Buzzing with Commercial Activity

Modern day Fish Bay

What once was remembered by some to be a little “limin” spot with a relatively small beach having little sand, seaweed, and where local children and families from the area and neighboring communities such as Jean Hill and Kingston would walk down to play, hunt crabs, catch fish and conch are now just reminiscent memories of decades ago in Fish Bay. As the Virgin Islands have developed over the years, so has the need for residential and commercial space, and some communities have embraced the growing need in the commercial arena much more than others. One such Fish Bay in 1996 community is Fish Bay, a growing area on the eastern outskirts of Road Town that has a vibrant commercial buzz. Much of what is seen today in Fish Bay is as a result of land reclamation and as a result, there’s currently no beach in Fish Bay. Fish Bay is a main thoroughfare for persons heading in an easterly direction and lies just between Jean Hill and Kingston. It is purely a small waters’ edge bay and has great views of Sir Francis Drake's Channel and surrounding islands including Peter Island.
