A wedding book or journal is often extremely useful when planning your wedding to help keep all your ideas in one place and make sure that every detail is ready and organised. A place to keep track of table plans and invite RSVP’s or even styling your bridesmaids dresses. This book will help make your day run smoothly and take away any stress in the planning process. Many couples go over budget when planning their wedding so it’s important to consider your budget during the planning process. An easy way to do this is by not only creating a budget but also a wedding checklist to help you keep within your price margin. SCENE

When planning your wedding your top priority should always be the venue. Get this sorted then you can plan everything else around it.

Your venue will depend on your location, your budget, and the number of guests you wish to invite. Some venues, such as stately homes or exclusive hotels, may require a minimum number of guests, making them less suitable for smaller, intimate weddings. If you’re dreaming of a more personal celebration, a charming countryside barn or boutique hotel might be a better fit. Therefore, one of the first things to consider is how many people you want to invite. The size of your guest list will naturally influence the venue options available to you, so it’s essential to have a clear idea of your numbers early on.

Budget is also crucial when selecting a venue. As a general rule, your venue costs shouldn’t exceed half of your overall budget, allowing you to allocate funds for other key elements like catering, flowers, and entertainment. When reviewing venue prices, don’t forget to ask what’s included. Some venues offer all-inclusive packages that include catering, décor, and even basic wedding coordination, while others charge separately for these services. It’s always wise to set aside some of your budget for extras that might not be included, such as upgraded table settings, additional lighting, or entertainment enhancements.

Another important factor is the location and potential travel logistics, especially if you plan to hold your ceremony and reception at different venues. Travel distances affect not just your guests, but also your vendors—photographers, caterers, and transport providers—who may charge extra for longer journeys. For weddings with multiple locations, consider arranging group transport such as a coach to ease the transition between venues and make the day more enjoyable for everyone involved. This ensures that guests arrive on time and feel looked after, and it also simplifies your wedding schedule.

Once you’ve chosen your venue, it will directly impact many other aspects of your day, from catering and décor to transport and even the style of your dress. A grand ballroom may inspire a more formal affair with lavish décor, while a rustic barn could set the tone for a relaxed, country-style

celebration. Make sure your venue complements the overall theme and mood you envision for your wedding day.

Many venues offer open days or wedding fairs where couples can visit, meet vendors, and imagine how their big day might unfold. Visiting potential venues in person allows you to get a feel for the space and envision your dream wedding coming to life. Take note of the venue’s unique features, such as beautiful gardens, courtyards, or scenic views, which can provide the perfect backdrop for stunning wedding photos.

Remember, the setting you choose will play a big role in making your day unforgettable, so take your time, explore your options, and select a venue that reflects your vision and style. The right venue not only provides a stunning setting for your celebration but also helps to create memories that will last a lifetime.

CHURCH WEDDING

THE CHARM OF A CHURCH

WEDDING

When it comes to wedding venues, churches hold a special allure with their timeless beauty and rich history. In Britain alone, there are approximately 16,000 churches to choose from, each offering a unique sense of character and a chance to be a part of centuries-old traditions.

One of the most cherished aspects of a church wedding is the opportunity to incorporate personal touches that hold deep meaning for you, your partner, and your family. Whether it’s getting married in the same church where generations before you exchanged vows, selecting favourite hymns, or including prayers handed down through your family, a church ceremony can create special connections to your past and shared heritage. Many couples are also drawn to the spiritual experience of having their union blessed in front of their loved ones, regardless of their specific religious beliefs.

A key feature of Church of England weddings is their inclusivity. You don’t need to be religious to have a Church of England wedding, as vicars are sensitive to the diversity and complexity of spiritual beliefs. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or have never attended before, you will always receive a warm welcome to celebrate your special day within the church’s sacred walls. In contrast, Catholic weddings require at least one partner to be of the Catholic faith,

with a dispensation needed if the other partner is not Catholic.

Church weddings typically take place between 8 am and 6 pm, and at least two witnesses must be present. The average cost of a church wedding is around £500, which covers the church, the vicar’s services, the marriage certificate, and the reading of the banns. Additional extras, such as flowers or an organist, may incur further costs. To ensure everything runs smoothly, many churches offer a wedding rehearsal for you, your partner, and the bridal party, allowing everyone to feel confident and prepared on the big day.

In England and Wales, wedding vows cannot be changed, but in Scotland, couples can personalise their vows with the approval of the Minister, adding a more unique and meaningful touch to the ceremony.

A church wedding remains a timeless choice, offering not only a beautiful setting but also the chance to honour tradition while creating lasting memories, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.

