Carnival FEATURES
Features of the Carnival include: • Teams from around the world. • 3 games per team on good turf and hard pitches hosted by local cricket clubs. • An enjoyable Opening Party and an entertaining Finale Dinner. • Accommodation packages from Au$1295 per person (players) and Au$1195 per person (non-players) share. • All players to be over 35, teams will be arranged into age groups and graded into self-assessed ability levels. Normal Vintage Cricket “rules” to apply-teams will play the Laws of Cricket with variations as follows; • Games to be 40 overs. • Maximum of 8 overs per bowler. • Minimum of 6 bowlers per innings. • Batsmen to retire at 35 and retirees permitted to resume their innings at the fall of the last wicket. • LBWs and ducks are played. • Captains can agree to vary these rules to suit their teams. • In the interests of getting the games finished in reasonable time, the various laws with respect to wides are to be applied with leniency. Strict interpretation could lengthen some overs beyond cricketing recognition. • The various regulations applying to injuries and when they occur and whether the injured player can be replaced to be ignored. It is likely most players will be bringing injuries into each game ranging from gout to hangovers to respiratory problems and to general lack of agility. • Teams are expected to respect our great game, their opponents, umpires and supporters by recognising that to many of us cricket still represents good sportsmanship, decent standards, friendship, fraternity and enjoyment of one of the greatest games. Geelong Cricket Association The Carnival is proudly supported by the Geelong Cricket. Geelong, Victoria is home to a number of beautiful cricket ovals where matches will be played and hosted by the local clubs. Cricket Victoria Tony Dodemaide, Chief Executive of Cricket Victoria has advised that the Association is pleased to endorse the Carnival and to support Geelong Cricket Association in their role of hosts of the Carnival.
