Multivac UK • The Right Package • A word from the MD 3
A word from the MD of Multivac UK Welcome to the latest edition of The Right Package (TRP), as always we have lots of great content for you to enjoy. We continue to have a strong 2022 and all areas of the business equipment, Technical and Materials working well and really delivering on our published Business Plan (BP) objective of growing a ‘balanced portfolio’. As I write this I have just arrived in Frankfurt to attend the IFFA 2022 show – just two weeks ago Multivac was exhibiting at Anuga, Dusseldorf. Both shows are huge international exhibitions and are the first shows for more that two years. It’s a great chance to showcase our innovation and reconnect with customers and of course international colleagues. It looks set to be a busy but productive week ahead with lots of UK customers attending. This edition also highlights the breadth of our range with complete line solutions from our
great Projects Team as well as a really important new order for our Fritsch range of bakery equipment. All this complexity has challenges but our BP and philosophy of One Multivac remains our way to best manage this. It also wonderful to see new colleagues joining and others celebrating long service awards. Vegetarian and Plant based food sales continue to grow and the recent Quorn order is just another example of us working hard to develop business in these areas – this time for Slicing. So please take a coffee and a few minutes to catch up on all our latest news, enjoy! Best regards, Jim Campbell: Managing Director

Rio Neesom HR Admin
N STA EW PRORTER FILE
I joined Multivac in February this year as a HR administrator which is my first role within a HR function. Previously I was a team leader, managing a team of nine where I dipped my toe into HR processes, and was curious about the policies, processes, and functions of a HR team. My curiosity finally got the better of me and I enrolled into a CIPD Level 5 Diploma in people management. Outside of work, I enjoy expressing my creativity including DIY projects around the house, drawing and painting, making candles and photography. I moved into my first house with my partner a week after the first lockdown and found Bert myself with a lot of spare time at home so turfed my garden, installed a built-in wardrobe, and decorated my house, so it felt more like a home. My next project will be installing a tile backsplash in the kitchen, wish me luck! I am also a massive foodie and have travelled untold miles just to get a Five Guys (before they were in Swindon). I live with my partner Matt and we have two black cats called Bertie and Georgie. Bert is a sophisticated fella and loves the finer things in life, and my bank account has suffered since! George is more of a little lad, always causing mischief and bringing live presents home! I have been welcomed with open arms to MUUK and I look forward to getting to know people from across the business as my knowledge grows.

Multivac UK • The Right Package • Ask HR! 5
Introducing... Ask We want to make it as simple and easy as we can for you to find out information that you need about HR policies and process and to enable you to do so quickly and efficiently. We know that if you have a question or a query that’s urgent for you, you’re looking for a quick answer or advice.
HR!
Things that you might want to send to Ask HR could include: • Holiday queries • HR Hub queries and guidance • Leave and absence queries • Pay/Payslip/Payroll queries
As a small team we have a broad range of issues that we need to work on and like everyone we’re always busy so making sure that you receive what you need in a timely way can at times be challenging. We know that we can improve how quickly we deal with your queries but to do so we’ll need to change our current approach. From 1st June we will be launching a new support model aimed at providing you faster and more efficient ways to find what you need
• Working from home queries • Benefits queries (pension, BUPA etc.) • General HR queries We’d also encourage you to talk to your manager as they should be able to help you with many of the above. We will aim to deal with all queries to the inbox within 72 hours and in most situations 48 hours. Escalate From time to time you may raise a question that needs to be escalated to a senior member of the team who will handle it and respond directly to you. Rio Neesom: HR Admin
Find Most of the questions that you have regarding benefits, policies and procedure can be found on the revamped intranet on our new sharepoint page which can be located here or by using the Multivac UK navigation and clicking on HR Policies & Procedures. We encourage you to start by visiting the intranet as it’s likely that 90% of what you need to know will be here. Ask HR If however you can’t locate what you’re looking for or you have a one off query, then you can email our new inbox call Ask HR. We ask that you use this central inbox rather than email the team individually as it means that we can track and monitor incoming queries more efficiently and therefore provide a better service to you. It also means that anyone of the team can deal with your query so avoiding significant delays.