A CEREMONY AS UNIQUE AS

YOUR LOVE

A civil ceremony offers you and your partner the chance to have a completely personalized wedding without any religious elements or connotations.

This opens up a world of possibilities, offering you unmatched freedom, particularly when selecting your ceremony location. With thousands of approved venues across the UK, from castles to aquariums, the options are endless. One of the greatest advantages of a civil ceremony is the ability to personalise your venue, allowing your personality to shine through on your special day. From the decorations to the atmosphere, you have control to create a setting that reflects you as a couple.

Another wonderful aspect is the freedom to choose music and readings that tell your unique love story. Your vows, in particular, can be crafted without restrictions, giving you the opportunity to express the depth of your bond as a couple. You might include song lyrics, poetry, or a phrase that holds special meaning for you both, making your vows even more personal and heartfelt. With this freedom, you can create sincere words that resonate with your partner.

In addition, civil ceremonies are often shorter than traditional church services, making them a practical

option for couples who prefer a concise yet meaningful celebration.

The flexibility and control that a civil ceremony provides allow you to design a perfect, personalised day that you and your family will treasure forever. This unique approach ensures that your wedding is a memorable, bespoke event, turning your dream into reality.

While a simple registry office ceremony is an option, it may lack the personal touch that other venues can offer. Registry office ceremonies follow specific formalities for any legally binding contract. You must give Notice of Intention to Marry or Notice of Civil Partnership at the Registry Office, and the ceremony must take place within a year, allowing time for any legal objections to be raised.

Ultimately, it’s about having the wedding of your dreams, and a civil ceremony offers limitless possibilities, enabling you to create a one-of-a-kind celebration that perfectly reflects your love and commitment.

OUTDOOR WEDDINGS

DREAMING OF AN OUTDOOR WEDDING?

Getting married under a sky full of stars or with a stunning backdrop of a beach, a forest or even on a city rooftop may be your idea of a dream wedding, but there are some important things that you must remember.

In the United Kingdom, you can only legally marry beneath a fixed structure with a roof, such as a veranda or bandstand. While this means you can’t legally wed in a marquee, you do have the option of holding a blessing in any location of your choice, and then formalising the legal marriage at a later date.

Many venues across the UK provide charming structures such as pavilions and huts that are approved for wedding ceremonies. Some unique places, like treehouses or beach huts, have even secured special licences, giving couples the chance to say their vows in truly memorable outdoor settings.

For a more robust option, yurts offer a great alternative to marquees. They are sturdy and provide more indoor space, making them ideal for weddings during unpredictable weather. Some yurts come with cosy features like woodburning stoves and comfy seating, ensuring warmth and comfort when the evening air cools.

Outdoor weddings also give you the flexibility to opt for a more relaxed dining experience. Instead of the traditional three-course meal, a buffet-style setup works perfectly in a barn or marquee setting, enhancing the laid-back vibe. This option can also help keep catering costs down, which is often a major expense for weddings.

Another advantage of an outdoor wedding is its versatility. Whether you envision a small, intimate gathering or a large, lively party, you can adapt the setting to suit your guest list and budget. Outdoor spaces also allow for creative personalisation with themes such as an English country garden, tea party, or rustic rural décor.

Be sure to inform your guests that much of your wedding will take place outdoors so they can dress appropriately. Clear details in your invitations will help them prepare for any potential weather surprises, whether that means bringing jackets, wraps, or umbrellas.

A WEDDING RECEPTION TO IMPRESS?

From personalised seating plans to carefully selected menus and drinks, every detail of your wedding reception creates lasting memories.

Your wedding reception is a chance to reflect your personality and style, creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for all. For many guests, it’s the highlight of the day, and with their expectations high, it’s your opportunity to host a fantastic celebration that everyone will cherish. Whether you dream of an intimate gathering or a large-scale affair, your wedding reception should be a reflection of your love and happiness. From the meal to the seating arrangements, every detail should be thoughtfully planned to ensure a delightful experience for your guests.

When deciding on the meal, you can opt for a formal sit-down dinner or a more relaxed buffet-style arrangement. Consider crafting a seating plan that groups family and friends with shared interests or connections, encouraging conversation and a friendly atmosphere throughout the event. You may also want to add personalised touches to your décor, table settings, or favours, helping create an environment

that feels uniquely yours and adds to the overall experience.

One of the key aspects of the wedding reception is personally greeting each guest as they arrive. Take the time to express your gratitude for their support and presence on this special day. While the day may be busy, greeting each guest individually will help make them feel truly valued and appreciated.

