Until the end of the semester, we have a ton of events coming up, but don’t get discouraged that you can’t attend every one! 95% will do just fine :) Your PR Team, composed of Japman Kaur, Simon Mourani, and myself, are hard at work promoting any service or social events we have coming up. You can check out our work in these bulletins, on our website (wsucirclek.weebly.com), and on our Instagram and Facebook accounts. If there’s anything more you’d like to see from us, let us know! We’d love to get some feedback on the work we’re doing. Thanks so much for supporting the work we do! Your Bulletin Editor,

Words from Detroit Kiwanis No. 1

The MEGAPHONE

E N O H P A G E M the

Detroit Kiwanis No. 1 is the first Kiwanis club in the world, and in this city Kiwanis began on January 21, 1915. Our club was started by a group of businessmen in the Downtown area that wanted to network for business. Not far along, they decided they wanted more than that and wanted to give back to the community and thus started volunteering and helping others. We are a global service organization and in Michigan we are growing strong. Just a few months ago, we welcomed the Kiwanis Club of Berkeley, and we were glad some Circle K’ers could celebrate with us. I am Marian O’Higgins, Governor Elect of the Michigan District, soon to be Governor for 2017-2018. I am a proud member of Detroit Kiwanis No. 1 Club and look forward to working with WSU CKI to be involved, grow and do meaningful service in our community. About 12 years ago, Detroit No. 1 sponsored WSU Circle K. We are proud to be the sponsor of this energetic and involved Circle K. We look forward to collaborating on shared service activities and having members at our club meetings. Our next meeting dates are September 19th, October 3rd, and 17th at 12 pm. We meet at the Detroit Athletic Club, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. We would love to have you join us at our meetings. Yours in Service, Marian O’Higgins, Governor Elect for Michigan District Kiwanis

Man, if you really read two bulletins in a row and you still ain’t f***ing with Circle K, you really REALLY played yoself.

This past year, we hosted the Michigan CKI District Convention, right in the heart of Detroit. Our members graciously welcomed over 100 Circle K’ers from across the mitten for a weekend filled with service, reflection, and celebration of another great year. All participants were able to volunteer at different sites throughout Detroit, which helped show them all of Detroit’s glory, as well as its troubles. Circle K’ers also participated in a thrilling scavenger hunt throughout Downtown which helped educate them about the city and its culture. We’ve already held our first event of the year (see Page 6) and are looking forward to many more! If this bulletin has done a good enough job of showing you why YOU should be a part of WSU CKI, pop in to our next meeting to get to know us more :)