6 Morrisons International Seafoods • The Right Package • Multivac UK
Morrisons International Seafoods New Line 1 - R575MF with I211 and MUUK’s first Thom and Carsoe Crate Loader International Seafoods, owned by Morrisons, have two factories based on the Europac Industrial estate just off the A180 four miles from Grimsby. They are commonly known in Multivac as Pegasus Way and Lakeside. These sites are Morrisons‘ primary seafood operations (there is a third facility in Cornwall, Falfish). The Pegasus way operation is their primary retail processing facility for fish and Lakeside is their further processing and retail packing operation for seafood. International Seafoods pack their finished products into Bale Arm Crates, ready for delivery to their stores around the UK.
Bale arm crates now form an important and integral part of the supply chain. These crates offer safe transport of products, are continually reused and offer a more environmentally friendly method of product transport, when compared the pervious SRP (Shelf Ready Packaging) cardboard boxes. Like many of our customers Morrisons face the challenges of rising employment costs, the availability of workers and limited floor space. This drives a need to increase output from the same production footprint and reduce where possible the number of people needed. In January 2022 we delivered and commissioned a new Multifresh packing line. The customer’s ROI (Return On
Investment) justification for this investment was based on increasing output from 80 to 120 packs per minute and to operate with only one a single operator at the end of line instead of the normal three. A four track, three row format and ten cycles a minute is a fairly standard application for a R575 MF Thermoformer.
Multivac UK • The Right Package • Morrisons International Seafoods 7
However, getting eight finished packs in a single bale arm crate, at 15 crates a minute isn’t. The traditional solution of robots picking and placing would normally require a three robot cell solution, significant floor space and make the project financially unjustifiable due to the cost of the robots. It would have been easy to say it can’t be done and that there isn’t a viable solution available. However, it’s in situation like this that Multivac UK excels. Bring together the experiences and knowledge of Sales, Project and Product Management and the strong relationships we have with our 3rd party OEM partners. This process produced a simple crate loading solution, with only minor tweaks to existing equipment designs and enable us to offer a very cost effective solution, from proven technology (limiting the risk to Multivac), in our offer. The end result was a satisfied customer (we fulfilled the brief) and a new standard solution that can be replicated on other lines and at other customers. Ian Wells: Key Account Manager
“The customer’s return on investment justification for this was based on increasing output from 80 to 120 packs per minute...”

First completeline order for Fritsch • The Right Package • Multivac UK
First complete line order for Fritsch A major force in the UK Addo Foods have multiple sites across the UK including Poole, Nottingham, Spalding and Market Drayton. Addo’s Market Drayton site is responsible for the manufacture of some 312 million products per year! Founded some 200 years ago in 1786 by Richard Wall, todays modern Market Drayton site is responsible for manufacturing suppling some of the nations favourite products including pies and sausage rolls under own label and supermarket branding. Multivac UK have enjoyed a long-term relationship with Addo Foods and have previously supplied number of standalone vacuum packing machines for is pie filling products and more recently a new high speed tray sealing line complete with Multihead Weigher for its Sausage Roll products. With such a high output of core products Addo employ high levels of manufacturing automation making it difficult to accommodate and develop new products that do not readily lend themselves to their current manufacturing plant. Not so with the Fritsch Varioflex M700 unit, a compact versatile unit taking up just 5900mm x 1360mm x 1600mm of floor space. the Varioflex is a portable line that can be configured for low / medium level production of products including sausage rolls, D Shape Pasties, slices and Pin Wheel products Addo Foods have ambition to produce a range of pinwheel products both sweet and savoury and following successful virtual trails amidst the Covid pandemic and taking advantage of Fritsch unrivalled “World of Bakery” facility, Multivac UK were able to demonstrate the Varioflex M700 was the right machine for them. A collaborative decision to proceed headed up by Neil Parry Site Director, Mick Haslem - Engineering Manager and Elain Bell – Product Development it was plain to see that high quality consistent products could be produced and replicated on what is in essence a portable make up line. The Fritsch Varioflex is designed to accept reels of pre laminated pastry typically 600mm wide and wound on to what the industry commonly refers to as spools. These spools are manually transferred to the Fritsch Varioflex M700 line where they are passed through a calibrating head designed to regulate