To keep the festivities flowing smoothly, think about offering an open bar. Even if you’re working with a budget, you can still serve one brand of beer, ale, or house wine, and offer a couple of cocktail options for those who prefer something different. Another idea is to provide a complimentary drink, such as prosecco, at the start of the reception to welcome your guests with a smile. Offering the option for guests to purchase other drinks ensures preferences are catered to. Finally, ensure you have a clear timeline for speeches, cake cutting, and dancing to maintain a steady flow, allowing your guests to enjoy each moment without feeling rushed.

DRESS

Finding something that feels like you and makes you confident in the process can be daunting; let’s start with the colour and move from there.

Choosing a wedding dress is the most exciting and challenging decision to make. Don’t feel pressured into tradition. Instead, choose a colour that suits you and flattens your figure and complexion. Weddings are constantly changing: church weddings, civil ceremonies, and outdoor and destination venues are all growing in popularity. Modern brides are daring to make a statement with their gowns, and choosing the right colour can definitely do that.

PURE WHITE

Pure white is an amazing choice, with its meaning

of innocence and purity—perfect for a traditional bride. However, pure white can look a little blue in full lighting and isn’t flattering for all skin tones. Designers typically prefer a slight off-white, as it is less vivid and a touch more silvery, removing the blue undertones.

IVORY

Ivory is white with a hint of cream, giving it a softer, more flattering tone. The warm undertone means it looks great on every skin tone. Ivory is a versatile choice that works well with lace and embellishments and can be tailored to suit your wedding theme. It symbolises love and commitment.

BRIDAL GOWNS

BLUSH

Blush dresses are rapidly growing in popularity. Originally used as a bridesmaid’s dress colour, it has now made its way into the bridal range, showing a playful and flirtatious style of love. Using Blush as an undertone for a dress with white lace gives an elegant and warm atmosphere.

OYSTER

An oyster dress has a light gold undertone and a subtle pearlescent shimmer that flatters warm and cool skin tones. Perfect for a classic and traditional wedding with its sophisticated look. Oyster is the perfect alternative to a traditional gown, giving it a vintage feel.

CHAMPAGNE

Champagne has a richer, golden tone than oyster and a luxurious feel. It is an elegant and sophisticated

choice for any bride-to-be, capturing a soft, romantic hue with a sense of glamour. Adding embellishments such as lace, tulle, chiffon, or organza creates a vintage romantic atmosphere.

COLOURFUL

Colourful dresses make a bold statement to suit your style. Some popular ones are black, blue, red, and dresses with bright embroidery flowers. Black dresses signify power, sophistication, and wealth with a sense of mystery. Red and green dresses can give a festive feel, while red symbolises love, passion, and desire. Dresses have been made in every shade of blue, from Baby blue to deep indigo. A perfect shade can be made for each skin type. Shades to match beach-themed weddings and moody skies. Why not make your something blue your dress? Adding colourful embroidery to a white or ivory dress is a tasteful way to enhance a gown. This can be perfect for a boho or outdoor wedding, whether it be floral, beaded patterns or a celestial design.

Darker colours can make any lace or embellishment stand out and save you from being washed out from pure white. Keep in mind the amount of glitter and embellishments you would like, as they can affect the colour. But most importantly, don’t overthink it. You will receive support from your stylist, friends, and family at your bridal appointment. So have fun with it and dare to be different.

BRIDE MOST BEAUTIFUL

A wedding is a glorious celebration of a loving union, and all eyes are on the bride and her partner as they take their vows. Every bride wants to be at her most beautiful on this special day, and the key to achieving the look of her dreams is early planning.

So, decide on your look, honestly assess any problem areas and, if needed, seek professional advice as soon as you’ve set the date. This not only allows for positive changes in fitness and beauty routines but also cuts down on stress and sleepless nights, both of which wreak havoc on health and condition of skin, hair and nails.

A wedding can provide the ideal impetus to make important lifestyle changes such as establishing a good skin care routine, taking plenty of exercise, and drinking lots of water to ensure maximum hydration. It also offers a perfect excuse for pampering; manicures, pedicures and facials are the order of the day. Some brides may consider more intricate procedures such as semi-permanent makeup, hair and lash extensions, laser hair removal, and chemical skin peels. If doing so, it is important to plan the timescale of treatments carefully with a qualified aesthetician or beauty therapist to avoid problems such as skin irritation spoiling your wedding day.

Many brides use the professional services of makeup artists to perfect their look. Local salons offer comprehensive packages which can be specially tailored for each bride’s needs and may also include hair and makeup for bridesmaids and guests.

