“This was the 30th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm,” Lt. Gen. (Ret) Mike Oates said. “We had 101st Airborne Division Veterans who participated in that conflict, Senior Battalion and Brigade Commanders, Division Staff, Commanding General, General Peay, and Corps Commander, General Luck.” “It was a reunion of sorts. These were young officers thirty years ago. Now, we’re all retired from active duty, but there were about fifteen retired General Officers present, people who went on to great careers after Desert Storm. It was an amazing group of people to serve with. Generals Peay and Luck are both retired 4-star Generals, now in their 80’s.”

“It was great to catch up with these old friends and colleagues. The event was sponsored by the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation. We said farewell to outgoing Director CSM (Ret) Rob Nichols and briefed everyone on the progress being made on the Wings of Liberty Museum. We anticipate starting construction on the museum in the summer of 2022 and opening to the public during Week of the Eagles 2025,” said Lt. Gen. (Ret) Mike Oates.
