NEWMARKET WELCOMES YOU Welcome to the Rowley Mile. A very warm welcome to Newmarket Racecourse for QIPCO 1000 Guineas Day, the third day of the 2022 QIPCO Guineas Festival. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to QIPCO for their generous support of this three-day meeting and also to Betfair, for being our Official Betting Partner and for sponsoring six of our seven races this afternoon. The highlight of the day is the Group One QIPCO 1000 Guineas Stakes, the second of five British Classics and one of only two restricted to three year old fillies. It is also the second race of the 2022 QIPCO British Champions Series. First run in 1814, the QIPCO 1000 Guineas roll of honour reads like a who's who of the greatest Flat horses, trainers and jockeys of all time. Gordon Richards, Lester Piggott, Willie Carson, Pat Eddery, Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori are some of the jockeys to have lifted the trophy, with great trainers such as Vincent O'Brien, Noel Murless, Sir Henry Cecil, Sir Michael Stoute and Aidan O'Brien adding to the all-star cast. Notable recent winners have included Legatissimo, Minding and Love, three Champion fillies – all of whom were trained by Aidan O'Brien, who boasts seven victories in the race to date. QIPCO British Champions Series showcases 35 of the UK’s finest Flat races across ten racecourses, with races split into five categories – Sprint, Mile, Middle Distance, Long Distance and Fillies & Mares – culminating on QIPCO British Champions Day in October. The QIPCO 1000 Guineas is in the Fillies & Mares category. We can also look forward to the £100,000 Betfair Daily Rewards Heritage Handicap, the Listed Betfair Pretty Polly Stakes and the Group Two Betfair Exchange Dahlia Stakes, all of which add great depth to this wonderful raceday. Away from the racing we have the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame exhibition, which I would encourage you to go and see. Launched in 2021, the Hall of Fame immortalises the greats, equine and human, who have achieved remarkable things within horseracing since 1970. You can also enjoy some fantastic Après Racing entertainment on our Hyperion Lawn, courtesy of BBC Radio One's Chris Stark, who will be putting on a DJ set shortly after our final race. I hope that you all have a wonderful time here at Newmarket and wish all the horses and their connections the very best of luck. Best wishes, SOPHIE ABLE General Manager of Newmarket Racecourses DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING - THURSDAY 12TH MAY THE SPRING MEETING DAY 1 The three day Spring Meeting at Newmarket Racecourses includes; Evening Racing on the Thursday, Afternoon Racing on the Friday and The Festival of Suffolk Raceday on the Saturday.

SPONSORS
WELCO M E
HH Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani Chief Executive Officer QIPCO Holding On behalf of my brothers and fellow directors of QIPCO, I am extremely proud to welcome you to Newmarket’s QIPCO Guineas Festival as headline sponsor. My brothers and I share a passion for British horseracing with its rich history, which is why we base our racing and breeding operations here under the banner of Qatar Racing. It is also why we have committed to investing in British racing and sponsor the QIPCO British Champions Series, which starts each year with the QIPCO Guineas Festival. This year we all celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the relationship that our sport enjoys with the Royal Family which spans five centuries and has never been stronger than through her Majesty.
Dancing Brave, winner of the 1986 renewal of the 2000 Guineas is the latest equine inductee to the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame, which recognises excellence and honours British horseracing’s champions across the years. Dancing Brave is joined by the legendary jockey Frankie Dettori MBE, one of the world’s most decorated and renowned riders, with two more Hall of Fame inductees to be announced later this year. The QIPCO Guineas Festival is also particularly treasured by us, as Qatar Racing’s very own Kameko stormed to victory in 2020’s QIPCO 2000 Guineas, becoming the fastest ever winner of the race and providing Qatar Racing’s retained jockey Oisin Murphy with his first British Classic. Kameko retired to stud and now stands at Tweenhills, the home of Qatar Racing stallions, where we welcomed his first foals earlier this year. We will take great pride in watching them grow and develop on their journey to the racetrack. The QIPCO Guineas Festival throws up champions year after year and we expect this year to be no different. The winners here will be the most talked about horses of the season and so we wish all connections the very best of luck this weekend and throughout the 2022 QIPCO British Champions Series. A season of the best racing in the world awaits.

A 450,000 gns yearling, SYNDICATED understandably makes plenty of appeal on paper for a yard more than capable of readying a newcomer and he could well be the way to go. PLAY SMARTER
There was plenty to like about the style of CEMHAAN’s winning reappearance at Salisbury 11 days ago, having plenty up his sleeve and putting up a career-best effort in the process. George Baker’s charge can make light of a penalty and notch career victory number 4. Dark Jedi finished ahead of a few of these when runner-up at Musselburgh just over a fortnight ago and he’s fancied to give the selection most to think about, with Valley Forge completing the shortlist.