You may choose to emphasise your natural beauty or aim for more dramatic glamour. Water-based foundations and cream blushers are popular as they provide a long-lasting lightweight dewy coverage. Eyes may be accentuated in smoky neutral shades or perhaps accented with a classic winged eyeliner and iridescent hues. You could select a soft dusky pink or nude lipstick for a natural look or opt for a ‘pop of colour’ with a lip shade of vivid red or burgundy.

Whatever you decide, good preparation is all important so that you can enjoy the day confident you’re at your bridal best!

ENHANCING YOUR

NATURAL BEAUTY

Choosing the perfect lingerie for your wedding day is as important as finding the perfect gown. Your wedding lingerie should make you feel beautiful from the inside out. Creating a look that enhances your figure, fits daringly into your curves and one that gives you a sensory experience against your skin. It is a pre-requisite to feeling like a goddess on your wedding day from morning till night.

It should reflect your personality and style, whether that is subtle, daring, or revered. There is a myriad of choices of bridal lingerie. Whatever you’re looking for, whether it’s bras and panties, thongs, corsets, or bodysuits, be sure to choose hosiery that complements your look and the mood you want to create for yourself and your groom.

Your bridal gown is the base in getting the right lingerie; is your bridal gown backless, strapless or has a plunging neckline. This will decide the type of bra you choose. Remember to consider the level of support that you want. In feeling the most desirable you can, and by choosing the correct style and size is paramount to not having any mishaps on your special day.

You should feel comfortable in your lingerie, straps and any pantie lines should be invisible and appear seamless. Briefs, hipsters, or G-strings are other options, although take care to choose the right size, if doubt takes hold consider a size up for comfort.

Many brides opt for a bodysuit or corset in the form of shapewear. This will enhance your silhouette, define your waistline and be supportive and comfortable. Consider your body type when deciding on the best

one for you. It would be beneficial to have lingerie with you when searching for your perfect gown.

Stockings and hosiery are a must have for your wedding. Remember to keep in mind the style of your gown, and your skin tone when choosing. They should feel luxurious to your skin and compliment your bridal gown and shoes and give you comfort throughout the day.

Garters are traditional to a bride’s attire and date back considerably. The perfect place to wear one is a few inches above the knee, they are said to represent good luck and fertility. There are many unique styles, trimmings or adornments that will allude to a little risqué to your outfit.

Always opt for higher quality materials if you can. Popular choices of delicate laces are romantic and feminine, silky satins feel luxurious and smooth silks are pure unadulterated love.

Finally, discovering the right lingerie for you will ensure you will feel sensational, radiant and beautiful on your special day.

CREATIVE WAYS TO STYLE YOUR

BRIDESMAIDS

When choosing the dresses for your bridesmaids there is a lot to think about. You want each of your bridesmaids to feel and look amazing but you must also ensure it ties in with your own dress and the theme of your wedding.

There are many creative ways to dress your bridesmaids, particularly if you prefer a more personalised look rather than having them perfectly matched. One option is to choose a specific colour and let your bridesmaids select their own dress style within that colour palette. You could even extend this to a range of shades, such as from light to bright blue. This approach allows each bridesmaid to choose a dress that flatters her body type and complements her skin tone. If you still want a cohesive look, you can keep the dresses similar by varying just one element, such as the length, neckline, or shade.

A popular trend at the moment is dressing bridesmaids in separates. This option adds a fun, modern twist to their outfits by allowing you to mix and match colours and fabrics. You can also incorporate unique details like pleats or gathers to complete the look.

Another great way to ensure everyone is happy with their dress is by choosing a multiway bridesmaid dress. These dresses can be styled in several different ways while maintaining the same colour and fabric, so your

bridesmaids can match while still feeling comfortable and confident. This small allowance for individuality helps each bridesmaid feel special and unique, yet still coordinated with the rest of the wedding party.

If you want to further personalise your bridesmaids’ looks, consider letting them wear dresses of different lengths. This ensures that everyone feels comfortable in their attire. Remember, there are no strict rules for how your bridesmaids should dress—uniformity is not a requirement. Each bridesmaid has her own style and colours that best suit her skin tone, so it’s a good idea to play to each person’s strengths to ensure they feel great and confident in their outfit.

Finally, don’t overlook the option of jumpsuits instead of dresses, which is an increasingly popular choice. Allowing your bridesmaids to opt for a jumpsuit if they prefer can help them feel more comfortable and confident, while still matching the overall colour scheme or fabric you’ve chosen. Whether all your bridesmaids wear jumpsuits or just a few, this choice allows them to express their individual style and adds a unique touch to your wedding.

