he inaugural Trans-Tasman Vintage Rugby Carnival will be hosted in Queenstown in November 2013 and will be a fantastic celebration of rugby in one of the world’s top tourist destinations. Vintage Rugby has introduced the Trans-Tasman Carnival to offer an opportunity for teams from throughout Australia and New Zealand to compete in a smaller Carnival a little closer to home. The Carnival is proudly supported by Destination Queenstown and the Wakatipu Rugby Club the only rugby club located in Queenstown, with a proud record and spectacular home ground. The Carnival week is planned out with nearly everything taken care of for your team, the Programme includes: • 6 nights’ accommodation (with option to extend stay). • 3 playing days. • Opening and Closing Functions (dinner, drinks and entertainment). • 2 – 3 leisure days to enjoy the region (with optional tours and excursions).
Vintage Rugby Vintage Rugby is dedicated to preserving the spirit and tradition of Rugby for mature players, supporters and referees. Vintage Rugby is open to players over the age of 35 whatever their agility, ability or experience. Full teams, part teams and individuals are welcomed. Programme The 2013 Tournament program is as follows: • Sunday, 10th November: Teams and supporters arrive and settle into accommodation. Team managers will meet for the Carnival briefing before being joined by teams and supporters ahead of the Opening Function. • Monday, 11th November: 1st round of matches at local rugby clubs, hospitality provided in the clubrooms for visiting teams and supporters. Carnival attendees will have a free evening to sample the eateries of the Queenstown region. • Tuesday, 12th November: A day at leisure when teams can enjoy various activities in the Queenstown Lakes Region; golf, sightseeing, shopping, wine tasting or adventure activities. The Vintage Rugby Golf Tournament will be held at one of the Accommodation Packages All prices are given in New Zealand Dollars and are a per person twin/double share rate. Evening will be at leisure with the chance to make the most of the regions restaurants and bars. • Friday, 15th November: 3rd and final round of matches. Following matches teams and supporters will get ready for the finale Dinner and awards; with a 3 course meal, drinks and entertainment. • Saturday, 16th November: Official Carnival festivities conclude; either check out of accommodation and depart or extend the stay to enjoy more of the regions offerings. • Invite to the Rugby Players and Supporters Evening at Wakatipu Rugby Club • Invite to the Vintage Rugby Golf Tournament.
