you more of what you want in a way that smoothly guides you from point A to B without any filler. You get the goods and I get to give them to you in a way that addresses your unique needs. So, if you want to overcome your creative doubt but you're an idea machine you'll be able to learn about one without having to sit through info on the other. You may want to feel more confident in being able to share your creative work. Or maybe you have no idea what you want to even create at all! All of these stages are
different and not everyone needs help in every area. If there is anything that you're dying to improve on in terms of your creativity feel free to shout it out in any way you chose! YOUR CREATIVE ENERGY IS IMAGINATION IN PRACTICE.

CLEAN Creation Clean Creation is the process of creating with more focus on your craft and less on what you consume in order to make it. In this day and age the average person consumes countless ideas on a daily basis. Each and every day you're confronted with an onslaught of information. Some of it is useful and
some of it is just noise. You see, even the parts that are useful can be detrimental to your creative growth. For instance you might sign up for a webinar, pick up a new book, turn on the TV, and scroll through your social feed. Maybe you only interact with and view educational materials.
More focus on your craft, less on what you consume in order to make it. Even then you're still over consuming. You're spending more time taking in new info and a lot less time creating. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? When you keep Clean Creation in mind you undoubtedly end up creating something that is more in line with your own vision - not someone else's. 6

Now that you have a good handle on what Clean Creation is it's time to apply it to your own life!
VR There are only 24 hours in a day so why not spend them creating what you love with less questioning and less second guessing.
You see, after a certain point any new info you learn about any given subject just goes in one ear and out the other.

You might technically learn more but how much of what you learn is actually permeating? How much of it are you retaining? Sometimes, we use planning and getting prepared as a way of putting off actually getting our hands dirty. After all, it's easier to take notes and make lists than it is to actually do the work. So, for this season's challenge I want you
to commit to consuming less and doing more. This will look different for each person but if this challenge is taken seriously you should still get the same result. More creative growth. So where should you begin? Try to only consume 1-3 new things each month. No more! 8

the commission PROCESS What to expect when ordering custom art. http://bit.ly/vrstudiocustom
What is a commission?
The inspo behind the art.
A commission is when a patron (you) decides to order a custom work of art. When they do this they usually fund the artist to bring their personal vision to life.
Every artist has their own personal influences that allow them to create their art in the way that they do.
The artist takes their requests and puts their own stylistic spin on it.
Why should I go custom? Having a custom work of art in your home is a one of a kind experience. Commissions become a collaborative experience between the artist and the patron. Not only do you have an original work that no one else has but you get to take part in the process.
For me, that inspiration is color, music, and emotion. All of my paintings are named after lyrics that stand out to me and that were an integral part of my painting process. A little of my own emotion goes into it and a lot of consideration of your wants and desires.
"Commissions are a collaborative experience"