FACTS & STATS THE BETFAIR PRETTY POLLY STAKES RACE DESCRIPTION
This one mile, two furlong contest for three-year-old fillies is a Listed race; a race that can only be bettered by a Group 1, 2 or 3 race. Many of the runners in this race will have already shown themselves to be talented and this race provides a perfect medium for them to be tested against a better class of rival before making the jump into a Group race. Initially, the weights are set at 9st for each runner before penalties are awarded to horses that have previously won above a certain level – 3lb for a Listed or Group 3 success. Horses that have already won at Group 1 or 2 level are not permitted to enter.

Ben Curtis positioned her close to the pace and once Forever Grateful fell away she was there to take full advantage. Sea Karats chased her all the way to the line, but she was always chasing in vain.

FACTS & STATS THE BETFAIR EXCHANGE DAHLIA STAKES RACE DESCRIPTION Run over a mile and one furlong, this contest for fillies who are four-year-olds and older is a Group 2 contest and will attract some of the best around this season. Unlike in a handicap when a horse’s official rating reflects the weight that they must carry, in a Group 2 all runners carry the same weight regardless of any previous form. In this case, 9st is the mark, although any runner which has already won a Group 2 race will be issued with a 3lb penalty and any winner of a Group 1 contest is given a 5lb penalty to shoulder. FACTS & STATS THE QIPCO 1000 GUINEAS RACE DESCRIPTION
The first fillies’ Classic of the season, this one mile race for three-year-olds is also a Group 1 contest; the highest level of racing. Group 1 races attract the very best horses from Britain and Ireland, occasionally from as far away as France, Australia, South Africa or the USA due to the prestige of these historic contests. Victory in a Classic race is the ultimate pinnacle for owners, trainers and jockeys and those fillies that are capable of racing competitively at this level often go on to have lucrative careers as broodmares later on.

Aidan O’Brien continued his dominance in the 1000 Guineas with Mother Earth. Ridden by the master himself Frankie Dettori, she wasn’t the pick of the O’Brien team if the betting was anything to go by however that had no impact on her impressive performance. Pulled to the far side to challenge, she picked up well to win going away.

TENEBRISM looked potentially out of the top drawer when swooping from last to first in the Cheveley Park here in September on what was only her second career start and the way she powered home suggests this trip should be within her compass. She’ll need a bit of luck in running to pull off similar tactics but is taken to provide Aidan O’Brien with a fifth win from the last 6 renewals. Discoveries boasts an excellent profile and must be respected, as does the selection’s stablemate Tuesday.

PLAY SMARTER
An interesting 3-y-o contest with DYNAMIC TALENT taken to make it 2 from 2 in handicaps. He made a good impression when scoring cosily at Kempton last time, with the front pair clear of the rest, and a 9lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent the follow up. A pair of handicap debutants are feared most, with North Lincoln preferred up in trip for Sir Mark Prescott ahead of Guess, who represents the in-form Ralph Beckett.

“For every horse that appears on a racecourse, there is a large group of individuals that have made it happen. They are not in the limelight, but they are totally dedicated to their work. When these people face difficulties in their lives, they need somewhere to turn, and Racing Welfare is there for each and every one of them.” - HRH The Princess Royal President of Racing Welfare

Emergency Procedures
Newmarket Racecourses has put in place a number of security and safety measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment. However an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions calmly and quickly. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course, the most likely scenario is that you will be ushered onto the track itself via the emergency gates. From there you will be held in an area of safety and receive further instructions as appropriate. It may give you some peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, please remember in the event of an emergency: TAKE YOUR BELONGINGS WITH YOU. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE STEWARDS, PROCEED QUICKLY AND CALMLY TO THE SAFE AREA. Racegoers are reminded to keep all their belongings with them at all times, and not to leave any packages unattended. Any such packages may be confiscated by the Racecourse Management.
Health And Safety Notice
The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirements whilst you are at Newmarket Racecourses. The emergency exits from the bars onto the grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would request that you do not stop whilst in this area. We would also request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing ramp and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the first aid room is located adjacent to the main Premier Enclosure Entrance (Rowley Mile) or Premier Entrance 2 (July Course).
Racehorse & Jockey Welfare
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials are here to ensure that the racecourse delivers those standards. In addition Newmarket Racecourses employs two veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.
If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
Photography
Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the racecourse enclosures. Photography is not permitted in any other area without the permission of the Head of Racing. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication. Racegoers are reminded that flash photography is not permitted as the flash can alarm horses and may endanger horses, jockeys and public.