CELEBRATING INDIVIDUALITY AND INTUITIVE

ELEGANCE

Creating the perfect Mother of the Bride ensemble should be prominent in your thoughts. There are veritable considerations to remember when looking for a seamless look of harmony with your daughter.

Consider what the bridesmaids and the mother of the groom will be wearing. Communication and coordinating with family are key aspects allowing for them to align and blend beautifully. Celebrating your uniqueness and individuality will bring an elegance that will surpass expectations. Your intuition is a gift that enables you to find an outfit meant for you, where you feel amazing, inimitable, and fabulous.

Colours are chosen on how they make you feel. Strong colours bring confidence and authenticity. White and cream should be minimal, accessories though can be used taking care not to dominate the whole look. Embracing vibrant colours work well, bold shades of cobalt blues, dark greens and yellows bring expressive presence to your outfit. Playful pastels embolden in creating a sophisticated and timeless look from a bygone era. Stunning watercolours in gradient designs give an etheric feel. When choosing a colour ask the following questions. Is your complexion naturally enhanced by your chosen colour? Is your skin tone luminous? Finding the balance that energises and reassures being the principal goal of looking and feeling your best.

Focusing on the dress should be uppermost in your mind. Team with accessories that will not dominate the whole look. Trends lead towards more contemporary fashion with a huge interest in glamourous flared gowns, sheath and cape styled gowns are an alternative option. Florals show an attitude of boldness and a captivating emphasis on detailed patterns. Eccentric prints and embroidery are likely to be popular at this time of year as the seasons change. A light wrap or jacket is desirable in cooler weather.

Glitzy sequins can add a luxurious feeling to any outfit, sumptuous fabrics such as silks, satins, tulle, and lace are

Whilst trying dresses be mindful of how it feels. Is it comfortable? Does it pinch anywhere? Consider two pairs of shoes for style and personal comfort, a pair to change into later will be important. Take a breath and give yourself a moment to relax within yourself. Let intuition be your guide.

If you are thinking of a hat, fascinator, or something more natural akin to a flower corsage, do consider your face shape and frame.

If you find the perfect outfit, do not delay in purchasing.

Remember your intuition is a great guide along with these guidelines. Your individuality and elegance will shine through allowing you to enjoy your daughter’s special day.

THE VEIL

When planning your wedding day look, opting for timeless classics ensures your style remains elegant and fashionable long after the big day has passed.

HAIR ACCESSORIES

Delicate hair combs or sparkling hairpins are becoming popular among brides, transforming simple hairstyles into elegant updos. When selecting hair accessories, it’s important to consider your hair type. Fine hair may suit daintier pieces, while thicker hair might benefit from more substantial designs that can hold their shape throughout the day.

THE DRESS

The veil is a quintessential bridal accessory, designed to complement your gown without stealing the show. A sheer veil is perfect for showcasing the back of your dress, while longer styles such as waltz or floor-length veils can help elongate a petite frame. For taller brides, mid-length options like fingertip or elbow-length veils work beautifully. Short styles, including birdcage or bandeau veils, are a fun, retro choice that suits brides of all shapes and sizes.

Always choose your dress before deciding on your jewellery. The style of your dress may change from what you initially imagined, so it’s wise to hold off on selecting jewellery until the dress is finalised. For example, an embellished or lace neckline can make a statement on its own, meaning you might want to avoid splurging on a large necklace.

UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE

Your bridal jewellery should be slightly understated to ensure

your dress remains the focal point. A simple bracelet is a lovely addition to your hands, which will be featured in many wedding day photos. If you’re wearing your hair up, delicate drop earrings can add a touch of sophistication, while looser hairstyles may suit more subtle accessories.

MIXING OLD AND NEW

Incorporating heirloom pieces, perhaps borrowed from family, can create a lovely blend of old and new. Whether it’s earrings or a bracelet, such pieces pair beautifully with classic jewellery. Stick to either silver or gold to keep the look cohesive and avoid mixing metals.

ADDING A POP OF COLOUR

While traditional silver and gold are always safe choices, don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour to your look. Colourful gemstones can bring a subtle vibrancy to your accessories and can be tied into your overall wedding theme by matching them with your bridesmaids’ dresses or the groomsmen’s ties.

THE WEDDING RINGS

Your wedding rings are one of the most meaningful elements of your big day, representing the eternal bond between you and your partner. Unlike other accessories, these rings are not just for the day itself but will be worn every day, symbolising your love, commitment, and unity throughout your marriage. Choosing the perfect wedding rings is a deeply personal decision, as they should reflect both your individual styles and the shared journey you’re about to embark upon.

