AFTERNOON RACING
Racecard - £3.00
8 APRIL 2023
Official
SATURDAY
Hello and welcome back to Haydock Park for our Superhero Family Fun Day!
We love days like today, where there really is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. On the track we have seven races to look forward to, while elsewhere around the racecourse exciting activities from pony rides to face painting are taking place
Racing gets underway at 1.30pm this afternoon, while the last runners will go to post at 5pm I’d like to take this opportunity to thank House of Cavani who are very kindly supporting the card today. We wish them and their guests a wonderful day.
At 2.05pm we have the Happy Birthday Caroline Dingwall Mares’ Maiden Hurdle Race, while at 3.50pm The Jeannie’s Birthday Celebration Veterans’ Handicap Steeple Chase will take place. Everyone here at the racecourse wishes them both a very happy birthday and a lovely day at Haydock Park!
Over in the Be Friendly enclosure, Superman, Captain America, Wonderwoman and Spiderman are all on hand to give special superhero workshops throughout the day, so make sure you head over with the kids to be a part of the magic
In the same area, ponies from New Hill House Riding School are waiting for you to go and pay them a visit, while a superhero craft area has also been set-up for you and your little ones to get in touch with your creative sides!
The next time we race will be on April 29 for the Flat Season Opener, a day of racing which will mark the start of our flat season The Pertemps Swinton Hurdle, which combines both racing on the flat and over hurdles, follows in May. To find out more about everything we have going on, head over to our website – www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/haydock
For now, I wish you all a great day full of fun and thrilling action!
Warm wishes,
Molly Dingwall General Manager

CODE OF CONDUCT
As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct and observe the following whilst at our Racecourse.
For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas or outside where social distancing cannot be maintained.
If you feel you may be experiencing any of the recognised symptoms of Covid-19, please put on a face covering and speak to a member of staff in a well ventilated area. It is best to travel home if it is safe to do so
Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitiser and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately.
Familiarise yourself with your entry point and the location of amenities within the racecourse.
We are operating a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash
Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post).
Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through.
Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse.
Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.
Thank you so much for your continued support and co-operation
We hope you have a wonderful day with us

PLAY SMARTER
Any number to consider in a red-hot renewal of the final of this series but BUBBLE DUBI likely remains ahead of the handicapper after his Stratford success and has good claims in a race that should be run to suit his striking strong-travelling style Too Friendly is very interesting back over 2m in first-time blinkers, while last year’s second Castel Gandolfo is one to note at likely bigger odds

GLOBAL FAMENGLORY shaped well from an unpromising position after 11 months off when runner-up in a 7-runner handicap at Huntingdon in January and has to be considered the one to beat on that piece of form. Golden Glance was grossly flattered by her proximity to the easy winner at Huntingdon last time but is clearly going the right way, while La Gomera is worth another chance back from a break having split two subsequent winners on her Doncaster hurdling debut before disappointing at Ludlow.

VETS SCREEN POLICY
We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.

IMPORTANT NOTICES
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
