WHAT IS GOLDEN OLDIES? G
olden Oldies Festivals began 35 years ago and since then have given 150,000 individuals the opportunity to play their favourite sport in wonderful destinations. Golden Oldies Festivals are designed to give those over the age of 35, the opportunity to play against fellow sporting enthusiasts of all abilities, from around the world. Due to high demand, we are delighted to add Softball to the Golden Oldies sports stable with our
first festival to be held in Hawaii in September 2016. Supporters and family members are always welcomed into this special fraternity and are encouraged to participate in the social functions and to take part in optional tours and excursions. Golden Oldies Festivals are guaranteed to ensure customer satisfaction by providing opportunities to travel to interesting and attractive destinations to enjoy sporting activities against international teams and players.
WHY HAWAII?
Keep saying you’ll head to Hawaii one day?. . Well that one day has come! Golden Oldies Festivals are as much about the destination as they are the sport. Hawaii is the perfect destination for relaxation, adventure, hidden treasures, gorgeous beaches and scenic landscapes. The beautiful island of Oahu, is the third largest Hawaiian island. Oahu is widely diverse, not only in ethnicity but also in activities. While one minute you can be sipping cocktails and relaxing on the beach, the next you could be shopping to your hearts content in Waikiki, climbing Leahi (Diamond Head), visiting famous Pearl Harbour or surfing the waves on the North Shore. In between Festival games and activities, you will be given plenty of free time to explore the island at your leisure. We are also able to offer a range of pre and post tour packages to suit your needs while making the most of the island’s picturesque landscape.

THE GAME PLAN Day 1 – Sunday 18th September • Teams arrive to Oahu and settle into accommodation • Team Managers briefing at Pacific Beach Hotel (Festival Headquarters) • Welcome Party – Finger food & local beverages will be served. This is a great opportunity to meet other Festival goers who you will enjoy the following week with. Day 2 – Monday 19th September • Teams will be transferred to pitches for the first day of Softball matches. • Transfers will be provided back to Waikiki during the afternoon. • Evening at leisure to explore Waikiki’s fine dining restaurants, cocktail bars, live music and vibrant nightlife. There is also the option to join us for a live Polynesian show. Day 3 – Tuesday 20th September • Teams will be transferred to pitches for the second day of Softball matches. • Transfers will be provided back to Waikiki during the afternoon .• Evening at leisure to explore Waikiki’s fine dining restaurants, cocktail bars, live music and vibrant nightlife. Day 4 – Wednesday 21st September • A free day to explore the island of Oahu, relax on a stunning beach, explore Diamond Head, play golf or take one of our optional tours. • Watch the sunset on our optional dinner cruise by night.
Day 5 – Thursday 22nd September • Teams will be transferred to pitches for the third day of Softball matches. • Transfers will be provided back to Waikiki during the afternoon. • Evening at leisure to explore Waikiki’s fine dining restaurants, cocktail bars, live music and vibrant nightlife. Day 6 – Friday 23rd September • Teams will be transferred to pitches for the final day of Softball matches. • Transfers will be provided back to Waikiki during the afternoon. • Evening at leisure to explore Waikiki’s fine dining restaurants, cocktail bars, live music and vibrant nightlife. Day 7 – Saturday 24th September • Day at leisure to take part in one of our optional excursions or to relax and unwind on the beach for the night ahead! • Finale Party at Germaine’s Luau, where a full Hawaiian Feast and beverages will be served. Traditional entertainment is bound to get you up on the dancefloor, before saying goodbye to your new Festival friends. Day 8 – Sunday 25th September • Mid-morning teams check out of Festival accommodation and farewell new friends. • Teams can either depart Waikiki or extend their stay to enjoy more of Hawaii or the USA’s offerings.
CATEGORIES: FASTPITCH and SLOWPITCH The Festival will feature Slowpitch and Fastpitch tournaments, with all games played under ASA rules, at both the impeccable Patsy Mink Central Oahu Regional Park and Sand Island grounds. Each team will play eight games over the Festival week. Fastpitch Softball for those that enjoy a competitive game of Softball. Bring your family and friends to support your team both on and off the diamond. Fastpitch Categories Teams: Men, Women Age Group: 35+, 45+, 55+
Slowpitch is played widely in many parts of the world by people of all ages and Hawaii is no exception! If you’re a beginner or just love the social aspect, then Slowpitch is for you. Bring your family, friends or work colleagues together and enjoy good competition and fun and friendship on and off the diamonds. We have been affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association of America since 1957 and take full advantage of the programs they offer us.