When selecting your rings, it’s important to consider both style and practicality. Classic choices such as plain bands in gold or platinum are timeless, but modern couples are increasingly opting for more unique designs, including textured finishes, engraved patterns, or a mix of metals. Some couples may choose to incorporate meaningful details, such as personal engravings or incorporating gemstones that hold sentimental value.

It’s also essential to choose rings that fit comfortably and suit your lifestyle. Whether you prefer a sleek, minimal design or something more intricate, your rings should be a balance of beauty and durability, as they’ll be a part of your everyday life. For those who want a matching set, coordinating rings can be a lovely way to visually connect your union, while others may choose styles that reflect their individual tastes.

Whatever your preference, your wedding rings will forever be a powerful symbol of the vows you exchanged and the lifelong promise you made to one another.

STATIONERY CHECKLIST

Seeing your big day in writing can bring it to life, but before it is sent, there’s a lot to consider.

Wedding stationery is an essential part of planning. All of your stationery wants to have a cohesive look. The best way to achieve this is by ordering it all simultaneously; bulk ordering can also give you a considerable discount. You can do this whether using a stationary designer or doing it yourself.

Stationery before the big day can often be overlooked. Engagement parties are fun ways to share the news with the people closest to you. Hen and bachelor party invitations should also be sent. An invitation should be sent between six to eight weeks before the date and include information such as names, locations, dates, times and dress code. Save the date cards should be sent a year in advance to allow all of your guests to make arrangements to attend. Save the dates should include details such as full names, city, and wedding date, and state that a formal invitation is to follow.

The wedding invitation is the show’s star and should hit towards your wedding theme. The invitation should include your names, date, time, location, and dress code as well as details if your reception and ceremony are at different locations. Paired with this should be a reception card and an RSVP card.

The reception card should include information similar to the invite as well as, plus ones, and if children are welcome. RSVP cards are an easy way to let guests know if they can attend your wedding and an option to provide any dietary requirements. Outof-town guests may appreciate a directions/map card and an accommodation card.

Information provided at the wedding could include an order of service, a wedding reception program, seating plans and table numbers, place cards, and the menu. The order of service consists of an overview of the main ceremony; it can be personalised to include quotes and poems. The wedding reception program typically consists of a guide for the guests with details about speeches and the first dance. Seating plans and table numbers are usually displayed at the entrance to your reception; they should be straightforward to ease congestion.

If you want to add little gifts on the table for your guests, a personalised touch of a gift tag may be desired. A gift tag including the names of the newlyweds, the guests’ names, and the wedding date can be kept as a small keepsake for the guests to remember the fun day. A guest book is a perfect way to allow guests to leave words of wisdom or congratulate you on a happy day.

GETTING FROM

A TO B

Just like your dress, venue, and outfits, your wedding transport plays a pivotal role in setting the tone and creating a unique atmosphere for your special day.

Once your date is set and your location is booked, it’s time to consider the practical aspects of transport. Budget, the number of people needing transport, your style, and your vision are all important factors. Transport not only provides stunning backdrops for photographs and adds to the atmosphere, but also ensures a smooth and calm moment for the newlyweds.

Wedding buses are a practical and convenient choice, especially if you have a lot of out-of-town guests needing to travel between destinations. They ensure everyone arrives on time and together, while also adding a vintage and rustic vibe to your wedding, creating a unique atmosphere for travel.

For those dreaming of a fairytale wedding, a horse-drawn carriage can be the perfect choice. Most companies will decorate the horses and carriage with the colours of your choice, adding a romantic touch to your special day. They also ensure the coachman is familiar with the route and checks that it is suitable, guaranteeing a smooth and timely arrival.

Classic and vintage cars are the most popular wedding transport modes. They are accompanied by a chauffeur, making it an easy and simple option. It can provide a respite for the newlyweds, especially when used between the ceremony and the afterparty. These cars typically come in black and shades of white; pops of colour can be added to suit your theme.

American wedding cars are growing in popularity, adding uniqueness and character to your day. Police and sheriff’s cars, yellow school buses, Chevrolet, Cadillac and muscle cars are wonderful options to show off your taste and style. Most American cars come in beautiful colours to suit your theme and become an attraction to the eye.

Modern cars have many of the comforts we are all used to, such as air conditioning, heating, Bluetooth, and navigation. They are perfect for travelling in style and comfort. Grooms don’t often consider how they will travel between venues; hiring their dream car is a great way to get them interested. Modern cars are perfect for wedding parties with young children as they are made to use car seats and seatbelts for safety.