the thickness of the sheet typically from between 0.1mm – 4.2mm depending on the product to be manufactured. A longitudinal Guillotine will then cut the now regulated pastry sheet, remove any scrap ahead of a filling unit that will coat the pastry with a sweet or savoury filling. Once coated a spreading bar system ensures an even filling coating is applied to the entire pastry sheet. In this instance the Varioflex is fitted with a coiling unit which is in essence a driven motorised cone that rotates at a set angle to the main conveyor. As the coated sheet passes the coiling unit the sheet is wound in such a way to produce a roll that captures the filling layers, not that

indifferent to a Swiss roll a product we all know and love. Finally, once the desired “pin wheel” diameter has been produced a guillotine that runs across the width of the conveyor cuts the coiled product into individual pieces ready for baking. Addo had several reasons for purchasing the Varioflex M700 from Multivac , the primary reason being the units versatility and its ability to be quickly and effortlessly changed to manufacture different products such as slices or D shaped pasties with relatively low financial outlay, Addo also recognised that not only is the Fritsch line of the highest quality but Multivac UK has a recognised and proven track record
when it comes to unrivalled aftersales care and support, important in fast moving business like Addo. With the line due to be delivered into Market Drayton shorty the Varioflex M700 marks the beginning a new era of product development for Addo’s business, exciting times lie ahead and we at Multivac are privileged to be considered as Addo’s preferred partner, should be honoured to be invited to come along for the ride. Multivac Slicing has a new cutting edge...
Multivac UK • The Right Package • Sales Management Team 11
Introducing the newest addition to the Multivac Product Sales Management team, Lewis Pascoe. Lewis joins us from the Multivac service team where he has occupied the role of slicing technical specialist and has been key to getting the product into new customers and markets Having previously served as an international slicing service technician with Marel and a multiskilled maintenance technician at one of our key customers Karro Haverhill Lewis was the perfect fit for the Product Management team where we continue to utilise superior technical knowledge and turn this into sales. He is also a huge Tottenham Hotspur supporter, but they do say nobody is perfect! Slicing technology At present it is an exciting and pivotal time for slicing as the MUWO development team continue to introduce new technology enabling us to leapfrog our competition to offer something truly unique into the market. The new RX4.0 Integrated slicer horizontal loader and the super soft blade launch are great examples of where we will look to innovate and grow in the coming months giving us USP’s to exploit.
First Order I would personally like to congratulate Lewis on already winning his first order that he has received from Quorn foods. This is interesting because he was able to support the trials as a technician and then convert the final order already in his new role. It definitely takes most of us much longer than a few weeks to get our first PO so well done!
Processing Team The processing team that Lewis will slot into also announced strategic changes recently within the structure which includes my appointment to ‘Business Unit Manager Processing’. This now means that the TVI and Multivac Slicing products will fall under one umbrella with processing from a sales and marketing perspective This strategic change is designed to give the business greater flexibility on ‘processing’ which will enable us to support better, quicker and stronger with the unprecedented demand for our machinery and knowledge As part of the new structure was a commitment towards having a dedicated Marketing manager on board to proactively push the rapidly evolving opportunities direct to our customers where we need them. Unfortunately, Alesha who would have done this role has moved on in her career, but we will look to replace this position with time to continue the great work previously done. Transition period This initial period taking us into Q4 2022 will be one of transition for all of our team as we look to accelerate our learnings on all processing products through cross product training and exposure where possible.
