NASI LEMAK PAVILLION Rome : Global Food Expo 2020 Term: Fall 2019 Academic Project (Study Abroad) The design will each feature a particular dish/regional cuisine/ technique that may be inside or outside Italy andengages the context of Rome and the site. Following the group site analysis, we selected our own individual sites and unique culinary perspective. Required elements include preparation/cooking/ dining space, information/ education/library, and event/ lecture/performance space. Total area is not to exceed 150 square meters.

POP-UP RESTAURANT Rome : Food Expo Term: Fall 2019 Academic Project (Study Abroad) A pop up restaurant design, inspired by a dish is chosen to represent the larger context of Rome. The design of the pop up restaurant should be “radical, experimental solutions,”a “laboratory” for interactive displays and direct partaking in global food culture. I choose the Malaysian traditional dish - Kuih Lapis, a dish that represent the fusion of Chinese and Malay culture. The site is located at the Circus Maximo of Rome, near Via Aventino, which acknowledge the colonization context of the nature of the dish.

Paper Making

Term : Spring 2019 Academic Project A group of artisans wants to establish a cooperative paper mill and workshop in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. Their primary focus is handmade paper but they produce paper-related work as well. The size of the cooperative is limited to the number of people that can sit around a large table for group meetings as well as for lunch. The cooperative supports itself by selling paper and other projects based on paper that are made on site, and by renting studio space to visiting artists.

Value within chaos

Inspired by Wolfgang capturing the chaotic nature of Lampedusa with the act of framing, it gives value to mundane objects. The piles of trash are given importance because it is captured.

Assign a value to the normal everyday life by framing it as one of the exhibited artworks, driving the attention of the viewers.

HENRY ART GALLERY Intervention proposal Term: Winter 2019 Academic Project After studying the scale and urban context of the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, an intervention is proposed to benefit the gallery: adding an outdoor structure that functions both as an event space and an outdoor exhibition room. On the elevated floor, driven to the end by the form and an extended series stairs, the occupants will focus on the art gallery, which visibly lines up with the George Washington statue. This gives more attention to the gallery as the current geographic position is not eyecatching from both sides of the road. The lower level of this structure serves as a gathering space where outdoor exhibitions and events can be held.

KITARR PROJECT Sutainability awareness Term: Summer 2019 Personal Project Malaysia has been rated as the one of the worst country for plastic pollution, where only 2% of plastic waste was recycled. Metal Straw

As part of the local culture, we tend to consume beverages alot, especially among toursits, college students and juvinile; which indirectly bought to the rising population of bubble tea shops, the tremendous waste created from this hype is bringing a deleterious effect to our environment. The idea of Kitarr-means both environment & recycle in Malay, introducing the concept of reusable boba tea cup with glass straw to reduce plastic waste to our environment, and instilling this sustainable practice as part of the beverage culture.