Alternative and more quirky options include a motorbike, bicycle, train, campervan, tractor, helicopter, or even a boat. If you have a short distance to travel and the bride has a dress on the smaller side, motorbikes and bicycles are wonderful options that will provide breathtaking photographs. Boats, campervans, and trains can provide transport for a group of people at a reasonable price.

Ultimately, your transport should be comfortable and feel like you. It should represent the personalities of the happy couple while making an impression and a statement. After considering your choices, you will be able to create lasting memories and pictures that everyone can look back on fondly of your special day.

STYLE WINTER WEDDING

If your big day is happening in the colder months, you don’t want to be caught shivering at the end of the aisle.

Weddings can be difficult to dress for, especially when the weather has a big impact. Your wedding location will influence your decision, a cool and drafty church will want a warmer suit and a heated area wouldn’t need to be that warm. The general rule is dark hues such as navy blue, green, burgundy and black.

Tweed is a great heritage cloth that can be styled to give a rustic or modern look. It is designed to keep you warm and comfortable throughout the day. A classic wedding suit that will make you stand out in a crowd, perfect for your big day.

Flannel is spun using insolating wool and is perfect for the middle of the winter. It feels warmer than your average suit material. Flannel has a thicker appearance giving it a more casual tone. Plum, green and blue paired with a woollen jumper can be a stylish option.

Wool is a breathable natural fibre that is wrinkle-free. Highquality merino wool is a great material that maintains its shape while offering stretch. Wool is gentle and soft to the touch, lightweight and won’t expose you to harsh chemicals.

If you are looking for a luxurious suit, silk will give you that feel. It does have a high price point so you will need to consider your budget. Silk isn’t a very breathable material making it suitable for winter. Silk takes colour very well and is perfect for bold colours.

Cotton is a natural fibre and a popular choice; it is comfortable and inexpensive. Cotton allows for flexible movement throughout the day and into the night. Cotton suits are generally more casual so they may not be appropriate for formal weddings.

Polyester is an inexpensive material for a suit. It is quickdrying and wrinkle-resistant. It does come with its downside as it isn’t as breathable as other materials and it has a slight shine making it less aesthetically pleasing.

Cashmere or cashmere blend suits are lightweight, soft and feel luxurious. Cashmere is usually at a higher price point and is very delicate. A cashmere and wool blend is a great choice. The cashmere will add warmth, and the wool will provide elasticity, as well as lower the price point.

The material of your suit can enhance your appearance, and a perfect-fitting outfit can make you feel confident and incredible throughout the day. Choosing a breathable and warm material will make sure you are comfortable. Rented suits are an affordable option however you do lose the option to have it tailored. For the perfect winter suit consider dark hues and winter-weight fabrics.

DREAMS CAKE OF YOUR

A symbol of love, prosperity and fertility, the wedding cake provides a delightful centrepiece, and is an opportunity to indulge your food fantasies whilst offering guests a memorable and delicious treat.

Evolving from humble beginnings as a simple fruit cake in medieval times, the wedding cake became more elaborate in the 19th century when the first tiered cake was produced. During Victorian times white icing was popular as it was thought to symbolise purity and innocence. Royal icing (made from icing sugar, egg whites and lemon juice) gained its name when used on Queen Victoria’s wedding cake in 1840. Her cake was large enough to feed 2,000 people, being ten feet wide and weighing in at 300lbs; last year a surviving slice sold at auction for £700!

The traditional wedding cake was made from a rich fruitcake which lent itself nicely to the custom of keeping the top tier for a first child’s christening or to celebrate a first wedding anniversary. Nowadays many couples choose a sponge cake and substitute fondant or buttercream icing for the firmer royal icing.

The modern wedding cake comes in all shapes and sizes and in every colour of the rainbow. It is a great opportunity for couples to celebrate their uniqueness and, perhaps in collaboration with their cake maker, to create a remarkable masterpiece of confection. As tastes have become more diverse, so has our appreciation of an extensive range of flavours. Currently, some of the most popular wedding cake flavours are chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, lemon and salted caramel. An interesting idea is to have a multitiered cake comprising differently flavoured layers.

You might consider a wedding cake tower, often constructed of cupcakes or baby cakes and sometimes accompanied by a small ‘top tier’ traditional cutting cake. Another option is the ‘naked cake’ which is usually assembled from several layers of sponge cake sandwiched together with a thick layer of buttercream but with little or no covering of icing. These cakes, frequently decorated with fresh fruit and flowers, are a delectable alternative if you are looking for something less extravagant and find the traditional wedding cake a little too sweet for your taste. However, if you really don’t have a ‘sweet tooth’ you may decide to opt for a savoury wedding cake, for instance one constructed of a tower of cheeses and pork pies.

