View to Bjørnø at Nab

A View of the Islands Ride out of Faaborg along Svendborgvej. Turn right onto Nabgyden. Further on, you will first find Nab Strand Camping and then Nab Strand on your right hand. At the beach there are toilet facilities and good parking places. Continue on and turn left onto Tværvej. At the top of the hill there is a beautiful view of a row of islands in the South Funen archipelago.

Nakkebølle - movielocation On Sanatorievej, you pass the imposing old Nakkebølle Sanatorium. The site has been used as a backdrop in the movie Solkongen (2005).

View to Fjællebroen

Fjællebroen If you turn right on Strandvejen you come to Fjællebroen with its small harbour. Ice cream, sausages and barbecue food can be purchased at the barbecue bar at the harbour. There is a nice view of Nakkebølle Sanatorium.

Konnerup Chokolade Ride back and continue straight on Strandvejen to the village of Vester Aaby. Turn left onto Svendborgvej and a little ahead on your right you will find Konnerup’s Chocolate which is worth a visit. Continue on Svendborgvej and turn right on Bøgebjergvej. After a short distance then turn left onto a cycle and walking path. At the end of the path turn right on Pejrupvej and then left onto Frederiksbergvej.

Holstenshuus Estate Turn right onto Nyhavevej, over the lane crossing and down to the Holstenshuus estate with the main building from 1910 (for visits and short stops - ride along the Slotsalléen, the driveway). Holstenshuus’ park was built as a rococo garden in 1753 by the current owner’s 4 x great grandfather Adam Christoffer Holsten. The park utilizes the hilly landscape to create different spaces in the garden. In the years 2008-2010 the park was renovated with financial support from the Realdania Foundation. More information can be found at www.herregaardshaver. dk. The park is open to the public as a private garden during the day with an entrance fee.

Here are tables and benches where you can have your lunch or drink your coffee. From here you can either cycle into the forest (there are local maps with summary details) or else ride up through the entrance to the Lucienhøj area with the parking lot and a fantastic view over the South Funen archipelago. From here you continue along Alléskovvej, where at one point through the trees, you’ll see the Bell Tower, the landmark of Faaborg town.