Once complete however, this should give us the strength and breadth to introduce the new look processing team in Q1 2023 where we can begin to flex this muscle and work smarter for our customers and the rest of the MUUK team. Please wish myself and the rest of the team the best of luck!
Lewis Pascoe: Product Manager
12 The Future of Standard Solutions • The Right Package • Multivac UK
The Future of Standard Solutions After a long development process, Standard solutions were uploaded to Fluix in October 2020. Unfortunately, as we went through the pandemic and an increasing projects workload, we became increasingly unsure if they were being used as the one pager/concepts were taking off. Early this year we sent out a questionnaire to the sales team, to understand what our next steps should be. After receiving the great feedback we realised a revival was in order. We are now in the process of creating a new range of standard solutions. Liaising with Fritsch, we are able to add new budget solutions for their “standard” lines. Updating to the new TX range of Traysealers, available where applicable, should give the existing solutions a facelift with speeds and formats. There will also be the addition of generic ready meal solutions with Multihead weighers and depositors. All while streamlining the current solutions to remove the excess that aren’t being used. As some may be aware projects were able to get Solidworks 3D software and training. To put this to good use we will be incorporating 3D drawings into the new standard solutions to give an extra wow factor. These will also be available in the library of 3D lines that will be available on Fluix, for easy access, to show off to the customer separate to the standard solutions. We were made aware, in the answers of the questionnaire, that our solutions are not always completely linear. As we originally tried to highlight automation for all speeds, we ended up having expensive case packers and palletisers on low speed lines. This will be adjusted with realistic solutions being a priority. The automation will be included but as an option so as to not overinflate the pricing unnecessarily. The biggest part of this revival is creating Secon configurations, where possible, for the solutions enabling easy updates and accuracy for the future. For the thermoformer solutions, this also means accurate drawings taken from Secon. These new Standard solutions should be ready to release by the end of the year, after the price update, ready for 2023. Kalin Peaston - Proposals and Project Engineer

ANUGA & IFFA Tradeshows 2022
Well, finally after two years it’s time for German tradeshows to spring back into action! The Corporate Marketing team has been working hard on the new Anuga FoodTec and IFFA tradeshow concepts to provide visitors with a new experience during their visits this year. The shows are only a few weeks apart (due to postponements) and both will exhibit similar machinery with the same motto: Reach your PEAQ performance: Performance | Efficiency | Availability | Quality The concept aims to highlight the MULTIVAC ‘PEAQ promise’, an extension of our brand positioning which focuses on the productivity of our customers. Our advantages can achieve significant cost savings and contribute to the success of our customer’s businesses’. ANUGA is first up and will be held on the 26-29th of April in Cologne and is the leading tradeshow for the food and beverage industry. The machinery on show will be similar to that shown at IFFA, however, there will be more of a focus on the processing and packaging of foods from all sectors. Luke Gowen. Central Regional Sales Manager will represent MUUK on the stand and will be a point of contact for any UK visitors.
IFFA will be held on the 14-19th of May in Frankfurt and is the trade fair for processing, packaging, and selling of meat and alternative proteins. The stand will focus on ‘Meat and alternative protein products’ with a range of solutions for visitors to experience. Douglas Keith, South-East Regional Sales Manager will represent MUUK at the show, and other members of the sales and product management teams will be visiting to see the machine launches, and to check out competitor offerings! Both shows will present our wide range of machines and the latest line solutions with topics of sustainability and digitalisation (add in snip of machinery). There will also be live demonstrations for portioning including the launch of the new GMS 400 from TVI and the S 1600 slicer (for IFFA only) held in an outdoor tent on the exhibition grounds. In addition to the MULTIVAC stand, our processing partners Risco, Laska and Schröter will also have exhibition stands at IFFA and will be exhibiting new products for our customers to go and experience.