Liaise with your cake creator as soon as you have decided on a wedding date. They are always in demand, so give them as much notice as you can. For a reasonable price they will usually be happy to provide a delightful selection of small samples so you can decide on flavours. With regard to decoration you can let your imagination run riot. For example, you may decide to theme your cake to reflect your joint interests and passions or use intricate icing to mirror the embellishments on the bride’s gown. The style may be fancy and formal, funky and fun or fluffy and floral. The choice is yours!

YOUR WEDDING STORY

The date for your wedding is set. The next step is to think about a photographer, the person who will capture the love, the candid moments, the laughs, and the nerves that become one of the most important days of your lives. The making of memories that will transcend a lifetime.

Choosing the right photographer is paramount, they will be an integral part of your special day. You will want to feel happy with your choice of photographer and comfortable in their presence throughout. Firstly, decide the style you would like your photographs to be. It is important when you view your shortlisted portfolios to think about which style draws you into the images. Do they make you feel excited, or not!

Traditional – this style of photograph is usually posed, taken at eye level. Snapped in groups with family members and the bride and groom. They are reminiscent of your grandparents or your parents’ weddings.

Editorial – Signified by posed photographs, with a luxurious feel to them. Placement in these types of images give them a rich feeling. You will discover photographers that specialize in this particular type of style.

Photojournalistic/ Documentary - if you are looking for photographs that tell your story throughout your special day, where timeless moments are captured, where natural beauty of togetherness shines brightly this could be the style for you.

Fine Art – these light, bright and airy photographs are commonly associated with film. It creates a cleaner, softer look.

Black and White – if you are having a vintage wedding and are looking for a rustic sepia feel, this style could work well.

Landscape – this involves working ahead with you the couple and making decisions of venues to capture scenic photographs.

Dark and Moody – this style is dramatic, using light and shadow it creates a dark and moody atmospheric ambience. It has become popular in recent years.

Flash Photographs – this style has grown in popularity. The captured images stand out, created from pointing the flash at the couple giving a paparazzi style to the finished photograph.

It is important to choose the style that resonates with you both. You would want to think about your budget for a photographer, consider this one of the most important days of your life. Being frugal with your budget may not give you the photographs you wish. Once this major decision is sorted. You can settle on your chosen shortlist of photographers.

You should love your chosen photographer’s work; you both will be trusting them with on the day. Ask to see full galleries of their work from other weddings they have done. Does their work connect with you, are your thoughts aligned with their style of work.

Ask to meet before your wedding, to talk about your wishes and requirements. Arrange an outing to your wedding venue, discuss locations, and types of shots or angles. Discussing your preferences will ensure a perfect day. It gives you time and space to get to know your photographer and for them to get to know you.

Your story of love is something to be captured, from the nerves to the tears and the laughs all the emotions that create the most magical and soulful day. One that you will treasure forever.

WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT THAT

WOWS

Once the ceremony, meal, speeches, and bouquet toss are behind you, it’s time to kick off the party and create unforgettable memories.

Music is a key part of wedding entertainment, setting the tone from the ceremony to the reception and evening festivities. Consider hiring local talent, such as a live band, string quartet, or pianist, to fill your celebration with beautiful melodies. These performers can provide the perfect soundtrack for your day, making it truly memorable.

If dancing is on the cards, many venues include evening entertainment in their packages. A DJ remains a popular choice, bringing a diverse collection of tracks to keep the dance floor buzzing and your guests in high spirits.

When it comes to music, getting it right is essential. You’ll want entertainment that captivates your guests and makes the day unforgettable. The first dance is a timehonoured tradition, offering a moment of togetherness for the couple amidst the celebrations. Your first dance song doesn’t have to be slow or sentimental—it should be meaningful to you both, reflecting your journey and adding a personal touch.

To elevate the entertainment, add interactive elements. A photo booth, caricaturist, or personalised Instagram board can create fun for your guests. Wedding-themed props, speech bubbles, and polaroids can capture candid moments, giving you memories to treasure. You could even replace a traditional guest book with photo booth snapshots, ensuring keepsakes you’ll cherish for years.

For a showstopping finale, organise a fireworks display. Fireworks captivate guests and create stunning photo opportunities. Another favourite is distributing sparklers, with your photographer capturing heart shapes or initials drawn in the sky.

Evening entertainment is often the highlight for guests. Add a touch of wonder with a magician or illusionist. These entertainers will amaze guests and give you a chance to relax and enjoy magical moments with friends and family.

Your wedding entertainment should be more than a party; it should leave a lasting impression, bringing joy, laughter, and a touch of magic your guests will remember forever.
